The Sharma family, consisting of Mr. and Mrs. Sharma, their daughter Mini, and nephew Bunty, move into a spacious house in the city to start fresh. Shortly after arrival, Bunty discovers a black cat in the backyard and becomes attached to it, but the cat is accidentally killed when Mr. Sharma runs it over with his car. The family buries the animal without telling Bunty to spare his feelings. Days later, Bunty finds another cat that looks identical to the dead one, which deeply unsettles the family and marks the beginning of their supernatural troubles. Mini, who is romantically involved with a young man named Deepak, begins experiencing strange episodes. During one outing, their motorcycle gets a flat tire, and when Deepak leaves to fix it, he returns to find Mini sitting by a pond, crying and displaying reddened eyes with an altered, disturbing demeanor. In this state, she pushes Deepak into the pond before immediately returning to normal with no memory of her actions. The situation escalates tragically when Mini's close friend Rashmi is found dead with her neck twisted completely backwards in an unnatural position.
