A honest businessman Ranjit Singh, who is forced to bribe the State Chief Minister, Bandrekar, and a Pakistani ISI Agent, Ansari, so that he can open an arms factory; Megha, a press reporter, who witnesses the death of 3 terrorists at the hands of Raj, the son of the Chief Minister; D.C.P. Arun Bedi, who at one time was known as the Sarfaresh-E-Hind, is now a mere tool in the hands of his politically-motivated superiors and politicians; Ranjit's son, Amar, who is a college student, gets killed by terrorists; Pappu, the Chief Minister's married son, carries on with a number of prostitutes in his residence; and a crippled soldier sings and bemoans the regression everywhere. Amidst this background, Raj recalls that his father had killed his mother during his childhood, and has him arrested - knowing fully well that his father is a man who had not hesitated to kill his wife, will not surely spare him. The question remains: Will the authorities be able to protect the son against the father? The film is set in 1947. The exodus has begun after Partition. A Sikh ex-military man in his thirties finds a 16-year-old Muslim girl alone in a nearby village and brings her home. But the villagers tell him he should either marry her or leave her in a camp where people bound for Pakistan are located. But he decides that since he's far older, he'd better leave her at the camp. As he is about to send her off with a man bound for the camp and who is prepared to marry her there, she asks Buta Singh if he is so poor that he cannot even feed her two Rotis per day to keep her alive. Whereupon Buta Singh decides to marry her. They have a baby girl. And Buta is pretty happy that despite being overage, matrimonially speaking, he's leading a pleasant life. Others of his class usually had to actually buy women from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar whom they married. A jealous uncle who realizes the family property will now go to the Muslim girl, forcibly dumps Buta's wife into a truck bound for Pakistan. Buta realizes what has happened, sells all his land and goes along with his child to Pakistan illegally. He's quickly arrested and brought before a judge who's quite willing to free him if his wife owns up. But, under pressure from her family, the girl backs off. A disillusioned and distraught Buta jumps with his daughter before an oncoming train. He dies, but his daughter is saved. Pakistani youth, overcome by this, hail him thus: Shaheed-e-Mohabat (a martyr in the cause of love), erect a memorial and a trust in his name. —Jalwehra

Sultan is a kind-hearted and generous man who was compelled to become a gangster. He has trained Damodar to be a gangster, but Damodar has become the very opposite of Sultan, terrorizing the poor, and using his influence to get what he wants, and kills whoever he wants to. Sultan befriends Inspector Rajeshwar, and surrenders himself to the police, and serves a 10 year sentence in prison. After this sentence, Sultan returns only to find that Damodar has taken over the entire underworld, and is not even intimidated, nor respectful of the man who got him where he is now.

Dharamraj dislikes women and has told his younger brothers to stay away from them. Dharamraj runs a garage with his two younger brothers and has remained a bachelor all his life as he hates women. He also forbids his brothers from falling in love and getting married. Tension between the brothers arises when Dinky and Dino meet and fall in love with Radha (Juhi Chawla) and Renu (Divya Bharti). After Dharamraj stops them from marrying Renu and Radha, the brothers leave home. They soon discover the real reason Dharamraj hates women. They are actually the real heirs of a wealthy business empire that was run by their father (Vikas Anand) before his death. This was the reason why Dharamraj left home and took his two brothers with him. He vowed to never marry as he feared his wife would also ill treat his brothers. Dino and Dinky return home to their brother and he slowly starts to approve of Renu and Radha. Meanwhile their stepmother has left her business in the hands of the corrupt Prajpati (Kiran Kumar) who is also the actual killer of their father. The brothers soon unite with Robin to save their stepmother when Prajpanti plans to steal their wealth and frame them for his crimes. Dharamraj Verma and his two younger brothers, Dinki and Dino, run a garage with the help of a trained monkey and a "Herbie-type" car named dhug dhug. Since Dharamraj dislikes woman, he has not married and will not also permit his brothers to woo any woman, leave alone marry them. But when Dino & Dinki fall in love with Air India Hostesses Renu and Radha respectively, things come to a boil between the brothers and as a result they decide to split. Dinki and Dino board dhug dhug, who takes them to a bungalow. Puzzled they come out of the car and wonder why dhug dhug would stop here of all places. Then a servant named Ramu, who they have seen with Dharamraj on several occasions, tells them why dhug dhug stopped outside this bungalow. It is here all mysteries will be clarified for these two brothers, and it is here they will learn why Dharamraj distrusts women, and why he refuses to marry or permit them to marry any woman. After a security officer's murder, his blind daughter and family face turmoil. A stranger with a criminal past helps them, secretly pursuing his own agenda. What the Naths do not know is that Shiva is a killer, who has spent time in juvenile prison for killing his very own mom, and who has a secret and hidden agenda for coming to their aid.
