Rajesh Narain lives a poor lifestyle in a small town in British India along with his brother, Brijesh, Bhabi, and a niece, Munni. He attends college and has a sweetheart in wealthy Kamini Sinha, and both hope to get married someday. While Brijesh is actively involved in trying to force their oppressors (the British) to leave India, poetic Rajesh has no interest in politics. Things change when Brijesh gets killed and Rajesh decides to avenge his death by actively becoming involved with freedom fighters so much so that he quickly becomes a thorn on the Britisher's side and orders are issued to apprehend him - dead or alive. He even spurns Kamini, who ends up getting married to a man of her dad's choice. While on the run from the law, assisted by a Pathan truck-driver, Sher Khan, Rajesh finds shelter in the house of his childhood friend, newly-wed Superintendent of Police, Dheeraj Kumar - not knowing that he will soon be confronted by an embittered Kamini, who is the bride of Dheeraj; Sher Khan, who has been arrested and is being tortured may soon reveal Rajesh's hiding place, and from Dheeraj himself when he finds out that his best friend loves his bride. —rAjOo (gunwanti@hotmail.com)

To confound this, Inspector Daljit informs him that a thug named Sunaina, who has been recently apprehended by the police alongwith members of her gang, claims that she is Geeta, Rakesh is astounded at this and goes to meet this woman, who does indeed resemble his wife. Rakesh, however, does not believe that she is his wife, as he himself had cremated her with his own hands. The women asks him to drop at a location and in the dark disappears in the graveyard.Anand tells about this experience to his fiance Seema who refuses to believe, they both are to get married soon but Seema is killed mysteriously and Anand is left depressed after the incident. On another stormy night Anand is called to treat a patient at a dilapidated mansion and he sees that the same white clad women as the patient who has passed away before he reached.The cops patrolling the area see Anand coming out of the mansion and tell him that what he experienced inside is a frequent incident happening at the mansion.Anand's mother decides to get him married and chooses a beautiful Sandhya,On the wedding night Anand realizes that Sandhya is the same white clad women with whom he has twice encountered spooky experience. An embittered music composer, estranged from his family, self-destructs after learning his sweetheart has married another male. Simla-based foreign-returned Rajkumar Mehta lives a wealthy lifestyle along with his father, mother, and sister, Shobha. His father would like him to join the family business, but he is only interested in music, and spending time with his childhood sweetheart, Jalandhar-based Pushpa. Fed-up of taunts, Rajkumar is compelled to leave for Bombay when his enraged father decides to dispose off the piano, and apparently refuses to communicate with anyone for several months. Pushpa's mother asks her brother, Mangal, to check up on him, and the latter finds him living with a prostitute named Titlibai. Refusing to believe her uncle, Pushpa herself travels there and does see the duo together. Convinced that she has lost him for good, she then gets married to Ambala-based Captain Prem Nath - leaving an embittered but now successful music composer, Rajkumar, who claims that he was never involved in any relationship, to take to alcohol, alienate himself from everyone, and heads towards self-destruction. —rAjOo (gunwanti@hotmail.com) From Simla, India; Rajkumar Mehta alias Raju takes an enrollment into a music institute located in London, England. After his graduate in music; two years later Raju returns home in Delhi to re-join his family consisting of his mother, father and a sister, Shobha. Raju's dad would like him to be a part of the family's business but he expresses his dissatisfaction and instead shows an interest towards his music and spending considerable times with his childhood, Jalandhar-based, girlfriend, Pushpa, which brings him into loggerheads with his father on numerous occasions. Situations comes to a boil when Raju's dad discard of his piano forcing him to leave home for Mumbai. Upon his arrival in Mumbai; Raju is robbed of his valuables and as a total stranger he is forced to take up lodging on the footpath until a ray of hope comes along when he finds a singing partner in a prostitute called Titlibai. Now a music director; word reaches Pushpa that Raju is involved with Titlibai. Pushpa; on one occasion even manages to see the two together and convinced of their involvement; Pushpa gets marry to Ambala based, Captain Prem Nath. The story revolves around a CID inspector who is handed over the case of an editor who is killed. During the investigation, he finds a lead towards a suspect. But due to a sudden twist, he falls in the trap of the suspect.

"Awara", a film that introduced Raj Kapoor`s tramp character inspired by Charlie Chaplin, is regarded among the greatest films of all time. The film tells the story of Raj (Raj Kapoor) the estranged son of a wealthy judge Raghunath (Prithviraj Kapoor) who throws his wife out on the streets suspecting her of adultery as a result of which Raj and his mother live in poverty. Raj meets Rita (Nargis) in school and she leaves an impression on him, but they drift apart when Raj is expelled from school. Raj is convinced by Jagga (K.N. Singh), a crime boss, to take up a life of crime to escape his life of poverty. He encounters Rita again who is now a lawyer and a ward of Raghunath. Through dramatic twists and turns, Raghunath discovers that Raj is his son and a contrite Raj goes to jail with Rita promising to wait for him.

The story of Barsaat revolved around two contrasting love storiesone rooted in innocence and the other in heartbreak. Two friends, Pran (Raj Kapoor) and the womanizing Gopal (Prem Nath) romance two local girls Reshma (Nargis) and Neela (Nimmi) while holidaying in the valley of Kashmir. While Pran and Reshma's love is true, Gopal is a womanizer, who disregards the faithful Neela and condemns her to wait faithfully for his return. The music of the film marked the debut of the legendary duo Shankar-Jaikishan and has songs that are hummed even today. The poster of the film that depicted the romantic pose of the heroine gazing up at the hero as she bends backwards on his arm inspired the famous insignia of R.K. Films.

Badshah Babar arrives in India from Iran, drives out Ibrahim Lodhi, makes peace with the Hindus and rules Delhi. He also adopts Rajkumari as his daughter and treats like his very own child, even though he has two sons, Humayun and Kamran, and a daughter, Gulbadan. Babar also finds out that Rajkumari is soon to be married to Randhir, the Rajkumar of Chanderi, who is out to avenge the conquest of his native land, by killing Humayun. Before that could happen Humayun falls seriously ill, Babar prays for his survival, but himself becomes ill and passes away, leaving Humayun to recuperate and be crowned the next Badshah. Humayun meets Hamida Bano and both fall in love with each other so much so that he loses all interest in the running of the state. When Delhi is attacked by Jai Singh, Kamran and Khan Bahadur join in the attack, forcing Hamida to flee. Humayun fends off the attackers, but must re-route his armies when Rajkumari is taken hostage. He does manage to rescue her, make amends with Randhir, but loses Delhi to his opponents, and flees to his native Iran. This is where he will meet and marry Hamida, and both will become parents of Shahenshah of all Shahenshah's, Jalaludin Akbar. But before that Humayun must take back his kingdom, and in order to do this he must first take Kabul, then Lahore, and then Agra and finally, if he manages to survive, Delhi. —rAjOo (gunwanti@hotmail.com) Mughal emperor Humayun (Ashok Kumar). Advocating communal harmony, a policy prompted by contemporary developments, the film stresses the friendship between the victorious Babar (Nawaz) and the defeated Rajputs; he asks the Rajkumari (Veena), daughter of the slain Rajput King, to assume her father's throne and to regard Babar as a father. In the latter part the story, Humayun sacrifices his kingdom to save the Rajkumari. Hamida Bano (Nargis) is a commoner with whom Humayun falls in love, but who turns down his offer of marriage claiming that women, for all kings, are mere playthings. The major highlights of the film are the elaborate Mughal sets and the spectacular battle scenes with elephants and horses. Talip and his sister, Mrinalvati, of a neighboring kingdom imprison Prithvi Vallabh, the kind king of Avantipur. King Munja (Sohrab Modi), ruler of Avantipur; is a famed warrior and patron of arts. Munja falls into the hands of his arch enemy Tailangan king Tailap (Sankatha Prasad), who received assistance from Bhillamraj (K.N.Singh), the king of Dharavati. Tailap orders that Munja be put to death but is held back by Tailap's powerful sister Mrinalvati (Durga Khote), a widow who first wants to break Munja's spirit but falls in love with him. Learning of Munja's plan to escape with Mrinalvati, Tailap has Munja trampled to death by his elephants. Mrinalvati opts to die with Munja. —Vinod Arya
