Since every 27 years evil revisits the town of Derry, Maine, IT Chapter Two brings the characters back together as adults, nearly three decades after the events of the first film.

When children in town begin to disappear, a group of young kids is faced with their biggest fears as they square off against an evil clown named Pennywise.

Sometimes things are not always what they seem, especially in the small suburban town where the Carpenter family lives. Single suburban mother Susan Carpenter (Naomi Watts) works as a waitress at a diner, alongside feisty family friend Sheila (Sarah Silverman). Her younger son Peter (Jacob Tremblay) is a playful 8-year-old. Taking care of everyone and everything in his own unique way is Susanís older son Henry (Jaeden Lieberher), age 12, whose creativity is without limits. Protector to his adoring younger brother and tireless supporter of his often self-doubting mother and through investments of the family as a whole Henry blazes through the days like a comet. Susan discovers that the family next door, which includes Henryís kind classmate, 12-year-old Christina (Maddie Ziegler), has a dangerous secret ñ and that Henry has devised a surprising plan to help. As his brainstormed rescue plan for Christina takes shape in thrilling ways, Susan finds herself at the center of it.

The film takes place over one weekend. While the mother and her new husband attend a 'couple's retreat' she gives her son to his biological father. The mother reluctantly hands her son over to a man she divorced because of his alcoholism. All Anthony (the son) knows about his father is what he was told by his wife Bonnie. Once alone, Walt (the carpenter father) and Anthony have a series of adventures (the father's truck breaks down, he is evicted from his home) and misadventures (his carpentry tools are stolen). The tools were stolen while Walt was in a bar. This only confirms what Anthony was told by his mother. That is where the father/son escapade starts. The movie follows their efforts to get the tools back. Walt and Anthony run into a weird cast of characters in their adventure to retrieve the tools. The trip allows them to form a bond where none existed before. At the end of the weekend, father, son, and mother have all grown as individuals but the father/son relationship has developed the most.
