Kamini Rai is apprehended by the police on the charges of drugs smuggling and is subsequently sentence to several years in jail. During this time she gives birth to a baby boy, Shankar who is taken to an orphanage by a police inspector. After completing her sentence Kamini gets to learn that she was framed by her spouse, Amar Rai; thus with the help of J.K, a victim of the Rai's family she begins her vendetta against them. —gavin (racktoo@hotmail.com) Kamini (Hema Malini) is an educated, pretty, and intelligent girl. She falls in love with Amar Rai (Aloknath), and both get married in a simple temple ceremony. Amar has to go to his family and prepare them to receive Kamini. Soon, Kamini is asked to come by airplane to visit the Rai family. At the airport, Kamini is stopped and searched by the police, who find that she has drugs in her possession. She is arrested, found guilty and sentenced to a long jail term. In prison she gives birth to a boy, Shankar. A kind-hearted police Inspector (Kader Khan) takes Shankar to an orphanage, but unable to withstand the oppression and hunger in the orphanage, Shankar runs away, leaving the Police Inspector to give this bad news to Kamini. When released from prison, Kamini is contacted by J.K. (Raj Babbar), who tells Kamini that he is a victim of the Rai family, and Bob (Ranjeet). J.K. wants her to co-operate with him to extract vengeance. Ashok Bansal (Jackie Shroff) is a strict industrialist, inspired by the British 'stiff upper lip'. Ashok starts hating poor people & starts working hard to become rich because his mother abandoned him with his two other siblings and left for a richer man in the past. Karim (Deven Verma) is Head Servant of the house. In the process of acquiring wealth, he becomes an unbearable disciplinarian and neglects his family consisting of his younger brother Anil (Shahrukh Khan) and sister Suneeta (Nivedita Saraf). Anil has returned home after many yrs of studies. Ashok is out of town on business and Anil throws a party to celebrate. But Ashok returns unexpectedly and yells at Anil for wasting time and money on parties as he does not like it. The next day he yells at Suneeta for being few minutes late for breakfast as she was preparing the Thali for Rakhi. Anil loves Kavita, who is a poor girl. One day Ashok sees Anil with Kavita and is livid. That night Ashok confronts Anil and says that Kavita is only after Anil for Ashok's wealth. Anil tells Ashok that he or Kavita do not care for his wealth. Anil goes against his brother's highhanded ways and marries Kavita (Nagma), a poor girl and opting to leave the house. Fenni Fernando (Anu Agarwal) is Ashok's secretary in office. Ashok gets his sister Suneeta married to a man who turns out to be a gold digger Pradeep Mallik (Dalip Tahil), although she is in love with Ashok's manager Kamal (Vivek Vaswani) (neither had the courage to go against Ashok and admit their feelings for each other). Pradeep was guided by Mr. Mallik (Bharat Kapoor), Pradeep's brother and his wife (Madhu Malhotra). They send Jairam (Viju Khote), as Marriage Mediator of Sunita and Pradeep. The wedding takes place in double quick time and Anil is not invited to it. Ashok travels to Ranigarh for a new auto-parts plant. There an orphan named Munna makes fun of him and the way he walks (while he was out touring the town). Munna lives in an orphanage under the eyes of evil caretaker Shanti (Sushmita Mukherjee). Pratap (Paresh Rawal) is Shanti's boyfriend and also runs a car theft business in town. Shanti uses the orphanage money to fund her drinking binges. Ashok finds out where Munna lives and visits the orphanage to take revenge. At the time, some journalists are visiting the orphanage. Kamal suggests Ashok should donate, but Munna advises Ashok not to donate too much as Shanti will spend it on her drinks. Ashok gives her rs 50, which makes her angry. That evening Shanti thrashes Munna badly, who has no option but to escape and who decides to hide in Ashok's car and leave for town with him. Munna (Pooja Ruparel), an orphan arrives at Ashok Bansal's house. Initially the servants think Munna is a boy and are ordered to give him a bath, but they find Munna has long hair and that she is a girl. Fenni is summoned to give Munna a bath and to get her ready. Ashok has to allow her to stay for a few days as his sudden appearance at the orphanage has done wonders for his PR and sending her back will create negative press. She creates havoc in Ashok's home (She forces Ashok to spend time with her and Fenni (who is Munna's caretaker), watch movies and so on). Meanwhile Shanti figures out that Munna is living with Ashok and calls him to threaten that he has "stolen" Munna from the orphanage and she will go to the press with this. Ashok decides to take Munna back to the Orphanage, but his car breaks down in the middle of nowhere. Ashok, Fenni and Munna are forced to take a lift in a truck. They are dropped 20 Kms from Ranigarh. They are forced to spend the night in an abandoned cottage. Fenni manages to forage some food from the local area, but Ashok refuses to touch it. The situation leads to many amorous encounters between Fenni and Ashok (including Ashok seeing Fenni completely naked). Ashok returns Munna to the orphanage the next day. Munna says that she left on her own choice, and forces Shanti to take the lawsuit back, causing a loss of millions. Ashok is happy now but misses Munna terribly. He shares with Fenni the reason why he hates the word "love" so much in his life. On the way back, a trashed Munna again blocks his car, and this time Ashok hugs Munna and brings her back with him to his estate. Ashok is much more relaxed now and values love in his life. He trims his mustache and dresses more informally. Fenni is shocked at his transformation. At her birthday, Ashok gets drunk and openly admits her love for Fenni. Meanwhile Suneeta is in hell as Pradeep sleeps with other women in front of her. Ashok misses Anil and puts out an ad in the newspaper calling him back. as luck would have it, Anil works in an auto garage owned by Pratap. Anil tells Pratap that Ashok is not his brother. On Rakhi, Ashok goes to meet Suneeta. Ashok meets Anil there. Ashok begs for forgiveness to Anil, but Anil refuses to forgive Ashok as he has done a grave injustice to Suneeta by marrying her to Pradeep, as she is treated like a servant in the house and beaten badly. Ashok beats up Pradeep black and blue and brings Suneeta home. Ashok forces Pradeep to sign the divorce papers by threatening to reveal his tax frauds and other thefts with the Govt. Ashok unites Suneeta to Kamal. Meanwhile Anil finds out that Pratap is dealing in stolen cars. As Pratap decides to kill Anil, Ashok intervenes to save him. Pratap is defeated and escapes. Shanti finds Munna is at Ashok's house. Ashok has sent an application to adopt Munna. Anil and Kavita return home. Shanti meets Ashok at his house and says Munna parents have resurfaced and want her back. Shanti offers to buy off the parents for Rs 25 Lakhs, but Ashok now senses that Shanti wants the money for herself and refuses to pay. Ashok puts a notice out in all newspapers that he is adopting Munna. Pratap and Shanti find a piece of locket in the storeroom, that Munna carries in her neck. This would be conclusive proof that whoever carries that piece is her parents. The orphanage kids hear this plan of Pratap to kill Munna after they get the money from Ashok. Pratap and Shanti disguise themselves and reach Ashok as Munna's parents. They say Munna was lost is a carnival many years ago. The piece matches and Ashok sends Munna away with them and Rs 50 Lakhs. The orphans meanwhile go to the police and ask the inspector to call and warn Ashok. The orphans tell Ashok about Shanti and Pratap's plan. Munna escapes and hides in the carnival. She had hidden the money suitcase. Ashok reaches on time and gives Pratap the money, and he wants Munna back. Anil attacks and together they both rescue Munna, while Pratap and Shanti are killed.

Prashant Verma is employ as a reporter with 'Navkranti' a media-house that publishes daily newspaper. The unlawful activities and injustice taking place in his surrounding frustrates him to the extent of single-handily revolting. The gang affected by Prashant's behavior is headed by the notorious Tavu who in retaliation abducts and sexually molest Prashant's sister Shalini which made her commits suicide. Everyday Prashant witnesses the regression within Bombay city, and watches silently and helplessly as gangsters take over the lives of ordinary citizens, with the police force - which is now synonymous with oppression itself, and a protector of the rights of criminals, gangsters who have links to politicians - being nothing but a mere paper tigers. One day he witnesses a murder of a drunk named Monto, which is written off as an accident by the police and the file is closed. He decides that he has had enough of being a by-stander, he approaches Police Commissioner Anand Deshmukh, and informs him of that he knows that Bharat Acharya has killed Monto. Thereafter, Prashant's orderly middle-classed life is turned upside down - he loses his job; his sister, Shalini is abducted, raped, traumatized to such an extent that she becomes numb with shock and subsequently kills herself. And now a shattered and devastated Prashant must decide to avenge this or re-locate to another city and try to put his life together again. Prithvi and Maggie fall in love and decide to get married, but Maggie's mother objects looking at Prithvi's past. Constant abuse at the hands of her husband forces, Prithvi's mother to commit suicide which then pushes Prithvi to murder his dad resulting in him spending his youth behind bars. Years later after his release from prison; Prithvi is unable to control his temper at the site of injustice. He meets Maggie Pinto and after a few chance meetings both falls in love. Maggie introduces Prithvi to her parents but her mother, Stella disapproves of the match because of Prithvi's violent background thus Maggie is instructed to abstain from Prithvi. But the lovers continue to meet tempting Stella to involve the police resulting in the arrest of Prithvi. Maggie and Prithvi persist, and Maggie's mom, Stella Pinto (Reeta Bhaduri) calls the police, and has Prithvi jailed. Guruji (Amjad Khan) comes to his aid, and bails him out. Twin brothers are separated at birth and in adulthood, their identities are swapped. Leela and Bholaram are a childless couple. Leela works as a midwife, and one day assists Sunderdas' wife to give birth to twin boys. She decides to keep one baby for herself, and tells Sunderdas that his wife has given birth to one child. There are complications for the mother, and she passes away without seeing her children. Leela and Bholaram bring up Kanhaiya, while Sunderdas attempts to bring up Kishen, but is unable to do a good job. So he marries Kamini, who comes along with her brother, Ghendamal, to live at the estate. She has an illegitimate child named Ramesh from another man, and when Sunderdas comes to know of this, he is threatened and attacked, and as a result of which p is paralyzed, unable to move. Kishen is brought by Kamini and Ghendamal with lot of abuse, and intimidation, and is kept illiterate, so that he can blindly sign away whatever documents he is asked to sign. Kishen likes Radha, a servant, and is married, but the atrocities do not stop, and then Kishen runs away. Ghendamal captures Kanhaiya, who also looks like Kishen, and brings him back, not realizing that the tables are now going against him. —rAjOo (gunwanti@hotmail.com) A maid-servant and her husband, Leela and Bolaram assist multi-millionaire, Seth Sundardas wife to give birth to a pair of twin baby boys. Due to immense pain for the mother she passes away after giving birth to the twin boys. The twins have a similarity that when one is in pain the other feels it. In need of a child, Leela and Bolaram decide to adopt one of the twins and thus name him Kanhaiya and bring him up in a poor environment. Seth Sundardas attempts to bring up Kishen but is unable to do a good job since the child falls short of nourishing, so he decides to re-marry a woman named Kamini the sister of cunning Gendamal. Kamini have an illegitimate child, Mahesh, of whom she brings to live at Seth's estate. Seth disapprove of keeping Mahesh and subsequently meets with an accident and is paralyzed unable to move his legs, arms and cannot talk and therefore is kept bed ridden. Taking advantage of the situation, Gendamal schemes with Kamini to grab Seth's estate and parental property and brings up his son, Kishen with a lot of abuse and lack of ancestry so that he can blindly sign away any documents present before him but Kishen refuses to endorse the document and is badly beaten and left for dead. Realizing that his brother is in pain, Kishen's twin Kanhaiya comes into the scene to teach Gendamal a lesson of a lifetime. —gavin (racktoo@hotmail.com)

By the time we learn to live, life is gone. Archana, an educated daughter of retired principal loves Professor Sukhesh. This love born out of intellectual impact is supported by the fond hopes of her father that leads to matrimonial alliance. Archana's mother is of a different class with materialistic notions of life and she too unwillingly gives her consent to the marriage. Seeds of marital love have not yet flowered into sweet joys of wedlock when whims and ego's of Archana and Sukhesh start clashing. Though a dutiful loving wife of a sweet husband, Archana is very much the daughter of her mother, who with all good intentions intervenes in the day to day life of the couple. Understanding leads to misunderstandings and the lovers start misinterpreting each other's sentiments. This ultimately leads to break in marriage - hence the ultimate- eventual separation. Kora Kagaz answers the struggle of intellectual lovers who find it difficult to enjoy marital bliss. The film is a lesson in both love and marriage. —Everest Entertainment
