Read more →Siddhant Rai (Rishi Kapoor) is a rich widower who lives with his three mischievous children. Siddhant had a younger brother named Rajit, who had a fallout years ago & left Siddhant. Nobody, not even Siddhant's children & his dead wife's crafty relatives know what Rajit looked like. Kids include Rohit (Harsh Lunia), Rahul (Kinshuk Vaidya) & Rani (Sakshi Sem). Kids are supported by house servant Banke Bihari Chaturvedi or BBC (Tiku Talsania). The crafty relatives include Vikram Sinha (Govind Namdeo) & Prabhakar Sinha (Pramod Moutho). Vikram's son is Ranjit Kumar (Mayur Verma). Vikram and Prabhakar are angry with Siddhant as he is using company money to fix a dam built by his firm but now handed over to the Government. Siddhant says that the dam endangers several hundred villages and fixing it is a civic duty. Vikram disagrees and says now the dam is the responsibility of the Government. Siddhant orders the repair of the dam, but Vikram secretly stops the work. Vikram and Prabhakar are 30% owners of the company. They were ones who also used sub-par cement on the dam. Eventually the dam breaks and Siddhant is livid that his orders were not carried out. He orders his own inquiry into the dam failure. The kids don't allow any teacher to stay by playing dangerous pranks on them. Siddhant wants to send the kids to a boarding school, but BBC stops Siddhant as this is what happened with Rajit as well. A young girl who works in an orphanage named Anna (Kajol) applies for the job of nanny for the children. The kids try to get her to leave the job, by playing pranks on her. They try to scare her with the haunted house bit, but Anna scares them right back. Things get too far when they send her a fake telegram telling of her parents' death. She is hurt by this prank but relents when the kids are really ashamed. Meanwhile a bank thief and conman named Shekhar (Ajay Devgan) and his friend Jaddu (Johnny Lever) are on run. They see Anna & mistake her to be a relative of Siddhant. He sees Anna come out a Mercedes and figures that she comes from a rich family. They are stuck in a traffic jam together and Shekhar tries to woo her. Jaddu tells Anna a sob story that she look exactly like Shekhar dead lover. Shekhar pursues Anna with this story and Jaddu pleads insanity on his behalf. Through Anna, Shekhar meets the kids as well. Shekhar aims to con the children with his charm, hoping to marry Anna & become rich. Anna falls in love with Shekhar. Siddhant, who thinks that Shekhar is a decent boy, permits the marriage. Just when Shekhar really falls in love with Anna, Siddhant exposes Shekhar on the wedding day. A shattered Anna leaves the household. Siddhant sends Shekhar to jail. Vikram and Prabhakar who are responsible for the failure of the dam, decide to kill Siddhant & his children in an accident. Siddhant's engineer Murthi (Adi Irani) has prepared a report and has named Vikram and Prabhakar responsible for the accident. Murthi is shot by Vikram, but he manages to fax the report to Siddhant. Siddhant dies, but the children are saved. Their custody goes to Siddhant's relatives. Since Rajit has not tried to contact Siddhant for 14 years, he is considered dead. Vikram and Prabhakar make the children's lives miserable. Shekhar learns of Siddhant's death & children's plight via Jaddu. He decides to do a good turn & re-enters the home posing as Siddhant's long lost brother Rajit Rai. BBC collaborates with Jaddu to bring Shekhar into the house, as he could see that Vikram and Prabhakar would eventually kill the kids. BBC shares all the inside information to prove that Shekhar is Rajit. Anna too has returned after learning about Siddhant's death. She, along with the children, have an uneasy truce with Shekhar as he is their only hope now. Shekhar even saves Anna from Ranjit's evil eye. The villains try to discredit Shekhar, but the whole game turns Topsy Turvy when real Rajit Rai shows up. Seeing their last chance to usurp Siddhant's money vanish, the villains now side with Shekhar, prove him to be the real Rajit Rai aka Raju Chacha. The deal is simple: Shekhar will be their partner & get a 25% share in the estate. Anna witnesses this deal and again believes that Shekhar has betrayed her trust. However, Shekhar stuns the villains after being proved as Rajit Rai by letting them know that the "real" Rajit Rai is only his fellow conman Gafoor (Sanjay Dutt). Anna's trust in Shekhar is back as she sees that Shekhar only wanted to protect the kids and did not desire any money or wealth. Shekhar helps the kids get their rightful legacy back. Anna reconciles after seeing the change in Shekhar, but the joy is short lived when the villains succeed in sending Shekhar back to jail. Meanwhile, the truth of Siddhant's death is revealed to the children. The kids record Vikram's conversation on tape where he talks about how he got Siddhant killed. Shekhar escapes again & kills the villains' same way they killed Siddhant. The end credits come up as the kids sing in the hope that their real Raju Chacha one day might come back...

Even Sahil's mother Sharda (Priya Tendulkar) cannot persuade her son to get close to Jaisingh. Sahil enrolls into college and reunites with his childhood sweetheart/friend, Isha Diwan (Kajol). The two drifted apart when Isha was sent to boarding school years ago. Isha's father Ishwar (Paresh Rawal) is the secretary of Jaisingh. Sahil also meets Sheetal Chaudhary (Manisha Koirala) whose father Megnath (Dalip Tahil) is a good friend of Jaisingh. Sahil and Isha fall in love while Sheetal falls for Sahil, believing he is also in love with her. Jaisingh and Megnath learn that Sheetal loves Sahil, so they decide to announce their engagement at Sahil's birthday party. However, this does not go down well with Sahil because he does not love Sheetal and intended to announce his engagement to Isha. Jaisingh and Sahil get into an argument and in a fit of rage, Sahil holds a knife up to his father, being stopped by his mother. Sahil gets heavily drunk at Dr. Gandhi's (Kulbhushan Kharbanda) house, Sinha's family doctor. Gandhi advises Sahil to reconsider, saying that Sahil will lead a happier life with Sheetal. When Sahil gets home, he is shocked to discover that his father has been stabbed to death with the same knife Sahil had threatened him with. Before Sinha can reveal the name of his attacker, he dies. Sharda finds Sahil holding a knife and assumes him to be the killer. Although he did not see the killer enter or leave, Sahil has one clue - a locket which may belong to the killer. The next day, he is taken to court, where his mother, Sheetal's father, Isha's father and all those who were present at his party testify against him and say that he must have been responsible for his father's death. Sahil is sentenced to 14 years in prison. Before he goes to jail, he is able to hand the locket over to Sheetal. Sheetal visits Sahil in jail and agrees to help him break out. In jail, Sahil relates his story to an old prisoner. The prisoner tells Sahil about an escape route. Sahil breaks out of prison with Sheetal's help. Once Sahil is out, he is reunited with Isha. Both Isha and Sheetal decide to help Sahil prove his innocence by solving the mystery of who killed his father. However, the authorities are on Sahil's track - no-nonsense Inspector Udham Singh (Om Puri) and his team is determined to capture Sahil. Sahil decides to visit Dr. Gandhi, believing he will have a clue. Sahil secretly meets Isha at her home, where he calls Dr Gandhi for advice, and Dr Gandhi invites Sahil to his home. However, he finds that Dr. Gandhi has also been stabbed - this makes the investigation more complicated. Dr Gandhi's servant reports Sahil to the police. Sahil and Isha are soon found by Inspector Singh but narrowly escape. Sahil returns to the city and confronts those who testified against him in court, believing that they all had some motive for killing Jaisingh. Now accused of two murders, Sahil suspects advocate Thanawala (Raza Murad). He enters Thanawala's office and brutally interrogates him, throwing him out from the window of his office. Sahil similarly interrogates Choudhary and Vilas Rao but it leads to nothing. Sahil, Sheetal and Isha trick Mantriji into attending a ceremony and abduct him. When Inspector Singh realizes what Sahil is actually doing, he believes that Sahil is innocent. The murders were committed by two identical knives. Singh finds the same set of knives at Ishwar Dewan's house with two knives missing and arrests Dewan, who confesses. Isha's father confesses to killing Jaisingh because he was angry that Jaisingh would not let Isha marry Sahil: Ishwar is put in prison. Sheetal tells Sahil that the murderer is Ishwar Dewan, and Sahil releases Mantriji. Isha, however, is shocked and tries to attack Sheetal, and later rushes to meet her father. Sahil, now free, returns home and reconciles with his mother and half-brother, Harsh (Master Harsh Lunia). Sahil gives the necklace to Harsh. Harsh opens the necklace and shows it to Sahil, who finds his and Isha's pictures inside. Sahil realizes Isha is the killer. In the meantime, Isha enters Uddham Singh's house and stabs him multiple times. Sahil interrogates Ishwar Dewan, who admits that Isha is the killer. He reveals that while Isha loves him immensely, she has had a massive anger management problem since her childhood, particularly when it comes to Sahil. As a child, she had killed Dr. Gandhi's dog after it bit Sahil, following which she was sent to a boarding school by Sinha and Dr. Gandhi to keep her away from Sahil. After Sahil's argument with his father, Dewan and Isha had gone to meet Sinha the following morning, to request him to unite Sahil and Isha, whereupon the latter rejected and humiliated them in a fit of anger and asked them to leave. Isha was so enraged that she later stabbed Sinha to death. When Dr. Gandhi realized that she was the murderer, she killed him as well. Sahil is shocked beyond words but understands that Isha will try to attack Sheetal next and calls her. He rushes to her house but is attacked by Babu Anna, an assassin hired earlier by Mantriji to kill Sahil and Isha. Sahil is injured but manages to incapacitate Babu Anna and reach the house. Sheetal is fooled by Isha at first, because the latter falsely apologizes for her misbehavior. However, Isha suddenly attacks Sheetal. Sahil arrives on time to save her and pulls Isha off Sheetal, who rushes into Sahil's arms. An enraged Isha tries to stab Sheetal, but Babu Anna tries to intervene and is killed instead. An injured Uddham Singh arrives and fatally shoots Isha. In her final moments, Isha begs Sahil for forgiveness. During the end credits, Sahil is joined by Sheetal in the club that he was seen in at the beginning of the movie.

Shortly thereafter Vasudev and Suman leave the household and re-locate to the U.S. Several years later, Sitaram receives a letter informing him that Vasudev and his family will be coming to visit them in India. Sitaram looks forward to seeing his son and his family after all these years. He is enraged when he finds that the only one sent to visit him is Sita, his granddaughter, and the excuse for Vasudev and Suman not attending is that "they are busy". Old wounds surface, and Sitaram will have nothing to do with his granddaughter, who has brought a special gift for her granddad, from her dad. But Sitaram will not accept this gift, until and unless his son himself comes to deliver it to him, and it is then he comes to know the truth behind his son's absence. —rAjOo (gunwanti@hotmail.com)
