In an undetermined future (with floating cars and other technological enhancements), society has divided in two types: upper-class or "superiors", and the rest of the world, mid and lower-class, named "inferiors". Uma (Emma Roberts) is a superior teen girl who is reluctant to marry with another superior named Son (Arnaud Valois) and falls in love of an inferior named Markus (Jeremy Irvine). Her mother sends her to Paradise Hills, a school for young ladies to reform rebel girls located in a remote island in the middle of the ocean. Basically, a behavioral modification center for women who have displeased their families. Waking up in Paradise not knowing how she arrived there, in the island she meets other students at the school: Amarna (Eiza González), a world pop star who was sent after she decided to sing her own songs against the will of her parents and the music company that produces her albums. Chloe (Danielle Macdonald), an over-weight girl which parents want to turn her in a perfect woman, thin and complaint. and Yu (Awkwafina), an inferior that after the loss of her parents was sent with her superiors aunt and uncle, who wants to make perfect and superior as them. The island is surrounded by the sea from all sides and there is no way to escape. The 4 women gradually become good friends and share their stories with each other. At the same time that Uma meets the eccentric and out-of-the-reality The Duchess (Milla Jovovich), Paradise Hills' headmaster, who tries to convince Uma for changing her mind about marry Son as her mother wants. Uma starts to suspect a hidden purpose behind of the luxury of the facility, its elegant staging and the daily sessions of make-up, hairdressing, good manners, holographic projections (of expected behavior) and therapy to make them perfects. While Amarna and Uma plot a plan to escape, Uma is shocked when Markus appears suddenly as part of the Paradise Hills' staff. A jealous Amarna tells Uma to be careful and reveals that she has her own secret plan to escape as her fans have smuggled her a rowboat (The mainland is only 10 miles away) she and Uma can use to leave. But now, Uma has no interest in escaping and wants to spend time with Markus. Uma confides in Markus about Amarna's escape plans. Before they can put their plan into action, Amarna is informed that she has graduated early. She tells Uma to rescue herself and Markus. Before she leaves, Amarna also reveals that the milk the women drink each day is drugged so they sleep through the night. Amarna parts from Uma with a kiss. After a treatment during which Uma is forced to watch old news reports of her father's suicide, Uma reacts badly and is drugged and put into solitary confinement. She awakens two weeks later and meets with the Duchess, who runs the Paradise program. Learning that she will be sent home the next day, Uma decides to leave and convinces Chloe and Yu to run away with her in the night. Before they can escape, Yu is taken to an operating room for a final treatment. Uma manages to avoid drinking the milk and investigates Paradise Hills at night for her own risk, discovering the terrible truth: all the island is a giant control room to study the students' behavior and appearance in order to be replicated by inferior girls hired to replace them when they "back" to the world after the original is killed. With time running against her, Uma and the rest of the girls must find a way to survive before they are the next to be replaced. When Uma and Chloe try to rescue Yu, the doctors attack them, and the women are forced to kill them. Yu is badly injured in the skirmish. Uma learns that Markus never intended to rescue her but was hired by Paradise to determine her behavior in sexual situations. As Uma and her friends run from the guards, they stumble into a room where they meet their "Replicants"; poor and lower-class women who have undergone extensive plastic and cosmetic surgeries and been trained to mimic the voices and personalities of the patients so they can assume their identities. Uma makes a passionate speech to all the doubles about why all of this is completely wrong and that the doubles are being used. Yu dies and Chloe and Uma are forced to move on without her, but before they go, Uma leaves behind her memory locket of her father for her replacement and tells her that in order to fully embody Uma, she must hate Son, the man responsible for her father's death. Uma and Chloe make their way into a garden where they see the lifeless bodies of former Paradise captives, including Amarna, ensnared in rose thorns. Uma sees the Duchess, who is revealed to be a Vampiric rosebush, feeding on Chloe's body and is wrapped up in vines as the Duchess prepares to make her next victim. However, Uma's Replicant saves her by pretending to be the real Uma, distracting the Duchess enough so that Uma can fatally stab her with a scalpel. Uma and her Replicant, Anna, manage to escape in the rowboat. Anna reveals she cannot return to her former life and so she and Uma develop a plan. Anna returns to Uma's wealthy family pretending to be Uma and marries Son. On their wedding night, she remains downstairs while Uma herself seduces Son and stabs him before they can have sex. Anna is thus free from blame as she was downstairs among many witnesses when the murder occurred. Anna "discovers" Son's body and screams for help, now free to live her life as a wealthy widow. Uma, having secured her revenge, flees into the night to begin a new life.

Young adults Nikki Angioli and Leo Campo were staunch competitors and best friends growing up in the Little Italy neighborhood of Toronto. Their respective fathers, friends Sal Angioli and Vince Campo, ran Pizza Napoli, which made the best pizza in the neighborhood due to the combination of Nikki's paternal nona Franca Angioli's secret marinara sauce, and Leo's paternal nono Carlo Campo's secret thin crust pizza dough recipe. While Leo has stayed in Toronto working part-time at his father's pizzeria with the secret hopes of one day opening his own pizzeria, Nikki, who loved Leo while they were growing up, ran off to London five years ago hoping never to return to Toronto to get away from her past, which includes Leo himself, who she believes has turned into a ladies man solely trying to put notches in his bedpost, and Sal and Vince now in a feud of an unspecified nature following they winning best pizza in Little Italy several years ago, each subsequently having opened competing pizzerias next door to each other, which would preclude Nikki and Leo getting together even if either wanted. Nikki is working toward being a chef in her own right of anything but pizza, she at the cooking school of famed Michelin starred chef, Corinne, who seemingly has nothing nice to say about anyone, especially her students. Nikki learns that it is between her and another student, Gareth, who Corinne will choose to work at her new London restaurant, the two who will compete to produce the best menu. First, Nikki further learns that she has to deal with a visa issue, meaning that, whether or not she likes it, she has to return to Toronto for a few weeks. In inevitably running in Leo, she finds that there is still a sexual tension that exists between the two. They will have the many existing hurdles to overcome to get together, they each having to realize that they are hurdles worth overcoming, while learning some of those issues are truly non-existent. —Huggo

Led by their fellow prep school friend Joe Hunt (Ansel Elgort), a group of wealthy young men in 1980s Los Angeles come up with a plan to get-rich-quick with a Ponzi scheme. The plan ends badly for all involved when Hunt and friend Tim Pitt (Bokeem Woodbine) end up murdering investor and con man Ron Levin (Kevin Spacey). Dean Karny (Taron Egerton) is a salesman, who used to study with Joe back in High school. They both run into each other at a random hotel in Jan 1983 (6 years after high school), each with their clients. Dean was trying to sell a luxury car to his client, when he saw Joe Hunt across the room trying to sell a financial scheme to his client. Joe was always the smartest guy in the room, wearing the cheapest suit. Dean comes from middle class but was sent by his parents to the most elite prep school (The Harvard School for Boys), where he met all his rich friends, including Joe (who was a scholarship kid with no friends). Dean learned that the only trick was to fake it till you make it. Dean learned to use his wits and charms to hang out with sons of movies stars and actual royalty. Dean proposes a partnership with Joe to start an investment fund. Joe Hunt would be the brains and Dean would bring in the money through his connections. Dean asks Joe to come to Charlie Bottoms (Thomas Cocquerel) birthday party (at the hottest club in town) in the hope to get investors so that Joe could start his own shop. At the party Dean introduces Joe to Scott Biltmore (Ryan Rottman) and Kyle Biltmore (Jeremy Irvine), twins and Harvard graduates and good friends with Charlie. All the 3 boys are filthy rich. Joe fluffs his first pitch about investing in Gold (Joe's pitch is too technical and gets buried in the party mood at the club) and goes home depressed. Dean sold a Covette on behalf of Kyle and owes him $10,000. That night he reads an article on Steve Jobs (who made computer technology "Simple") and decides to make investing "Simple". He launches the BBC or Billionaire Boys Club with Dean as his partner. Dean tells Joe that Kyle has given $ 10,000 to Joe to invest, which Joe invests with modest positive returns, just as the market tanks. This wipes out 50% of Kyle's money. Dean tells Joe that Kyle doesn't actually know that Dean gave Joe the $10,000 which was owed to Kyle as payment for his car, which Dean sold on his behalf. Which means Kyle never knew that Joe invested the money on his behalf. At the next pitch, Joe lies and tells Kyle that $5,000 is the profit on his investment (not the leftover amount). He then pitches BBC to the entire group, who buy in thinking of a 50% profit margin in 3 weeks. Joe plays to the deep embedded anxiety in the young sons to show their fathers that even they could put the family assets to work and contribute to the family wealth. Dean introduces Joe to Ron Levin (Kevin Spacey), a Beverly Hills high roller. Ron made his money in Wall Street before moving to the west. Ron likes Joe from the get-go and teaches him that the perception of reality is bigger than the reality itself. Ron knows Joe is a hustler just like him. Ron introduces Joe to Andy Warhol (Cary Elwes). Joe uses Andy's student Sydney Evans (Emma Roberts) to try and get Andy as an investor in BBC. Using the money from Charlie and Biltmore boys, Joe & Dean import blacklisted Beamers into USA. They get $10,000 cars into USA for $15,000 landed and sell them for $80,000. On still refuses to invest and says that Joe's game is still too small for him. Charlie and Biltmore then become the salespeople for BBC, getting in their father's friends to invest. Ron comes through eventually and hands over $ 4 million to Joe to invest. This brings in more people to put up their retirement funds into BBC. Joe is disturbed at the moral implications, but Dean pushes him to keep going ahead with his Ponzi scheme. The next gambit is for the BBC to buy an energy company with $ 3 million in debt, who is trying to figure out a process to liquefy coal to use it as natural gas. The trick is buying the company and an abandoned gold mine, to convince the markets that they have cracked the process. Joe makes the pitch to Cogenco (the energy company's investors) so that they can get their hands on $250 million in value for a fraction of the money. The deal was to be financed using Ron's money. Delirious with impending success, Joe & Dean rent a luxurious apartment in Beverly hills. Joe & Sydney hook up. They throw a party where they meet Izzy - Reza Eslaminia (Barney Harris), who is the son of a Persian despot and hates his dad. The next day Joe realizes that Ron conned him. Ron never had the money and had used his relationship with Joe to secure a $ 1.5 million loan for himself. The penny drops for Joe as without Ron's money, the Cogenco deal is dead. That night Joe confronts Ron at his house, with his bodyguard Tim (Bokeem Woodbine). When Ron insults Tim, he shoots him dead. Its July 1984 when Tim and Joe pour acid over Ron's body outside LA. To salvage the Cogenco deal, the group reaches out to Izzy. Izzy tells them that his father's locker in LA has $5 million in diamonds. When Izzy's dad comes to know, he attacks Dean and Dean ends up strangling him. The next morning, Joe heads to the bank to get access to the locker and is arrested at the bank for Ron Levin's murder. Dean sells Joe in front of the cops. Dean turned witness for the prosecution. Joe was sentenced to life in prison for murder of Ron.

A high school girl finds is immersed in an online game of truth or dare, where her every move starts to become manipulated by an anonymous community of "watchers"

Siblings Andi (Emma Roberts) and Bruce (Jake T. Austin) are orphans, and they live with wannabe rock-star foster parents Lois and Carl Scudder (Lisa Kudrow and Kevin Dillon). Due to the foster parents awful treatment, the kids and their beloved dog Friday (who is hidden from the foster parents) spend their days on the streets. To get money for food for themselves and the dog they deceive a pawn shop, but are caught. Their social worker Bernie (Don Cheadle) reprimands them, but helps them to minimize the damage. One day while out on the streets as usual, they witness a store being robbed. The police seeing the two kids standing nearby accuse them as being the robbers and here starts a silly chase all over town. The kids eventually hide in an old abandoned hotel but are spooked when they hear footsteps and chairs falling over. They discover the hotel is occupied by two dogs. The following day the kids gather up all the food from their foster parents' pantry and refrigerator and secretly take the food to the hotel for the dogs. That's when they get the idea to turn the hotel into a home for the three dogs and any other strays they can find. They are joined by a boy named Dave (Johnny Simmons), a girl named Heather (Kyla Pratt), (both of whom work at a pet store) and later by a kid who lives nearby named Mark (Troy Gentile). The kids rescue about 20 or so dogs. Bruce invents and constructs many ingenious machines using parts he steals from his foster parents, to help feed the dogs and provide sanitary facilities, exercise and entertainment for them. The dogs are quick in learning how to use the machines. Later on Bernie announces to them they can move from the foster home they hate to a new one that is a few hours away. Even though this may be their last chance to be placed in a foster home together, they decline as they care too much about the dogs to abandon them, but they cannot tell Bernie this reason because they might be forbidden to continue their care for the dogs. One night while Andi and Dave are at a party (which turns into a disaster when Andi ends up getting punch on her dress, causing her to leave the party in tears) and Bruce is at his foster parents being reprimanded for a hair dryer he stole from them, the machines fail and the dogs go wild and cause so much noise that the police are called. The dogs are taken to a pound and Bruce and Andi's foster parents kick them out for stealing. As predicted, they are sent to separate foster homes. The pound prepares to euthanize the dogs, but Friday escapes and finds Dave. The two reunite all of the kids and they decide to save the dogs despite the fact that they are going to get in big trouble. They break the dogs out of the pound and try to lead them over the county line (Bruce tempting them to follow the van with sausages) to an animal shelter that has a no kill policy, but as the dogs get close to the hotel, they make a bee line there instead as that is their 'home'. The kids and a massive crowd of people follow. The police call Animal Control who tries to take them back,. Bernie having seen what the kids did, makes a speech in favor of the dogs for the kids rescued so many strays and gave them a home which is something he had been trying to do with the kids he dealt with. (When he introduces the two twin dogs, Viola and Sebastian, this makes reference to the play, "Twelfth Night". The characters Viola and Sebastian are twins in the play. And the dogs Romeo and Juliet are mates). With donations from the people of the city, the hotel is fixed up and turned into an actual hotel for dogs. The kids all work there. Lois and Carl Scudder are 'howling' good entertainment for the dogs in the lounge and Bernie and his wife end up adopting Andi, Bruce, and Friday.

But just because she must grow into a fine young lady doesn't mean this Wild Child won't be spending every waking hour shaking up a very proper system. Poppy Moore starts Abbey Mount as she means to go on-her way,or no way. Realising her Dad's not coming back to get her, and having nowhere to fit in, room-mate Kate tells Poppy she'll have to get herself expelled. Later that night, Poppy reads a book (Alice In Wonderland - her punishment for fighting) with a lighter when her room-mates sneak up on her with torches, and offer their help. They give their ideas on how she can get expelled, and act on them as a group, and let her take the blame. This brings the girls closer, but Poppy still wants to leave. When none of the plans to get Poppy expelled are working the girls realise they will have to go all out and hit the headmistress closer to home by snogging her son Freddie, which is completely forbidden by the school. After some flirting, Freddie asks Poppy out on a date, during which they kiss. Before going out with Freddie, Poppy is so excited she doesn't log off the computer, and runs off. Harriet takes her revenge on Poppy by rewriting her emails to best friend Ruby, and sticks one on the girls' door, suggesting that Poppy is just using them and is faking the friendship. Harriet also rewrites an email about Freddie, stating Poppy's plan to kiss him only to get expelled and that she thinks he is a loser. Coming back from her night out, Poppy is ready to confess she's actually happy, to find the girls upset. They read the email to her and leave. Upset, Poppy goes to see Freddie but he has found the email about him also and feels betrayed. Poppy, with no one else to turn to, sneaks down to the cook's room to use the phone and rings Ruby, who it turns out is sleeping. Even more alone, Poppy starts playing with her lighter, setting a curtain alight. Hearing footsteps, she quickly puts out the fire and runs off. A few minutes later, she looks out her window to see a fire, and wakes Kate and the rest of the school. After the fire is put out, Freddie looks at the damage and finds her lighter. He gives it back to her, refusing to listen to what happened. Poppy goes to the headmistress and confesses. Poppy also asks Mrs. Kingsley to give a letter to Freddie apologizing and confessing her feelings about everything. While waiting for the Honour Court which will decide if she should be expelled, she finds a picture of her Mum and the lacrosse team. Poppy sits with the picture when Freddie finds her crying. After a heart to heart, they are friends again. At the Honour Court, Poppy tells her story while her room-mates find out Poppy was out with Freddie when the email was sent, and Harriet was the only one around. Going to the court,they get the whole school to confess they were present at the fire. Harriet then lets slip about Poppy's lighter being used to start the fire, which only Poppy and Freddie knew about, and accidentally confesses to restarting the fire after Poppy successfully put it out. Poppy is innocent. The movie is left off where Harriet is expelled, and Poppy will remain at Abbey Mount.
