Simon and Robyn Callum (Jason Bateman and Rebecca Hall) are a married couple moving from Chicago to California while recovering from a recent miscarriage. They find a lovely home near the place Simon used to live and decide to settle in. While getting furniture for their house, a man (Joel Edgerton) approaches Simon and claims to know him from high school. Simon doesn't recognize him until the man says his name is Gordon Mosely, or simply Gordo. He politely welcomes the couple to the area and leaves. Gordo first drops off a bottle of wine on the couple's doorstep as a welcoming gift. He later shows up while Simon is at work. Robyn invites him in and takes him on a tour of the house. In one room, they find a giant toy monkey, and Robyn tells Gordo that Simon has a phobia of monkeys. Robyn invites Gordo to stay for dinner. When Simon joins them, Gordo tells Robyn about how Simon used to have a campaign for class president and using "Simon Says" as his slogan, and it would get him anything he wanted. A little too drunk from wine, Gordo comments that "Simon Says..." applies to all the nice things Simon has in his life (great home, beautiful wife, nice job, etc.) which makes the couple a bit uncomfortable. Simon doesn't approve of Gordo visiting them, even crossing his name out over his phone number on the fridge and writing "Weirdo," as that was Gordo's nickname in high school. Gordo continues to come to their house when Simon is at work, and he leaves gifts like a bunch of koi fish for the pond in front of their home, and he gets their cable TV working. He walks into the kitchen and sees "Weirdo" written on the fridge and leaves offended. To Robyn's surprise, Gordo later invites the couple over for a dinner party. Simon and Robyn go to a surprisingly nice home for the party. Gordo tells them that the other couple he invited just canceled on them. During the conversation, he mentions that he is not married. Gordo then gets a phone call which he claims is from work and he leaves Simon and Robyn home alone. Simon then starts making rude comments about Gordo, saying that he has a crush on Robyn and wants to do perverted things to her. Simon then suggests they go exploring the house. They find a bedroom with women's clothing, as well as what appears to be a child's bedroom. They hear Gordo's car returning, and they run back to the living room. When Gordo comes back inside, Simon asks him what he does for work. Gordo says that he lied and that he took a call from his ex-wife and admitted that it was a heated conversation. Simon insists that Robyn leave the room and Simon forcefully tells Gordo that he doesn't want him visiting them anymore. The next morning, Robyn thinks she hears noises while home alone. She goes outside and discovers that the koi fish are dead, and their dog, Mr. Bojangles, is nowhere to be found. Simon later goes back to Gordo's house, being greeted at the door by a woman whom he thinks is Gordo's wife. It turns out that Gordo doesn't live there. The Callums call the cops and find out that the couple in the house did know Gordo, and he had a key, since he handled their leased cars, and he had apparently used the key to get inside while the couple was on vacation. Without sufficient evidence, the cops can't do more than question Gordo, and they observe that Gordo would know who sent the authorities to him. Simon is being considered for a promotion at work, and after a good meeting with the two men who head the company, a colleague tells him that he has only one competitor for the position, Danny McDonald (PJ Byrne). Robyn continues to feel like Gordo is watching her at home. She takes some prescription pills that she pinched from their next-door neighbor, and she faints in the bedroom. She awakens to find herself lying on the bed. At night, Robyn walks into the kitchen and thinks she hears a noise. A thump is heard at the door. It's Bojangles, safely returned home. Robyn wakes Simon up, and they talk in the kitchen as Simon mentions he was going to tell Robyn that he got a promotion at work, but he found her passed out. He also takes out the pills he found and thinks that Robyn has had a relapse after previously abusing pills during their stay in Chicago. Robyn argues that Simon doesn't believe her suspicions about Gordo. Simon just thinks that the man has had a negative influence on their lives and it would be best to forget about him and move on. Over the next few months, Robyn becomes pregnant again. The couple lives on just fine until Robyn is told that a man is watching her at work. It's Gordo. Later, the couple finds a letter that apologizes for him bothering them, and he addresses Simon by saying he was willing to let "bygones be bygones." Simon denies knowing what Gordo is talking about. The couple goes to a baby shower for Robyn. She later takes a walk with Simon's sister Joan (Katie Aselton). Robyn asks her if she knew anything about Gordo. Joan says that it was reported that Simon and his friend Greg (David Denman) found Gordo in a car being molested by an older student, and this made everyone think he was gay. Robyn looks up Greg's name online and finds that he's a chiropractor. She makes an appointment to see him and starts to ask him about what happened between Simon and Gordo. Greg does not want to answer her questions but finally tells her that Simon made up the story about Gordo being molested because Simon was a bully and frequently targeted Gordo. This story also led to Gordo's father trying to burn him alive after thinking he was gay, resulting in his father's arrest. Robyn goes to Simon's home office and searches his desk, finding two files. One contains information about Gordo, and the other is about Danny McDonald, the other finalist for the job that Simon is hoping to get. She sees a mugshot of Gordo, as he was apparently arrested years ago for burglary. Robyn later confronts Simon when he gets home, and he callously states that while he did not know what Gordo's father tried doing to him, he doesn't care since his dad was hard on him, but he toughed it out and didn't feel he's done anything wrong. He starts to comment on Robyn taking pills, and she slaps him, saying he's just as much a bully now as he was back then. Simon later apologized to her and said he did a background check on Gordo to protect themselves. Simon goes to a bar where Gordo is hosting a trivia contest. Afterward, Simon finds Gordo in a parking garage and gives him a half-hearted apology, mainly because Robyn told him to. Gordo says it's too late for that, and while Simon thinks he's done with the past, the past isn't done with him. Simon knocks a basket out of Gordo's hands, spilling papers everywhere. Simon then kicks Gordo as he tries to pick them up, then presses him against the pavement, demanding that he accept his apology. Simon leaves and goes home to tell Robyn that Gordo won't bother them again. Simon gets the job, and the Callums host a dinner party to celebrate. A clattering sound is heard from upstairs, followed by another, and then something is thrown through the glass door, triggering the security system. Simon runs outside and sees someone running away. He tackles the man to the ground, thinking it's Gordo, but it is Danny McDonald, angry with Simon for fabricating information about him that not only cost him the promotion, but it also cost him his current job. Police sirens are heard, and Danny starts begging to be let go. Simon relents and allows him to leave. Robyn then announces that she's going into labor. Robyn gives birth to a healthy baby boy. However, she tells Simon that she doesn't want to go back home with him due to all the drama and madness he's caused. When he leaves her room, he gets a call from work saying he's being let go after word got out that he lied about Danny. Simon returns home to find a big wrapped box outside. In it is a baby bassinet the, and three numbered boxes. The first one contains a key to their house, showing how Gordo has been getting in and around their home. The second box has a tape that recorded Simon mocking Gordo when he left them to take his phone call. The third box contains a DVD of recorded footage showing Simon and Robyn having dinner and sleeping. Then there's footage of Robyn when she passed out, followed by Gordo wearing a monkey mask (to spite Simon since he has a phobia of monkeys) and pulling Robyn onto the bed, stroking her and waving to the mirror. The footage cuts off, leaving Simon to think that Gordo may have raped Robyn. While Simon watches the DVD, Gordo visits Robyn in the hospital with flowers to congratulate her on her baby. He has a bruise on his face and his arm in a sling. Robyn asks if Simon did it. Gordo states merely that people will get what they deserve and he exits. Simon rushes back to the hospital and finds Gordo getting into an elevator, but he fails to catch him. Simon runs out the hospital to give chase and receives a call from Gordo. He demands to know if Gordo did what Simon thinks he did. Gordo says no but then suggests maybe he did, and this is what happens when a bad idea is put into someone's head. Simon goes to find the baby to get a better look at his eyes. It still doesn't let him know whether the baby is Simon's or Gordo's. Robyn holds the baby and looks at Simon with displeasure. Simon slumps against the wall and quietly weeps, knowing his whole life is now ruined. Gordo briefly watches Simon before leaving and removing the sling from his arm; his mission to heartlessly destroy Simon's life is now completed.

A man whose masculinity comes into question when he attempted to court Christina and was denied claiming her to be a lesbian. A very talkative man who ends up propelling himself off an exercise bike when he starts talking about Christina. The scene shifts back to the sexist man whose claims of Christina's lesbianism causes an entire crowd of women to attack him with baseball bats. Christina Walters is a 28-year-old successful interior designer and Courtney Rockcliffe (Christina Applegate) who is a divorce lawyer as they console their friend and roommate Jane (Selma Blair), who had recently broken up with her boyfriend Kevin (who dumped her 3 days before their 1-year anniversary), by taking her out to a dance club and cancel their plans to stay in for pizza. Christina tells Jane not to make herself too exposed and vulnerable all the time. She advocates looking for "Mr. Right Now", instead of "Mr. Right" and says that if the guy is worthy, the "now" part will simply drop away. At the club, Jane feels out of place and Christina grabs a man passing by to set Jane up with. The guy walks away saying that he has some friends waiting for him. Jane feels that the guy rejected her, but Christina retorts that the guy was simply a jerk. The guy overhears and returns to confront Christina. This is how Christina meets Peter Donahue (Thomas Jane) who confronts Christina for her methods (to set random men up with her friends) before disappearing for the night. Christina tells Peter that he might actually meet a fun woman if he didn't play it so safe all the time. Meanwhile Jane finds a date all by herself. While in the bathroom with Courtney, she calls him by name (Peter), leading her to suspect that he got under Christina's skin, and she is actually attracted to him which she denies. After running into Peter again, Christina buys him a drink and they spend time together. He explains that he will be attending a wedding on Saturday, and that he's at the club with his obnoxious, womanizing brother Roger (Jason Bateman) to celebrate. Roger comes by to meet Peter and finds Christina at the bar. Roger reveals that he is getting married that weekend. Peter invites Christina and Courtney to an after-party at their hotel, but Christina goes home and later regrets not going. The next day, Christina cannot stop talking about Peter, while Jane deals with an embarrassing "cleanup" from her fun with the guy she met the night before. Jane had borrowed Courtney's dress for the previous night, and she wanted to drop it off to the dry cleaners before she joined the girls for lunch. The girls cannot hold their curiosity and find a huge semen stain on Courtney's dress that Jane borrowed. Jane returns to the lunch and the women talk about always complimenting men for the sizes of their penises, eventually breaking out into a restaurant-wide "Penis Song". Meanwhile Peter admits to Roger that he liked Christina, but now he can't do anything about it as she is gone and there is no way to contact her. Courtney arranges for Christina and herself to travel to Somerset, where Peter's brother's wedding is to take place, and they meet Jane's boyfriend (who is at Christina's apartment having sex with Jane). Jane admits to Christina that her boyfriend is very cute, has a huge penis, but is very stupid. As a recurring gag, they indicate that he is well endowed, causing misery and enjoyment from Jane. After they leave in Courtney's Saab 9-5, Christina and Courtney go on a series of misadventures. Christina finds an old foil wrapped leftover dinner in the back of Courtney's car. Christina throws it out the window, but it hits the windshield. The girls enter a gas station to clean the car and clean themselves. They encounter an exploding toilet (due to which all their clothes get wet), a glory hole discovery, and a motorcyclist who is led to believe Christina is giving Courtney oral sex (the girls were drying their clothes and were driving in their undergarments). Meanwhile, Jane encounters her boyfriend at her retail job and is nearly caught having sex with him in the changing rooms. When Christina and Courtney finally get to Somerset, they visit a store to replace their wet and ruined clothing, only to come out in extremely gaudy, indiscreet outfits. Christina begins having second thoughts, but a series of coincidences occasions a change of heart, and they go to Peter's brother's wedding. Arriving, they discover that it is Peter, not Roger who is getting married, and the pair nearly ruin the ceremonies in their attempts to escape. Peter and his fiance then decide that they do not want to marry each other, and they call off the wedding (much to her father's chagrin) while Christina returns home and back to a newly unfulfilled life of being single again. Christina and Courtney help Jane get out of a sexual situation with her boyfriend where the emergency crew was called in. Later, Peter finds Christina's address in the log at the store they bought their clothing in and tracks her down. Christina, determined not to fear the commitment, kisses Peter and then walks away disappointed. Sometime later, Courtney is dating a doctor and is clearly very attracted to him, and Peter is interviewed like the men at the beginning of the film, retelling his version of the events calling her a b***h and a player, but ultimately revealing that he and Christina are together, having gotten married and are living very happily with Jane and Courtney and Roger as well. Whether they all live together is left ambiguous.

Todd Howard (Jason Bateman), the cousin of Scott Howard, has recently been accepted into Hamilton University on a full athletic scholarship on the recommendation of Coach Bobby Finstock (Paul Sand), who was Scott's basketball coach at Beacontown High. Finstock's hope is that Todd has the family genes to become a Werewolf and turn Finstock's new struggling boxing team into championship contenders. Dean Dunn (John Astin) has put Finstock under a lot of pressure to win the upcoming regional boxing championships. Dunn is not happy about Finstock bringing in Todd, as Todd has not achieved anything in the sports arena as of yet. Dean Dunn has promised the alumni that he will give them a winning boxing team and the closest Todd has ever been to sports is in a marching band, playing the clarinet. Uncle Harold Howard (James Hampton) drops Todd off the college and Todd hasn't had his first Wolf-Out yet. Todd is not looking forward to his Wolf-out and feels that the condition embarrasses him. Todd wants to fit in. Harold says sometimes it can skip a generation, so nothing to worry about. Rupert "Stiles" Stilinski (Stuart Fratkin) is Todd's roommate. Stiles was Scott's best friend in high school and knows all about the "family problem". Stiles changes all of Todd's classes and registers him for the classes that have majority of girls in them. Chubby is their dorm mate and the current college boxing champion. The admissions lady (Kathleen Freeman) is rude and doesn't allow changes to classes. But Todd starts to have a Wolf-out with glowing eyes and a deep, throaty voice, and she gets scared and agrees to everything that Todd says. Having never been very good at sports, and because he is more interested in being a veterinarian, Todd is certain that Finstock has the wrong guy. Professor Tanya Brooks (Kim Darby) is Todd's faculty advisor and knows about his situation. Todd has signed up for the science courses in college to achieve his dream. Finstock tells Todd that he is supposed to train for boxing. Todd finally understands that Finstock gave him a sports scholarship (due to his surname and the fact that he coached Scott at his previous high school) as he expects Todd to wolf-out and win the boxing championship for them. Todd is shockingly bad in the boxing ring. Finstock's job is the on the line and he has staked everything on Todd's Wolf-out. Todd meets Nicki (Estee Chandler) in class and befriends her. Todd even asks Nicki out on a date. During a meet and greet reception of school alumni, Todd has his first "Wolf-out" while dancing with a seductive hostess Lisa Goldfluss (Beth Ann Miller). Dean Dunn forced Lisa to dance with Todd, even though Todd was there with Nicki as his date. Todd was getting all Handsy and flirty with Lisa when the Wolf-out occurs. At first, Todd is horrified by his "family affliction", and fellow students begin to harass him (Putting ants under his seat in class, no dogs allowed signs all over the college). Stiles on the other hand wants Todd to take advantage of his tremendous gift. Dean Dunn threatens Todd with expulsion if he loses his first upcoming fight. Brooks and Nicki are very supportive during this phase. Nicki kisses Todd to improve his self-esteem as he believes that everybody thinks he is a dog. Then, during his first boxing match, after nearly getting knocked out, Todd has his second "Wolf-out" only this time he is able to display his supernatural agility and strength and has a dramatic come from behind victory, thus earning the admiration of the students as well as the strict Dean Dunn. With his newfound fame comes girls, top grades and even the dean's car but as the year goes on, Todd realizes that he is losing his friends and self-respect as he ignored his friends and supporters. Todd starts spending with the college heart throb Lisa and ignores Nicki. Chubby (Mark Holton) was the previous boxing favorite before Todd found his abilities and feel lefts out. Steve "Gus" Gustavson is Todd's greatest rival in the ring as the 2 are in different colleges and are heading towards a final's bout for the championship. Nicki tries to tell Todd that they all only love the Wolf, and not Todd. Even Prof Brooks tells Todd that having special powers, brings special responsibilities. Brooks tells Tood that he is failing her class. Todd quickly realizes that the fame goes away once the Wolf thing is too old. And all the friends that he ignored on the way up, now ignore him on the way down. Todd seeks out advice from his uncle, Scott's father, Harold Howard, who helps Todd comes to terms with his responsibilities and prepares him for the championship which he says Todd should out without wolfing out. Todd also reconnects with his girlfriend, Nicki, who helps him regain his focus of being humble. Todd decides to take the final test with Prof Brooks, by studying all night with Nicki. The test was on the same day as the championship match, and just 3 hours before. Todd prioritizes his studies over fame and adulation due to the wolf. Todd passes the test with Brooks and wins her respect. Todd then decides that he will fight his championship match against Steve "Gus" Gustavson (Robert Neary), who Todd had prior issues with, as himself rather than the wolf much to the dismay of all except his uncle, girlfriend and Professor Tanya Brooks. Dean meets Todd in the locker room before the fight and threatens him of revoking his scholarship, if Todd doesn't fight as a wolf. He promises to take care of grade, cars and women, if Todd complies. Brooks, who unbeknownst to Todd is also a werewolf, intimidates Dean Dunn with glowing red eyes, growling, and swaying her tail. After losing round after round, and nearly getting knocked out, Todd is tempted to become the wolf until he sees Nicki mouth the words "I love you" to him. This gives Todd the strength to overcome Gus and knocks him out to a roaring ovation.
