This is a re-make of the much under-appreciated, but classic Spencer Tracy movie Bad Day at Black Rock (1955).

The paths of several eccentric and troubled strangers cross one night. The criminal Carlos breaks out from prison and her pimp Felonious Spinks drives the runaway car. Carlos seeks revenge against the criminal Henrique, who raped and introduced her to prostitution. The smalltime crook Johnny is married with Jane, but he is still fancy Olivia that is the love of his life and will marry his best friend Bill while Jane organizes a shower for Olivia. Johnny's father is the pedophile Mr. Grand that sells abducted teenagers to Henrique. Mr. Grand has injured his wife when she asked for the divorce and now she is crippled. Johnny plots a scheme with the travesty Gigi LaRush to separate Olivia from Bill and is negotiating fake passports with Carlos and Spinks. In Los Angeles, Quincy and his cousin Evan work at Spoil magazine. Quincy is an editor but Evan's job is never specified. Evan warns Quincy that Philip (known as Junior) is now in charge and plans layoffs. Philip calls Quincy to his office, but it is not to let him go. Because of Quincy's psychology degree, Philip believes Quincy is the right person to design procedures for laying people off without making them mad enough to take revenge. Quincy takes numerous books home where he is greeted by his girlfriend Helen's dog, who is still there for some reason. Quincy goes to Sig Sag to meet Helen, for their engagement party. But Helen wants to spend time apart. Quincy returns to work with a plan for firing people, and Philip hands him a list of the people to let go and tells Quincy to do it. After having to fire Sam, who thought he was coming in for a friendly chat, Quincy puts his name on the list of people to fire and walks out. Evan comes to Quincy's house because his mother was concerned about him. Quincy is a mess and so is the house. However, he has a big pile of papers on which he has attempted to write a breakup letter. That process is similar to being let go from a job. Spoil agrees to publish a book called Spoil's Breakup Handbook and before long it is climbing the newspaper's best-seller list. Quincy is making appearances at bookstores and on TV. Evan's girlfriend Nicky sees Quincy on TV while getting her hair done and realizes she wants to make a change. Afterward, she regrets what she has done. She had long hair but now looks like Halle Berry. Evan comes over but she won't let him see her so Evan goes to Quincy's house. Evan, thinking this means their relationship might be over, asks Quincy to meet with Nicky, telling him she has long hair. Quincy goes to Sig Sag where Evan and Nicky were supposed to meet but none of the girls with long hair are Nicky. But Quincy is attracted to the short-haired girl sitting next to him. Nicky has heard everything, and she decides to introduce herself as Mary. Quincy is supposed to say positive things about Evan, but he tells the truth about Evan instead, including some things that are not flattering. Quincy and Mary hit it off. Quincy tells Evan that Nicky never showed but he met a girl he likes. Also aware of Quincy's book is Rita, Philip's girlfriend. Philip wants to break up and on several occasions he and Quincy meet so Quincy can give him advice. Evan is still at Quincy's house, getting drunk and getting Helen's dog drunk. Rita shows up and, believing Evan is Quincy, says she knows Quincy is helping Philip break up with her. Rita indicates she wants a relationship with Quincy, who is a real man unlike the wimpy Philip, and when Evan wakes up he finds her phone number on the mirror. At Philip's place Rita is reading the book in the bathtub, and then the two have a conversation that doesn't go well. Evan goes to Nicky's place and when he sees her hair, says he doesn't like it. He says she stood him up but she says she didn't and that she went out with someone. Evan says he thought she wanted to break up while Nicky says she didn't want to. While massaging the flirtatious Mr. Lynch at work, Nicky tells co-worker Amy that Evan dumped her. Quincy doesn't know so Nicky continues to date him. However, when Evan asks for advice he says Nicky cut her hair. Quincy realizes Mary is Nicky but doesn't say anything. Helen is on a plane reading Quincy's book. Rita and Philip have naughty sex. After Heather Hadley's concert Nicky asks about Evan and Quincy says Evan and his girl broke up and Evan isn't happy. While Quincy and Nicky are making out, Quincy gets an angry phone call from Rita and Nicky hears the message. Believing Quincy is cheating on her, she gets mad. Quincy has no idea what the message is about. He visits her at work but is told she is not there. Evan and Rita, who still thinks he is Quincy, meet for sex. But she meets Philip in a post office since it is a public place where violence is less likely, and says she wants to get married. Quincy and Nicky meet in a park and admits who she is and Quincy says he didn't know, at first. At a surprise party for Quincy, everything goes wrong. Nicky didn't want to go but Amy insisted. Evan sees Nicky with Amy and hides. Helen is there, and she introduces herself to Nicky as Quincy's girlfriend. Then Rita also introduces herself. Evan, who now knows Quincy was dating Nicky, gets angry and leaves. Philip is in the hospital. The explanation is shown in flashbacks. As he and Rita plan for their wedding, Philip has a heart attack. When Evan and Quincy are visiting at the same time, Rita learns Evan is not Quincy but doesn't get mad. She wants to continue the relationship. Helen comes back to Quincy's place intending to resume their relationship. However, her dog now hates her. Later, she demands that Quincy have the dog put down. Quincy takes the dog to the animal shelter but is told that pugs don't usually get adopted. There are already several pugs. Quincy adopts them all and they chase Helen out of his house. Quincy wants to get back together with Nicky but learns she is taking a train to Portland. In fact, Nicky is taking Mr. Lynch on the train at the request of his daughter. Quincy narrowly misses seeing Nicky at the train station. Then he finds out what train she is on and starts chasing the train. Nicky pulls the emergency brake and the train stops, and they get on the train together, to Mr. Lynch's disappointment.

In Palermo, Italy in 1979, Fabbrizio Disguisey (James Brolin), is the latest in a long line of Italian secret agents known as "Masters of Disguise". The family has been practicing the art for several centuries and have used their skills to protect the world from evil. Fabbrizio barely avoids getting caught while breaking up an ancient artifacts smuggling ring run by the evil Devlin Bowman (Brent Spiner) while disguised as Bo Derek. Bowman goes to jail and Fabbrizio decides it best to keep his family's identity a secret from his infant son, Pistachio (Dana Carvey), as he believes that this life is too dangerous. 23 years later, Fabbrizio runs an Italian restaurant in America with his unnamed wife "mama" (Edie McClurg) and Pistachio working as, respectively, the cook and a waiter. Thanks to his yet-untold family heritage, Pistachio has a tendency to mock people at random, doing perfect but annoying and badly timed impersonations. Pistachio has a natural talent for disguises and constantly practices his covers in front of the mirror, especially with wearing underwear on his head. Pistachio is also looking for a wife, but his nerdy demeanor makes him unlikable to women, as well as a target for bullies, like fellow waiter Rex (Jay Johnston). Pistachio's ex-flame Sophia is now going out with Rex. Pistachio feels that his destiny is far away, but Fabbrizio convinces him that his destiny is in being a waiter in their family restaurant. One night, Devlin Bowman, fresh out of jail, kidnaps Fabbrizio and "Mama", forcing the former to use his Disguisey powers to steal legendary artifacts like the U.S. Constitution and the Liberty Bell. Meanwhile, Pistachio is visited by his unnamed grandfather (Harold Gould), who reveals Pistachio's heritage and begins training him in the ways of becoming a Master of Disguise. Grandfather says that the Disguisey's have used their powers to catch thieves, save environment, and even get George Washington elected President (as he was a boring speaker). Grandfather hands Pistachio a handbook on the art and science of being a Master of Disguise. In the attic Pistachio and Grandfather find Fabbrizio's nest, which had all the hardware needed for any disguise. Grandfather also tells Pistachio about Energico, an energy field, that binds all Disguisey's from the past to the present. He teaches Pistachio to tap into the Energico to get words, skills, ideas that are considered impossible. The mantra is "Become Another Person". Eventually, Pistachio gets the basics of the Disguisey (Grandfather says that Pistachio is level 1 out of 7000) and his grandfather gets him an assistant, the gorgeous Jennifer Baker (Jennifer Esposito), who is a little confused about what the job entails. She takes the job as it pays $417 per week plus dental. With this Grandfather leaves Pistachio and asks him to use his skills to find his parents. Pistachio and Jennifer search the area where Fabbrizio was kidnapped and find one of Bowman's cigars, which is emblazoned with the symbol of the "Turtle Club". Pistachio disguises himself as a man who dresses and acts like a turtle. They manage to learn Bowman's name and scheme, as well as that he'll be at an antiques fair the next day. Jennifer basically does all the work, and Pistachio just stands around looking silly. Jennifer has a boyfriend named Trent, who hates her son Barney, while pretending to love him. Pistachio, on the other hand, cares for Barney and encourages him to follow his dreams. Pistachio and Jennifer go to the fair, the former disguised as an elderly woman named Gammy Num-Nums. They meet Bowman, who invites Jennifer to a party at his house. Pistachio goes to the party disguised as Tony Montana and distracts Bowman while Jennifer looks for clues about Pistachio's parents. Though she gets it, Pistachio causes so much trouble that he's forced to abandon Jennifer when Bowman sends his men after him. Pistachio loses the henchmen by disguising himself as shark-hunter Quint. He uses other disguises, like Bavarian tax agent Constable Mueller and British secret agent Terry Suave, to get Jennifer to safety. That night, Pistachio and Jennifer look through the clues at a local restaurant, and they deduce that Bowman has forced Fabbrizio to go back to his disguising ways to steal the treasures for Bowman. While there, they find Jennifer's boyfriend Trent (Mark Devine) out on a date with Pistachio's old flame, Sophia (Maria Canals). Pistachio then ends up slapping Trent into submission, then leaving with the love-struck Jennifer. Bowman's men kidnap Jennifer as soon as they arrive back at her home. Her son, Barney (Austin Wolff), whom Pistachio has befriended, finds him talking with his grandfather via hologram and a plan is formed. Pistachio, disguised as a cherry pie, breaks into Bowman's house and stops the auction. But even after defeating Bowman's ninja army, Bowman has one final trick up his sleeve. He has attached a mask of his own face to Fabbrizio's head, making him appear to be Bowman. While the real Bowman escapes, Pistachio is forced to fight his father. In the end, Pistachio helps his father snap out of it, they free "Mama", return the artifacts, Pistachio marries Jennifer, and becomes an official Master of Disguise. However, there is one final thing to deal with -- Bowman still has the Constitution. Luckily, the Disguiseys find him in Costa Rica. Disguised as George W. Bush, he, along with Fabbrizio and his grandfather, defeat Bowman once and for all.
