Vijay and Radha are leading a happy marital life until she begins to suspect that Vijay is having an extramarital affair with his secretary.

The story is based on the novel of the same name. Young college student Balu wants to marry his classmate Sujata, but his father, Dr. Sampath, has other plans. Sujata's father is a builder and his assistant Pandu also has a sinister plan.

Bandit (Udaykumar) kidnaps City Cop (K S Ashwath)'s pregnant wife, who delivers a baby boy under Bandit's custody; however, Bandit's own wife conceives a baby girl and hands it over to City Cop. Jayanthi herself offers all the jewels and plays coy, before her father. As the movie proceeds, Son, increasingly known as Bettada Kalla, is pitted against the father and only one can survive. Will the son know the truth and unite his parents? This forms the crux of the movie.
