Whip It opens five minutes before a beauty pageant in Bodeen, Texas, where one of the contestants is missing. Backstage, 17-year-old misfit and rebel Bliss Cavendar (Ellen Page) regrets accepting a dare from her best friend Pash (Alia Shawkat) which involved dying her hair blue before the pageant. Bliss tries to wash the dye out but ends up going on stage with her hair blue, losing the pageant, much to the disappointment of her mother, Brooke (Marcia Gay Harden). With both Bliss and her mother upset about what happened, Brooke offers to take her daughter shopping in Austin, where Bliss witnesses three roller-derby girls drop promotional fliers at a clothes shop. Mesmerized by them, Bliss takes one of the fliers and learns of an exhibition derby match and asks Pash to come with her. After the team is defeated in the exhibition, Bliss meets the Hurl Scouts, captained by Maggie Mayhem (Kristen Wiig) and coached by Razor McGee (Andrew Wilson). When Bliss tells Maggie that the Hurl Scouts are her new heroes, Maggie tells her to "Put some skates on, be your own hero." Bliss lies about her age and decides to attend try outs, keeping it a secret from her parents, who would never approve. Razor can see that Bliss has natural talent and tells her that she has made the cut, welcoming her to the Hurl Scouts. Bliss plays well in her first game, but the Hurl Scouts lose. At the after party, Bliss discovers a connection she has with Oliver (Landon Pigg), a 19-year-old lanky teenage heart breaker and guitarist. He compliments her taste in music, and as they talk, Bliss misses her chance to tell him she's a Derby Girl when she is thrown into a hot tub by Iron Maven (Juliette Lewis), the captain of The Holy Rollers - a rival Derby team. Later at the diner where Bliss works with Pash, she spots Oliver outside in his car and gets Pash to cover for her. Oliver drives Bliss to the arcade where he attempts to impress her with his pinball skills, but after that fails, the two end up driving somewhere secluded and singing together. The next night, the Hurl Scouts win their first game of the season, of which Oliver is in crowd attendance. The Scouts are forced to take their game more seriously and put faith in their coach. After Bliss' performance, she becomes the team's point scorer as their star Jammer and picks her Derby name as Babe Ruthless. As she and Oliver spend more time together, Bliss falls for him and is heartbroken when he tells her his band is going on tour around the states. Bliss develops a strong relationship with Maggie Mayhem as the Hurl Scouts climb the Derby leader boards but has trouble keeping a strong relationship with her mother, who is disappointed in her rebellious activities and her lack of interest in her beauty pageants. After the Hurl Scouts win another match, police show up at the warehouse they are held and order it to be cleared out. In the evacuation, Iron Maven overhears Bliss tell an interrogative police officer that she is only 17. Pash is spotted with a drink in her hand and arrested on the spot for being under-age. Bliss however has disappeared with Oliver and is of no support. Late that night, the two of them break into a public swimming pool where they make love and spend the night together, trading shirts to remember each other while he's away. In the morning, Bliss comes home to her angry parents who received a phone-call from Pash's parents and know about her involvement in Roller Derby. Bliss argues with her mother who is furious that she lied, however Bliss shoots back that she is sick of her mom forcing a housewife lifestyle on her, and she just wants to be her own person. When Iron Maven threatens to tell the League about Bliss' real age, she breaks and is forced to reveal it to her own team. Despite being shocked, the Hurl Scouts accept her and prepare for their final match. Bliss misses Oliver terribly, who won't return her calls. After she looks on his band's website, she finds a photo of him with another girl wearing the shirt Bliss gave him. She is heartbroken and seeks support from her mother, and the two make up with Bliss promising to compete in the Blue Bonnet Pageant, an annual event and very important to Brooke. She is later horrified to discover that the pageant and the final Derby Match between The Hurl Scouts and the Holy Rollers fall on the same night. She decides that her relationship with her mother is more important and attends the pageant. Meanwhile Bliss' father (Daniel Stern) finds footage and promotional photos of her on the website and realizes how much she enjoys being Babe Ruthless. He talks Brooke into letting Bliss skip the pageant for her chance at happiness. Minutes before the League Championship, Bliss is confronted by Oliver who has returned from his tour. She accuses him of cheating on her, and when he denies, she is still heartbroken that he never called and breaks up with him. Babe Ruthless and Iron Maven go head to head on the track, with the game neck and neck for its duration. The Holy Rollers barely defeat the Hurl Scouts, who are shattered at first but get past it, chanting "We're number two!" which is what they shouted when they lost their first match. While still upset with Bliss, Brooke finds the script to her daughter's speech that she would have read had she attended the pageant, in which she claims her mother to be the person she admires most. Pash is accepted into a college in New York, whereas Bliss pursues her love for Roller Derby and expresses interest in moving to Austin. The film closes with Bliss sitting on the roof of the diner, reflecting on her life as of late.

His emotions at the table seem to overshadow his mastery in playing poker. Even he is tad ahead of his father (L.C.Cheever), a legendary poker player played by Robert Duvall. The only common skill which Huck and Billie shares is an intuitive ability of reading people. However difference lies in what they do. On one hand Huck's gut feel enables him to gain advantage over his opponents at the poker table by cleverly avoiding any sort of emotional attachments and long term commitments in his personal life. While on the other hand, Billie utilizes her intuitive talents in seeking emotional truths of those around her and subsequently shares their sorrows. But when Huck and Billie meet the real game starts. If Huck has to win over Billie then he needs to play cards the way he has been living his life and lead life in a manner he has been playing cards.

Enter Sophie Fisher, subbing for a friend who waters Alex's plants; she's a pretty good poet, quick witted, and could do it, if she'd agree. But there's some sort of shadow over her head that Alex may not be able to charm his way past. There is no guarantee that Cora will actually record the song as she has made arrangement for other retro artists to write back-up material if Alex's song is not to her liking. Alex has a problem in that he was never good at writing lyrics, and is having issues with the lyricist he has chosen for the collaboration. He thinks he has come up with a solution when his temporary plant watering person, Sophie Fisher, starts humming some of her own made up and good lyrics to Alex's tune. Sophie is an unconfident woman and a hypochondriac, who believes that, although she writes, she is not a lyricist who can come up with words to Alex's very specific song. Even if Alex is able to convince Sophie to help him, he will have to help her overcome her emotional problems in life, most specifically around her own current minor notoriety concerning her now love/hate relationship with author, Sloan Cates, who has put his skewed version of their life on paper in the form of a best selling novel. If Sophie does assist him, she may learn the hard way of the compromises that often accompany the creative process, some of those compromises with which she may not be able to live. —Huggo Cheery Alex Fletcher faded into to background of the Manhattan pop scene after his partner split away from their hit band PoP, singing their old PoP songs at cheesy retrospective gigs. His first comeback opportunity is when current singing sensation Cora Corman, a huge PoP fan, commissions him to write a duet for the two of them, to be entitled "Way Back into Love", but to be completed by the end of the week. Lacking inspiration and confidence to match the melody he writes easily, Alex notices his plant watering help Sophie Fisher, starts humming some of her own made up and good lyrics to his tune and decides to hire the hypochondriac without self-confidence, but must deal with her distracting personal issues if they are to make the deadline. Once they deliver it, Cora's absurd, irreverent 'arrangement' causes discord whether to fight for the song or go along for the money, while Cupid strings his bow. —KGF Vissers

A clumsy, mischievous, friendly and curious monkey named George (Frank Welker) lives in the jungles of Africa. George is a curious creature and tries to learn as much as he can about everything. His behavior amuses the other young jungle animals but angers their parents. Therefore, George is left sad and alone. Meanwhile, at the Bloomsberry Museum, Ted (Will Ferrell), a museum employee and a tour guide living in New York City, teaches schoolchildren about natural history, not realizing that his lectures bore them. Afterward, he has a talk with Maggie (Drew Barrymore), the schoolteacher, who admires him and for whom he has strong feelings. Maggie brings her class to the museum every Thursday and finds Ted's talks amazing and insightful. Later, Mr. Bloomsberry (Dick Van Dyke), the owner of the museum, tells Ted that he is pressed to close the museum by his son, Bloomsberry Junior (David Cross), who wishes to build a parking garage in its stead. Bloomsberry says that the old exhibits of the museum are simply not pulling in the crowds needed and nothing is selling from the gift shop. As such, Bloomsberry says that the museum is broke. Junior says that the parking lot would have high hourly rates and no daily maximums. Ted is enraged and says that the world needs places where kids can visit and allow their knowledge and imagination to grow. This upsets Ted, who suggests, to revive the museum's popularity, that they obtain a 40-foot statue called the Lost Shrine of Zagawa. The statue is made of twenty tons of granite, carved by a thousand craftsmen over a hundred years. Mr. Bloomsberry is too old to go as he can barely stand, but Ted quickly volunteers to make the expedition. Bloomsberry offers to share his maps and journals with Ted, to help him find the shrine in the jungle. Jealous of Ted's constant praise from his dad, Junior burns half the map to sabotage the exhibition without them knowing. Ted is tricked into purchasing a yellow safari outfit with a yellow hat and boards a cargo ship to Africa, becoming humiliated in front of other passengers. In Africa, Ted leads a group on a four-day hike to the lost shrine. Ted is led by a local guide named Edu. George spots the yellow hat and, mistaking it for a large banana, follows the group. They soon notice each other and become friends. When Ted reaches the end of Junior's sabotaged map, he encounters a miniature idol. Believing this to be Zagawa itself, he gets depressed. On the resting place of the idol was an inscription that talked about turning the idol into a beam of light to reveal further secrets, but Ted ignores it. He gets a call from Mr. Bloomsberry and sends a picture of the statue. However, the angle of the picture causes Mr. Bloomsberry to believe the idol is much bigger. Ted returns to the docks, while George quickly follows with the hat. George sneaks onto the ship and rides to the city without Ted's knowledge. Upon arrival, Ted rides home in a taxi, and George follows him all the way to his apartment. Ted returns home and finds advertisements for the shrine all over the city. In Ted's apartment building, the monkey makes his way to the penthouse and vandalizes the walls of Ted's neighbor, Miss Plushbottom, with paint. Ted is evicted for violating a no-pets rule. Upset, Ted wonders what he is going to do with George. Together, they walk to the Bloomsberry Museum, where crowds of people await to see the idol. Junior overhears Ted complaining about the tiny idol and uses this to humiliate Ted. George inadvertently destroys a dinosaur skeleton, and Junior shoves Ted out of the museum. With nowhere to go, Ted and George sleep in a park. The next morning, Ted awakes to find George gone. Ted follows the monkey into the zoo, where Maggie and her students name the monkey "George" after a nearby statue of George Washington. Ted attempts to court Maggie, but George starts floating away, suspended by a bunch of balloons, and Ted goes after him in the same way. Together, they fly around the city, held aloft by Ted's balloons and using a kite to control their direction. When they float over the Bloomsberry museum, Ted holds out the idol and wishes it were big, which gives him an idea. Ted visits Clovis, an inventor who built the museum's Zagawa exhibit, who has a projection machine that can create a 40-foot-tall hologram of any object. Ted takes the projector to the museum, intending to use it to display the idol. He shows it to Mr. Bloomsbury, who agrees it would save the museum. Still jealous, Junior pours coffee on the projector and frames George when the projector breaks. A defeated Ted informs the public that the museum will permanently close and that there is no idol. Ted has a falling-out with George and orders him to leave, allowing Animal Control to capture George to be returned to Africa. Ted takes a walk through the city alone and is constantly reminded of his fun with George and his mischief. He speaks with Maggie, who helps him understand what is important in life. Ted gets on the cargo ship and frees George. While he tries to explain to George that their friendship is more important than any idol, a beam of sunlight passes through the tiny statue, creating a Pictogram showing the location of the full-size idol. Ted then realizes the true meaning of an ancient writing he saw back in Africa. Ted and George therefore travel to Africa in the ship's cargo bay, to rejoin Edu, Ted's guide, and find the true idol. The real idol is displayed in the museum, which reopens with new exhibits and Ted is praised as a hero for saving the institution. During the reopening celebration, Junior gets a job as a valet and receives acknowledgment from his father, Ivan has grown fond of George and invites Ted to return to his apartment and Ted and Maggie share a romantic moment, but are interrupted by George, who has activated a rocket ship before Ted jumps in and they repeatedly circumnavigate the globe.

In 1940, Chuck Barris' (Sam Rockwell) sole purpose through his teenage years (Michael Cera) in Philadelphia concerns promiscuity, but he is unsuccessful despite numerous attempts with a wide variety of girls and women. Inspired by a television advertisement in 1955, he moves to Manhattan to become an NBC page. He dreams of becoming famous in television. Chuck had applied for the management trainee program at NBC, but he lies on his application form since 2000 people had applied for just 5 positions. He hooks up with a fellow Page Georgia (Jennifer Hall) and she gets pregnant. Thats when Chuck finds that he has been fired. Turns out Georgia was just late on her period. Chuck moves back to Philadelphia and becomes Dick Clark's personal assistant on American Bandstand in 1961. He hooks up with Debbie (Maggie Gyllenhaal), an ABC executive, as he still chases fame and fortune. There, he writes the successful "Palisades Park" song and falls in love with a woman named Penny Pacino (Drew Barrymore), who is Debbie's roommate. It was with Penny that Chuck gets an idea for a dating show. Chuck is given permission to pitch the concept for The Dating Game at the American Broadcasting Company (ABC); he receives $7,500 to create a television pilot for the studio. However, ABC abandons The Dating Game in favor of Hootenanny. One night after Barris is kicked out of a bar for fighting, he is approached by CIA agent Jim Byrd (George Clooney), who recruits him as an assassin. Jim convinces Chuck by saying that he can teach him how to win at bar fights and he would earn good money as well. Chuck is mainly interested as he has heard stories that spies get to have sex with Eastern European girls. Chuck is put through basic CIA training. Chuck scores very highly at sniper shooting. Returning from a mission in Mexico in 1964 where he kills his first target, Chuck finds that Penny has become a hippie. Meanwhile, ABC decides to green-light The Dating Game. Initially, the network executives are appalled by the lewd comments made by the participants on the show and Chuck argues that the spontaneity of the show is part of its charm. Chuck is forced to hire Peter Jenks to ensure that participants keep it strictly PG-13 on the show. By 1967 the TV show is a phenomenon. Chuck gets a prime-time slot for the show. Jim suggests that the prize money can be more lucrative, and the winners can go on a supervised trip to Europe or Southeast Asia. And this could be Chuck's cover to go on CIA missions around the world. Chuck takes another mission for the CIA in Helsinki, Finland, where he meets gorgeous operative Patricia Watson (Julia Roberts). Chuck finds more success back home when The Newlywed Game goes on air. He and Penny decide to move to Los Angeles into a house, but Chuck is cautious of marriage, much to Penny's dismay. The journey in Barris' life is tied into the story of Thomas Carlyle's main character in Sartor Resartus, Teufelsdrockh, and this parallel is referred to throughout the film. In 1970, Jim convinces Chuck to go on another mission in West Berlin to assassinate communist Hans Colbert. There, Chuck is introduced to German American agent Keeler (Rutger Hauer) and is held captive by the KGB for some weeks when he infiltrates into East Germany. He is eventually traded to the US in exchange for one of the Russian agents. In 1976 Los Angeles, Chuck creates The Gong Show and becomes even more famous as its host. He is also criticized for the decline of quality television. Meanwhile, in 1979 Keeler is murdered (although it is reported as a suicide), and Jim warns Chuck of a mole in the agency. Chuck's TV shows are canceled due to poor ratings and his relationship with Penny becomes complex. One night, Chuck finds Jim sitting atop the diving board of his backyard pool. Jim reveals to Chuck why he "fit the profile" for the CIA's recruitment policy of assassins. Jim cites details from Chuck's early childhood which seem to predestine him to become a killer. During the conversation Jim mysteriously dies, which leads to Chuck becoming traumatized with past reflections of his CIA and television career. After almost having a nervous breakdown on his own show, Chuck shuts himself away in a New York City hotel. Penny manages to find him there in 1981 but tries in vain to convince him to return to California to get married. Chuck still refuses. Chuck finally leaves his room and confronts Patricia in Boston. There, he finds that she is the mole Jim warned him about. Chuck kills Patricia and begins to write his autobiography, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. He finally decides to marry Penny. After the ceremony, he confesses to her his double life as a CIA agent and assassin, but she merely laughs, assuming he is making a joke, and he decides not to correct her. In 2002, he prepares for an interview for the film adaptation of his autobiography.

A single mother, with dreams of becoming a writer, has a son at the age of 15 in 1965, and goes through a failed marriage with the drug-addicted father. Seriocomic story based on the memoir by Beverly Donofrio, the movie follows a young woman who finds her life radically altered by an event from her teen years. Born in 1950, Beverly grew up bright and ambitious in a working-class neighborhood in Connecticut; her father was a tough but good-hearted cop who listened to his daughter's problems, and her mother was a nervous woman eager to imagine the worst. From an early age, Beverly displays a keen intelligence and an interest in literature, and dreams of going to college in New York and becoming a writer. However, she also develops an early interest in boys, and at 15 finds herself madly in love with a boy from her high school. However, an attempt to get his attention leads to an embarassing incident at a party, and Ray, a sweet but thick-headed 18-year-old, steps forward to defend her. Beverly and Ray end up making out, and after one thing leads to another, Beverly discovers she's pregnant. Telling Ray is only marginally less difficult than informing her parents, and at 16, Beverly is a wife and mother. Against the odds, Beverly is determined to still finish high school and go on to college, but that goal becomes more difficult with time, especially after Beverly's marriage begins to fall apart. Ray tries to do the right thing but has trouble holding a job, and becomes addicted to heroin.

Lydia claims that she did not do anything wrong, but Sam can guess that Lydia messed up again and Casper could not risk more embarrassment to hit his campaign. Lydia knows that Casper banished them as having an illegitimate grandchild would not look good on the campaign trail. Sam started writing the day his grandfather banished him and his mother from North Carolina. Sam promises not to skip the good parts, unlike the other writers as his story is not about self-pity. Lydia drives 2000 miles with the top down. She could not read a map, so Sam navigated. Arriving in Wyoming, Lydia only wants to have a good time, and Sam is never allowed to call her "Mom" (she wants him to call her "Lydia"). Lydia decides to break away from her usual habits & start a new life in Wyoming. Lydia's liberal ways cause quite a stir in small town Gro Vant, Wyoming. Sam soon finds out that he is one of only two students in Gro Vant High School who can read. Sam is the only one who seems to ask questions during class and challenges the opinion of the teachers, while the others are simply OK to memorize whatever is taught in class. The other one is Maurey (Mischa Barton), a girl at the same age as Sam who wants to learn about sex. Maurey is Sam's neighbor. Maurey's mother Laurabel (Peggy Lipton) takes a welcome basket for Lydia, but Lydia is offended at being typecast as a housewife and shuts the door on Laurabel's face. Lydia is a scandal in a largely conservative town. All the single men lust after Lydia, who is bored with the same old, wants to try "something new". Dot (Andrea Menard) is the waitress at the local diner where Lydai and Sam have their meals. Sam is forced to join the football team as the coach cannot conduct practice till he has 22 players and he is one short. The coach is also Sam's English team and threatens him with failing the class, if he does not comply. Maurey and Sam don't get along at first but are united in their grief when President Kennedy is shot in Texas. Hank admonishes Lydia for teaching sex games to Sam & Maurey when they were only 14. He places the blame of Maurey's pregnancy squarely on Lydia, who allowed this to happen on her watch. Maurey moves to Lydia's and Sam's house, since her father banishes her from his house. Meanwhile, Hank Elkrunner falls for the feckless Lydia, while her dictatorial dad keeps tabs on them all from afar. In the end, Maurey decides not to have an abortion and keeps the baby, a little girl named Shannon. After being threatened to be financially cut off unless she breaks up with Hank, and lets Sam go to Military School, Lydia decides to stay with Hank, and takes a job at the local diner. In addition, Hank sells his trailer and moves in with Sam and Lydia, along with Maurey and Shannon who decide to permanently move in. The film ends with Sam finishing the flashback for the story, with Shannon nearby. Throughout the movie, Sam has many dream fantasies which star Drew Barrymore as the subject of his fantasies. In one scenario Drew is a nurse, comforting Sam on his deathbed due to the exile, and Casper repenting and seeking his forgiveness. In the scenario, after his wet dream, Drew is a sexy seductress, who helps "make a man out of him" by having sex with him 5 times in a single day.

Robbie's band includes George Stitzer (Alexis Arquette) keyboardist and singer, Randy Razz (Teddy Castellucci) and John Vana (Teddy Castellucci). At Robbie's latest wedding gig, he saves the wedding toast from being ruined by the groom's alcoholic brother David Veltri (Steve Buscemi) and catches the eye of a waitress at the function, named Julia (Drew Barrymore). Afterwards, they both tell how they are engaged: Robbie to his girlfriend Linda (Angela Featherstone), and Julia to her boyfriend, Glenn (Matthew Glave). Noting Robbie's handling of the situation inside the wedding, Julia wants him to sing at her wedding, to which Robbie happily agrees to. Linda's fiance, businessman and bond investor Glenn Gulia, has yet to set a date. They have been engaged for 2 years and now Linda is starting to doubt Glenn's intentions. She even moved to Ridgefield so she could be closer to him. Angie (Christina Pickles) is Julia's mother and asks her to fake a pregnancy to pressure Glenn into marrying her quickly. Eventually, Robbie and Linda's wedding day arrives, and everyone is there, except for Linda. It soon becomes apparent that Linda has decided not to go through with the wedding, leaving Robbie heartbroken and despondent. After the wedding is called off, Linda meets with Robbie and reveals that she fell in love with him for his ambitions of being a rock star with his band called "Final Warning", which was 6 years ago. She reveals her concerns of ending up being stuck in Richfield, married to Robbie, and raising kids in his sister Kate's (Jodi Thelen) basement. Kate is married to Andy (Frank Sivero) and has 2 kids Tyler (Patrick McTavish) and Petey (Gemini Barnett). Robbie sinks into depression, causing his friends and family to be concerned. Robbie's brother Sammy (Allen Covert) attempts to get him to snap out of his misery and play another wedding gig. However, Robbie's sour mood disrupts the wedding toast, in which he insults the bride's father, and breaks into a dour rendition of the song, "Love Stinks." Julia meets with Robbie afterwards, hoping that he'll still play for her and Glenn's wedding. However, he now expresses doubt about participating. Eventually, Robbie's spirits start to perk up, and he ends up doing a Bat Mitzvah with Julia acting as a waitress. After the festivities, Julia asks Robbie if he'll help her plan her wedding. Robbie agrees, and along with his brother Sammy, and Julia's cousin Holly (Christine Taylor). They do everything from trying wedding cakes, to hiring a limo driver (of which Sammy is the only one in town). Robbie eventually goes out for a party with Holly, Julia, and Julia's fiance, Glenn. At the party, Robbie gets to see that Glenn is anything but a nice guy, as he notices Glenn has no problems ogling other women on the dance floor. Robbie learns from Glenn that he cheats on Julia frequently and plans to continue after they are married. After everyone leaves, Holly tries to hook up with Robbie, but soon sees that he likes Julia. Julia and Robbie are increasingly confused by their deepening feelings for each other. When Holly tells Robbie that Julia is marrying Glenn for his money, he unsuccessfully pursues a job at a bank. Julia is dismayed at his materialism, and when he accuses her of the same, she becomes angry with him. Depressed, he decides to follow Sammy's example of only having shallow relationships with women, in response to which Sammy confides that he is unhappy and encourages Robbie to tell Julia how he feels. Robbie grapples with his feelings, and eventually decides to tell Julia his true feelings. Meanwhile, Julia confides in her mother that she has fallen out of love with Glenn and has developed feelings for Robbie, and bursts into tears thinking about becoming "Mrs. Julia Gulia". However, upon arriving at her place, Robbie sees her in a window, in her wedding dress, speaking into a mirror (unheard to Robbie, she is saying his name, practicing saying she's 'Mrs Robbie Hart'). Heartbroken, Robbie leaves to get drunk and finds Glenn in the midst of his Pre-wedding bachelor party, arm in arm with another woman. After a heated exchange, Glenn punches Robbie and mocks him. Robbie stumbles home to find Linda waiting for him wanting to reconcile and passes out. The following morning, Linda answers the door and introduces herself as his fiance to a crestfallen Julia. She runs to Glenn, who is sleeping off the events of the previous night and tells him she wants to be married immediately. He offers to take her to Las Vegas reluctantly. Robbie awakens and, after shaking off his hangover from the previous night, rejects Linda's reconciliation, having realized how shallow she is during his time with Julia, and kicks her out. At the 50th wedding anniversary party of his neighbor Rosie, to whom he has been giving singing lessons, he realizes he wants to grow old with Julia and, with Rosie's encouragement, he decides to pursue her. Just then, Holly arrives and informs him of Julia's encounter with Linda, so Robbie rushes to the airport and gets a first-class ticket to Las Vegas. After telling his story to his empathetic fellow passengers, which include Billy Idol, Robbie learns that Glenn and Julia are on the same flight. With the help of Billy and the flight crew, over the loudspeaker, he sings a song he has written called "Grow Old with You", dedicated to Julia. As Robbie enters the main cabin singing, Glenn tries to assault him only to be thwarted and shoved into a lavatory by the flight attendants with assistance from Billy and a large fan. Robbie and Julia admit their love for each other and share a kiss. Billy, impressed by Robbie's song, offers to tell his record company executives about him. Later, Robbie and Julia are married, and a band led by Robbie's friend David performs at their wedding.

In the small town of Woodsboro, California, high school student Casey Becker (Drew Barrymore) receives a flirtatious phone call from an unknown person, asking her, "What's your favorite scary movie?". They discuss horror films until the caller turns sadistic. Casey is alarmed when the caller claims to be looking at her. Casey is alone at home in a secluded house. The caller knows that even if Casey calls the police, they will never get there in time. The caller threatens her life and revealing that her boyfriend, Steve (Kevin Patrick Walls), is tied up on her patio, which Casey can see when she turns on the patio lights. The caller demands she answer questions about horror films to save his life, but Casey gives an incorrect answer about Friday the 13th, resulting in Steve's death. When Casey refuses to cooperate with the caller, she is attacked and stabbed to death by someone wearing a "Ghostface" costume. Before dying, Casey was able to remove the Ghostface mask to uncover the identity of the killer. Her parents come home to find her body hanging from a tree with all her intestines hanging out. The following day, the news media descend on the town and a police investigation begins. Meanwhile, Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) struggles with the impending one-year anniversary of her mother's murder by Cotton Weary. The trauma has made her unable to consummate her relationship with her boyfriend, Billy Loomis whom she has been seeing for 2 years. Her father Neil is traveling for work and will be back on the coming Sunday. While waiting at home for her friend, Tatum Riley (Rose McGowan), Sidney receives a threatening phone call. After she hangs up, she is attacked by Ghostface, who disappears just before her boyfriend Billy Loomis (Skeet Ulrich) climbs through her window. After Billy drops his cell phone, Sidney suspects him of making the call and flees. Billy is arrested and Tatum takes Sidney to her house. Billy is arrested by Deputy Sheriff Dewey Riley, Tatum's brother. Reporter Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox) is covering the story & Sidney hits her when she comes to her for questioning. Gale is writing a book about Sidney's mother's convicted killer Cotton Weary. Gale had written a book claiming that Maureen had multiple extramarital affairs, including one with Cotton, whom Gale believes was falsely accused of Maureen's homicide. Gale believes that Cotton was wrongly convicted of murder due to Sidney's testimony. She believes that Sidney saw someone leaving the house with Cotton's blood-soaked jacket, which was later planted in Cotton's car, implicating him. Cotton admits to having sex with Sidney's mother on the night of her murder. Sidney sticks to her story. Billy is released the next day, when the previous night Sidney receives another threatening phone call, while Billy was in the locker. Suspicion has shifted to Sidney's father, Neil Prescott (Lawrence Hecht), as the calls have been traced to his phone, but the police are unable to locate him. Following his release, Billy encounters Sidney at school and further upsets her by comparing his absent mother to Maureen's death. School is suspended in the wake of the murders. After the students have left the school, Principal Himbry (Henry Winkler) is stabbed to death in his office. Billy's friend Stu Macher (Matthew Lillard) throws a party to celebrate the school's closure. The party is attended by Sidney, Tatum, their friend Randy Meeks, and several other students. Gale attends uninvited to cover the situation, as she expects the killer to strike. Deputy sheriff Dewey Riley (David Arquette) also looks out for the murderer at the party. Tatum is killed during the party after having her head crushed by the garage door. As fellow high school student Randy Meeks details the rules of surviving a horror film, news arrives of Himbry's murder. Most party-goers leave to see his body, nearly running over Dewey and Gale while inadvertently leading them to a hidden car, which they investigate. Billy arrives to speak to Sidney privately, and the two ultimately consummate their relationship. Only Sidney, Billy, Randy, Stu, and Gale's cameraman Kenny (W. Earl Brown) remain at the secluded house. After having sex, Sidney and Billy are attacked by the killer, who seemingly murders Billy. Sidney escapes the killer and seeks help from Kenny, but he gets his throat slit by the killer. Sidney again flees. Gale and Dewey, having discovered that the car belongs to Neil Prescott, return to the house. They believe Neil is the killer and has come to the party to continue his spree. Gale attempts to leave the scene in her van but drives off the road and crashes to avoid hitting Sidney. Meanwhile, Dewey is stabbed in the back while investigating in the house, and Sidney takes Dewey's gun. Stu and Randy appear and accuse each other of being the killer. Sidney retreats into the house, where she finds Billy wounded but still alive. She gives Billy the gun. Billy lets Randy into the house and shoots him. Billy reveals he has feigned his injuries and is actually the killer, with Stu being his accomplice. Billy and Stu discuss their plan to kill Sidney and frame her father, whom they have taken hostage, for their murder spree. The pair also admits to killing her mother, Maureen (Lynn McRee). Billy says he was motivated to seek revenge on Maureen because she was having an affair with Billy's father, Hank, which drove his mother away. They proceed to stab each other to depict themselves as the last survivors. Gale, thought dead by the killers, intervenes, and Sidney takes advantage of this to turn the tables on her attackers, killing Stu by dropping a television set on his head. Randy is revealed to be wounded but alive. Billy nearly stabs Sidney but is shot by Gale. After Randy remarks that horror film killers revive for a final scare, Billy lunges for them, but Sidney shoots him in the head, killing him. As dawn breaks, Neil is rescued, Dewey is taken away by ambulance, and Gale provides an impromptu news report about the night's events.

A teenage girl and her father driving cross-country become stranded when their car runs out of gas in a remote Nevada desert town and they're forced to stay in a dilapidated trailer park where a serial killer lurks. Charlie Cox is a divorced writer who lives in Los Angeles. Charlie and his daughter Joleen are on their way home from a cross country vacation when they run out of gas in Banco, Nevada; a tiny town located in a remote part of the desert. It's one day before Jolene's 14th birthday. Charlie and Joleen go to Banco's only gas station, which is owned by a friendly Vietnam War veteran named Duckett, but Duckett tells them that he's not expecting to have any gas delivered to the station for at least another day, so they head to the local supermarket to find a phone. Sheriff Bill Childers is in the store, and he advises them to go to the nearby Palomino Guest Ranch and Trailer Park to ask for gas. When Joleen looks behind the counter, she sees the body of the store's owner, Farrell Hovis, who was shot in the head. Sheriff Childers states that the murderer is most likely a drifter. Charlie and Joleen check into the Palomino Guest Ranch and Trailer Park, which is owned by a hostile woman named Agnes Reed. Whilst her father uses the phone, Joleen speaks to Agnes's rebellious teenage son, Jimmy Reed, who she briefly came into contact with earlier at the gas station. A chemistry between the two teenagers is implied. Joleen later meets a sandy-haired boy named Pinky Sears, who is sent away by an angry Jimmy. That night, while Agnes is taking a bath after an argument with Jimmy, she is killed when a hand reaches in through her bathroom window and pushes a small fan into the bathtub water, electrocuting her. Charlie and Joleen meet their neighbors, fellow travelers Louise and Amy, who are also stranded in Banco. By now, it is obvious that a killer is terrorizing Banco. the next day, when Jimmy tries to rape Joleen, she is rescued by Pinky, who Jimmy attempts to drown before Joleen pushes him away and runs off with Pinky. Joleen's diary is later stolen by the killer. Soon after this, Joleen and Charlie agree to car pool with Louise and Amy to leave the ranch, but the murderer, having become obsessed with Joleen, blows up the car, with Amy in it, to prevent them from leaving.
