A couple living in rural Punjab seek to send their son to a posh convent school in the city, since they're convinced that knowing English is the key to succeeding in this world. However, their selfish ambition puts a strain on their relationship with the child.

Neeta and Mishri, the kids of the two most eligible contenders to become the head of their locality, have an air of arrogance around them and their families hold great animosity against each other. In a twist of fate, however, they fall in love with each other and decide to elope. Years later, when they return, they find the people of their town buckled under a certain problem. Will their families help the community or will they hold onto their personal agendas?

Bhalwan Singh, the main protagonist of the story is desperate to stand against the British Empire, but he is not sure how to do it. Whilst he tries hard, all his efforts go in vain and he even fails to impress the girl of his dreams. Slowly, Bhalwan Singh and his friend, Dittu decide to take things into their own hands and kidnap a British architect. Soon, things start to fall in place for the duo in the most funny way and Bhalwan gets noticed that he yearns for.

Vekh Baraathan Challiyan is the story of Jaggi, a bus conductor and Sarla, a student who belong to two different communities. Whilst Jaggi is a Jatt Sikh from Punjab, Sarla is a Hindu Jaat from Haryana, however, despite the cultural difference, the two fall in love and decide to get married. But, Sarla`s father who is a strong believer in astrology lays down the condition that the two can marry only if their horoscopes match. This is where problem arises, the astrologer discovers that Jaggi is a Manglik and informs Sarla`s father that if the two marry, his daughter will either die or suffer from health issues throughout her life and the only way to save their marriage is Jaggi marrying a bitch first. Jaggi agrees for the marriage and a series of comedic events ensues.

The film is an emotional family drama revolving around a child and his forced visit to Punjab conceived with a comic tone.

Set in the year 1947, the film talks about how two people fall in love with each other, while living in a conservative society that forbids opposite gender interacting with each other.
