Guinn 'Big Boy' Williams

In California during the Civil War, a Confederate patrol and a Union troop must set their differences aside in order to survive a Shoshone attack. A Confederate troop, led by Captain Lafe Barstow, is prowling the far ranges of California and Nevada in a last desperate attempt to build up an army in the West for the faltering Confederacy. Because the patrol saves a stagecoach, with Johanna Carter as one of the passengers, from an Indian attack, and is marooned on a rocky mountain, it fails in its mission but the honor of the Old South is upheld. —Les Adams <longhorn1939@suddenlink.net>

A hitch-hiking stranger manages a lift from a young woman into the town he's destined for, and she's from. Both land up in jail, twice, as the small town and its leading family slowly unravel the in-plain-sight mystery behind this man. Marion Scott, honorably discharged WW II soldier, in "civies" and carrying a suitcase containing his uniform and medals, is hitch-hiking to the small hometown of a buddy killed overseas, intending to make it his home. En-route, he encounters wealthy society girl Wilhelmina Hammond, who is running away from her stuffed-shirt fiancée, Alvin Bailey and has taken his car without permission. Marion and Wilhelmina are bickering over a blow-out and an empty gas tank when the local cops appear and haul them off to jail on a car-theft charge. Wilhelmina establishes her identity and is released and, intrigued by Marion whom she suspects is a deserter, arranges his release also. She takes him to the Hammond estate and tells Marion, who does not know her true identity, she is Mrs. Hammond's secretary. Wilhelmina has no keys to the home and they are arrested again when they are caught crawling into the house through a window. This time reporters and photographers discover her identity and plaster the papers with a story of an heiress running out on her rich fiancée to take up with an unknown stranger. Over the objections of the Hammond caretaker, Wiggins, she hires Marion as a chauffeur and stands her ground when her irate mother and angry fiancée rush home from New York with their entourage, including: Aunt Harriet, an old maid who had an unfortunate love affair during WW I; Patricia, "Willie's" young and mischievous sister; Camille, the family dressmaker, and Champ, Alvin's physical instructor. It becomes a battle of wills as Mrs. Hammond and Alvin are determined to break up a romance that doesn't exist, as "Willie" and Marion are constantly bickering, and Aunt Harriet who is all for the pair getting together. —Les Adams <longhorn1939@suddenlink.net>

A wanted outlaw arrives in town to rob a bank that has already been held up! His past and his friendship with the sheriff land them both in trouble. Popular mailcoach driver Uncle Willie is in fact in league with the town's crooked banker. They plan to have the bank robbed after emptying it, and when Willie's choice for this doesn't show in time, he gets some local boys to do it. When his man does turn up he decides to stick around, as he is pals with the sheriff and also takes a shine to Willie's daughter Allison. However the corrupt banker Stanley Clanton has plotted the heist with the owner of the local stable, Uncle Willie McLeod, and the rancher Jack Lester and his gang. Sheriff Steve Upton is out of town investigating the holdup and is surprised by the wanted outlaw Cheyenne Rogers. The gunman that was hired by Stanley but arrived late for the heist, steals his horse and heads to Red Valley. In the stable, the daughter of Uncle Willie, Allison McLeod, recognizes the horse and rescues the sheriff from the wilderness. Meanwhile Cheyenne meets Countess Maletta and his friend Nitro Rankin. The Countess is the owner of the local saloon and suffers from unrequited love for him, and feels guilty for the crime life of Cheyenne that committed his first murder to protect her ranch. When Steve returns to Red Valley and sees Cheyenne, he feels happy to see his old friend and Allison falls in love with Cheyenne. But Sheriff Steve is getting close to Jack Lester and now Stanley Clanton masterminds a plan to incriminate Cheyenne for robbing the bank. Will he succeed? —Claudio Carvalho, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

In order to cover up his philandering ways, a married Broadway producer sets one of his dancers up on a date with a chorus girl for whom he had bought a gift, but the two dancers fall in love for real. After his wife discovers a telltale diamond bracelet, impresario Martin Cortland tries to show he's not chasing after showgirl Sheila Winthrop. An arrogant mobster, sentenced to a long prison term in Sing Sing, becomes a changed man when given a chance by the fair and progressive warden. Egotistical criminal Tommy Gordan believes that he is both above the law, and entitled special privilege in any situation just because of who he is. This view is supported in that his unethical lawyer, Ed Crowley, has been able to get him off time and time again no matter what the charge. Tommy's criminal activity does not sit well with his straight-laced girlfriend, Kay Manners, who loves him regardless. Even when he is caught, charged, and convicted of robbery, and subsequently sentenced to five to thirty years to be served at Sing Sing, Tommy expects that Crowley will not only get him out immediately, but that he will arrange for him to get those special privileges for his short stint inside, including not needing to do anything he doesn't want to do, and being able to continue to wear his expensive clothes to look the part of being important. Tommy is in for a shock to his lifestyle when Crowley is not able to arrange for either with Warden Walter Long, whose primary goal with any inmate is true rehabilitation. Over the early course of his sentence, Tommy, stemming partly from his superstition and partly from seeing the fate of other "smart" inmates who tried to skirt the system, does begin to be rehabilitated in Warden Long's estimation. So when he learns that Kay has been critically injured in an accident, Warden Long, as he has done successfully with other inmates previously, allows Tommy unescorted day leave to visit Kay on the promise that he returns to prison after the visit. While Tommy has every intention to return as instructed, he may have other thoughts when he learns that Kay's predicament was in an altercation with Crowley, Kay and his own well-being which would take a back seat to revenge if given the opportunity.
