Sathyavati is a great devotee of Santoshi Maa. But when Narada decides to test her devotion, she faces several challenges in her life. Satyavati lives a poor lifestyle along with her widower dad in Sonarpur, and is a devotee of Devi Maa Santoshi, (the daughter of Bhagwan Shri Ganesh, who had created her so that his two sons could have a sister to tie a Raakhee on their wrists on Raksabandhan). While returning home one day, Satyavati is molested by Banke, and she is rescued by Birajram, who lives in Mirpur, along with his widowed mom, six elder brothers, and their respective wives and children. Both Satyavati and Birajram fall in love, and with the approval of their respective families, get married. After moving in with Birajram, Satyavati finds out that her husband is referred to as the slacker, is fed leftovers, and is abused and ill-treated by everyone save for his mother and eldest brother, Dayaram. When Birajram finds out that he is being fed leftovers, he leaves, boards a boat, which capsizes and he allegedly drowns, leaving Satyavati at the mercy of her uncaring mother-in-law, two cruel sister-in-laws, while she refuses to believe her husband is dead, also refuses to behave like a widow, and steadfastly starts sixteen weeks of fasting and devotion to appease Devi Maa Santoshi - little knowing that her very own plight is due to three jealous Devi Maa's' - Gauri, Lakshmi, and Parvati - the spouses of Bhagwan Shri Brahmaji, Vishnuji, and Shivji - and there is no power on Earth that can save her from their wrath. —rAjOo (gunwanti@hotmail.com)

A man regrets his decision of refusing to marry the woman he loves. In a nation crippled with poverty and crime, young Saraswatichandra is brought up by his rather cruel step-mother, and eventually decides to shun materialistic life. Hoping to get him to change his mind, his father arranges his marriage with Kumud Sundari, but he remains adamant. When Kumud comes to know, she writes to him, they exchange letters, he comes to meet her and both fall deeply in love with each other. He returns home, makes preparation for the wedding but his step-mother instigates his father against him, compelling him to forsake everything, and writes to Kumud's family accordingly. He changes his mind and goes to meet with Kumud but finds she is now married to Pramadh. A tearful Kumud re-locates to live with her husband and her family, but finds her husband unsophisticated, uneducated, alcoholic and womanizer who frequents brothels. Then Saraswatichandra re-enters her life when he gets employed by her in-laws under the name of Navinchandra. He notices her silent anguish but is unable to do anything while she decides to destroy all evidence of her involvement with him. A woman faces problems when she insists on marrying the man she loves. Saranga lives a wealthy lifestyle in Ambavati along with her father, Nagar Seth, and step-mother, Nagar Sethani, and she in love and wants to marry Rajkumar Sadabaksh. She is unhappy when told that her marriage has already been arranged with Sethani's brother, Gyanchand. Initially Nagar opposes this alliance, but changes his mind after Sethani threatens to kill herself. He then goes to the Raja and gets him to promise that he will forbid his son from seeing Saranga. Watch what reaction this promise has on Sadabaksh and on Saranga herself.

Twenty years ago, after killing his brother, Sardar Rajpal flees from his hometown in Shillong and re-locates in the rural area of Assam along with his adopted daughter, Meena. He asks his wife, Kamla, to send their son, Shankar, so that he can employ him and get him married to Meena. Shankar arrives and he is welcomed by Sardar who employs him and introduces him to Meena. A few days another young man shows up at his door claiming that he is Kamla's son. A baffled Sardar also welcomes him, and puts both the young men under observation in order to find who the real Shankar is. "Awara", a film that introduced Raj Kapoor`s tramp character inspired by Charlie Chaplin, is regarded among the greatest films of all time. The film tells the story of Raj (Raj Kapoor) the estranged son of a wealthy judge Raghunath (Prithviraj Kapoor) who throws his wife out on the streets suspecting her of adultery as a result of which Raj and his mother live in poverty. Raj meets Rita (Nargis) in school and she leaves an impression on him, but they drift apart when Raj is expelled from school. Raj is convinced by Jagga (K.N. Singh), a crime boss, to take up a life of crime to escape his life of poverty. He encounters Rita again who is now a lawyer and a ward of Raghunath. Through dramatic twists and turns, Raghunath discovers that Raj is his son and a contrite Raj goes to jail with Rita promising to wait for him.

The story of Barsaat revolved around two contrasting love storiesone rooted in innocence and the other in heartbreak. Two friends, Pran (Raj Kapoor) and the womanizing Gopal (Prem Nath) romance two local girls Reshma (Nargis) and Neela (Nimmi) while holidaying in the valley of Kashmir. While Pran and Reshma's love is true, Gopal is a womanizer, who disregards the faithful Neela and condemns her to wait faithfully for his return. The music of the film marked the debut of the legendary duo Shankar-Jaikishan and has songs that are hummed even today. The poster of the film that depicted the romantic pose of the heroine gazing up at the hero as she bends backwards on his arm inspired the famous insignia of R.K. Films.
