Roopa lives a wealthy lifestyle with her husband, Prakash Chandra, who works for her dad, Manoharlal Verma, and a daughter named Sharda alias Pinky. Roopa and Prakash do not get along and Roopa suspects that Prakash is having an affair. Her suspicious nature gets a boost when a woman named Sharda Dayal Sharma moves into a house next door. Roopa starts vile rumors about Sharda having an affair with Prakash. As a result of these rumors, no one is willing to marry Sharda, she is mocked by everyone in the community, and even loses her bank job. Sharda decides to teach Roopa a lesson by moving her belongings in to her house, claiming that she is indeed Prakash's mistress. The surprising thing is Prakash agrees to this arrangement and permits her to live with them. Unable to assert herself, Roopa leaves the house, and goes to live with her parents. Things are going well with Sharda, until one day when Pinky goes missing. Sharda hectically attempts to locate Pinky, but in vain. Then the police arrive to arrest Sharda on the charge of kidnapping Pinky and possibly killing her. The police indicate that they can prove that Sharda did indeed kidnap Pinky as she has a motive of continuing to live with Prakash as his mistress and wanted Pinky out of the way. The story takes us through details of Sharia (muslim) law regarding divorce and remarriage. Niloufer habitually keeps a diary, which proves to be her undoing. Does she still love her her ex-husband? On her birthday she receives a present from her doting husband, a present that is so utterly unexpected and an utterly selfless sacrifice. The region's Maharaja is asked to have the child killed but he cannot do so until and unless a crime has been committed. A number of elders, including Archarya, decide to impart positive thoughts and learning in him, as well name him Ahinsak (non-violent). He then departs to live in the Gurukool along with three other children, Maruti, Dhanpal, and Krishna. Ahinsak impresses everyone both in studies and sports. Years later, Archarya may be forced to take back his words when he finds Ahinsak has broken rules to stay away overnight with Rajkumari Mayadevi, without permission. The Archarya misgivings will gather more ground when Ahinsak gets into a fight with Maruti and injures him badly. As if that were not enough, he again breaks the rules and is punished. But the worst is yet to come when Archaya will be told that his wife, Gurumata, may be having an affair with his pupil, as well the discovery of the dead body of Dhanpal - the first of many victims that are fated to be slain by Ahinsak - who will now acquire a new name - Angulimaal - a man who first slays his victims then cuts their fingers off and wears them around his neck.
