They noticed that Mughals had rules India for hundreds of years, and looted their wealth, but could not loot their culture and history. The British made a plan to destroy India's proud history and culture, which would make it easy for the British to rule and loot the country. By 1857, the Indian subcontinent is in the grips of a widespread revolt against the rule of the British East India Company. The city of Jhansi is under siege by the British, and the defending soldiers begin to waver upon seeing that they are outnumbered. However, their queen, Rani Lakshmi Bai (Anushka Shetty), motivates them by telling the tale of the rebel who started their war 10 years ago: Narasimha Reddy (Chiranjeevi). Reddy was born to the chief of Uyyalawada in the state of Hyderabad and his two wives are the daughters of the Nizam's chief. Reddy's mother is Seethamma (Lakshmi Gopalaswamy), his elder brother is Kumara Mallareddy (Anand) and half brother Basi, who was working for the British. Reddy defied death after being born still and coming to life and is believed to be blessed by God with demonstrated athletic and acrobatic skills from a young age. Reddy was adopted by his maternal grandfather Jayarami as he needed a heir for his Nossam fort. One day, a teenage Reddy rides past an execution conducted by the British, and his grandfather Jayarami (Nassar) explains the predicament faced by villagers under the rule of the East India Company. Reddy vows to retaliate and learns combat and philosophy under sage Gosayi Venkanna (Amitabh Bachchan). 25 years later, Reddy gathers several fallen chiefs and kings from different provinces and organizes a fully operational resistance in the city of Renadu. Avuku Raju is one of the chiefs who despises Reddy for his leadership abilities and does not want the alliance to come together. The kingdoms were taken over by British forces led by Cochrane (Henry Maynard), the governor of Madras. Reddy meets the dancer Lakshmi (Tamannaah Bhatia) and saves her life from stampeding cattle, who have been drugged by fellow chief Avuku Raju (Sudeep), who is known to have hostility towards Reddy for his popularity. Reddy rounds up the cattle, forgives Avuku, and also displays feelings for Lakshmi. All the chiefs wanted Avuku to apologize, but Reddy saved him from the embarrassment, acknowledging that Avuku is loved by his people. Reddy and Lakshmi comes to nothing as a child marriage has already been conducted between Reddy and a girl named Siddhamma (Nayanthara), who has had feelings for Reddy even then. Reddy was forced to marry as a Yagnam had to be performed and only married men could perform the Yagnam. After the Yagnam Reddy and Siddhamma had to stay separated for 24 years, else Reddy's life would be in danger. Now, the drought crisis was deepening and another Yagnam was being organized, for which Reddy was reunited with Siddhamma. Upon learning this, Lakshmi attempts suicide, but Reddy convinces her to give life another chance. Meanwhile, the people of Renadu were dying due to lack of rain, which failed the crops twice in consecutive years. The British took half of any produce as taxes, leaving nothing for the population to sustain itself. Reddy tells the Indian accountant of the British officers that Renadu would not pay any taxes till the rains return and the agricultural output returns to normal. Cochrane is told of Reddy's resistance being effective against their rule and sends a general named Jackson (Oscar Skagerberg) to forcefully collect Renadu's taxes. Reddy confronts Jackson and defeats his soldiers when they come to collect taxes. Reddy humiliates Jackson by asking him to hang his head in shame while going back. Jackson raids and pillages the surrounding regions of Renadu, and challenges Reddy by killing villagers who speak against him. Jackson created a new rule that if the village wants to retain their crops, then they would have to send their new brides to him first on the night of their wedding. The villagers' revolt and are annihilated in return. In retaliation, Reddy attacks Jackson's home by himself and kills all of his soldiers. He eventually beheads him and sends his head to Cochrane. The resistance grows stronger when Lakshmi travels across the nation and promotes it, leading Tamil chief Raja Pandiyan (Vijay Sethupathi) to join. Cochrane sends a battalion of hundreds of men led by his man Daniel (Matthew Stirling) and a battalion of cannons. The chiefs refuse to help Reddy, and they want him to apologize to the British. Reddy instead creates an army made of villagers, who support him as he fights for their rights. Daniel's soldiers are killed when Reddy and a group of civilians hold themselves down in a fort, using strategic traps to counter British technology. Avuku reforms and helps Reddy defeat them, admiring his bravery. In the process, Siddhama gives birth to their child in the fort, and Reddy names him Subbaya after his farmer friend who perishes. Mallareddy betrays Reddy by giving British the location of Reddy's wife who is abducted. Reddy attacks the fort where she is kept hostage and rescues her. Reddy then hands over Mallareddy to his mother for the appropriate punishment. As Reddy expands his army by training civilians, Cochrane manages to capture Lakshmi and use her to get to Reddy. When Lakshmi is told that Cochrane has enough ammunition and weapons to demolish the resistance, she lights her clothes on fire and causes an explosion, killing herself and the men. Cochrane, however, survives and gathers his remaining troops to make a final stand against Reddy's army. The two armies clash, and Cochrane kills Obanna (Brahmaji), Reddy's deputy, while Raja Pandi is gravely injured Reddy saves him by defeating Cochrane in a duel. The rebels hold them back and kill 10,000 men, but Reddy is forced to go into hiding when an injured Cochrane continues to search for him. A chief named Veera Reddy (Jagapathi Babu) betrays the resistance out of anger since Reddy had killed his son for attempting to assassinate him and collect a British bounty on his head. At the same time, Reddy gave his treacherous brother Basi (Ravi Kishan) a second chance but only to reveal his allies. It turns out that Reddy had spared and forgave him, without knowing that Veera had drugged Reddy's tea which weakened him, allowing Cochrane's men to capture him. Reddy is convicted and his supporters are exiled, but before Reddy is executed he gives a speech to his people telling them to stand strong and hold up the resistance. However, Reddy does not die even from hanging and escapes the noose. One of the soldiers beheads him, but even afterward, Reddy's body manages to stab Cochrane dead. Reddy's head is hung for a display to suppress the rebellion. Gosayi Venkanna, Avuku Raju and other supporters of Reddy are exiled from India. 10 years later, Rani Lakshmi Bai and her men fight the British and defeat them. A voice-over narration states that Reddy's rebellions will have served as inspiration for warriors and activists to gain their deserved freedom.

Fifteen Tahsildars are found missing, and the police find that fourteen of them have been released after three days, but one of them has been killed. They find some files and a tape along with the body of the dead Tahsildar. These files carry details of why the kidnapping of the Tahsildars had been done and the reason for the murder of one of them, and have the words A.C.F. written on it. It is understood by the police that these men were the Tahsildars who had indulged themselves in bribery and that they were the top 15 of the list of the corrupt Tahsildars. The A.C.F. sends the tape, with the message that they shall continue the kidnap of the corrupt officers in all the departments and that the No. 1 corrupt shall be sentenced to death according to the law of the Anti Corruption Force. The A.C.F. similarly kidnaps officials from PWD and police department and kills the top corrupt official. There is fear among the corrupt officials. They come forward to file their returns. For a while there are no illegal transactions done, but the corruption soon continues in the society due to the threatening of the local mob to sign illegal documents and accept bribes. Meanwhile, the A.C.F. finds that it is Badrinarayana who is the real reason behind this corruption scenario. Then the kidnapping continues. The case is investigated by group of several old-aged senior level officials who are very slow-moving in their progress. However, Suryam, an IPS-passed guy who is working as a constable (as unable to pay the bribe to get the officer-level job), takes up the case in order to get promotion in the department and moves ahead of those officials in a short time, taking a medical leave. He investigates the case starting with finding of the non-corrupt official in every government office, assuming that official would have collected the information of other corrupt officers and passed it to A.C.F.. He tries to figure out what is the common thing which unites them under one roof. He gradually finds out that they are alumni of National College and working for the A.C.F. under their professor and the leader of the A.C.F., Professor Tagore. Tagore is a simple man who leads a simple life during the daytime along with his adopted kids from different cultures (one is a Muslim, one is an American, and two of the kids are Hindu, etc.). He looks like a timid character, but brave in terms of his actions and he loved by all his peers. Tagore once takes one of his kids to the hospital for treating an injury and finds that the hospital is a place full of corruption who play with the lives of people for the sake of money. Tagore decides to expose the truth and catches them red-handed by faking a dead body as a patient. The hospital, unaware of his plans, continue their treatment even though they know that the person is dead and demand thousands of money for treatment. Tagore produces the documents and receipts related to their fake treatment and gets the hospital sealed by the government. The hospital dean is arrested, but he commits suicide. Badrinarayana, the dean's father, is enraged by this and attempts to take revenge on Tagore. He finds Tagore in the CCTV camera and is shocked as according to him he was dead several years ago. Tagore is a happy professor who lives with his wife Nandini, who is expecting a second child and son. On a Deepavali day, when the whole apartment is celebrating the festival, the entire building collapses due to some fault in the construction of a nearby highway, and many of the residents (including Tagore's uncle, Nandini and Tagore's son) lose their lives. Tagore rushes to the government officials, and he learns that all this was due to Badrinarayana, the owner of a construction company and builder of that highway. Tagore finds that the highway was constructed on loose soil by which the contractions caused to collapse was very well known to him. Badrinarayana and his men thrash Tagore, but Tagore escapes from them. The incidents that he faced at the office and seeing corrupt puppets in the hands of Badrinarayana, he becomes frustrated and he forms the A.C.F. (Anti Corruption Force) to fight against corruption. He also kidnaps Badrinarayana and keeps him under his custody. The constable finally finds out the people working for A.C.F. are the ex-students, and the police force captures all of them. Police men torture them to open the identity of their leader; however, they refuse to do so. Tagore, on seeing his students suffer after Badrinarayana escapes from their custody and kills them, surrenders to the Police and requests the Police to release his students. The rising support for Tagore makes the Chief Minister to meet him for higher appeal. Tagore refuses to appeal as he wants to stress the concept in the minds of everyone that if we make mistakes, we will be punished, and he himself doesn't want to violate it as he did a crime of killing four people. Tagore gives a speech in the court explaining what a student power the country has, but corruption is what is letting it down, also revealing that how he killed Badrinarayana and his brother at the gallows section in the jail. In the end, Tagore is given a normal punishment of five years and is to be released by then.
