Meanwhile, ACP Sawant (Mukesh Tiwari) wants to wipe out drug peddling but has to face many obstacles from the corrupt minister (Akhilendra Mishra) and drug mafia Zafar Dongri (Murli Sharma). Due to the injustice faced in his life, Lateef too eventually opts for drugs out of frustration. Whether he is able to come out and battle the addiction is what Lateef is all about.

Bombay City lives in fear of a notorious thief who calls himself Chindi Chor, and steals whenever and whatever he desires without any regard to security, and police protection. When Ghoshal announces the exhibition and subsequent auction of Emperor Babushah's crown, Chindi challenges him that he is going to steal this priceless crown, and Ghosal accepts the challenge, and hires private security guards. Chindi carries out the theft, and two of the security guards, Vikram and Ajay, and an accomplice, John D'Souza, become prime suspects, and are on the run. They must apprehend Chindi and recover the crown to absolve themselves of this crime. While being chased by security guards, the trio crash into a wall, and are transported back to the 10th century, straight into the palace of Emperor Babushah himself. The trio think they are on the sets of a Bollywood movie, and take nothing seriously, until they are imprisoned. It is then the hapless trio realize that they must not only escape, but must also take the crown, back with them to the 21st century to absolve themselves of this crime. He tells his mother and grandfather of his wish and they are abruptly reminded of Rohan's late father, Balraj Khanna (Rajesh Khanna) who left his wife and son for America after a bitter argument with his father. In a bus accident, Balraj is killed leaving Rohan orphaned and his mother widowed. To avoid the same fate of his son, Rohan's grandfather prepares Rohan's visa for America. Rohan arrives in America and immediately meets Sardar Khan (Kader Khan), a Pakistani man who makes a living by driving a taxi. Rohan's good manners and friendly personality wins Sardar over as he drives Rohan to Ranjit's hotel. Rohan does not have any spare cash to pay Sardar so he asks Sardar to stay while he asks Ranjit for the taxi fare. He is shocked when Ranjit does not give him money or a place to stay saying that Rohan has to be able to help himself. Sardar overhears the two arguing. Rohan looks and sees that Ranjit's father and mother are working at the hotel and facing much verbal abuse from Ranjit's wife. This is not the peace that Ranjit had promised his parents. Sardar offers Rohan a place to stay much to the dismay of his roommate, Iqbal Singh (Jaspal Bhatti), a Punjabi man from India. Rohan is allowed to stay with Iqbal and Sardar with the persuasion of Chaurasia (Satish Kaushik. Chaurasia runs an Indian restaurant and betel leaf shop. Rohan is given a job as a taxi driver. One day, while making routes near the airport, he picks up a young Indian woman named Pooja (Aishwarya Rai). Pooja has just arrived in America to live with her older brother and his wife. Much to the shock of Pooja, her brother only brought her here because his boss had seen a picture of Pooja and had fallen in love with her. Pooja's brother insists that Pooja marry his boss and in anger, she leaves his home without money and no where to go. Rohan sees Pooja crying and he offers her a place to stay with Iqbal and Sardar. Iqbal and Sardar discover that Pooja and Rohan have brought happiness into their house and the give them not only a place in their home, but a place in their hearts. Iqbal, Sardar, and Chaurasia pitch in to provide jobs for both newcomers. They are also acquainted with PC Jack Patel (Paresh Rawal) who is a police inspector on weekdays and a Hindu priest on weekends. He observes both jobs faithfully by preserving American law and Hindu values. Both Pooja and Rohan begin to work at a Dunkin' Donuts but after a tussle with some customers who tried to harass Pooja, both are fired and without jobs. This protective relationship between Rohan and Pooja causes Pooja to fall in love with him deeply much to the happiness of Iqbal and Sardar. Rohan finds a job as a gas station employee and Pooja remains unemployed. One day at Chaurasia's restaurant, Rohan becomes frustrated with his lack of progress and Chaurasia advises Rohan to get a Green Card by marrying an NRI girl. Rohan and Pooja go to an Indian dance to search for an NRI girl much to Pooja's disapproval. There, Rohan meets the seductive Loveleen (Suman Ranganathan) and he falls in love with her immediately. Pooja, Iqbal, and Sardar do everything to keep Loveleen away from Rohan until Rohan becomes aggravated and tells the three to stay away from him and Loveleen. Iqbal tells Pooja to follow Rohan and Loveleen to Seaside Heights and declare her love for him. She is rejected by Rohan and he later tells her to stay away from him. Iqbal and Sardar accuse him of being consumed by money. Rohan tells them that they are jealous of his progress. Iqbal tells Rohan that one day he will regret his decision one day and come back to Pooja. Rohan leaves the house for Loveleen in rage. In order to forget Rohan, Pooja finds a job as a caretaker for a rich Indian man who is ill. We discover that this man is Balraj Khanna, Rohan's estranged father who has not died. Balraj has been living in New York with his son, Karan. Karan's mother left Balraj when Karan was very young. Karan has grown to be a spoiled and arrogant young man who is also friends with Loveleen. He consistently asks his father for money to spend for his enjoyment. He even took a loan from Marko, a dangerous drug dealer and Karan has not yet paid him back. In order to pay back his debts, he is assigned to transport drugs around the country. Balraj begins to take a liking to Pooja and considers her as a daughter. He wants to keep her in his home so he asks her to consider marrying Karan. Karan and Pooja are both against the idea. Meanwhile, Rohan is beginning to realize that Loveleen's American culture deeply goes against his and he begins to regret his decision. He becomes fed up with her ways and realizes he is really in love with Pooja. He leaves Loveleen with no where to go because of his poor decisions. Jack Patel forces Iqbal, Sardar, and Rohan to reconcile and they forgive Rohan for his mistakes. Rohan sets out to ask Pooja for forgiveness. She is in Springfield with Balraj at the moment and Rohan arrives there to meet her. After a confrontation between Rohan and Pooja, Rohan tells her that they will go back home to India together, hence Aa Ab Laut Chalen (Come, Let's Go Back). Pooja forgives Rohan and Rohan gives her a locket with a picture of his mother inside saying that it is a promise that he will marry her. Pooja tells Balraj that she has fallen in love with a man named Rohan and he encourages her love for him. Meanwhile, Karan becomes desperate for the money so he decides to marry Pooja. After violently urging her to marry him, her locket falls on the ground and Balraj picks it up. When handing it to her, he sees Rohan's mother, and his wife. He realizes that Rohan is his son but does not tell Pooja. After hearing that he is unemployed, he tells Pooja that he will give Rohan a job in his company. But he fears that his son will not accept him as a father though because he left him and his mother back in India. Rohan accepts the job and is deeply grateful to Balraj. He wishes for a chance to meet him. Balraj continues his generosity from afar by giving Rohan a $5000 bonus. Rohan returns to Ranjit's motel and frees Ranjit's parents by paying for their tickets to return to India. Ranjit is also arrested by Jack Patel for keeping the passports of his parents. Rohan spends the rest of his money by buying gifts for all his friends including Iqbal, Sardar, and Chaurasia. His mother is also happy to know that Rohan has found the love of his life and a decent job. One day, Rohan is invited to a party where that Balraj will attend. When Rohan meets Balraj, he is stunned to realize that Balraj is his father and very much alive. He reacts in anger and tells him that he has left his mother a widow and his son an orphan. Balraj openly confesses to everyone that he has left his wife and son in India and does not deserve everyone's respect. Balraj reveals that after he arrived in America, he went back to India to find his family but he could not. Hence, he married another woman. Rohan sill cannot bring himself to forgive his father because he has caused his mother's suffering. Balraj insists to speak to his wife to ask for forgiveness. Rohan calls his mother to tell her that her husband is still alive. She immediately forgives Balraj and asks them to come back to India. Karan emerges saying that if Balraj leaves for India, he has to leave his fortunes to Karan in America. Balraj refuses and tries to slap Karan but Karan stops him. Karan tries to slap Balraj but Rohan stops him. Rohan and Balraj embrace and Balraj tells Karan he will give all his property to him but he will not be his father. Balraj, Rohan, and Pooja all leave for India. They say their goodbyes to Iqbal and Sardar as well. Suddenly, PC Jack Patel arrives with Karan. Turns out that Karan has turned in important information about Marko to the officials. Karan tells Balraj that he does not want the wealth but he wants to return to India with the rest of his family. Rohan and Balraj accept Karan and the family leaves for India. We later see Rohan's mother welcoming Balraj, Rohan, Pooja, and Karan in their home and they finally live happily together.

Suman and Mahesh have been married for several years but have not been blessed with any children. Suman prays in the temple frequently and hopes that her prayers will be answered. Her prayers are heard and she soon gets pregnant. During her delivery in the hospital, there is a power outage which sets off a fire, which is soon brought under control by the fire department. Two children, both boys, are saved by a nurse, who soon passes away due to extensive burns. One of the boys is of Suman, but no one knows which one, as the second boy's mother had died during delivery. So Suman and Mahesh take both, Suren and Naren, home in the hopes of solving this mystery. Major Bhagawat Singh comes to their home claiming that he is the father of one of the boys, but again no resolution is reached, and both the children grow up under the loving care of Suman, while Mahesh hopes to identify his son during his lifetime. Years pass by, both the boys are now handsome young men. Mahesh's friend, Sudhakar, asks his daughter, Kiran, to assist Mahesh in identifying his son, and she moves into their house. She starts taking notes and studying them in detail. She falls in love with one of them, and is unable to tell who is indeed Mahesh's son. To make matters worse both Suren and Naren are in love with her, and want to marry her, fully aware that she can only marry one. There is only person who knows this secret, and he/she may not come forward to reveal this - for she/he has a reason for this to be kept secret - forever.

Divya admonishes the duo for their silly tricks, and Shyam begs her for a chance to participate in the TIPS music competition. Divya asks Shyam to defeat her champion, but she meant a boxing champ. Shyam takes a hit, before retaliating and defeating Divya's champ in the boxing match. Now Shyam insults Divya by saying that she has made fun of the art of 2 impoverished artists and that does not suit her stature. Divya brings Shyam and Muthu to the TIPS music competition where singer (Shakti Kapoor) is the reigning champ. Shyam defeats the reigning champ and Khurana is impressed with his musical abilities. Shyam is promoted to a high position in TIPs company. Ram Pyare is worried as he was working with Nana (Mukesh Rishi) to sell fake TIPS cassettes in the market, without paying any royalties. As Shyam goes back to repay his debts in the village (with the TIPS prize money), he receives tragic news of the death of his wife Pooja (Karisma Kapoor), who has died in a flood. Pooja had arrived in the village with her father Madhav (Arun Bakshi), who is a music teacher. Thakur's son (Arjun) had his evil eye on Pooja.. Shyam falls in love with Pooja and to get close to her, he joins her father as his music student. Thats how Shyam learned how to sing and play instruments. He starts flirting with Pooja. But one day Pooja overhears Shyam bragging to his friends how he plans to get close to her and kissing her. Pooja is hurt. she slaps Shyam and makes him realize that music is a pure art, which he used for impure purposes. Shyam realizes his mistake and gives himself totally to the study of music. Eventually Pooja is impressed and reciprocates his love. Shyam returns to the village and repays Thakur's debt and then slaps the Thakur twice to make things equal. His friends tells Shyam that Pooja and Madhav both died in a flood. Shyam is distraught and returns to the city. He then marries Khurana's daughter Divya (Tabu). Divya was in love with Shyam, but Shyam is still mourning. when Divya threatens to commit suicide, Shyam agrees to marry her. shyam then finds that Ram Pyare is looting the company with Nana (Maternal Grand father) and his fake cassettes business. He confronts them both, defeats Nana and puts them in jail. When Khurana has a heart attack, Shyamsunder finds his "presumed dead" wife Pooja in the hospital. Shyam cannot tell the 2 wives about each other as Divya is super temperamental and Pooja is very fragile. He then has to fool his two wives, even if it includes leading a double life to make sure Pooja and Divya don't discover he has married both of them. Shyam sends Divya to US to get Khurana operated, and uses the time to settle down with Pooja. Divya returns. Khurana asks Shyam to take Divya on their honeymoon. Shyam books tickets for Bangalore and then returns alone to take Pooja with him. He runs into Ram Pyare in Bangalore (who was exiled from Bombay), who finds Shyam with Pooja. Ram Pyare calls Khurana who refuses to believe that Shyam is cheating on Divya. Shyam stays in the same hotel, sharing one room with Divya and other with Pooja. One day Divya sees Shyam with Pooja in the temple. Muthu tries to convince her that this is a duplicate, and real Shyam is in office. Divya rushes to the office, while Muthu manages to warn Shyam who gets to the office before Divya gets there. Divya is convinced that there is a duplicate of Shyam and convinces Khurana when he finds him buying Indian traditional wear for women for Pooja. Pooja and Divya becomes friends. They both suspect that they share the same man as husband. Shyam's mom arrives from village. The 2 ladies discuss that if Shyam is common, then mom will arrive only in one house and cancel the other. Muthu hears this and informs Shyam, who hires a fake mom (Himani Shivpuri) in front of Divya, as Pooja had met Shyam's real mom. Then Divya invites Pooja and her husband for lunch and wants Shyam to be present. Shyam manages the situation by entering the house as Pooja's husband. He then takes offense at some event, goes out and changes clothes to re-enter as Divya's husband. Meanwhile Nana and Ram Pyare are seeing everything. Ram Pyare again approaches Khurana and tells him that Shyam is married to 2 women. Thakur's son arrives and joins Nana and Ram Pyare in exposing Shyam. They approach the photographer who took 2 photos of Shyam in different poses and merged them to make it look it 2 different men in the same photo. The photographer tells the truth, when beaten and is murdered by Nana. Ram Pyare then tells Khurana that Sunder has murdered his duplicate Shyam (Khurana's son-in-law) and his body (the mutilated body of the photographer) was found on railway tracks. Sunder is arrested. Sunder manages to escapes and asks Muthu to bring both Pooja and Divya to a secluded temple Shyam meets both and admits the truth and explains the circumstances in which this happened. Nana and Thakur's son attack Shyam. Shyam manages to defeat them with some help from Pooja and Divya. They both accept Shyam as their common husband.

One day Bhanu asks Kishen to sign some checks for him. The next day Sumitra calls Kishen to the board meeting and asks about the Rs 5 Lakhs he withdrew from the bank the day before. Kishen is astounded but Bhanu claims that he gave the money to Kishen. Due to Kishen's flamboyant lifestyle everybody believes Bhanu, till Sheru gets the money bag from Bhanu's home. The bag also has Bhanu's markings. Shanti banishes Bhanu from the house. Kishen realizes that he needs to take more responsibility for the business. To expand his business, Kishen decides to investigate business prospects in a village. Kishen's father had promised a tea factory to the village while he was alive, but after his death the project went on a back-burner. Sheru stays back with Sumitra. Here, he meets a village belle named Radha (Juhi Chawla). Kishen bumps his car into Radha leading to a fight between the 2. Village Sarpanch (Tiku Talsania) is also Radha's father. Radha complains to her father and the entire village beats up Kishen when he arrives in the village. Kishen stays at a guest house managed by Jugnu (Kader Khan), who cannot see at night. Jugnu realizes that Kishen was beaten up by the villagers and tells the Panchayat who Kishen is, the next morning. Radha is asked to apologize to Kishen as all villagers want the factory to be started. Radha also offers to help Kishen heal from his injuries. Besides his work, Kishen also starts teaching English to Radha and some other people of the village. Jugnu gets married to his crush Bijlee (Neelam Mehra). Unknown to Kishen, somebody is stalking him and reading his mail. The factory is inaugurated. The villagers are indebted to Kishen and want to give a gift. Kishen asks for Radha, but Radha says that she does not love Kishen. She says that she only befriended Kishen for the villagers. Kishen wants to know why Radha rejected him. She reveals that she has a friend Banno who went mad after her suitor from the city abandoned her after a romance and a promise to come back. Radha rejects Kishen and he drives away but ends up crashing his car. Radha is distraught and prays for Kishen's recovery. Kishen survives. Kishen and Radha slowly fall in love with each other, and Radha agrees to marry Kishen. Kishen leaves the village (and Radha) and promises her that he will come back. On reaching home, Kishen is surprised to see a mourning at his home. He is even more confused to see people looking astonishingly at him. But he gets a shock of his life when he sees the portrait of his mother, signifying that his mother is dead. The real sucker punch comes when he sees his duplicate mourning next to his mother's portrait. When he says that he is Kishen, his duplicate claims the same. When he prods the duplicate to tell something about real Kishen, the duplicate astonishes him by telling him about his life (Jugnu, Sarpanch and others) as well as about Radha. The duplicate also has the letter that Sumitra had sent to Kishen in the village. Kishen is unable to think as to how the duplicate could know about Radha, but he knows that his pet dog will identify the real master. When the dog, too, goes to the duplicate, Kishen is thrown out of his own home. Meanwhile, Kishen learns about the sudden death of one of his old servants, and he smells foul play. He somehow succeeds to infiltrate into his own office, which is now run by his duplicate, but he gets arrested. Another servant named Daddu tells Kishen about his mother's accident, which probably killed her as her body was not recovered. Kishen also notices that Bhanu is back at home. Daddu is killed when he sees "Kishen" taking to Bhanu and Inspector Dholak and revealing that his real name is Tony. Bhanu and Dholak kill Daddu by drowning him. When Kishen infiltrates his office, the duplicate has him arrested. Kishen learns that the duplicate even terminated the village factory and is preparing to sell of company assets. Meanwhile, Radha comes to meet Kishen in the city after the village factory is closed. But, when she sees "Kishen" partying with some girls, she thinks that Kishen has forgotten her. She turns to go back, but the real Kishen has escaped police custody. He stops her and explains the whole story. He, Radha and Goonga (Shakti Kapoor), a dumb convict who has escaped with Kishen, plan to set things straight. The trio hide themselves in a boat which takes them to Goa. Here, Kishen meets a girl who calls him Tony. Slowly, he comes to realize that his duplicate's name is Tony Braganza. Tony works as a saxophonist in a Goan club called Three Aces and has a girlfriend there. Kishen starts gathering every information about Tony. The trio returns to Mumbai. Radha pretends to be a girl named Rita and gains access to Kishen's home. Kishen has identified the key players by now: Bhanu, Tony and Inspector T.T. Dholak (Kiran Kumar). He creates a rift between the trio. An enraged Tony threatens to expose his partners by what he calls his trump card. The angered partners take him to the real head behind the game, who is revealed to be Kishen's uncle Shanti. Now, Tony shows his trump card - he tells them that Kishen's mother is still alive and his men have kept her in captivity. She knows nothing about Tony or the events happening. Meanwhile, Kishen discovers the depth of the trio's planning. He finds that his dog could not identify him as it was not his dog. Like Kishen, his dog, too, had been replaced. Now, Kishen comes back, impersonating Tony and makes Tony's partners throw Tony out the same way Kishen was thrown. Tony comes to the place where he has hidden Kishen's mother and convinces her that he is Kishen. Kishen arrives there, too. Kishen's mother tricks the duo and finds out who is her son. Just then, all the villains show up at Tony's den. Kishen's uncle goes on to explain that he never liked the way his dead brother left the entire estate to Kishen's mother. He explains that Bhanu was not the only one looting the money. When Bhanu was thrown out, he went to Goa to find him, where he met Tony. As the whole plot is explained, Kishen surprises everyone by saying that he had anticipated this. The money he used to lure out the villains was fake. In another twist, Dholak comes out holding a gun on Radha's head. Even Kishen is surprised when Goonga re-introduces himself as Inspector Bhinde. He explains that he was sent undercover by the commissioner (Jagdish Raj) as even he smelled a rat. In the melee that ensues, the villains are overpowered and arrested. Tony surprises everyone by acknowledging his true identity and saying that there can be only one Kishen. Kishen and Radha are united.

Kimtilal, a deeply corrupt person, bribes everyone to get his work done. However, Kamal, his son, grows up to be an honourable police officer and is disappointed to learn about his father's crimes. In modern secular India corruption, nepotism, caste, and favoritism has taken root all the way from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, sparing no one in it's wake. Bombay Municipal Corporation's employee Kimtilal is one such person who had to pay a bribe to a gynecologist so that his wife, Shanti, can give premature birth to their son, Kamal. When Kamal grew up, Kimtilal had to pay another bribe in the form of a donation to a school for admitting him. Then he had to pay another bribe so that his son could successfully pass his college examination, and go on to join the Bombay Police Force. Finally, he withheld an important municipal license for businessman Sampat, in order to get his consent to marry his advocate daughter, Kamini, with his son. Kimtilal's story does not end here for he goes on taking bribes after bribes and it has now become a part of his life. Then a building that was supposed to have been built with only six stories is illegally constructed with ten, collapses leading to hundreds of casualties. When Kamal finds out about his father's involvement he is ashamed, arrests his father, and has him tried in Court. Kimtilal has only the following advise for his son. "When a honest man is tried in Court, he may get the maximum sentence possible, no one will come to his aid, but when a dishonest man is tried, he will have several supporters and never even be found guilty". But Ramu is in for a shock when Indumati disappears during the wedding ceremony, and Ramu undertakes to go and look for her. While digging for a well his father and other men get treasure. His father tells Thakur to give it to the government but Thakur doesn't listen. Gangvaa's father complains in police but Thakur comes out from jail with the help of a lawyer. He asks his Munim to kill Gangvaa's parents. When Gangvaa comes to know about his parents death he takes revenge and kills Thakur Mahendra Singh. Then Gangvaa, his brother Bhima and his friends become dakus.

Janaki (Jaya Prada) brings up her younger sister Lalitha (Sridevi) after their parents die. She sacrifices all to make sure that Lakshmi has the best of everything, including a college education. The sisters love each other immensely. When Ram, a fellow villager returns from the city as a qualified lawyer, both sisters secretly are in love with him. When one of them finds out that the other is in love, she promptly marries the local hooligan Kaamesh Singh because she is already pregnant. Ram marries the other sister. As it turns out, not just her sister, but the entire community is flabbergasted at this shotgun wedding, and Kaamesh is turned out of the village. After committing a murder on the train, he is sentenced to jail. His new bride finds a job and gives birth to her son Gopi. It is when Gopi is a school going boy, a few years later that things come to a head. Ram's wife has been unable to conceive. A comic interlude occurs when a neighbour's wife Sundari gets pregnant. Ram and his wife contract for her to be a surrogate mother and hand over the child to Ram. Sundari agrees to carry the baby to term and hand it over to Ram and his wife. She herself has 6 sons named after each of the days of the week; one more child would be one too many. Kaamesh Singh, on his release from prison, turns his sister-in-law against his wife, by implying that his wife is having an affair with her husband. Ram's wife is so angry about his infidelity and swears vengeance against her sister. This sets the stage for the killing of Kaamesh Singh. How will this love triangle be resolved?

Suraj lives in a small rural town in India with his widowed father, Yashpal, and a widowed sister, Sita. Suraj attends college, becomes a graduate and returns home to find that their family home is about to be auctioned at the behest of the cruel and influential Zamindar Bansilal, who refuses to allow them anymore time to re-pay his outstanding loan. The auction takes place, but is not enough to pay the loan, but Suraj assures them that he will do so when he gets a job in Bombay. Shortly thereafter, Yashpal kills himself; Sita is brutally raped and killed, and an enraged Suraj tries to kill Bansilal, Sharma, and Raghu, he does manage to kill Raghu and Sharma, but Bansilal escapes, and notifies the police, who locate, arrest Suraj, and have him sentenced to a long jail term. But Suraj escapes from prison and goes on the hunt for Bansilal. Savitri toils hard to provide education for Ravi, and for this she scarifies everything she has owned, and sends Ravi to her brother`s place. Years later, Ravi is now an Engineer and returns home to Shaktinagar, is appalled to learn of his mom`s and sister`s destitute condition and vows to avenge this ...

But Amit goes to court and produces witnesses against Vikram, whose drugs business has destroyed countless innocent lives. After release from prison, Vikram kills Rajan and frames his former lawyer Amit (Amitabh Bachchan) for the murder. Vikram asks Amit for help in settling his dispute with Rajan. when Amit gets to Rajan, they have a scuffle and Vikram takes advantage of the confusion and shoots Rajan. Amit is forced to go on the run with wife Janki. At the train station, Amit is forced to hide from the police while the train leaves with Janki inside. The train later derails and Amit thinks Janki is dead. Meanwhile his pregnant wife Janki (Waheeda Rehman) (who had survived the train crash) gives birth to twin sons Guru and Shankar (Both played by Amitabh Bachchan). Unfortunately, she becomes separated from one of her sons Guru when her son is stolen by a barren couple. With her husband on the run and one son missing, Janki is forced to raise Shankar on her own. Amit thinks his wife Janki is dead, so he tries to lead a normal life using the name Rana Ranveer and is living with his adopted daughter Manju (Parveen Babi). Many yrs ago, Amit had saved Manju from some kidnappers who had shot her father and since then they are together. But Janki is living in another city with Shankar who has become a police inspector. Shankar is also after the drug trade and is tracking smuggler Prem (Shakti Kapoor) who happens to be Vikram's son. Prem was using Manju as a courier and stops her after she had exited the airport with the drugs in her purse. But Shankar intervenes and beats Prem in hand-to-hand combat. Shankar arrests Manju as a drug smuggler. Janki arrives at the police station and bails out Manju, saying that she knows Manju is the daughter of rich and famous Rana Ranveer Singh, based in Nepal. Manju had come to Delhi to meet Janki, as Janki is a sculptor and Manju wants a bust of her late father. Manju starts dating Shankar. Guru had been brought up by a barren couple father (Mukri) and mother (Urmila Bhatt) and grows up to be a theatre actor. His foster parents want Guru to wed Rita (Zeenat Aman), who is the granddaughter of Rai Sahib (Ashok Kumar). Rita doesn't want to get married, but Rai Sahib is adamant that he will donate the entire wealth to orphanages, if Rita refuses to see prospective candidates. Rita agrees, but then proceeds to insult all grooms, including Guru. Rai Sahib is super upset. His doctor advises Rita to pretend that she has married for the sake of her grandfather. Rita finds that Guru is an actor and hires him. Rai sahib likes Guru's style and how he treats the entire world as his theatre. when Guru tries to get close to Rita, she kicks him out. Guru and Rai Sahib team up to make Rita realize that she really loves Guru and wants to marry him. Meanwhile Vikram now partners with Simon Sardar (Kader Khan). A famous necklace goes to auction and Ranveer Singh wants to buy it, as he remembers Janki wanted that necklace. But Vikram has his eyes on it and asks Simon to steal it. But to evade the police, Simon puts the necklace into a hollow statue of an art gallery. The next morning Manju buys the statue for Ranveer and gives it to Shankar, who is heading to Nepal to investigate the theft. At the airport, Shankar runs into Ranveer, and their packages get exchanged. Vikram abducts Shankar from the Kathmandu airport and finds that Shankar looks like Amit. But he can't find the statue or the necklace. Shankar manages to escape in a car, but Vikram chases him in a helicopter and Shankar's car falls off a cliff. Vikram finds Janki's photo in Shankar's luggage and realizes that Shankar is Amit's son. But Shankar survived. After checking at the airport, Simon and Vikram realize that Ranveer and Shankar's parcels got exchanged at the airport. Simon tries to infiltrate Ranveer's house and steal the necklace from the statue but is stung by a cobra. Next, Vikram sends Prem as Shankar to meet Ranveer (Vikram had found Manju's letter in which she said Shankar was going to meet Ranveer). Ranveer sees Janki's photo in Prem (As Shankar's) luggage and believes Prem is his son. Shankar reaches Ranveer and says he is investigating the theft of the necklace. He is astonished to see the statue in Ranveer's house. The discussion is sidelined when Shankar alleges that Ranveer is actually Amit who fled India 25 years ago after committing a murder. Ranveer asks Shankar to leave. Ranveer and Janki have a phone call and Janki also finds that Amit is alive and well in Nepal. Manju reaches home (to celebrate Shankar's Birthday) and finds that it is Prem, staying in her house posing as Shankar. Vikram arrives and abducts Amit, Manju and Janki (when she arrives in Nepal). Janki manages to escape and hides in a marriage function. The wedding is of Guru and Janki thinks it is Shankar. Guru's foster parents declare Janki as mad, but Rai Sahib's doctor is there, who was also Janki's doctor at her delivery. She confirms that Janki had twins and she gave one of the twins to Guru's foster dad as his foster mom had again given birth to a stillborn child. Guru goes to meet Ranveer/Amit and Shankar. But at the Haveli, he finds the cobra, who gives the necklace to Guru. Inside the Haveli, Guru and Shankar meet (Shankar had come to meet Manju and Janki). Guru tells the entire story to Shankar. Meanwhile Vikram's goons abduct Janki and Rita from the wedding. Shankar goes to Vikram and asks him to let Amit and Janki go to the Haveli and get the necklace. Vikram sees Prem with them. At the Haveli, Guru is dressed as Amit and goes back with Prem, leaving the real Amit and Janki safely behind. Vikram finds that the necklace is a fake and has already abducted Janki and Amit from the Haveli. Climax ensues. Nepal police arrives and arrests Vikram and his goons. Shankar keeps a drug injection away from Vikram and forces him to admit the truth that Vikram killed Rajan, and not Amit. The movie celebrated golden jubilee (3 shows) in South India and in rest of the India it celebrated silver jubilee (3 shows). When premiered in Sony TV in the year 2009, it earned highest TRP.

However, when Hari has to leave home for two months to complete his law degree, his newly married wife Seema (Tanuja), jealous of her husband's excessive affection for the two, ill-treats them, forcing them to leave home and escape to Bombay. Hari returns back after 2 months and realizes that Seema drove his step brothers away from the house. He is very angry. After days spent doing menial labor. They are then picked up by a stranger, who puts them to work as beggars. They manage to escape after a few days. The two brothers are finally given a home by the widower Rahim Chacha (A. K. Hangal), who has a son Anwar (Ali Masood) and daughter Farida (Madhu Malini). Govind takes on the responsibility of providing for his brother's education by becoming the taxi-driver Chhotu Ustad. Govind earns all day and then massages Rajesh's legs at night.. The years pass and Rajesh's legs are all better now. Jagan (Mehmood) is Govind's friend, who sells bananas on marine drive. Govind's car has a unique quality that it can sense if passengers are carrying any illegal stuff or not. One day Govind picks up Mary (Parveen Babi) who is heavy pregnant and offers to drop her to Parel. But the car wont start. Later Govind finds that Mary (who had recently moved across the street from Govind) uses her pregnant belly to transport illegal country made liquor across town. Mary is angry that Govind destroyed her stills. She hires Peter and his goons to abduct and trash Govind. But Peter tries to force himself upon Mary and only timely intervention from Govind saves her. Mary apologizes to Govind. Govind and Mary start dating. Rajesh, however, is ambitious and foppish (he tells his friends that his brother is an international business). Manju (Bindiya Goswami) is Rajesh's fellow student and is tired of his boasts. To embarrass Rajesh she invites Govind to the college's annual fest where Rajesh is performing in a play. Rajesh gets really nervous when he sees Govind in the audience and fluffs his lines. The audience turns on Rajesh and Govind starts a fight with the entire auditorium. Govind continues to help the police by chasing and catching criminals involved in transporting drugs and other contraband across Bombay. In one of the chases Govind sees Anwar in the smuggler's car. Anwar convinces Govind that he only works for a transport company and that Govind has a case of mistaken identity. Manju and Rajesh start dating. Rajesh is good at cards and is introduced to gambling by his room mate. Rajesh wants to get rich quick and doesn't want to work hard for money. Govind runs into Hari at his office and instantly recognizes him. He goes to Hari's house and meets Seema. But Seema is rude and tells Govind that Hari is a famous lawyer now and he is only a taxi driver. She throws Govind out and warns him never to try and contact Hari again. Verma's brother Bansi (Prem Chopra), who has actually been instrumental in fixing up this marriage (Bansi had seen Rajesh playing cards at his club and casino) (Bansi asks the casino manager, who is close to Seth, to propose the match. Seth hates Bansi as he is opposed to Bansi's illegal activities). Seth likes Rajesh, but wants Rajesh to live with them after the marriage. Govind is not agreeable, but Rajesh spurns his brother and the latter's pride by marrying the rich Seth Verma's (Pinchoo Kapoor) daughter Manju (Bindiya Goswami) and staying at his father-in-law's mansion. To pay for the wedding, Govind had mortgaged his taxi and eventually loses it. Rahim uses his EPF retirement money to get the cab back. Bansi employs the unsuspecting Rajesh to carry on a drug-smuggling trade using the vehicles of the Verma Transport Company, owned by the Seth. Meanwhile Rajesh's univ results are declared and Govind finds that Rajesh has failed. Govind confronts Rajesh, who ends up insulting Govind saying that he has no ambition. One of the smuggling operations is foiled by the police (The truck topples in a chase), and Anwar, also mixed up in his business, is left seriously injured. Bansi's men attempt to kidnap Anwar to destroy evidence when Govind is not at home. In the skirmish that ensues, Rahim is shot fatally. In the aftermath of the tragedy and Rajesh's realization of how he has been used by Bansi, Rajesh seeks his brother's mercy. However, at this very moment, Bansi murders Seth Verma and tries to frame Rajesh for it. However, it is Govind who is found at the scene of the crime (he was called there by Bansi's casino manager, who was mimicking Seth Verma on the phone) and accused of murder. The judge at his trial is Hari, who is now one of the leading legal eagles in the city. In the course of the trial, the real identity of the accused and his brother are revealed to Hari. Hari adjourns the court and meets Govind in the locker that night. Hari knows that Govind is innocent and decides to fight the case. Hari now steps down as judge and becomes Govind's defense attorney. Through a series of astute investigations, he unearths the truth. Hari is able to prove that Bansi was the murderer as his watch was photographed near the dead body, before Bansi came back 30 mins after the murder and took the watch back. The police had not informed anyone about the murder for 4 hrs, so it is not possible that Bansi knew from anyone else that Seth Verma had been dead. Bansi, cornered, attempts to shoot Hari and escapes the courtroom, but is finally tracked down by Govind in his beloved taxi 'Basanti'. As the smuggler is arrested, the three brothers are reconciled.

Thereafter he is assigned by CBI Officer Sangram Singh to a secret mission to locate and apprehend smugglers, thieves, and women abductors, which can only be done after he dons the guise of jailed gangster Kanwar Lal, his look-alike. Kishan (Amitabh Bachchan) and Bishan (Amjad Khan) are childhood friends. Kishan is an orphan, but is self-sufficient and hard-working, while Bishan comes from an affluent background. The friendship between the two is extremely strong and is the bane of Bishan's uncle Chacha (Jeevan), who has his eyes on his widowed sister's wealth. It was Bishan's father who had sent his uncle to jail, but before he was released, Bishan's father passed away. Bishan's uncle then approached Bishan's mother and pretends to repent at his actions, and she relents to give him a place in the house. Kishan had objected to this. He had a strong voice and said that Bishan's father last wish was not to let Bishan's uncle back into the house at any cost. Kishan is an orphan himself and grows his own grain on a piece of land. Before dying Bishan's father gave Bishan's responsibility to Kishan. Bishan's uncle thinks the friendship between Bishan and Kishan can come in the way of him having complete sway over his sister's financial affairs. In a bid to separate the two friends, the uncle manipulates his sister into sending Bishan away to the city and then abroad for further education. Kishan was offered by Bishan's mom, but he won't go on someone else's money. He says he still have his father's debt to repay. When the two friends reunite years later, Bishan discovers that Kishan has a great voice. Bishan is now a successful businessman, and he wants to promote Kishan's singing talent. Unknown to Kishan, Bishan had also married in London and had a kid. But Bishan wanted to break this news to him later, as Kishan was bound to be upset that he was not at Bishan's wedding. Kishan goes to the city with his friend (Bishan makes him promise on his birthday). In Bombay, Kishan again meets Bishan's uncle and his mother. He also finds that Bishan has been married to Sheela and also has a child. Sheela explains to Kishan that her father had cancer and would have not survived long, and this is why the wedding had to be performed in haste and without Kishan's presence as getting Kishan to London would have taken so long. Bishan asks Komal (Neetu Singh) who is the daughter of the music academy owner, to groom Kishan to be a performer and a gentleman. Kishan doesn't know that Bishan has paid the music academy Rs 50,000 for Kishan training and grooming. Johnny (Kader Khan) is Bishan's driver. Bishan is the owner of a shipping company and even has his own merchant ship. In the meantime, Bishan discovers that the family wealth has been systematically looted over the last 18 years by the uncle and his son Jagdish. He is forced to borrow by mortgaging his remaining assets in order to ensure that Kishan becomes a successful singer. The Rs 50K check that Bishan had given to the music academy, has bounced. So, Bishan borrows against his house & ship to continue Kishan's training and to pay for the huge stadium where Kishan's first concert will be held. Kishan tries to get expelled from the process by being uncooperative and disruptive. The academy finally has enough and calls Bishan to take Kishan away. Bishan takes Kishan to the stadium that he has booked for his first concert to show him how much he believes in his friend. Kishan now understands the gravity of the situation and vows to work hard to become capable of achieving his friend's dream. Bishan's actions cause a major rift between Bishan and his wife Sheela (Tanuja), who is convinced that Kishan will turn his back on his friend if he were to ever succeed. Due to his theatrics Kishan is about to kicked off the academy but changes his tune when he finds that Bishan has planned a huge launch for him and staked everything on his future. Komal trains him personally. On the night of the debut concert Sheela leaves Bishan and takes away their son. Kishan gets cold feet and can't sing without Bishan on his debut night. Komal tells him she loves him, and Kishan gets his confidence back. Kishan's debut concert is a huge success, and he goes on to donate the proceeds of his earnings and consequent record deals in order to rid his friend Bishan of his many mortgages and in order to help woo his estranged sister-in-law and lovable nephew (Bishan's 10-year-old son) back into the house. Kishan proceeds to become a star and Komal - his trainer professes her love for him. Bishan in the meanwhile falls into a conspiracy further set by his treacherous uncle (Jeevan) and Cousin Jagdish (Ranjeet). He is kidnapped alongside several hostages - primarily children on his shipping vessel, brainwashed, tortured and forced to sign a confession that all the misdeeds have been done by him. Bishan had filed a police complain against his uncle and Jagdish, and as such they were branded as criminals. So, now they wanted to prove that Bishan hijacked his own ship so as to repay his creditors. This was Bishan will be dis-credited, and his uncle and Jagdish would be considered his victims and not oppressors. Bishan loses his mental stability when Jagdish threatens hang little kids unless Bishan signs the confession and goes into shock. Johnny escapes from the Island where the hostages have been kept. Johnny tries to contact Kishan, who tracks Johnny, but Johnny dies in a car accident. Meanwhile Bishan also escapes from the Island. The kids are still kept hostage by Bishan's uncle and Jagdish Bishan is then thrown into an asylum after he has a breakdown and experiences amnesia. Kishan pretends to be mentally ill and admits himself into the asylum by tricking the authorities and saves his friend by reviving his memory successfully by feeding him Rotis as he used to when they were children. Jagdish and uncle ask parents to give ransom money for release of the kids, but they intend to blow up the kids with explosives after the money exchanges hands. Kishan attacks from the front, and Bishan enters the caves from behind to rescue the kids. The movie ends with the children - hostages being saved, the family uniting and the treacherous mastermind Jagdish (Ranjeet) being sent to jail.

Vijay (Amitabh Bachchan) and Sunil (Shashi Kapoor) are burglars who are assigned to kidnap the son of Seth Mathur (Shreeram Lagoo), Bittoo. They get enrolled in the school to get close to the kid. There Vijay meets Anju (Parveen Babi) and Sunil meets Shalu (Hema Malini). Unaware of their background, the girls fall in love. However as time comes close, the boys realise they cannot kidnap Bittoo due to their affection towards him. Sunil`s boss Uncle Jagdish (Kader Khan) loses hope on him and he himself comes up with a plan and abducts the boy. Whether or not the two are able to protect their friend from their uncle, forms the rest of the story.

Separated at birth, Durya's twins are brought up at different places. While Durya raises one son to become a police officer, the other son is raised to become a gangster. A conflict arises when they reunite.

Sir John Locksley, the greatest jewel thief, decides his most prized possession, the Shalimar Ruby, should be passed on to a worthy successor. He invites the best rival jewel thieves to his island estate to participate in a deadly contest. On the run from the police, S.S. Kumar (Dharmendra), a thief, comes across a private invitation to the island of Sir John Locksley (Sir Rex Harrison) addressed to Raja Bahadur Singh (Prem Nath). When the Raja is shot, Kumar takes him to a nearby hospital, dons a Sikh's turban, poses as the Raja's son and goes to the private island of John. Also attending are K.P.W. Iyengar (O.P. Ralhan), Dr. Bukhari (Shammi Kapoor), Colonel Columbus (John Saxon), and Countess Rasmussen (Sylvia Miles). A stunned Kumar finds out that all of these invitees are master criminals and gangsters. Kumar's guise does not fool anyone, including his former sweetheart, Sheila Enders (Zeenat Aman), nevertheless John permits him to stay on, as he feels that Kumar's career, though an amateur, is consistent with those already present. The reason why John has invited them is to find a successor to take his place as he is dying of cancer. He feels that one of his invitees can be trusted to take his place and for this he has arranged for them to steal a diamond (shalimar) worth one hundred thirty-five crores of rupees. This gem is placed in a secure place within his palace, which is alarmed, and guarded by armed men twenty-four hours a day. He challenges one of them to steal the shalimar, but if anyone fails then he or she is killed instantly. Kishan secretly helps his dad and uncle without anyone's knowledge. Then one day, Amit finds out about Kishan criminal activity, and tells his father about it, but both are unable to prove anything. Then their lives are turned upside down when Amit loses his vision saving Kishan from a time-bomb.
