Todd Howard (Jason Bateman), the cousin of Scott Howard, has recently been accepted into Hamilton University on a full athletic scholarship on the recommendation of Coach Bobby Finstock (Paul Sand), who was Scott's basketball coach at Beacontown High. Finstock's hope is that Todd has the family genes to become a Werewolf and turn Finstock's new struggling boxing team into championship contenders. Dean Dunn (John Astin) has put Finstock under a lot of pressure to win the upcoming regional boxing championships. Dunn is not happy about Finstock bringing in Todd, as Todd has not achieved anything in the sports arena as of yet. Dean Dunn has promised the alumni that he will give them a winning boxing team and the closest Todd has ever been to sports is in a marching band, playing the clarinet. Uncle Harold Howard (James Hampton) drops Todd off the college and Todd hasn't had his first Wolf-Out yet. Todd is not looking forward to his Wolf-out and feels that the condition embarrasses him. Todd wants to fit in. Harold says sometimes it can skip a generation, so nothing to worry about. Rupert "Stiles" Stilinski (Stuart Fratkin) is Todd's roommate. Stiles was Scott's best friend in high school and knows all about the "family problem". Stiles changes all of Todd's classes and registers him for the classes that have majority of girls in them. Chubby is their dorm mate and the current college boxing champion. The admissions lady (Kathleen Freeman) is rude and doesn't allow changes to classes. But Todd starts to have a Wolf-out with glowing eyes and a deep, throaty voice, and she gets scared and agrees to everything that Todd says. Having never been very good at sports, and because he is more interested in being a veterinarian, Todd is certain that Finstock has the wrong guy. Professor Tanya Brooks (Kim Darby) is Todd's faculty advisor and knows about his situation. Todd has signed up for the science courses in college to achieve his dream. Finstock tells Todd that he is supposed to train for boxing. Todd finally understands that Finstock gave him a sports scholarship (due to his surname and the fact that he coached Scott at his previous high school) as he expects Todd to wolf-out and win the boxing championship for them. Todd is shockingly bad in the boxing ring. Finstock's job is the on the line and he has staked everything on Todd's Wolf-out. Todd meets Nicki (Estee Chandler) in class and befriends her. Todd even asks Nicki out on a date. During a meet and greet reception of school alumni, Todd has his first "Wolf-out" while dancing with a seductive hostess Lisa Goldfluss (Beth Ann Miller). Dean Dunn forced Lisa to dance with Todd, even though Todd was there with Nicki as his date. Todd was getting all Handsy and flirty with Lisa when the Wolf-out occurs. At first, Todd is horrified by his "family affliction", and fellow students begin to harass him (Putting ants under his seat in class, no dogs allowed signs all over the college). Stiles on the other hand wants Todd to take advantage of his tremendous gift. Dean Dunn threatens Todd with expulsion if he loses his first upcoming fight. Brooks and Nicki are very supportive during this phase. Nicki kisses Todd to improve his self-esteem as he believes that everybody thinks he is a dog. Then, during his first boxing match, after nearly getting knocked out, Todd has his second "Wolf-out" only this time he is able to display his supernatural agility and strength and has a dramatic come from behind victory, thus earning the admiration of the students as well as the strict Dean Dunn. With his newfound fame comes girls, top grades and even the dean's car but as the year goes on, Todd realizes that he is losing his friends and self-respect as he ignored his friends and supporters. Todd starts spending with the college heart throb Lisa and ignores Nicki. Chubby (Mark Holton) was the previous boxing favorite before Todd found his abilities and feel lefts out. Steve "Gus" Gustavson is Todd's greatest rival in the ring as the 2 are in different colleges and are heading towards a final's bout for the championship. Nicki tries to tell Todd that they all only love the Wolf, and not Todd. Even Prof Brooks tells Todd that having special powers, brings special responsibilities. Brooks tells Tood that he is failing her class. Todd quickly realizes that the fame goes away once the Wolf thing is too old. And all the friends that he ignored on the way up, now ignore him on the way down. Todd seeks out advice from his uncle, Scott's father, Harold Howard, who helps Todd comes to terms with his responsibilities and prepares him for the championship which he says Todd should out without wolfing out. Todd also reconnects with his girlfriend, Nicki, who helps him regain his focus of being humble. Todd decides to take the final test with Prof Brooks, by studying all night with Nicki. The test was on the same day as the championship match, and just 3 hours before. Todd prioritizes his studies over fame and adulation due to the wolf. Todd passes the test with Brooks and wins her respect. Todd then decides that he will fight his championship match against Steve "Gus" Gustavson (Robert Neary), who Todd had prior issues with, as himself rather than the wolf much to the dismay of all except his uncle, girlfriend and Professor Tanya Brooks. Dean meets Todd in the locker room before the fight and threatens him of revoking his scholarship, if Todd doesn't fight as a wolf. He promises to take care of grade, cars and women, if Todd complies. Brooks, who unbeknownst to Todd is also a werewolf, intimidates Dean Dunn with glowing red eyes, growling, and swaying her tail. After losing round after round, and nearly getting knocked out, Todd is tempted to become the wolf until he sees Nicki mouth the words "I love you" to him. This gives Todd the strength to overcome Gus and knocks him out to a roaring ovation.

High school student Scott Howard (Michael J Fox) is seventeen years old, sick of being average and wishing he were special. His father Harold (James Hampton) runs a local hardware store. Scott plays basketball for his high school's team, the Beavers, with a not-so-good win-loss record. The Beavers are last in the league and their coach want to forfeit their games against the top teams, rather than go through the humiliation of losing by huge margins. Chubby (Mark Holton) is one of the players on the team who is particularly overweight. The girl of his dreams, Pamela Wells (Lorie Griffin), is dating Mick (Mark Arnold), a jerk from an opposing high school team, the Dragons. Boof is Scott's best friend, but Scott cannot notice that Boof is interested in him. Pamela is on the school play team. Scott wants to quit basketball and join the school play, just so he can spend more time with Pamela and get her to notice him. After another of the team's losses, Scott begins to notice strange changes to his body (long hairs in the chest, hypersensitivity to high pitched sounds, elevated heart rate, a rash on his back). Scott's friend Stiles wants him to help get a keg of beer for his upcoming party. The liquor store refuses to sell any without an ID proof. But Scott suddenly gets a very deep, throaty voice and red glowing eyes that scares the store attendant into selling him one. While at a school party at Stiles's house, Scott keeps undergoing changes. Stiles is the party master and engages the whole gang in games. Each girl has pulled out a name of a boy from a hat and Stiles asks them adult stuff to do together. Boof says that she had Scott's name (even though she didn't) and gets 2 minutes in the closet with him where "anything goes". Boof slaps Scott when he gets too "handsy" and emerges from the closet with the back of dress shredded to pieces. Eventually Scott returns home, locks himself in the bathroom, and undergoes a complete change and becomes a werewolf, while his father demands that he open the door. He tries to refuse, only to finally give in and obey, to find his father has also transformed into a werewolf. Harold never told his son about the condition because "sometimes it skips a generation" and he was hoping it wouldn't happen to Scott. Scott's perception of the werewolf is made from the movies, and he is afraid that he will end up becoming a freak. Howard tries to counsel him that being a werewolf will give Scott many advantages as well. As Scott acts anxious in school, vice principal Rusty Thorne keeps a close eye on him and wants to see his hands. Scott reveals his transformation to Stiles and he says that he is learning to control his change into a Werewolf. Boof knows that something is bothering Scott and tries to reach out to him, but he doesn't open up to her. Scott first reveals his transformation to the public at one of his basketball games, after getting pinned in a pile-up. After momentarily stunning the crowd with The Wolf, Scott goes on to wow them with his basketball skills and he finishes the game with a quadruple double. Scott subsequently learns to use his family "curse" to gain popularity at school, becoming the team's star basketball player, and learns to transform at will between his normal self and The Wolf. His basketball team goes from last to first, and Scott begins spending most of his school time as The Wolf. He also wins the interest of Pamela while ignoring the affections of his best friend, Boof (Susan Ursitti), who has loved him since childhood. Scott's other best friend Stiles (Jerry Levine), a party animal with an entrepreneurial streak, quickly cashes in on Scott's new-found popularity, selling Teen Wolf T-shirts and other merchandise. Stiles' "Wolfmania" reaches such extremes that Scott trades in his own vehicle for a step van dubbed "Wolfmobile." After he gets a role as a "Werewolf cavalryman" in the school play alongside her, Pamela comes onto him in the dressing room, and they have sex. Later, after a date set up to make Mick jealous, Pamela tells Scott that she is not interested in him as a boyfriend, much to his disappointment. Harold tells Scott he is responsible for his son's conflicts with vice principal Rusty Thorne (Jim McKrell), due to a scare Harold had given him when he was in high school. He advises Scott to be himself. Boof agrees to go with Scott to the upcoming Spring Dance, but only if he goes as himself. Scott goes alone as the Wolf instead. She takes him into the hallway, and they kiss, which turns Scott back into himself. When they return to the dance, Scott garners everyone's attention, including Pamela. A jealous Mick punches him in the face, then proceeds to insult Boof and taunt Scott until the Wolf angrily attacks. Scott runs out of the hall right into Thorne, who threatens expulsion. Harold sends his son home before going on to intimidate Thorne by growling in his face, causing the vice principal to wet himself. During the final basketball game (Beavers vs. Dragons again), Scott refuses to "wolf out" and insists on winning the game on his own. Coach Bobby Finstock (Jay Tarses) tells Scott that the team is doomed to fail without The Wolf, but Scott is able to prove him wrong. In a dramatic game ending, and with the help of five fouls from Mick, Scott is able to rally the team back to within a point as time is expiring. Scott is fouled one last time by Mick on the final play and given two shots. Mick stands underneath the basket as Scott attempts his foul shots. Scott makes both baskets and the Beavers win the game by one point. Pamela smugly expects to get Scott's attention after the game is over, but he passes her by to hold Boof in his arms, kissing her passionately. Mick tells Pamela that they should leave, but she tells him to "drop dead" and storms off while everyone else celebrates the victory.

An ambitious TV reporter on assignment with her photographer at a southern California power plant learns of an impending control room crisis involving the plant`s supervisor.

LA Police Lt. Phil Gaines (Burt Reynolds) and Nicole Britton (Catherine Deneuve), a high-priced call girl and the lieutenant's girlfriend, have their weekend plans dashed when Gaines receives a call that a dead woman was found on the beach. Before he leaves, the two plan a romantic trip to Rome, Italy. At the police precinct, Gaines and his partner, Sgt. Louis Belgrave (Paul Winfield), meet Marty and Paula Hollinger (Ben Johnson and Eileen Brennan), and ask Marty to view the deceased to see if it is his daughter, Gloria. Upon seeing Gloria's naked lifeless body, Marty punches Gaines in the face, screaming they should have covered her up. Sgt. Belgrave insists they charge Marty with assault, but Gaines apologizes for not covering the girl. Later, Gaines enters an interrogation room to find Belgrave and another police officer beating a confession out of an Albino man (David Estridge). Infuriated by their brutality, Gaines orders the prisoner released and given something to eat. Gaines then learns that Jerry Bellamy (David Spielberg), a murderer he arrested, was paroled after only serving five years of his two life sentences. Gaines goes to his office and stares wistfully at a seven-year old calendar showing the Roman coliseum. That night, Marty Hollinger lies in bed picturing his daughter, Gloria, as she grew from a toddler to teenager. His wife reminds him they "lost" Gloria a long time ago. Meanwhile, Gaines stands on his balcony overlooking Los Angeles, California, while Nicole has phone sex with a client. When Nicole hangs up, she complains her job is getting harder every day. Gaines suggests she quit, but is silent when she asks if he will take care of her. To lighten the mood, Nicole encourages him to reminisce about the love affair he had when he visited Rome. The next day, Belgrave and Gaines brief their boss, Capt. John Santoro (Ernest Borgnine), on the Gloria Hollinger case. Although the girl tested positive for semen, there was no sign of rape. Plus, blood tests indicate that Gloria died of suicide. After learning the girl's father is "a nobody," Santoro tells them to close the file. Meanwhile, Nicole entertains mob attorney, "Kingfish" Leo Sellers (Eddie Albert), on his yacht. Sellers goes ashore to make a telephone call. In Akron, Ohio, his call is answered by a man at a telephone booth. Three men leave a union meeting hall, and are killed when the car explodes. Afterward, the man tells Sellers "it is done", and hangs up. Back in Los Angeles, Gaines removes a picture of Sellers and Gloria Hollinger from the dead girl's wallet. Sgt. Belgrave snatches it from him and gives it to another officer to enlarge it and make additional prints. The Hollingers arrive to collect their daughter's personal effects, and Marty refuses to accept his daughter's death was a suicide. When Gaines tells him the case is closed, Marty threatens to find the killer and take care of him. After Marty leaves, Paula explains he has never been the same after his traumatic experiences in the Korean War and a sympathetic Gaines gives her his business card in case she needs his help. Gaines learns that Jerry Bellamy has killed two women and taken a third hostage while holed up in a downtown factory. When Gaines arrives at the scene, Bellamy threatens to shoot his prisoner unless the police lieutenant comes in alone. Inside, Bellamy orders Gaines to kneel, then, as the killer rants about the evils of women, Belgrave drops from a skylight, distracting the killer. Gaines pulls his gun and kills Bellamy. Later, Gaines and Belgrave are drinking in Gaines's office, when Belgrave insists they investigate Leo Sellers's connection to Gloria's death. He argues that Seller is a mob lawyer, and Gloria was carrying an envelope holding $2,000 in cash and had Sellers's picture in her wallet. Knowing Seller is one of Nicole's clients, a reluctant Gaines agrees. Meanwhile, Marty collects Gloria's things from Gloria's roommate, Peggy Summers (Catherine Bach), who shows him a much larger photograph of Gloria and Sellers. Learning Gloria was a stripper who dated Herbie Dalitz, the emcee at her club, Marty goes to confront Herbie. That night, Gaines confesses he is having trouble accepting Nicole's profession. When he refuses to marry her, she packs to leave him. Gaines slaps her and she hits him in the head with an ashtray. He throws her on the bed, and what starts as a violent kiss turns passionate and they make love. The next morning, a narcotics officer gives Gaines a tape recording of Sellers calling Ohio and the bomb blast that killed the union men. He explains that the telephone booth was "bugged" to catch drug deals, but the tape now belongs to homicide. Later, Gaines and Belgrave respond to a telephone call from Paula Hollinger and go to her home where they find a badly beaten Marty. Marty says Gloria was at a sex party at a home owned by a man named Leo. Gaines agrees to investigate Gloria's death, but only if Marty promises not to take any more chances. Gaines interviews Herbie Dalitz, who admits procuring Gloria for Leo after he saw her in a pornographic movie. When questioned, Leo Sellers admits partying with Gloria, but insists she left his house alive. When Gaines asks if Leo feels any responsibility for the girl's suicide, Leo answers she was screwed up before he met her. Gaines then reveals that police taped his call to Ohio. Leo's only response is to say that he knows Nicole and Gaines are living together and admires that Gaines does not let her profession get in the way of their relationship. Later, Gaines has drinks with Paula Hollinger and learns that Gloria was the result of an affair she had while Marty was in a veteran's hospital being treated for mental illness. Although Marty learned of the affair, he never suspected he was not Gloria's father. The next day, Gaines tells Marty that Gloria committed suicide. When Marty accuses Gaines of being paid off, the lieutenant shows him film of Gloria and Peggy Summers having sex with a man. Marty leaves in tears, goes to Peggy and beats her until she reveals Leo's last name. When he leaves, Peggy calls Belgrave. Carrying a loaded gun, Marty confronts Sellers at his house. Sellers ask why kill him, as there "were a lot of men who led Gloria astray?" Marty replies that he cannot kill everyone and shoots him between the eyes. Gaines and Belgrave arrive to find Leo dead and Marty slumped in a chair. Gaines tries to get Marty to understand the trouble he is, but Marty just repeats that he will have his day in court. After learning Marty bought the gun from a pawnshop without giving his name, Gaines takes the pistol and shoots Marty in the shoulder, then concocts a story that Sellers pulled the gun when Marty confronted him and, in the ensuing struggle, Marty was wounded and Leo killed. Belgrave protests, but Gaines explains that even though Leo did not kill Gloria, he was a murderer and there are times justice is served by "sticking up for the Marty's of the world." Gaines telephones Nicole and tells her to meet him at the airport so they can fly to Sausalito, California, and get married. After hanging up, Gaines walks into a liquor store, where an armed man attempts to rob the place. Gaines intercedes, but he is shot dead. Later, Belgrave finds Nicole at the airport and breaks the news. As they leave, an airplane headed for Rome takes off.

A sadistic warden asks a former pro quarterback, now serving time in his prison, to put together a team of inmates to take on (and get pummeled by) the guards. A football player-turned-convict organizes a team of inmates to play against a team of prison guards. His dilemma is that the warden asks him to throw the game in return for an early release, but he is also concerned about the inmates' lack of self-esteem. —Matt Heffernan <msh6880@cs.rit.edu> An ex football player Paul Crewe (Reynolds) spirals out after being caught shaving points to gamble on games. Some bad choices lead to Crewe getting sent to prison where the warden has his eye on him to coach their semi pro team. After refusing, at the lead guards forceful request, crewe finds himself in the dregs of the prison workforce. Finally the warden decides to use him in a different capacity and tasks him with putting together an all inmate football team to play a tune up game with the guards. Through trials and tribulations, Crewe gets his team together and puts the guards through their paces in an all out roughed out guard on inmate football game. Former star quarterback Paul Crewe is arrested and convicted on a variety of charges and sent to State prison. The chief guard, Captain Knauer, is immediately antagonistic towards Crewe and makes his life a living hell. Crewe gets a chance for some revenge when the warden arranges a game between the inmates, coached and quarterbacked by Crewe, and the guards, coached by Knauer. Now he has four weeks to whip his team into shape, a team whose members haven't played in years, if at all, while the guards team play regularly and successfully. —grantss
