Maine Pyar Kiya follows Suman and Prem who fall in love but come from different backgrounds. Their families pull them apart, but Prem will do whatever it takes to get Suman back.

Shankar and Shambhu are close friends, who live together in the same house with Shankar's mom. Shankar ferries people in his boat, while Shambhu chops trees for a living. Their friendship, habits, and hobbies are the same, so much so that both fall in love with the same young woman, Reshma. But Reshma gives her heart to Shankar, and decides to marry him. This angers Shambhu, and he decides not to have to do with Shankar and his mom anymore. Then the Thakur's new-found son decides to close the ferries, and operate a motorized boat. He challenges Shankar to a race, with the loser having to leave the community and the profession, to which Shankar agrees. Two sisters seek revenge after their ex-military father is killed by Nagoji, a fake freedom fighter terrorizing their village. With help from Nagoji's own son and villagers, they fight to end his reign of terror. Pushpa and Gayatri are the daughters of an ex-army man, Veer Bahadur, now retired to his village. He fights against the atrocities inflicted by Nagoji, a man pretending to be a freedom fighter. Nagoji uses this as a way of full filling wrong-doings in the village. When Veer Bahadur opposes Nagoji, he is killed. Bahadur's daughters vow to avenge their father and save the village from Nagoji. They are helped by Nagoji's son, Santosh, who despises the evil ways of his father and more so when Nagoji attempts to molest Pushpa. This leads her back to Sagar's arms, who is now a successful singer. Then Neha notices a remarkable change in Jaideep's behavior, he abstains from alcohol, starts taking an interest in her dad's business, appears apologetic for his past abusive behavior, and adores her. Then her life turns upside down when she receives a letter from a blackmailer, asking her to pay up one Lakh Rupees or a love letter written to her by Sagar will be mailed to Jaideep. Neha delivers the money, but is unable to get the letter back. She confides about this to Sagar. One day while Sagar and Jaideep are out at a stag party, Neha's house is broken into, and a man named Vikramjit attempts to kill her, but instead ends up getting killed by her. The Police are summoned by Jaideep, who find the letter from Sagar in Vikramjit's pocket. As a result Neha is arrested, tried in Court, and sentenced to death under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code. Sanam Malhotra's family becomes wealthy after selling land. When they oppose her romance with Karan, son of a bank manager, the couple elopes. After being rescued by Uncle Joe, Sanam discovers Karan has turned to smuggling. Sanam Malhotra studies in a hostel, while her parents, Surendra and Sushma, and brother, Jatin, live in Bombay in a small flat. Things change for the Malhotras when they are able to sell a large plot to the builders of a five star hotel. They move up in life and buy a bungalow and several cars and arrange for Sanam to stay with them. But these material possessions does make them a little snobbish, as Jatin cannot hear of his friend, Karan, the son of Bank Manager, Amar Nath, for falling in love with his sister. Surendra has Karan arrested for being near Sanam. Independent minded Sanam has also fallen in love with Karan, and when she is imprisoned by Surendra, both elope, much to chagrin of Surendra, who is aware that widowed Amar is having an affair with a woman named Prema Mohan. Surendra & Jatin with the help of Vishnu Dada and his goons hunt them down, but the lovebirds are rescued by Uncle Joe, a friend of Karan. After being rescued, they are asked by Joe to take a holiday. What Sanam does not know is that Karan has taken to smuggling so that he can rich as the Malhotras.
