Nandu (Bobby Deol) is an orphan turned assassin. He`s framed for a politician`s murder and is on the run. While travelling on a train, he meets Puran (Akshay Kapoor), who is on his way to his hometown after fourteen years. They talk through the journey and Puran tells Nandu all about his joint family and the wedding of a cousin that he is on his way to attend. Soon, the police catch up with Nandu and shoot him. But unfortunately Puran takes the bullet while shielding his new friend and dies on the spot. Nandu goes to Puran`s family home to return his grandfather`s watch and also to inform his family of his tragic death. But, in their joyful state amidst the celebrations, they presume that Nandu is Shekhar and drag him full on into it. Preet is a friend of the family and falls in love with Nandu on first sight. Nandu also likes her but CBI Inspector Rane is all out to look for the politician`s murderer. Will Nandu ever ride over the crisis? Who is the actual killer? What happens to Nandu and Preet`s love?

A plane-load of passengers are stranded in distant Ganganagar in rural India as their plane is unable to take off due to technical problems. The Airport Manager is Saif R. Khan (Arshad Warsi), intoxicated and belligerent at most times, gets to meet his former sweetheart, Gulab Khan (Mahima Chaudhry), in the company of her husband Gul Khan; Gul does not respect Gulab, Gul is a prominent writer and a celebrity. Gulab has a connecting flight in Delhi to London and is worries that the flight delay will lead to her missing her flight. Gulab tells Saif that she and Gul are getting a divorce. Gulab and Saif used to date and Saif still loves Gulab. Gulab never knew this, and Saif never said anything to her.. He got stuck in Delhi in riots and by the time he came back to Ganganagar, Gulab was married.. Khan's wise-cracking Sikh Assistant, Ram Saran Dubey (Jaspal Bhatti), whose mother is a Sardarni, while his dad is from Bihar; Saif speaks to Gul, without Gul knowing anything going on between Gulab and Saif. Saif realizes that Gul loves Gulab, and just doesn't say it, which was the same issue with Saif. Saif meets Gulab and tells her to go back to Gul. Gulab tells Gul that she doesn't want a divorce, and Gul confirms that he loves her. An estranged father, Sunil Wadhwa (Sachin Khedekar), and his wife Vibha (Iravati Harshe) try to pacify their daughter Nitika into accepting their imminent separation; Sunil is a doctor and lives in London. He comes to Ganganagar once a yr to meet Nitika.. This time Nitika wants him to stay and make up with Vibha. Sunil still have Vibha's pics on his screen-saver. Vibha still collects Sunil's old cigarette butts as memories of times they spent together. They both realize that they have both been each other always.. while Italian Siddharth (Parvin Dabas) has only a few hours to make up his mind who he wants to marry, Anita Ahuja or Manju Narang, who both happen to be cousins, and both aggressively want to be his wife; Siddharth is caught in the violent cross fire. Due to the flight delay he misses his train to Chandigarh where he was supposed to meet another prospective girl. When he calls their home, he is informed that the girl ran away with her girlfriend. Eventually the ladies realize that Siddharth is too self centered to care about anyone and they reject him.. Eventually Manju steps back and asks Siddharth to marry Anita.. Danny and Mina are recently married and Mina is the one who dominates Danny. With them on the honeymoon are Danny's dad Col. Shamsher "Bubbles" Kapoor (Kanwaljit Singh) and Mina's spinster aunt Chanchal (Mrinal Kulkarni). Shamsher and Chanchal love each other and Chanchal is afraid that their kids would judge them. Shamsher knows that Danny is lost and weak as he lost his mom (who was an army doctor), when she died in a terrorist attack during a border posting. Shamsher and Chanchal get closer and Chanchal offers to speak to Danny as his mother. This works as Danny finds his confidence and reverses the equation with Mina. He ignores Mina, who now starts running after Danny. The Pilot Captain Vikram Sinha (Rohit Roy) is shattered when he gets the news that his affair with air-hostess, Rachna (Sandhya Mridul) (who is married to a wonderful husband Ravi and feels guilty about betraying him), has resulted in a much avoidable pregnancy; Ravi didn't like kids and hence they have 3 dogs instead.. this led Rachna to have an affair and she is happy to be preggers. Vikram wants to marry Rachna, but Rachna refuses as Vikram is married to her friend Nisha, and she cant betray her. Ravi now knows about Rachna sleeping with Vikram and hates her for the same. Rachna tells Ravi that she is preggers from another man, and tells him to get out of her house. Ben Sidebottom (Ashwin Mushran) is a Tibetan monk, who came to India to study and fell in love with his boarding school teacher Jenny. Abhay Khona is an antiques dealer from Jaipur. and Internet lovers Farah and Rahul finally meet (Rahul has just finished school and Farah has come to meet him, lying to her dad). She has to return to Delhi by the 4 pm flight - only to come to face with reality as Farah's father does not approve of her affair with Rahul (he finds out when the flight is over 6 hrs late and the secret is out that Farah left Delhi), and does not want her to come home. Farah and Rahul have different dreams. Rahul wants to settle in NY, have 4 kids and wants Farah to be a housewife. While Farah wont leave Delhi, wants 2 kids and wants to be a doctor. Farah is distraught with her father abandoning her & goes missing then. All this happens in the midst of a mysterious male who is asleep on a bench in the Airport Lounge, and he is not to be disturbed under any circumstances. The mysterious male turns out to be Farah's idol Shah Rukh Khan, who persuades her to go back home with Rahul, and makes sure that their parents approve it.

Raj (Abhishek Bachchan) is a happy and free-spirited Indian-American bachelor living with his mother Dr. Spocks Malhotra (Suhasini Mulay). Raj visits his ancestral homeland in Mumbai, to attend his cousin Nikki's (Meghna Malik) wedding. Nikki has sisters Pooja (Jennifer Winget) & Aria (Zoya Afroz). Raj was forced to attend due to his mom being busy with her patients, who require critical attention. Dr. Malhotra laments to her brother, Rakesh (Nikki's father), that Raj is out of her control. Rakesh promises that if she sends Raj to India, he will find a suitable match for him. Dr. Malhotra argues with Raj that he is the only cousin brother in the family and hence his presence is needed at her engagement, with Dr. Malhotra promising to come for the wedding. Raj knows that Rakesh will try to fix him up with a girl and says that he loves his freedom too much. Nikki calls Raj and says that she does not want to get married, and she is being forced. She says that only Raj can stand up to Rakesh. At the airport, Raj finds that he was a late show, and his seat was assigned to another lady. Raj lies to the lady that he has a 3-year-old son who has a rare heart disease and its imperative that he gets on the flight. The lady takes sympathy on Raj and gives her seat to Raj, taking the next available flight. Once in India, Raj narrates a story to Rakesh that Nikki's fiance Ajay is gay and has a boyfriend in the US, and he is leaving him to marry Nikki. Ajay still loves the boyfriend, but did not have the courage to speak to his parents about him and hence is being forced to marry Nikki. Rakesh is now convinced that Nikki cannot marry Ajay. He reaches home to call off the wedding. Nikki is shocked and tells Raj that she loves Ajay. Raj is forced to admit the truth to Rakesh and apologizes to Ajay, who is a really nice guy. Raj finds himself pushed towards marriage by his overzealous uncle Rakesh Sharma (Satish Shah) who is also Nikki's father. His uncle's employee, Namrata (Aishwarya Rai) chaperons Raj on a series of set-ups/dates, all of which he deliberately sabotages. Turns out Namrata was the lady whom Raj lied to at the airport. She was in the US to bring back some dresses for Nikki. And due to Raj's antics, she got late returning to India and arrived just before the engagement with the dresses and jewelry that Nikki wanted to wear on the occasion. Naturally Namrata is taken aback when she realizes that Raj told her a blatant lie just for an airline seat. Still Namrata is forced to spend time with Raj as Rakesh has promised her a promotion if Raj gets married during his trip to India. Raj says that he is uncomfortable meeting the women in a family setting and Namrata convinces Rakesh that the meetings could be private. The first girl is Rachna (Divya Palat), whom Raj meets in a temple and says that he believes in re-incarnation. He says that in their previous life, they had a kid, and they died when they fell off a mountain in Kedarnath. She was named Savitri back then. Raj claims that Savitri's body was found 3 days later, and he never re-married. Rachna gets really spooked by this story and runs away. The next girl is Poonam (Gautami Kapoor), who he meets at a club. Poonam breaks down when her ex Vikram (Eijaz Khan) enters the club. Raj and Namrata help Poonam get back together with her ex. During the course of the wedding ceremonies, Raj discovers that he is falling for Namrata. After some deliberation, he decides to tell her, but to his surprise, he discovers she has a 7-year-old son, Aditya (Master Parth Dave). Raj is confused but forms a strong fatherly relationship with Aditya. Raj's uncle informs him that Namrata's husband Sanjeev (Arbaaz Khan) disappeared right before Aditya's birth and has never returned to his son or wife. Finding a letter that Raj had written confessing his feelings, Namrata gets upset thinking Raj tried to use her son to get close to her. She attempts to distance herself from him, but a stubborn Raj follows her to Aditya's boarding school with Principal Ms. Loccolith Lobo (Tannaz Irani), having promised the boy to pose as his father. Raj helps Aditya look good in front of his friends and protects his self-confidence. On being prodded by Raj, she tells him that her husband Sanjeev left her for another woman while she was pregnant. Namrata and Raj begin to bond. After some months, Raj decides to introduce Namrata to his mother. A short while later, he finds out that Sanjeev has returned and is looking to reconcile with Namrata. Namrata is aghast and makes it clear that she does not want anything to do with him. Sanjeev says that he left for US with a girl to make money. But after 4 years the girl left with all the money. Sanjeev then spent the next 3 years working hard and getting himself back up, so he could come back and claim his family back. Sanjeev refuses to leave, becoming stubborn and persistent, threatening her with a lawsuit for custody of Aditya. This puts Namrata on the path of reconciliation with Sanjeev. Raj's family feels Sanjeev has no right on Namrata and Aditya, but the decision belongs to her and her alone. After a chance meeting at a temple, Raj invites Sanjeev to his home for Nikki's wedding. Aditya is present and is affectionate with Raj, calling him "Dad." Sanjeev becomes jealous and angry, insulting Raj and his family. After witnessing Sanjeev's bad behavior towards Raj, Namrata finally gets the courage to stand up to him. She publicly tells him off and also admits that she is in love with Raj. Sanjeev is ashamed and disappears once again warning Raj to not make the mistakes he made with his family. Six months later Raj and Namrata decide to get married and are soon expecting a child.

Inspired by the Telugu film, "Pelli Chuskundam," the plot follows the life of a rape victim (Aishwarya Rai). Now, a disgrace to her family, she is turned away from her house after the sexual assault. But she finds shelter in the character played by Anil Kapoor. —Gonz30 Naive yet bold and daring, Preeti Virat, comes forward as a witness to heinous assault carried by Bhavani Choudhry and his men on a person who owes them money. Bhavani is arrested and held for trial. This angers the Choudhry family. The victim is threatened with dire consequences, and he withdraws the complaint, and as a result Bhavani is released and all charges are dropped. Preeti is then raped by one of the Choudhry men, and subsequently her very own family disowns her. She finds shelter with another do-gooder, Avinash, who even takes her to his apartment. But the story does not end here, for the neighborhood is soon in an uproar over her, and want her to leave. The only solution is that Preeti marry Avinash, she agrees to do so, and then finds out that there is two children who called Avinash "daddy", and she does not know if there is another woman or even a wife involved. An assassin is sent to kill the witness from testifying against the killers. In the process, the assassin falls in love with the witness. Assistant Commissioner of Police Jaidev Singh gets burned to death by a group of people leaving behind a witness who is an air-hostess called Neha Verma. The police manages to recover her Identification Card at the scene of crime where-by they call her in to name the assailants; she does manages to provide them with a name, Samrat Singhania, who happen to be the son of Mr. Singhania, the Minister within the state's ruling party. While in Mauritius, Neha happens to meet with a young man named Vicky and is in love with him. After the marriage, Neha comes to know that Vicky is not really who is says he is, but a killer who has been hired to prevent her from testifying against the Singhanias. A cop trains a criminal Raja to end the reign of a deadly underworld don. But the mission falters when Raja falls in love and puts everyone's life and the mission at risk. On 1st May, 1993, a bomb explode claiming the lives of hundreds of Mumbai, India citizens with the majority being children. Terrorist Jagat Jogia claims responsibility for this outrage but unfortunately the investigating officer, Jay Suryavanshi cannot press charge or arrest Jagat as his where-about is known to be in London, England. Jay then arranges a meeting and convinces the high command to rescue dreaded criminal, Jeet Balraj from death row only to then provide Jeet with the necessary documents to travel to London and arranges living quarters for him with a motive of killing Jagat Jogia. Jeet then rename himself Raja only to meet and fall in love with Manpreet Kaur alias Mini. Jay discusses this matter with his senior, and together they recruit dreaded killer, Jeet Balraj, rename him Raja, save him from death-row, promise him freedom in exchange for killing Jagat Jogia, to which Jeet agrees. Jeet is provided with money, passport and living quarters in London, and he re-locates. Upon arrival, he meets with Manpreet Kaur, and both of them fall in love. This story revolves around a love couple and a police duo. Vicky is the younger brother of Rice Business man Inder Rai and loves Kiran daughter of a poor man Raushan Lal. The police duo comprises of Jaspal Bhatti(SSP) and Vivek Shauk his PA, who involve in a lot of corrupt activities although with a lot of laughters. Due to some business rivalry Inder gets killed another businessman by hiring a contract killer of Shera Group. The assigned killer Billu Bakra kills the businessman but is not caught. Later on SSP convinces Kiran's poor father Raushan Lal to take the blame on him and in return promises 2 lakh rupees for treatment of Raushan's ailing son. Later on Vicky investigates the whole matter and finds out that it was his brother and SSP who have planned the plot and got Raushan lal arrested. Things starts revealing in a comic manner and in the end the police duo is finally arrested on charges of corruption by the IG himself and Inder saves Kiran's ailing brother by donating his own kidney. In short this movie tells a lot about corruption in the police system in a very funny take on the political system of the country. The love angle between SSP Bhatti and Principal Preeti is a cherry on the cake. —Ashutosh Mohle

Rohan Khanna (Akshaye Khanna) is a jobless graduate living with his grandfather (Alok Nath) and his mother (Moushumi Chatterjee). Rohan has been tirelessly looking for a decent job without success. One day, Rohan's neighbor, Ranjit arrives to bring his parents to America. Ranjit lives in America, owns a motel, a home, a car, and is married to an American woman. He wishes to keep his parents in America to live in peace. After listening to Rohan's desire for a job, he suggests that Rohan should move to America. Ranjit promises Rohan success and Rohan is immediately persuaded. He tells his mother and grandfather of his wish and they are abruptly reminded of Rohan's late father, Balraj Khanna (Rajesh Khanna) who left his wife and son for America after a bitter argument with his father. In a bus accident, Balraj is killed leaving Rohan orphaned and his mother widowed. To avoid the same fate of his son, Rohan's grandfather prepares Rohan's visa for America. Rohan arrives in America and immediately meets Sardar Khan (Kader Khan), a Pakistani man who makes a living by driving a taxi. Rohan's good manners and friendly personality wins Sardar over as he drives Rohan to Ranjit's hotel. Rohan does not have any spare cash to pay Sardar so he asks Sardar to stay while he asks Ranjit for the taxi fare. He is shocked when Ranjit does not give him money or a place to stay saying that Rohan has to be able to help himself. Sardar overhears the two arguing. Rohan looks and sees that Ranjit's father and mother are working at the hotel and facing much verbal abuse from Ranjit's wife. This is not the peace that Ranjit had promised his parents. Sardar offers Rohan a place to stay much to the dismay of his roommate, Iqbal Singh (Jaspal Bhatti), a Punjabi man from India. Rohan is allowed to stay with Iqbal and Sardar with the persuasion of Chaurasia (Satish Kaushik. Chaurasia runs an Indian restaurant and betel leaf shop. Rohan is given a job as a taxi driver. One day, while making routes near the airport, he picks up a young Indian woman named Pooja (Aishwarya Rai). Pooja has just arrived in America to live with her older brother and his wife. Much to the shock of Pooja, her brother only brought her here because his boss had seen a picture of Pooja and had fallen in love with her. Pooja's brother insists that Pooja marry his boss and in anger, she leaves his home without money and no where to go. Rohan sees Pooja crying and he offers her a place to stay with Iqbal and Sardar. Iqbal and Sardar discover that Pooja and Rohan have brought happiness into their house and the give them not only a place in their home, but a place in their hearts. Iqbal, Sardar, and Chaurasia pitch in to provide jobs for both newcomers. They are also acquainted with PC Jack Patel (Paresh Rawal) who is a police inspector on weekdays and a Hindu priest on weekends. He observes both jobs faithfully by preserving American law and Hindu values. Both Pooja and Rohan begin to work at a Dunkin' Donuts but after a tussle with some customers who tried to harass Pooja, both are fired and without jobs. This protective relationship between Rohan and Pooja causes Pooja to fall in love with him deeply much to the happiness of Iqbal and Sardar. Rohan finds a job as a gas station employee and Pooja remains unemployed. One day at Chaurasia's restaurant, Rohan becomes frustrated with his lack of progress and Chaurasia advises Rohan to get a Green Card by marrying an NRI girl. Rohan and Pooja go to an Indian dance to search for an NRI girl much to Pooja's disapproval. There, Rohan meets the seductive Loveleen (Suman Ranganathan) and he falls in love with her immediately. Pooja, Iqbal, and Sardar do everything to keep Loveleen away from Rohan until Rohan becomes aggravated and tells the three to stay away from him and Loveleen. Iqbal tells Pooja to follow Rohan and Loveleen to Seaside Heights and declare her love for him. She is rejected by Rohan and he later tells her to stay away from him. Iqbal and Sardar accuse him of being consumed by money. Rohan tells them that they are jealous of his progress. Iqbal tells Rohan that one day he will regret his decision one day and come back to Pooja. Rohan leaves the house for Loveleen in rage. In order to forget Rohan, Pooja finds a job as a caretaker for a rich Indian man who is ill. We discover that this man is Balraj Khanna, Rohan's estranged father who has not died. Balraj has been living in New York with his son, Karan. Karan's mother left Balraj when Karan was very young. Karan has grown to be a spoiled and arrogant young man who is also friends with Loveleen. He consistently asks his father for money to spend for his enjoyment. He even took a loan from Marko, a dangerous drug dealer and Karan has not yet paid him back. In order to pay back his debts, he is assigned to transport drugs around the country. Balraj begins to take a liking to Pooja and considers her as a daughter. He wants to keep her in his home so he asks her to consider marrying Karan. Karan and Pooja are both against the idea. Meanwhile, Rohan is beginning to realize that Loveleen's American culture deeply goes against his and he begins to regret his decision. He becomes fed up with her ways and realizes he is really in love with Pooja. He leaves Loveleen with no where to go because of his poor decisions. Jack Patel forces Iqbal, Sardar, and Rohan to reconcile and they forgive Rohan for his mistakes. Rohan sets out to ask Pooja for forgiveness. She is in Springfield with Balraj at the moment and Rohan arrives there to meet her. After a confrontation between Rohan and Pooja, Rohan tells her that they will go back home to India together, hence Aa Ab Laut Chalen (Come, Let's Go Back). Pooja forgives Rohan and Rohan gives her a locket with a picture of his mother inside saying that it is a promise that he will marry her. Pooja tells Balraj that she has fallen in love with a man named Rohan and he encourages her love for him. Meanwhile, Karan becomes desperate for the money so he decides to marry Pooja. After violently urging her to marry him, her locket falls on the ground and Balraj picks it up. When handing it to her, he sees Rohan's mother, and his wife. He realizes that Rohan is his son but does not tell Pooja. After hearing that he is unemployed, he tells Pooja that he will give Rohan a job in his company. But he fears that his son will not accept him as a father though because he left him and his mother back in India. Rohan accepts the job and is deeply grateful to Balraj. He wishes for a chance to meet him. Balraj continues his generosity from afar by giving Rohan a $5000 bonus. Rohan returns to Ranjit's motel and frees Ranjit's parents by paying for their tickets to return to India. Ranjit is also arrested by Jack Patel for keeping the passports of his parents. Rohan spends the rest of his money by buying gifts for all his friends including Iqbal, Sardar, and Chaurasia. His mother is also happy to know that Rohan has found the love of his life and a decent job. One day, Rohan is invited to a party where that Balraj will attend. When Rohan meets Balraj, he is stunned to realize that Balraj is his father and very much alive. He reacts in anger and tells him that he has left his mother a widow and his son an orphan. Balraj openly confesses to everyone that he has left his wife and son in India and does not deserve everyone's respect. Balraj reveals that after he arrived in America, he went back to India to find his family but he could not. Hence, he married another woman. Rohan sill cannot bring himself to forgive his father because he has caused his mother's suffering. Balraj insists to speak to his wife to ask for forgiveness. Rohan calls his mother to tell her that her husband is still alive. She immediately forgives Balraj and asks them to come back to India. Karan emerges saying that if Balraj leaves for India, he has to leave his fortunes to Karan in America. Balraj refuses and tries to slap Karan but Karan stops him. Karan tries to slap Balraj but Rohan stops him. Rohan and Balraj embrace and Balraj tells Karan he will give all his property to him but he will not be his father. Balraj, Rohan, and Pooja all leave for India. They say their goodbyes to Iqbal and Sardar as well. Suddenly, PC Jack Patel arrives with Karan. Turns out that Karan has turned in important information about Marko to the officials. Karan tells Balraj that he does not want the wealth but he wants to return to India with the rest of his family. Rohan and Balraj accept Karan and the family leaves for India. We later see Rohan's mother welcoming Balraj, Rohan, Pooja, and Karan in their home and they finally live happily together.
