The film is a remake of Amitabh Bachchan starer Zanjeer. The honest police officer Vijay Khanna shall rise to fight crime and eliminate criminal in a city ruled by the crime lord Teja. To fight crime his love interest shall support him and Sher Khan will be his aide fighting from forefront.

Criminal don-aspiring politician Sattar Bhai (Sanjay Dutt) runs a collection agency in Mumbai's Bhendi Bazar called 'Good Luck Recovery'. He had started this business with 4 employees but now has over 400 of them. His uses his influence and goon-power to mainly recover money from middle-classed clients of All India Bank. Most sought after by banks, Telecom companies and various multinationals, today his Good Luck Recovery Agency is a leading recovery agency. Sattar follows a simple rule when it comes to his business, Loan Liya Hai To Chukana Padega. All India Bank engages in all sorts of loans like car loans, education loans etc. They do not insist on full documents, ad make it really easy for people to get loans. From Bhaigiri to business to politics to social work, that's how Sattar wants to progress in life. He has already graduated from Bhaigiri to business and is now eager to jump into politics. These include defaulters like Anil (Ashish Chaudhary) and his wife, Shilpa Sharma (Neha Oberoi), who have taken a loan to buy their house, car & honeymoon so that they can get married. Anil is addicted to pornographic films, and he spends money to buy pirated CDs of the same. Neha is always angry with Anil because he has a roving eye, and he flirts with attractive women even in front of Neha. Chandrakant (Khulbhushan Kharbanda) lives with his son, Arjun Desai. Arjun parties all night with his friends and returns home late at night. Chandu is worried about Arjun's future, and he says that he wants to do an MBA from London, which will cost a lot of money. Chandu's friends tell him that if he does not provide an opportunity to Arjun Chandu takes a loan to finance his son's MBA dream. The bank gives him a personal loan of Rs 4 Lakhs, at a high rate of interest. DJ Ryan Breganza (Arjun Rampal) had a fickle girlfriend, Nancy (Malika Arora). Ryan borrows cash on his credit card and believes that he wants to die owing money to people. Ryan uses the address of his friends on his credit card applications. Ryan uses the cash to party in expensive night clubs with his super model girlfriend, who has expensive tastes. Prerna Joshi (Urmila Matondkar). Prerna's husband was murdered by loan sharks, but police report says her husband committed suicide. As a result, the bank is refusing to honor the insurance claim. Prerna has taken a loan of Rs 10 Lakhs to pay a local goon Rafiq Bhai to change the police report & claim the insurance amount. The insurance claim is for Rs 2 Crores. Rafiq says that he will asks one of his goons who is already in prison (who was imprisoned after the husband's death), to testify that he murdered Prerna's husband. 1 year later, Anil & Neha are trying to divorce & have stopped paying EMIs. Chandrakant is looking for a job to pay his dues. Chandu gets a job with his previous employer Babu (Anant Mahadevan). Nancy breaks up with Ryan. Nancy says that Ryan is a compulsive liar who gets more calls from banks than from music companies. And he ends up spending all his time hiding from bank officials. Nancy was responsible for Ryan running up credit card bills of more than Rs 3 Lakhs. Prerna is still stuck as Rafiq took the money & died without completing the job. All of them have borrowed huge amounts but are unable to return them. After the bank makes some attempts to recover the loans, the loans are transferred to a recovery agency, in this case to Sattar Bhai. All of them land up with Sattar's collection agency. The collection agency promises the bank to recover the money within a week. The news channels and papers are full of stories of Sattar and his agency using strong arm tactics for lean recovery. Sattar wants to be a politician & his mentor Yusuf Bhai asks him to empathize with people & be nice to them. The mentor tells Sattar that to go do good deeds Sattar needs a good intention as well. Only then the public will trust him as a politician. Yusuf says that Sattar can only be a good politician when the people support him. Sattar would need to remove his fear from people's hearts and minds. Sattar is now the savior and the solution for all those caught in the debt trap. The agency includes employees including Gaffur Bhai (Daya Shankar Pandey), Prem Prakash Patel (Manoj Joshi), Mumbai Central (Snehal Dabi) and others. Sattar starts helping people. Anil tells him that Neha slapped him when she caught him watching porn & he accused her of having sex with other guys. She is also angry at him for not taking financial responsibility of their dues. Sattar sends some of his goons to scare Neha, so that she gets back together with Anil. Chandu tells Sattar that Arjun never went for his MBA after he got hold of the money. Sattar is smitten by Prerna & asks his goons to turn her away as he doesn't want to meet her as a don. He confronts Ryan at his DJ club, when Prerna walks in & Ryan tells him that Prerna is his very good friend. Actually, Ryan didn't even know Prerna, he just took advantage of the knowledge that Sattar was interested in her. But Ryan manages to get Sattar a date with Prerna & then proceeds to teach him manners. At the dinner Prerna is only interested in getting Sattar to help her get the insurance money. Sattar goes on his best behavior & is honest with Prerna. She has a nice evening with her, but says she is not interested in him. Because of Sattar Anil & Neha get back together. Sattar visits Chandu's house & threatens Arjun. This puts him online & he gets a job. He also helps Ryan get a job with a music company & finally impresses Prerna enough that she falls in love with him. Sattar becomes a respected politician & cracks down on unfair lending practices by banks.

Colonel Suryaveer "Surya" Singh (Amitabh Bachchan) is a bitter man and ex-Army officer, hired by his friend and former comrade Captain Shekhar Verma (Arjun Rampal) (Shekhar lives in Bangkok and runs a strip club) to protect a little girl, Anamika R. Rathore (Rucha Vaidya), who resides in Bangkok, Thailand with her Non-resident Indian (NRI) family. Mother Nikasha (Perizaad Zorabian) & father Ravi (Vikram Chatwal). The family is wealthy and is worried with the spate of increasing kidnappings in the city. They are looking for an armed bodyguard for Anamika. Ravi hires Surya after he admits that he has a drinking problem. Surya promises to put his life on the line for the job. Kripa "Krispi" Shankar (Daya Shankar Pandey). an Indian, gives Surya information and goods & befriends him. Surya drinks alcohol frequently (he accidentally shot two children while serving as a soldier in the Kashmir Valley. Surya did this to save Shekhar's life and was captured by the terrorists. He was tortured for 3 days. Shekhar then mounted a rescue operation, took 2 bullets and killed 5 terrorists to save Surya), and is not interested in befriending the girl. Nikasha also approaches Surya and asks for a friend or Anamika, but Surya is rude to her and says that he will be a bodyguard and nothing else. Nikasha is offended and walks away. Eventually, Anamika wins Surya's heart and he helps her to prepare for a swim meet (Anamika was losing precious seconds as she was scared of the sound of gunshot. Surya helps her overcome this fear and beat the competition). Ravi and Nikasha leave for London for Ravi's business meeting. Anamika stays behind in Surya's care. Anamika and Surya bond, and eventually Ravi and Nikasha return. Nikasha is happy to see Surya close to Anamika.. One day Anamika gets kidnapped and Surya receives serious injuries (3 bullets on his body) in his attempt to prevent the kidnapping. ACP Harvinder "Harry" Singh (Akhilendra Mishra) is assigned to investigate the case. The kidnappers asks for $1 MM, headed by Wong (Rajendranath "Raj" Zutshi). Ravi delivers the cash as per instructions, but Harry intervenes and attacks when the cash is collected and shoots the cash collectors. In retaliation, Wong pretends to have shot Anamika dead. Shekhar breaks the news to Surya and wants him to go back to India for a few days. Surya gets to the airport, but cant board the flight. Surya vows to kill every person involved in the murder of Anamika. Surya uses his investigative skills, only to find out about the conspiracy that is behind the little girl's kidnapping. Surya works with Krispi to track the person (Lee Kap (Denzil Smith)) who originally picked up Anamika at the kidnapping location. Surya cuts off Lee's fingers post which he admits that he kidnaps targets on behalf of Sammy (Aditya Lakhia) and delivers them to Sammy's nightclub. Surya then shoots Lee. Bangkok Police Officer Inspector Kelly (Kelly Dorjee) knows that Surya has killed Lee, but offers to help Surya in his mission to bring down the kidnapping gang. Surya reaches the nightclub and figures that Sammy's nightclub was just a transit point to Wong, who was the caller to Ravi and Nikasha. Sammy also reveals that Harry stole the ransom money after shooting the cash collectors. Surya takes Shekhar's help and gets weapons. He tracks and attacks Harry in full force. Surya puts a bomb up Harry's ass. Harry confesses that he stole the ransom money, but it was only $0.5 MM and not the full $ 1 MM. He says Chang (Ravi's lawyer) had kept the money in the car and hence must have stolen it. Surya goes to Chang's house and finds many financial papers. Surya confronts Ravi next. Ravi engineered his daughter's kidnapping so he could receive US$500,000, without the knowledge of his wife, Nikasha. Anamika had kidnapping insurance for $ 1 MM, provided through Ravi's company. Ravi stole half the amount and deposited it in his personal account. Chang had promised Ravi that Anamika would be returned two days after her kidnapping. Surya gives Ravi the gun and bullet that Surya had used in a suicide attempt, so Ravi could commit suicide. Ravi shoots himself. Surya attacks Chang and learns that Wong is Chang's brother. Wong reveals that Anamika is still alive. Surya holds Chang hostage, while Chang's brother Wong holds Anamika hostage. When they come to exchange the people, Chang's brother reveals a great secret to Surya. Surya learns that Shekhar was all behind this (Shekhar runs the biggest kidnapping squad in Thailand). Surya kills Wong's men. A great fight between Shekhar and Surya starts. Shekhar is killed, and Surya spends the rest of his life with Anamika and her mother. In the end, Anamika (Lara Dutta) gets a new bodyguard and the film shows her during her swimming practice, with Surya and her new bodyguard (Abhishek Bachchan) 15 years later.

Two British nationals (who were tiger experts investigating the large scale poaching of tigers in Indian National Parks) are killed by a ferocious tiger in Corbett National Park in India. This incident is followed by several other tiger attacks, and many deaths result, prompting National Geographic to send a correspondent, Krish Thapar (John Abraham) to the national park and ascertain what really happened. Thapar is accompanied by his wife Riya (Esha Deol). Bashir Khan (Parmeet Sethi) is the forest officer suspected of facilitating poaching in all National Parks that he is assigned to. A group of youngsters, consisting of Dev Malhotra (Vivek Oberoi), his girlfriend Ishika (Lara Dutta), Sajid (Kushal Punjabi) and Vishal (Vishal Malhotra), are on a hunting trip in the hopes of sighting and shooting some big prey. The youngsters' car breaks down (After Dev hits a black cat which Ishika considers very very bad luck). Bagga (Vineet Sharma), a passing by driver, gives them a lift to the farmhouse they were heading towards. Bagga convinces the group to head towards the Orbit National Park for some big game hunting. Bagga tells them that venturing into the core area of the jungle is prohibited and is very dangerous. Bagga's car accidentally hits Krish's, which also breaks down and is at the middle of the road. The two groups decide to travel together in Bagga's car, leaving a mechanic repairing Krish's car. Just a few seconds they set off, the mechanic disappears, and they believe a tiger just took him away and decide not to risk their lives to look for him. Bagga finds them a place to stay -- a guesthouse owned by Pandey (Daya Shankar Pandey). Pandey is a guide who agrees to lead them the next day to the core area, where tigers live, for hunting. Pandey disappears the very night and his body is found in the wild the next day by Bashir Khan, with his head chopped off. Krish starts to be suspicious about the real cause of the recent rising deaths in the jungle, as he is an animal expert and recognizes Pandey is not killed by a tiger or any animal. Warned by Bashir Khan and scared, the group decide to leave the jungle. Before they depart, they find Sajid missing, again not by an animal. Dev, close friend to Sajid, assumes the latter is going to the core area alone for hunting. However, the group decide to leave without Sajid. Expectedly, Sajid joins the series of mystery deaths and is found with his head chopped off. The rest are soon confronted by three tigers on the way. Kaali Pratap Singh (Ajay Devgan), who claims to live in the jungle, saves them from the upcoming tiger attack. On their continued way out of the jungle, they find the road is blocked by rocks due to the landslide caused by rain. Kaali shows up again and agrees to lead them out of the jungle. On the way the car has a minor accident when Bagga cant take his foot off the gas pedal. The group is forced to take a break while Bagga repairs the vehicle. Kaali appears to be very knowledgeable about the jungle. Krish, who is now more curious about the mysterious deaths, asks him if he knows what's behind those deaths. Kaali answers that there was a mad guide in this jungle, who always led tourists to wrong places to make them killed by animals (he did this as he didn't like the exploitation of animals and forests by humans and wanted humans to learn a lesson). Angry villagers later found about it and beat him to death. But his spirit -- the ghost -- remains in the jungle and keeps killing tourists. But none of them believe Kaali's story. Bagga later disappears when repairing his car, rising the fear among the rest. Vishal is also killed by their car explosion a few moments later (the group tries to cross a small wooden bridge to get to the other side, but the car gets stuck and leaks gasoline. Vishal acts weird and refuses to get out of the car and is blown away when a stray cigarette that he threw in the water, ignites the fuel). The rest carry on and reach a deserted guesthouse in the evening, outside which there is a well. All go to sleep after being warned by Kaali not to get close to the well. Riya wakes up thirsty in the night. She decides to get water from the well despite Kaali's warning, and is later accidentally hung by her foot in the well and dies. The rest figure out Riya's death and try to pull out her body, while Dev suddenly realizes that Kaali does not have a reflection in well's water. He also sees that Kaali is not visible in any of the videos that had been recorded by Vishal so far. He realizes that the story Kaali told them is true and he is the ghost referred in the story. Dev makes an excuse to push Kaali off and convinces the others that Kaali is a ghost. They decide to escape from Kaali. They encounter several accidents on their way out of the jungle, apparently arranged by Kaali, but finally manage to escape. Krish now knows what's behind those mysterious deaths but he is not going to tell anyone because no one is going to believe him. Meanwhile in the jungle, Kaali keeps killing tourists.

Dina Nath is honored by the Indian Government, which is televised live. While receiving the honors, Dina Nath informs the Government that his village is still without electricity, and he is promised that electricity will be provided in his village immediately. And electricity is provided in the village. Dina Nath's son, Kanji, who is in Mumbai, hears of this and returns to the village along with a C-Band ten foot satellite dish and a super flat stereo television. When the satellite is set-up, the villagers are thrilled by the TV shows. This leads to the village priest complaining to Chotey Thakur Rudra Pratap Singh that the villagers are turning away from his temple and worship. Rudra is not concerned as he himself has a TV set in his home. But when the priest informs Rudra that his sister, Kesar and Kanji are in love, Rudra makes a threat to destroy Kanaji and all of the village in the presence of a TV crew filming the whole drama - live worldwide. —rAjOo (gunwanti@hotmail.com)
