Sherlock Gnomes (Johnny Depp) and his assistant, Gnome Watson (Chiwetel Ejiofor), storm into a museum, where their nemesis, a pie mascot named Moriarty (Jamie Demetriou), is holding gnomes hostage, planning to smash them. Moriarty has sworn himself the enemy to every garden Gnome in London, while Holmes is the sworn protector of them. After a brief battle, Moriarty is defeated and seemingly crushed by a dinosaur skeleton. Meanwhile, now happily in love, Miss Montague (Julie Walters), Mr. Capulet (Richard Wilson), and their gnomes move from Stratford-upon-Avon to a run-down garden in London. Among the gnomes are Gnomeo and Juliet, their star-crossed lovers. The gnomes come to life as soon as the humans are out of sight. Meanwhile, Gnomeo (James McAvoy) who is Lady Bluebury's (Maggie Smith) son and the leader of the blue gnomes and Juliet (Emily Blunt) who is Lord Redbrick's (Michael Caine) daughter, the leader of the red gnomes, as well as the other gnomes, are moving to London. Lady Bluebury and Lord Redbrick announce their retirement and appoint Gnomeo and Juliet to lead the gnomes. The gnomes include Paris (Stephen Merchant) a nerdy red gnome who was arranged to marry Juliet, Fawn (Ozzy Osbourne) a garden deer, Mankini (Julio Bonet) a red gnome who wears a Mankini, Barry (Gary Bradbury) a gnome who sits on a toilet, and the Red Goon Gnomes (Kelly Asbury). Sherlock Gnomes and Watson had started fighting in the house until Mrs Udderson (Eve Webster) tells them to fight outside. Gnomeo and Juliet's relationship becomes strained when Juliet ignores Gnomeo in her efforts to repair the garden. To get her attention, Gnomeo goes to a nearby flower shop that Benny (Matt Lucas) (an impulsive gnome who is Gnomeo's best friend) told him about to get a Cupid's Arrow orchid, but a stall falls over and the burglar alarm goes off. Juliet rescues him, but they argue before returning to the garden after Benny sends them a signal on a Walkie-Talkie informing them that a monster has attacked. There, they find that everyone has disappeared. Sherlock Gnomes and Watson are informed about the missing gnomes all over the city and decide to investigate the matter. Sherlock Gnomes and Watson arrive at the garden and find a clue card, and reluctantly let them accompany them in their search for clues to find out what is going on. After Gnomeo and Juliet help them escape from a sewer, they all team up. Watson is shown to be derisive towards Sherlock as Sherlock simply repeats the conclusions that Watson draws moments earlier. Sherlock inspects a clue given to them by Moriarty, who he believes survived their last encounter. After literally searching his mind, he concludes that the clue is leading them to Chinatown. They find the next clue at Curly Fu's Emporium while escaping from cat guards whom Sherlock Gnomes had offended. After an encounter with some Maneki-Nekos (Chinese kitten dolls), they find the next clue. They arrive at the Natural History Museum, which Gnomeo attempts to convince Sherlock Gnomes to investigate. The group is split on where the clue is leading, so they split up. Sherlock Gnomes decides to visit an art gallery instead, as it helps him think, and Gnomeo is hurt after Juliet sides with Sherlock Gnomes. After an argument, Gnomeo leaves for the museum with Watson, where he realizes that he was wrong to leave Juliet. Later, Watson is seemingly killed by a stone Gargoyle (who seems to be working on instructions from Moriarty), saddening the group. Eventually, Sherlock figures out that the next clue is at the park. He and Juliet disguise themselves as a squirrel to get the clue from a dog and barely succeed. Meanwhile, Gnomeo discovers where the gnomes are being kept. Gnomeo attempts to free the gnomes, but only he and the Red Goon Gnomes escape before the gargoyles arrive. The next clue leads Juliet and Sherlock Gnomes to a doll museum, where they meet his resentful fiance, Irene (Mary J. Blige), who kicks them out, but lets Juliet in after she distances herself from Sherlock Gnomes. Irene gives Juliet the clue, which leads her and Sherlock Gnomes to Traitor's Gate at the Tower of London. There, Gnomeo and the Red Goon Gnomes were trying to escape from the gargoyles. Juliet and Sherlock Gnomes discover Watson, who reveals that he pretended to be Moriarty to get through to Sherlock Gnomes, who showed no respect or appreciation for him, and is supposedly holding the gnomes captive, but finds that they are missing. The Gargoyles reveal that they never worked for Watson and dispose of him, Juliet, Sherlock Gnomes, and Watson on a ship. Sherlock Gnomes realizes that the gnomes are being held at the bottom of the Tower Bridge with pie filling and Moriarty reveals that he manipulated Watson into helping him and plans to smash the gnomes with the raised bridge. After witnessing Sherlock Gnomes' mistreatment of Watson, he had the Gargoyles feign allegiance with Watson to access his map and locate the gnomes in London. Sherlock Gnomes and Watson agree to work together to save the gnomes and they and Juliet head to the bridge on a drone. Gnomeo delays the opening of the bridge by having the Red Goon Gnomes dance before reuniting with Juliet and helping her defeat the Gargoyles. Although Watson frees the trapped gnomes with soap, Moriarty pursues Sherlock Gnomes and injures his leg. Before he can kill the gnomes, however, Sherlock Gnomes throws himself at Moriarty, knocking them over the bridge. Watson saves Sherlock Gnomes with his cane grappling hook, while Moriarty lands in the water and floats away. Afterwards. The gnomes then enjoy the fireworks celebration. The following spring, Gnomeo and Juliet reveal the completed garden, and the gnomes celebrate with Irene, Teddy Gregson and the cat guards in attendance. Sherlock Gnomes and Watson, having reconciled, set off on another adventure. In the post-credit scene. Lots of gnomes are falling taking a picture of Sherlock Gnomes with his magnifying glass, until Moriarty comes and blows a raspberry at him. then Sherlock Gnomes smashes him with the glass.

Casey Cooke (Anya Taylor-Joy) is a withdrawn teenager, having been molested as a child by her uncle John, her legal guardian since her father died from a heart attack. After a pity invite to a birthday party, she is offered a ride home by her classmate Claire (Haley Lu Richardson) and Claire's father, along with Claire's friend Marcia (Jessica Sula). As the girls wait for Claire's father in the car, he is knocked unconscious and Casey, Claire, and Marcia, are kidnapped by Kevin Wendell Crumb (James McAvoy), a man suffering from Dissociative identity disorder (DID). Kevin is in therapy with Dr. Karen Fletcher (Betty Buckley), who has identified 23 distinct personalities of Kevin. In his mind, these personalities sit in chairs in a room, waiting for "Barry", the dominant personality, to grant them their turn "in the light" (in control). She has also found that Kevin's physiology changes with each personality. Recently, "Barry" has refused to allow "Dennis" or "Patricia" their turns, in part due to Dennis' tendencies towards bothering underage girls and Patricia's undesirable traits, and also because both appear to worship a mysterious entity known as "The Beast". Fletcher has found that she can bring back Kevin's own personality by speaking his full name. Kevin, as "Dennis", locks the girls in a cell in his underground quarters. They recognize his DID, and Claire attempts to use this to escape but is caught by "Dennis" and separated from the others. Kevin continues going to work and attending appointments with Fletcher. Fletcher soon recognizes that "Dennis" has displaced "Barry" as the dominant personality. It is revealed that when Kevin was a child, his father left on a train one day and never returned. As he grew up, Kevin was abused and terrorized by his mother, who suffered from obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). He later experienced an awkward incident with two teenage girls where they forced Kevin to touch their breasts, which Fletcher believes triggered "Dennis" to take over. Marcia attempts to escape but is caught by "Patricia". Casey befriends "Hedwig", another one of Kevin's personalities that is a 9 year-old boy, who reveals himself as the one to have taken control of "the light" from "Barry". Casey convinces "Hedwig" to let her out of her cell to see his bedroom, believing that there might be a means of escape through the window "Hedwig" has described in that room, but she finds that it is only a drawing of a window. She takes a Walkie-Talkie from Hedwig and uses it to call for help, but the man at the other end thinks it is a prank. "Patricia" takes over and subdues Casey. Fletcher visits Kevin's home, where he reveals that he has met "The Beast", in actuality a yet-to-manifest 24th personality. Realizing that "Dennis" may have abducted the three missing girls to serve as a sacrifice to "The Beast", Fletcher feigns going to the bathroom, searches the house, and finds Claire. "Dennis" suddenly appears, sedates Fletcher and locks her up as well. "The Beast": a grotesque and cannibalistic sociopath with superhuman capabilities, such as inhuman bodily strength, enhanced speed and agility, along with near-invulnerability and unnatural mobility, to the point of being able to scale walls and ceilings but resulting in his insatiable hunger for raw human flesh. "Dennis" goes to a train station, where he boards an empty train car, which allows "The Beast" to finally take over, giving Kevin superhuman abilities. Fletcher writes Kevin's full name on a piece of paper before "The Beast" arrives and kills her. Casey escapes from her cell, only to find that "The Beast" has already devoured Marcia and watches in horror as he devours Claire too. Casey finds Fletcher's body and the piece of paper. "The Beast" approaches her, but she calls out Kevin's full name, bringing Kevin forth. Upon learning of the situation and realizing that he has not been in control for two years, a horrified Kevin begs Casey to kill him with a shotgun he has hidden. This prompts all 24 personalities to fight for control of "the light" and "Hedwig" is the victor. He gives control over to the undesirable personalities-"Dennis" and "Patricia"-so nobody will ever make fun of him again and they once again let "The Beast" take hold. Casey retrieves the gun and ammunition before escaping into an underground tunnel, where she shoots "The Beast" twice to no effect. She locks herself in a caged area whose bars "The Beast" begins to pull apart. Then he sees faded scars across her body from cutting herself. Having previously declared his plans to rid the world of the "impure" and "untouched"-those who have never suffered-he considers Casey to be "pure" so he spares her and he runs off. Casey is rescued and learns that she was being held at the Philadelphia Zoo, where Kevin had been an employee. When Casey is asked if she is ready to return home with her uncle, she hesitates to answer. In another hideout, "Dennis", "Patricia", and "Hedwig" discuss the power of "The Beast" and their plans to change the world. In a diner, several patrons watch as a news correspondent reports that Kevin's numerous personalities have earned him the nickname "The Horde". One patron notes the similarity to the case of a wheelchair-bound criminal incarcerated 15 years earlier who was also given a nickname. As she tries to remember the nickname, the man sitting next to her, David Dunn (Bruce Willis), says it was "Mr. Glass".

Robbie and Cecilia were just getting to the stage of their lives of being able to confess their true love for each other. But then thirteen-year-old aspiring writer Briony also had a crush on the older Robbie. Based on two incidents she saw between Cecilia and Robbie (one only from afar), on reading a private letter Robbie wrote to Cecilia, and on her own feelings for Robbie, Briony told some truths and half-truths about Robbie which resulted in this turn in his life. Robbie is able to reconnect with Cecilia before he is shipped off to France, and lives only to be able to head back to London to be with Cecilia and make up for the missing four years they could not spend together due to Briony's actions. A year later, Briony (Romola Garai), now eighteen, also arrives in London to start working as a nurse to support the war effort. By this time, she is aware of the damage her thirteen-year-old self caused, and wants to atone for that error to Cecilia, from whom she has been estranged, and Robbie, who she has not seen since. Peter Colt (Paul Bettany), an English professional Tennis Player in his thirties (he is 32 years old) whose ranking has slipped from 11th to 119th in the world, considers he never really had to fight for anything. His wealthy but not close family (including brother Carl (James McAvoy), father Edward (Bernard Hill) and mother Augusta (Eleanor Bron)) easily put him through studies and allowed him to pursue his Tennis ambitions. Peter bravely exchanges jokes with his German sparring partner Dieter Prohl (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), who is in a similar position. For a tennis player, winning a Grand Slam title is the pinnacle of their sporting career. Though, he earns a wild-card spot to the Wimbledon tournament, but internally feels that it's time to admit he's getting too old to compete with fitter coming men (or boys) and intends, after this last Wimbledon, to take a job with the prestigious tennis club instead. The job offered to him by club manager Ian Frazier (Robert Lindsay). However, as Wimbledon begins, by accident, he bumps into Lizzie Bradbury (Kirsten Dunst), the American rising star of female tennis, falls in love with her and finds her interest in him changes his entire perception, even gives him the strength to win again. Peter finds that his game gets better as he spends more time with Lizzie. Meanwhile, Lizzie comes with a reputation of arguing with the chair umpires as a tactic to disrupt the game. Lizzie invites Peter up to her room, and they have sex as Lizzie believes that this can help one relax and help with their game. After an unexpected win in the first round, Peter is about to lose his second match (against an opponent who had won the French Open previously) but turns it around when he hears Lizzie cheering for him in the crowd. In his third match, he unexpectedly comes up against his training partner and best friend, Dieter Prohl. Peter beats Dieter, who comments that Peter has developed a 'killer instinct', the ability to win the match no matter the cost or the method. Peter's unexpected success makes him a sensation in Britain, as many place their hopes on either him or his next competitor, Tom Cavendish, to deliver a British win at Wimbledon. Meanwhile, Carl had been betting against Peter on every match and kept losing. Carl is mystified as Peter has always come through for him previously. Ron (Jon Favreau) is Peter's agent who asks him to capitalize on his fame before his next match with Tom. As their love grows, Peter's game becomes better and better, but her game starts worsening as she spends too much time with Peter, ignoring her practice and tiredness. However, her overprotective father-manager Dennis Bradbury (Sam Neill) proves determined to nip their relationship in the bud, believing it detrimental to her career. At a reception for the Wimbledon players at the London Eye, Lizzie is approached by an old flame, arrogant American star and world number 1 Jake Hammond. Hammond deduces that Peter and Lizzie are seeing each other when Peter defends her. When Hammond insults Lizzie, Peter punches him and the couple run away to Peter's flat in Brighton. They spend the entire day together and their picture was taken by Carl, who sold it to the media to make good on his betting losses and to put more against Peter in his upcoming game. That next day, Dennis comes to Peter's apartment and yells at him for spoiling his daughter's game. She overhears this and decides to leave him. Lizzie says that they can be together after the tournament. Both of them play several games with different opponents and win. Peter faces off against Tom Cavendish and beats him when Cavendish sprains his ankle, demonstrating his ability to go all the way. But without Lizzie's support, Peter's confidence and concentration start to shake. Lizzie enters into semi-final while Peter also manages to reach semi-final but with difficulty. The night before their semi-final games, Peter sneaks into Lizzie's hotel room and persuades her to have sex. Initially, she denies as she requires more rest and sleep for her semi-final game next morning, but later on agrees to. Next day, he performs quite well and wins his semi-final match in straight sets, whilst Lizzie loses her match due to tiredness for lack of sleep and losing her focus after last night together with Peter. Lizzie gets upset and breaks their relation while accusing his madness and last night greed for sex as cause for loss of her match, her dreams and perhaps her career too. She leaves before he can say or explain anything and decides to immediately return to USA. Peter has to play the final match against Jake Hammond (Austin Nichols), an arrogant American star who Peter has already had an argument with involving Lizzie but finds himself out classed. At the airport, Lizzie watches an interview on TV in which Peter apologizes to her and declares his love for her openly. She drops her idea to go home and comes back to Wimbledon. Before Lizzie reaches the stadium, Peter has already lost two sets and is running behind in the third one due to the fast and forceful tricky serves by Jake. He has lost all of his focus due to breakup with Lizzie. Before the game is interrupted by rain, his back muscles get stressed, and he has started thinking about quitting the game rather than face a sure defeat. Suddenly, Lizzie comes to him in the dressing room and tells him that she has forgiven him and prepares him to play and face the fate rather than quit. She tells him the secret about Jake's tricky serves. With Lizzie cheering him on, Peter makes a recovery in the game and wins the title (3-6, 2-6, 6-4, 7-6 {7-5}, 6-4) with a diving volley. After the game he retires. He and Lizzie get married, and with his support, Lizzie goes on to win the U.S. Open and Wimbledon twice, ultimately achieving her dreams. In the last scene, Peter is with their youngest child, a boy, watching Lizzie and their eldest child, a girl, playing tennis together on a neighborhood court in New York City.
