Follows a novelist stuck in a passionless relationship. When he travels to Italy, he finds the girl of his dreams. Ian is under pressure to finish his second book. When he then sees his girlfriend kissing another man in the street, he has a sudden impulse - after watching a commercial for an inn in Italy - and decides to go there. The place is run by Giacomo and his daughter Arianna. Ian tries to continue working on his book, but progress is slow, and he soon becomes involved in life at the olive farm. He is fascinated by Arianna, who seems to live a complicated life helping her father run the place. Soon he is also joined by Audrey, his aunt, who is also a writer. With Arianna as his inspiration, Ian finally gets his book moving - but unresolved issues catches up.

He makes his way to Johannesburg where he bumps into Annette de Witt who bears a striking resemblance to his girlfriend Rina. After Rip is arrested for harassing her and put in a psychiatrist's care, Annette and a helpful reporter discover that she's Rip's great-granddaughter.
