The fifth story is of the stable married couple - Vinay-Seema, whose 15 year marriage is threatened when the husband wants more than just boring, suburban life. The sixth couple's story is of Isha-Sohail as a rural couple unable to give vent to their passion. Swami, Radha and their kid shift to Mumbai after selling off their ancestral home in a village. An extended family is about to give one of their daughter's away, to the world! Asmi Ganatra is asked to produce a TV serial for 786 Plus on a wedding ceremony in a joint family. After approval, the only place she could locate to make this serial is the Joshi family. She meets with them but they turn her down. She then meets with Manoj Joshi, who is infatuated with her, pays him, and arranges for cameras to be placed all over the mansion to record the preparations secretly. Things appear to be going very well until Manoj finds out that his Taoji is still horny; one of his brothers is carrying on with Faujia, the maid; while the to-be bride, Piya, is planning to elope with her boyfriend, Rahul. A hilarious tussle ensues with Manoj attempting to stop the recording, while the TV producer and his staff are determined to complete this shoot at any and all costs. —rAjOo (gunwanti@hotmail.com) A stranger arrives as the house of a family in Mumbai one afternoon and informs them that she wishes to produce their latest family wedding as a television serial. The family initially agrees but then backs out of the deal because they do no wish to have their dirty laundry aired in public. A member of the family then goes behind their back and strikes up a deal to have hidden cameras placed all around the house in order to tape the reality show anyway. In 1984 the former Indian Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi, was assassinated by her Sikh bodyguards, and since then the Sikhs have been a target of violent backlashes by radicals and the Punjab Police. During 1985 Gursharan Singh Soman lived a peaceful life as a farmer in rural Punjab, along with his elderly parents, Gurdev and Tejpal, and an unmarried sister, Guddi. Gursharan meets with and gets engaged to the Station House Officer's only daughter, Jassi Sandhu. Shortly thereafter her father is killed in a drive-by shooting, and a new Officer, Randhawa, takes over from him. Far from being ethical and honest, he is only concerned with fulfilling a quota of deaths of so-called terrorists by fake police encounters. Jassi and Gursharan get married as Jassi has no other relatives. When the police find a duffel bag of automatic weapons in Soman's house, they immediately arrest Gursharan and beat him up severely, even though he claims his innocence, alleging that real terrorists had forced themselves upon the family at gun-point. When a deputation from the town asks Randhawa to set him free, he does so, and the Soman family settle down. Guddi is soon to get married to a young man who loves her. Then in July, 1987, Sikh terrorists gun down a bus full of non-Sikhs, setting off a shock wave in the entire country. Punjab Police are instructed to maintain order, even if it means to do away with law. A large number of Sikhs are hunted down and killed in fake police encounters, scores are arrested and tortured. Gursharan is arrested again and severely beaten up in police custody. When Guddi goes to plead with Randhawa to release him, she too is imprisoned and beaten by a burly policewoman. Gursharan's American-based friend, Darshan Singh Gill, comes to their rescue and arranges for Gursharan to visit the U.S.A. on a travel visa as a hockey player. Once in America, Gursharan applies for political asylum, and is granted one, which also permits him to sponsor Jassi, and his new-born son to America. After Jassi's arrival, Gursharan gets a job in a corner store, while Jassi works as a Gas Attendant. It is then Gursharan gets the news that his father has suffered a heart-attack and may not live long. Gursharan is ready to leave for India to be near his family in this crucial hour, but his leaving America may well revoke his political asylum, and even if he does leave America and arrives in India, there is more than a bullet from the Punjab Police awaiting him. —rAjOo (gunwanti@hotmail.com)

Three men are on death row. Jaggu (Jackie Shroff), a lawyer and a poet, is serving a sentence for murdering his wife because she was cheating on him with another man. Nagya (Nagesh Kukunoor), a man angry with the whole world, is arrested for murdering his wife too, but he claims that it was an accident where she falls off the sidewalk while they were in the middle of a heated argument. Ishaan (Naseeruddin Shah), a happy-go-lucky man, is also arrested for murder that he commits while in the act of robbery. Ishaan was walking away after robbing a bank, when the pregnant cashier presses the panic button. Ishaan turns back, trips and accidentally fires the gun which hits the woman in her belly, killing both her and her unborn child. The prison's custodian is Mohan (Gulshan Grover), who attempts several methods to reform the prison's inmates. Ishaan is a new transfer to his jail, and he has already had 6 transfers and 3 jail escapes previously. Nagya is regularly visited by his mom (Ayesha Jalil). and Jaggu by his sister (Aditya Lakhia), who wants him to appeal his death sentence. A documentary filmmaker, Chandrika (Juhi Chawla) comes to the jail to set a film about these three men, men who have committed a murder and how they or behave until the day they are hanged and what impact a prison system has on them personally. Mohan tells Chandrika that Nagya's murder was a mistake, Ishaan an accident, and Jaggu was planned and Pre-meditated (Jaggu is a lawyer by profession). The 3 men repeat the same. Jaggu thinks he is guilty, Nagya thinks he is innocent, and Ishaan is in between. Jaggu is looking forward to his death, Ishaan is confident that he will find a way out and Nagya believes "Truth will prevail". In the process, she finds redemption to her troubled marriage. He hubby (Shri Vallabh Vyas) is a MCP and gives no value to her wife. Justice Murthy approaches Chandrika in prison and says that he is Nagya's father-in-law. He wants Chandrika to get Nagya to confess to his crime on tape. He wants Nagya to hang for killing Murthy's daughter, but Nagya is fighting an appeal on grounds that police used 3rd degree on him to extract his confession. In exchange Murthy will spare Chandrika the humiliation of a long-drawn court battle and grant her a quick divorce. Gautam is a prisoner and has AIDS. He sexually assaults another prisoner Malli, who is good friends with Ishaan. Ishaan wants to kill Gautam but is stopped by Nagya. Ishaan is worried to know that Gautam has sexually assaulted other prisoners before and infected them. Mohan expresses his helplessness as Gautam's brother is a local politician and a state doctor has certified that Gautam does not have AIDS. Ishaan tells Chandrika how his mother killed his father one night, when he tried to hit her after getting drunk (which used to be usual in his house). She served 3 years in prison before committing suicide. Ishaan has all plans to escape if his appeals in court do not succeed. At home, Chandrika's husband tries to have sex with her after getting drunk and blames her saying she is not attractive enough for him. Jaggu tells Chandrika that his date of hanging is set. He is looking forward to die. He asks Mohan permission to cook a grand meal for the entire prison on republic day. Nagya is hurt to hear that Jaggu will be hanged. Jaggu is angry with Nagya for harboring hope that he will be released someday, and that people will believe in his innocence. Ishaan hits Gautam in his nuts when he is released from solitary. at Home, Chandrika's husband Suri, gets wind of the documentary she is making and insults her by saying that she is sleeping with the prisoners. Chandrika douses Suri with kerosene at night when he is sleeping, and threatens to light him up one night, if he does not grant her a divorce quickly. Next day Chandrika asks Ishaan 3rd time if he feels remorse. Ishaan says he knows he made a mistake but wants to be a free man. Chandrika says she has fallen in love with him and wants to help him escape (she gets him a small O2 cylinder). Meanwhile Mohan's deputy finds through his informer that Ishaan has a plan to escape. A search of Ishaan's belonging reveals that he has a map of the prison. He questions the guard on the cell and finds that Ishaan has bribed him to skip his name during roll call on republic day. The deputy allows the plan to go ahead and waits for Ishaan on the exit point from the prison at the nearby lake. However, Ishaan escapes in the food prepared by Jaggu (using the O2 cylinder for breathing), when it is loaded onto the truck to be taken for consumers outside the prison. He meets Chandrika at her house, at a predetermined date and time. He knows Chandrika that she doesn't love him and asks for the real story. Turns out Chandrika was the sister of the woman Ishaan shot that day at the bank. Chandrika takes Ishaan back to the prison at gunpoint, just in time to stop Jaggu's hanging. Ishaan tells Mohan that he escaped the bank after killing Chandrika's sister. On a road crossing, he pushed Nagya's wife and caused her death. He then went to Jaggu's house as he was man whom his wife was cheating with. Ishaan killed Jaggu's wife by throwing her down the stairs when she refused to run away with him. Jaggu came home and stabbed an already dead woman and blamed himself for her death. Jaggu and Nagya are released. Chandrika gives the money stolen by Ishaan to Mohan so he can continue his prisoner reforms system. Chandrika forgives Ishaan by saying that saving 2 lives was just payment in exchange of her sister and her kids death.

Vijay Kapoor (Amitabh Bachchan) is a successful businessman. He lives happily with his wife Pratima (Raakhee Gulzar) and their four children. Ajay (Akshay Kumar), their only son who was studying abroad and has graduated from university, received an academic degree in Information Technology and came back home now. Daughters are Priti (Juhi Chawla), Priya (Simone Singh) and Rani. Ladoo Mama (Shakti Kapoor) is Pratima's brother and lives with Vijay. Ladoo is dating Sweety Aunty (Kunika). Brij (Anang Desai) is a family friend of Vijay. Jagmohan Thappar (Alok Nath) is a business competitor, but on friendly terms with Vijay. Rajesh Purohit (Mohnish Bahl) enters the family, and deviously impresses Vijay with his efficiency, and his eldest daughter Priti (Juhi Chawla) with his charm, whereas his main goal is to impoverish their family and take over Vijay's fortune. Soon, Vijay approves the marriage of Priti and Rajesh who becomes a son-in-law who stays at home. Meanwhile, Ajay falls in love with Nisha (Karisma Kapoor) and plans to marry her. Nisha is Jagmohan's daughter. At first Ajay finds a 100 flaws in Nisha and tells her that she has no sense of dressing. Nisha converts herself to a traditional Indian girl and meets Ajay. Now AJay is interested in her, but Nisha says now she can get any decent guy she wants and starts dating Suniel Shetty to make Ajay jealous. The whole family goes on a picnic to woo Nisha and it turns out that Suniel is Nisha's brother and was only acting to make Ajay jealous. Vijay convinces Ajay to first gain experience in the family business, even though Ajay wants to start his own business. However, ideological differences result in disputes between the two. Hari Singh (Ashish Vidyarthi) is a factory supervisor & union leader who mistreats his workers & gambles during working hours and Ajay sees this. Ajay confronts Hari, who is rude and dismissive towards Ajay. When Hari hits Rajesh, Ajay retaliates and beats Hari. Hari calls a strike. Vijay tells Ajay that he knows everything about Unions and he still ignores this and uses the union for his own purposes. He wants Ajay to apologize to Hari. Vijay forces Ajay to apologize to Hari. Consequently, Ajay stands firm in his decision to start his own business. He asks his father for economic assistance. When Vijay refuses to do so, Ajay takes a loan. When Vijay discovers this, he is furious and throws Ajay out of the house (Rajesh tries to talk to Ajay into accepting Vijay's money and Ajay tells him to get out of his room. Rajesh decides to leave the house (pretending to be offended of being told to leave the house), but Vijay throws out Ajay instead). Ajay finally marries Nisha and they move into their new house. Jagmohan refuses to support Ajay, but Nisha goes against him & marries Ajay. Rajesh makes Vijay sign a power of attorney, without his knowledge, hidden in a stack of normal papers. This is how Vijay goes bankrupt, and all his fortune goes automatically to Rajesh. The lenders arrive at Vijay's doorstep asking for their money back, else they will liquidate all of Vijay's properties, including his house. Rajesh reveals his true nature and it emerges, he was in cahoots with Hari and the money lenders (he had mortgaged the properties for list price, but pocketed half the amount himself). Rajesh knew that Ajay never asked him to leave the house, only his room, but Rajesh deliberately overplayed the incident to get Vijay to throw Ajay out of the house. Priti overhears all this and is shocked. As Ajay finds out what happened, he gets that Rajesh was the one who had incited arguments between the two. Ajay tries to get close to his father again, which causes a crisis in his relationship with Nisha, who is not pleased with Ajay's reunion with his family. Ajay and Nisha get separated due to consistent arguments between them, and while she finds out that she is pregnant, Ajay has already returned home. His mission now is to return his family fortune and his father's faith, as the latter still cannot forgive him their dispute. Vijay and Ajay eventually become reconciled, although he is yet to return the fortune. They get a stay order on the house auction and buy some time to figure the mess out. Vijay rules out harming Rajesh as that would impact Priti. Rajesh begins to treat Priti badly (after Ajay confronts Rajesh and beats him up), and she also comes back home. Ajay is asked by Vijay to get Nisha back home (she had gone to her father after the tiff). But when Ajay arrives there, Jagmohan asks him to sign divorce papers. Ajay brings Nisha home in exchange (in a deal made with Jagmohan only) for signing the divorce papers and asks her not to reveal the truth to his family. But Nisha is shocked when Ajay actually does sign the papers and hands them to Nisha, who goes back home with her dad. As auction is imminent, the factory workers finally realize that they are going to lose everything. They beat up Hari for conspiring against Vijay and his business. Ajay saves Hari and he is grateful. The workers pool their savings and their houses to gather enough cash to buy the factory and the house at the auctions. Ladoo bids against Rajesh at the auction and the winning bid is Rs 125 Crores. Now Ajay has 2 days to pay the money. Ajay then decides to return his family fortune violently (with the full force of all the factory workers) and forces Rajesh to sign another power of attorney which says that the money comes back to Vijay. Vijay uses the money to pay the auction bill. Priti, in a letter tells Rajesh that she can never forgive him for the atrocities he inflicted on her family and orders him to leave for good. Nisha reunites with Ajay when she learns that the divorce was not mutual and was engineered by her father, and the family finally comes together and lives happily as it used to be before.

In order to make ends meet, three women steps out from their houses for earning. However, this irks their jobless husbands who can go to extreme lengths to stop them. Jhoomri and her husband, Bhimsha, move into a new neighbourhood. Their immediate neighbours are three squabbling couples, namely Vijay and Anjali who are newly married; Appu Khote and Vimla, who are married and have 4 children; and Ravi and Meena, who are also married and have one child. With their wages unable to keep up with inflation and high cost of living, unable to pay even rent to the landlord, B.K. After falling prey to underworld, four friends jeopardize their personal lives with point of no return. Four friends get together to start their career in crime, and extortion. They call themssevles G.A.N.G., which means G=Gangu; A=Abdul; N=Nihal Singh; and G=Gary Rozario. All four come from different cultural and religious backgrounds, but their roots are build on friendship and trust. They do succeed in their criminal goals, but Gangu is arrested and sentenced for five years. Before going to jail, he asks them to promise to go straight, to which they all agree. When Gangu is released, he is pleased to find that Abdul is now driving a taxi, his mother is well looked after, and that Nihal and Gary have also started doing business. After Dharamraj stops them from marrying Renu and Radha, the brothers leave home. They soon discover the real reason Dharamraj hates women. They are actually the real heirs of a wealthy business empire that was run by their father (Vikas Anand) before his death. Their father had remarried after their mother's death and their stepmother (Usha Nadkarni) ill treated them. They also have a stepbrother Robin (Shakti Kapoor). This was the reason why Dharamraj left home and took his two brothers with him. He vowed to never marry as he feared his wife would also ill treat his brothers. Dino and Dinky return home to their brother and he slowly starts to approve of Renu and Radha. Meanwhile their stepmother has left her business in the hands of the corrupt Prajpati (Kiran Kumar) who is also the actual killer of their father. The brothers soon unite with Robin to save their stepmother when Prajpanti plans to steal their wealth and frame them for his crimes. Dharamraj Verma and his two younger brothers, Dinki and Dino, run a garage with the help of a trained monkey and a "Herbie-type" car named dhug dhug. Since Dharamraj dislikes woman, he has not married and will not also permit his brothers to woo any woman, leave alone marry them. But when Dino & Dinki fall in love with Air India Hostesses Renu and Radha respectively, things come to a boil between the brothers and as a result they decide to split. Dinki and Dino board dhug dhug, who takes them to a bungalow. Puzzled they come out of the car and wonder why dhug dhug would stop here of all places. Then a servant named Ramu, who they have seen with Dharamraj on several occasions, tells them why dhug dhug stopped outside this bungalow. It is here all mysteries will be clarified for these two brothers, and it is here they will learn why Dharamraj distrusts women, and why he refuses to marry or permit them to marry any woman. Dhanraj catches up to this boy, and takes the food away from him, and disposes it off. He finds that this small boy has a winning lottery ticket. He rejoices, tells this good news to his family, and adopts the boy, who is now his goodluck charm. Thereafter they live a very comfortable life. Years later, all of Dhanraj's children, Renu, Vishwas, and Kishan have grown up alongwith the boy, Amar, who is now a police inspector. Renu and Vishwas are married, and Amar and Kishan will soon be married too. Kishan gets married to Hira's daughter, and Amar marries a petty thief, Geeta. Things don't go quite well in this household, as money is being embezzled; and then Vishwas' wife blames Amar of sexually molesting her, forcing Amar and Geeta to leave the house. Dhanraj has always considered Amar a goodluck charm for this house, feels vulnerable and open to attacks. And his perceptiveness gives fruit when Vishwas and his wife decide to leave this house and live separately, and it is on the very same day that Dhanraj is arrested for marketing suprious drugs, and the arresting officer is none other than Inspector Amar.

Kishen Malhotra (Rishi Kapoor) is an industrialist who heads the Malhotra empire. His relatives are his mother Sumitra (Sushma Seth), his uncle Shanti (Alok Nath) and his cousin Bhanu (Mohnish Behl). Kishen is lazy and doesn't start work before noon. The business is mainly run by Shanti and his son Bhanu. Sumitra forces Kishen to start attending office and to take an interest in his own business affairs. Kishen hits on his secretaries at work. He has a loyal dog named Sheru. One day Bhanu asks Kishen to sign some checks for him. The next day Sumitra calls Kishen to the board meeting and asks about the Rs 5 Lakhs he withdrew from the bank the day before. Kishen is astounded but Bhanu claims that he gave the money to Kishen. Due to Kishen's flamboyant lifestyle everybody believes Bhanu, till Sheru gets the money bag from Bhanu's home. The bag also has Bhanu's markings. Shanti banishes Bhanu from the house. Kishen realizes that he needs to take more responsibility for the business. To expand his business, Kishen decides to investigate business prospects in a village. Kishen's father had promised a tea factory to the village while he was alive, but after his death the project went on a back-burner. Sheru stays back with Sumitra. Here, he meets a village belle named Radha (Juhi Chawla). Kishen bumps his car into Radha leading to a fight between the 2. Village Sarpanch (Tiku Talsania) is also Radha's father. Radha complains to her father and the entire village beats up Kishen when he arrives in the village. Kishen stays at a guest house managed by Jugnu (Kader Khan), who cannot see at night. Jugnu realizes that Kishen was beaten up by the villagers and tells the Panchayat who Kishen is, the next morning. Radha is asked to apologize to Kishen as all villagers want the factory to be started. Radha also offers to help Kishen heal from his injuries. Besides his work, Kishen also starts teaching English to Radha and some other people of the village. Jugnu gets married to his crush Bijlee (Neelam Mehra). Unknown to Kishen, somebody is stalking him and reading his mail. The factory is inaugurated. The villagers are indebted to Kishen and want to give a gift. Kishen asks for Radha, but Radha says that she does not love Kishen. She says that she only befriended Kishen for the villagers. Kishen wants to know why Radha rejected him. She reveals that she has a friend Banno who went mad after her suitor from the city abandoned her after a romance and a promise to come back. Radha rejects Kishen and he drives away but ends up crashing his car. Radha is distraught and prays for Kishen's recovery. Kishen survives. Kishen and Radha slowly fall in love with each other, and Radha agrees to marry Kishen. Kishen leaves the village (and Radha) and promises her that he will come back. On reaching home, Kishen is surprised to see a mourning at his home. He is even more confused to see people looking astonishingly at him. But he gets a shock of his life when he sees the portrait of his mother, signifying that his mother is dead. The real sucker punch comes when he sees his duplicate mourning next to his mother's portrait. When he says that he is Kishen, his duplicate claims the same. When he prods the duplicate to tell something about real Kishen, the duplicate astonishes him by telling him about his life (Jugnu, Sarpanch and others) as well as about Radha. The duplicate also has the letter that Sumitra had sent to Kishen in the village. Kishen is unable to think as to how the duplicate could know about Radha, but he knows that his pet dog will identify the real master. When the dog, too, goes to the duplicate, Kishen is thrown out of his own home. Meanwhile, Kishen learns about the sudden death of one of his old servants, and he smells foul play. He somehow succeeds to infiltrate into his own office, which is now run by his duplicate, but he gets arrested. Another servant named Daddu tells Kishen about his mother's accident, which probably killed her as her body was not recovered. Kishen also notices that Bhanu is back at home. Daddu is killed when he sees "Kishen" taking to Bhanu and Inspector Dholak and revealing that his real name is Tony. Bhanu and Dholak kill Daddu by drowning him. When Kishen infiltrates his office, the duplicate has him arrested. Kishen learns that the duplicate even terminated the village factory and is preparing to sell of company assets. Meanwhile, Radha comes to meet Kishen in the city after the village factory is closed. But, when she sees "Kishen" partying with some girls, she thinks that Kishen has forgotten her. She turns to go back, but the real Kishen has escaped police custody. He stops her and explains the whole story. He, Radha and Goonga (Shakti Kapoor), a dumb convict who has escaped with Kishen, plan to set things straight. The trio hide themselves in a boat which takes them to Goa. Here, Kishen meets a girl who calls him Tony. Slowly, he comes to realize that his duplicate's name is Tony Braganza. Tony works as a saxophonist in a Goan club called Three Aces and has a girlfriend there. Kishen starts gathering every information about Tony. The trio returns to Mumbai. Radha pretends to be a girl named Rita and gains access to Kishen's home. Kishen has identified the key players by now: Bhanu, Tony and Inspector T.T. Dholak (Kiran Kumar). He creates a rift between the trio. An enraged Tony threatens to expose his partners by what he calls his trump card. The angered partners take him to the real head behind the game, who is revealed to be Kishen's uncle Shanti. Now, Tony shows his trump card - he tells them that Kishen's mother is still alive and his men have kept her in captivity. She knows nothing about Tony or the events happening. Meanwhile, Kishen discovers the depth of the trio's planning. He finds that his dog could not identify him as it was not his dog. Like Kishen, his dog, too, had been replaced. Now, Kishen comes back, impersonating Tony and makes Tony's partners throw Tony out the same way Kishen was thrown. Tony comes to the place where he has hidden Kishen's mother and convinces her that he is Kishen. Kishen arrives there, too. Kishen's mother tricks the duo and finds out who is her son. Just then, all the villains show up at Tony's den. Kishen's uncle goes on to explain that he never liked the way his dead brother left the entire estate to Kishen's mother. He explains that Bhanu was not the only one looting the money. When Bhanu was thrown out, he went to Goa to find him, where he met Tony. As the whole plot is explained, Kishen surprises everyone by saying that he had anticipated this. The money he used to lure out the villains was fake. In another twist, Dholak comes out holding a gun on Radha's head. Even Kishen is surprised when Goonga re-introduces himself as Inspector Bhinde. He explains that he was sent undercover by the commissioner (Jagdish Raj) as even he smelled a rat. In the melee that ensues, the villains are overpowered and arrested. Tony surprises everyone by acknowledging his true identity and saying that there can be only one Kishen. Kishen and Radha are united.

He spends the night at a temple, where he meets a philosophical street side performer Jai (Nana Patekar), who becomes a close friend and gives him a place to stay. With no connections and no experience, he finds it hard to get a job in the city until a beautiful girl Renu (Juhi Chawla), finds him a job as a trainee with the construction company where she works as a secretary to Chabbria (Navin Nischol). They eventually fall in love with each other. As he becomes successful he gets the attention of Chhabria's daughter Sapna (Amrita Singh). They spend more and more time together and he soon gets caught up in the rich and glamorous lifestyle. Sapna has fallen in love with Raju, but when she finds out that he loves Renu, she is heartbroken. In the meantime, Raju's enemies are conspiring against him and they collapse a bridge which was under Raju's supervision. He gets the blame and soon realizes that the glamorous world of the rich is not what he wants. In the end, Raju decides to leave. Most people were asking Jai when Raju would come back. Jai told them when he turns his head around and looks at Renu, he will have no choice but to come back. Just a second earlier, Jai says "Palat" (meaning turn) then Raju turns and looks at Renu. He and Renu finally get reunited again.
