A Hindi adaptation of Shakespeare`s play Othello, the story revolves around a local gangster, Omkara (Ajay Devgn), along with his chiefs - Ishwar `Langda` Tyagi (Saif Ali Khan) and Keshav `Kesu Firangi` Upadhyay (Vivek Oberoi), works for the local politician Tiwari Bhaisaab. Langda aspires to become Omkara`s successor, but he chooses Kesu instead. Langda feels betrayed and plans a revenge.

Jeetu (Shahid Kapoor) is a down-on-his-luck boy who loses money in whatever business he invests in. His debt keeps increasing. The biggest creditor to Jeetu is Sharmaji (Asrani). In total, Jeetu owes Rs 13 Lakhs 90 thousand to his creditors. He had borrowed money, to buy land and to plant mango saplings, but the land was acquired by the government to lay down a railway track. Due to his huge debts, his father Jai Dev (Anupam Kher), mother (Amita Nangia) and everyone else are worried about him. Jai Dev had already mortgaged his house to pay for Jeetu's failed business ventures. Frustrated, Jeetu breaks off his engagement to Pooja (Sushma Reddy). Pooja's father is Mohan Prakash (Manoj Joshi). Mohan hates Jeetu as he is good for nothing, but knows that Pooja is madly in love with Jeetu, and wont consider marrying anyone else till Jeetu is around. Jeetu decides to commit suicide so that his father can pay off all the debt with the insurance money after her death. Jeetu calls all the people from whom he has taken loan to the riverbank and after telling this, he jumps into the water. Even after people search extensively, his body is not found. Swimmers say that due to high water flow the body might have gone far away. Fishermen Gundiya (Paresh Rawal) and Bandya (Rajpal Yadav) find a man (who is actually Jeetu) in the net. They take him to the hospital and there they start thinking of Jeetu as dumb and deaf. Jeetu also starts doing similar drama. Jeetu had the list of creditors in his pocket, and the money he owed them, but Gundiya misunderstands that believes that Jeetu is a creditor and has to receive that amount of money from his debtors. Gundiya and Bandya hope to get Rs 5 Lakhs as reward for returning Jeetu to his family. Due to Jeetu's drama, Gundiya has no clue of his name or identity and hence cannot claim his reward. Meanwhile the police force Gundiya to take care of Jeetu till his identity is ascertained. Gundiya is worried about all the expenses he is incurring on Jeetu. Gundiya owes money to rich boat owner Prabhat. Prabhat Singh Chauhan (Om Puri) takes Gundiya's boat due to not getting his money. When Gundiya comes to him asking for the boat back, Prabhat Singh Chauhan asks him to give him something to keep as a guarantee. He gives Jeetu and Bandya as guarantee and goes away with the boat. Gundiya tells Prabhat that Jeetu is his nephew Kanhaiya. Natwar Jhunjhunwala (Shakti Kapoor) is Prabhat's manager. Both of them are made to work there as servants at Prabhat's house. Mangal (Suniel Shetty) is the head of the family, even though he is the son of Prabhat's elder brother. Shruti is Mangal's sister. Shruti is dumb and is hence sympathetic towards Jeetu. Meenakshi is Prabhat's daughter and they all live in the same house as a joint family. One day Meenakshi (Neha Dhupia) and Shruti (Kareena Kapoor) discover that Jeetu is not dumb and deaf. Instead of keeping his secret a secret, they want to do something else. Shruti's marriage is arranged in a house which is only greedy for money. The boy's family has for 2 companies and a lot of land as dowry in exchange for marriage with Shruti. To break this marriage, Meenakshi asks Jeetu to pretend to be Shruti's lover and call her fiance, due to which the wedding proposal breaks. Mangal suspects Jeetu of sabotaging the proposal and beats him senseless. But Prabhat intervenes and tells Mangal that even Jeetu is deaf and dumb and hence could not have called the boy's family. Mangal gives Jeetu a job for Rs 20,000 per month. Meenakshi wants Jeetu to leave the house, but Jeetu also refuses and says that he will reveal that Meenakshi was behind the plot to break Shruti's wedding. One day, Sharma comes to meet Prabhat and Meenakshi sees Jeetu hiding from him. Meenakshi learns that Jeetu has a lot of debt and can do anything for money. Meenakshi gets Jeetu's photo from Sharma and realizes that this is the same Kanhaiya who has been living in their house. Before Meenakshi can say anything to Prabhat, Jeetu and Prabhat go by car with a lot of money and meet with a road accident. Due to both of them not returning, they feel as if Jeetu has done something. On Meenakshi's request, the police catch Jeetu and beat him thoroughly. Prabhat returns home and tells that his car met with an accident, after which Jeetu took him to the hospital and after giving the money to the person to whom he was supposed to pay, he went to get the medicine, but did not return. Knowing this they all feel regretful. Meenakshi and Shruti know that Prabhat has been stealing money from Mangal to run his own businesses which are all making losses. In fact, the money that Sharma loaned Jeetu, belonged to Prabhat. They threaten to reveal the truth to Mangal and Prabhat is very afraid of Mangal. Meenakshi and Shruti force Prabhat to give them Rs 13.9 Lakhs and send the money to Jeetu's village through the hands of Bandya. When Bandya meets Mohan, he realizes that Kanhaiya is really Jeetu and is neither deaf nor dumb. Bandya comes and tells that Pooja has got married, hearing which Jeetu becomes happy. Jeetu still won't go back to the village as he knows that Pooja only married someone else believing the Jeetu is dead. Seeing him alive would make Pooja feel very guilty. But in reality, Pooja was living with Jai Dev as Jeetu's widow. Meanwhile, Shruti expresses her love to Jeetu. Mangal learns that Shruti is in love with Jeetu and decides to get them married. Jeetu, now free from debt and in love with Shruti, agrees to the marriage. Jeetu reveals to Mangal that he is not deaf or dumb and assures him that Shruti knew of his reality, and he never betrayed her trust. Meanwhile, Jeetu's family members come to know that Jeetu is alive, when Mangal sends them money via Bandya and Gundiya. Jai Dev goes to meet Jeetu on the day of the wedding, and Jeetu is shocked to learn that Pooja never married anyone else and is living as his widow. He cannot explain anything to Jai Dev as Prabhat pulls him inside the house. Later, Jeetu explains everything to Shruti and goes home to get Pooja's permission to marry Shruti. The family wants Jeetu to accept Pooja, but he is helpless. Jai Dev and Mohan come to the wedding ceremony, and everyone starts arguing. When Pooja learns that Shruti cannot speak, she changes her mind and asks Jeetu to marry Shruti. After this, Jeetu and Shruti get married, and they live happily ever after.

A wealthy casino owner is murdered in her mansion at 36 China Town and the investigating detective uncovers multiple suspects, all with independent motives to commit the crime. Multi-millionaire Sonia Chang; owner of 36 China Town hotel and Hollywood Casino is found dead with the evidences pointing towards people from different walks of life who may have a motive to murder her. Since Balram is of marriageable age, he arranges his marriage with the daughter Dhamini of Laxmi Devi (Lakshmi). Dhamini used to love Balram. Laxmi decides to oppose this marriage. During the wedding ceremony, Laxmi Devi and her sons, Surajbhan (Akhilendra Mishra), and Pratap (Deep Dhillon) forcibly take away their sister from the wedding pyre. Laxmi's husband shoots at Balram, but accidentally kill Parvati. They subsequently get Dhamini married to Kashinath (Shakti Kapoor). An enraged Angar hacks Laxmi's husband to death, is arrested and sentenced to 14 years in prison. When he returns, he makes it clear that women will not be permitted in his house, posting a sign on the front gate, and forbids his sons to ever marry. Advocate Milind Sharma (Asrani) is Angar's lawyer. Angar will take up any issue for the villagers if it against Laxmi's interests. The 4 sons are now settled in their businesses (and Jai studies in law college), but are summoned to the village by Angar, whenever he needs them. 6 years later, Dhamini's daughter Anjali is in college with Jai, Angar's youngest son. Lucky (Arshad Warsi) is Jai's best friend in college. Surya is married to Ramila (Upasana Singh) and Pratap is married to Raakhi (Ada Puri). Angar learns Anjali (Kareena Kapoor) will marry the state's Home Minister. Due to the impending marriage, Anjali quits her law studies midway. Still having a grudge against women, Angar breaks the wedding by political pressure. Angar had kept 10 MLAs under his control and had threatened the Home Minister to refuse the wedding else Angar would topple the government and throw him out of a job. Dhamini had since passed away and hence Laxmi had spared no expense for Anjali's wedding. Laxmi was livid at the humiliation and only her 3rd son Veer was able to calm her down and bring the situation under control. Laxmi's Advocate Namdev tells her that Angar's family is strong and together since they do not have woman among them. He says that a woman is a sure fire way to divide the family. Angar tells Milind that he is not willing to forget the past and will only be at peace when Laxmi and her 2 sons who killed Parvati, are dead. Anjali is Laxmi's granddaughter. Jai humiliates Anjali when she returns to Uday Pratap Law College after her failed engagement. Anjali returns home livid with anger and rage. Suraj, Pratap and Veer want to avenge Anjali's honor by attacking Angar's home. Laxmi convinces Anjali to trick Jai into falling in love with her to cause a rift in the family. Jai meets with Anjali, who openly admits that she is attracted to him. Jai, at first rejects her and is even hostile to her, then decides to teach her and her family a lesson. Lucky makes Jai realize that pretending to be in love with Anjali would be a great way to humiliate her family. Both feign their love for each other. Veer comes to college and finds Anjali with Jai. He proceeds to beat up Jai, when Anjali intervenes and explains that she is doing this on Laxmi's bidding. Jai's brothers find out about the fight and come to college. They want to know who hit Jai and find that it was Veer. Jai manages to convince them that he will deal with the situation in his own way. Subsequently Anjali admits that she wanted to come close to Jai to extract vengeance, as well as Jai admitting his agenda. Both go their separate ways but find that they are indeed in love with each other. Lucky tells Jai to marry Anjali and to run with her to Dubai. Anjali leaves college as she does not want to admit her feelings to Jai, but Jai follows her to her village Anpara and meets her inside her house by hoodwinking her family. They both agree that they love each other and want to get married. In order to get wed, Jai must first convince his elder brothers to get married albeit in vain as none of them even want to consider this option. Then Lucky, Jai's friend, finds out that Kishan, a seemingly celibate Bhagwan Hanuman's devotee, is leading a dual life as Murari, who has been married to a woman, Gopi (Farha Naaz), from Gangapur, for 7 years and has two children, a son and a daughter. When Angar finds out he kicks Kishan and Jai out of his house. A marriage is finalized with Laxmi's Advocate Namdev Mishra's (Manoj Joshi) son Dr. Satyendra "Sattu" Mishra (Sharad Kelkar) for Anjali, but after Jai and Anjali acknowledge their love for each other to her family, Pratap and Surajbhan approach Angar to help them stop Jai from disrupting this marriage on one hand, while Laxmi tells Jai to marry Anjali - setting off confrontations between the estranged sons and father. Jai, Kishan and his wife Gopi, and Lucky sneak into the wedding festival with the help of Anjali's uncle Veeru/Veer (Suniel Shetty). Jai is dressed as the bridegroom and successfully completes the wedding ceremony. Once Laxmi recognizes Jai in disguise, she confronts Angar to cut his own son's throat. Jai tells his father he won't go through with the wedding without his approval. Balram the oldest of the brothers finally tells Jai to place the wedding necklace on Anjali's neck which finalizes the wedding. The necklace is grabbed from Jai's hands and a race goes throughout the wedding hall chasing Jai to stop him, but in the end, Jai succeeds, and the marriage is completed. Anjali asks her grandmother to stop the feud their families and Jai asks his father for forgiveness. Angar leaves the wedding and contemplates all his son's actions on the way home. All brothers and the two wives arrive and the gate. Angar looks at his sons and takes the sign off the gate and finally welcomes women back into his family.

Joint Commissioner of Police Dev Pratap Singh (Amitabh Bachchan), a duty-bound, self-righteous officer (He has just killed a minority community student leader as he was conducting unlawful activities on campus), and Special Commissioner Tejinder Khosla (Om Puri), the balancing force between the political interests of Chief Minister Bhandarker (Amrish Puri) and Dev's commitment to the law, are lifelong friends, each with his own ideals. On a train bound for Bombay from Surat, a Police Inspector questions Farhaan, who has just obtained his law degree, for his reason to go to Bombay, and whether he has any alliance with Pakistanis. Farhaan answers that he is going to Bombay to live with his father, and he does not know anyone from Pakistan. Farhaan finds out that Bombay Police have been targeting the Muslim community, and in the name of fighting terrorism, have been killing innocent Muslim men, women and children. Dev has had a meeting with Muslim community leaders asking them to share list of all people attending their madrasas, their funding and any suspicious activities. corrupt politician Latif (Ehsan Khan) is angry with this biased attitude from Dev, but moderate leader Ali Khan (Pramod Moutho) wants to cooperate with the government. Ali is Farhaan's dad. Farhaan comes to know from Ali that Joint Commissioner of Police, Dev Pratap Singh, is involved in this witch-hunt. Dev orders the encounter of Kareem Khan of Latif's party involved in smuggling of arms. Kareem tries to hide behind his family and as a result, the family is also killed. The community is outraged and launches peaceful demonstrations (egged on by Latif). Latif publicly asks Ali to lead the Morcha. Latif's men start throwing stones & petrol bombs at the police during the Morcha, prompting Dev to open fire. As a result, Ali is killed. Latif meets CM's right hand man MangalRao (Milind Gunaji) and conveys that he helped the CM get elected in exchange for a promise of a MLA ticket. He reminds Mangal Rao for the CM to keep his promise. Meanwhile Farhaan meets Latif and says he wants to kill Dev. Farhaan is provided training in handling guns, and is subsequently made ready for this task. Aaliya (Kareena Kapoor) is the light in Farhaan's life. Beautiful and innocent, the young woman also gets caught in extraordinary circumstances that transform her life and she dares to stand up for the truth. Unfortunately, Farhaan is unable to kill Dev, who escapes unhurt. But one of Farhaan's assistant is killed and is identified to be Latif's man. Chief Minister Bhandarkar views this incident seriously, and instructs Tej to root out terrorist elements in the city. Tej raids Latif's hideouts and manages to capture Farhaan. Farhaan is eventually released as there is no evidence against him. Dev tries to counsel Farhaan that Latif is using him for political purposes. Tej is an ultra Hindu Nationalist, while Dev is a secularist in his views. Dev sees Armaan in Farhaan. Latif is alarmed by Farhaan's release as this was unexpected. He plans to divert their attention by conducting a bomb blast in the city and stoking communal tensions. Latif chooses Farhaan for the job as he does not intend for Farhaan to escape alive. Farhaan is told to deliver a package to a man near a Hindu temple, and he does so. While at a stop to buy some snacks, the package explodes prematurely, killing several people, but Farhaan survives. Since this incident occurred near a Hindu temple, a right-wing political party member, Mangal Rao, organizes a wave of riots against the Muslim community. Riots take place, and CM instructs Tej to observe and not prevent the violence. As a result, hundreds are killed. Latif organizes his men to target and attack Hindus and Hindu establishments, rendering the region unsafe, with people being killed in the name of religion. Dev is at the location, but is under orders from Tej not to act. After waiting, Dev decides to ignore his orders and bring the situation under control. Aaliya escapes sexual assault and Farhaan finds her and takes her to a hospital where Bharati treats her. When Hindus and Muslims have had enough, they publicly ask for peace, it is only then Latif and Mangal Rao agree on a truce, on the condition that no Muslim male, female or child will file a FIR (First Information Report) in any police station, to which Latif agrees. Latif then warns everyone in the Muslim community not to complain against anyone. Period. But Latif frames it as saying that Muslims cannot hope to get Justice from this govt and hence there is no point begging for it. But Aaliya breaks rank and complains to Dev publicly about his police officers and Mangal Rao, whom she had witnessed during the riots. Seeing Aaliya, many witnesses come forward. Mangal Rao is arrested by Dev. CM and Tej want Dev to release Mangal Rao, but he refuses. Latif summons Farhaan and beats him senseless and wants to kill him, but Farhaan escapes. It is then Farhaan finds out that he has been treated as a pawn by Latif, and decides to trust Dev and become an informer. Tej releases Mangal Rao and he plans to kill Aaliya. Tej knows this & stops Dev from helping the victims as Mangal Rao sets fire to the entire colony where Aaliya lived (Aaliya had secretly moved in with Bharati, without Tej or Dev's knowledge). Dev writes a formal complaint against Tej and this leads to a departmental inquiry. As Dev heads to court, he is shot down by unknown assailants on the steps of the court, and it is clear that Tej instigated the shoot-out. Tej tries to use the chaos to shoot Farhaan, but Dev saves him before dying. Tej is riddled with guilt on Dev's death and understands that Dev treated Farhaan like his own son. Tej kills himself and hands over all the evidence to Frahaan so that he can fight the battle in court.

Babu (Suresh Oberoi) works for a gang that is led by Chhote Pathan (Kabir Bedi) and his men Rajjo Singh (Raj Babbar) and D.K Sharma (Dalip Tahil). Babu knows many of the gang's secrets, and Chhote promises him that if he keeps his mouth shut, they will look after his family; they betray him. He is rescued by an honest police inspector (Ashish Vidyarthi). Babu returns home to find that his wife Poornima (Raakhee), Arjun (his son), and Pooja (his daughter) live a destitute life from Chhote's betrayal. He tells Poornima that they betrayed him for his silence and swears vengeance. He then teams up with the inspector and reveals the locations of their deals, and many gang members are arrested. Chhote finds Babu hiding and threatens him. He and his men take him to Babu's home, and punish him in front of Poornima and her children. Arjun is out doing his job to earn money, and only Poornima and Pooja are present at home. Poornima begs Chhote to forgive them and promises to leave the city. Chhote grabs Pooja and then tells Poornima that he will take his daughter with them, raise her for 10-12 years, then sell her. Babu tries to save his daughter and Chhote decapitates him. Pooja screams for help when she sees her brother returning home from work. He fails to follow her, and he runs back home to find his father dead and his mother having a mental breakdown; she considers Pooja's toy doll her daughter and does not recognize Arjun. Arjun goes to the inspector, who cannot find Chhote or Pooja. He tells Arjun that they have completely disappeared and may have fled the city. Arjun promises that he will not give up and promises to search for his sister. Ten years later, Poornima is housed in a mental hospital, and Arjun (Akshay Kumar) has become a high-profile vigilante. He works for the police inspector, now the Commissioner of Police, by exposing illegal firearms transactions. The Commissioner of Police tells Arjun that he finds a clue that may lead him to Pooja. He tells Arjun how after Chhote and his gang murdered his father, fled the city and reached the city of Ghaziabad, Chhote and Rajjo were killed in a police chase. D.K. Sharma took over the gang and disappeared, and there has been no news of him since. He learned about Shetty (Rami Reddy), a famous arms smuggler who was once Chhote's driver. Arjun finds Shetty and asks where his sister is. Shetty tells him that Sharma knows, and tries to shoot Arjun, but is shot by the Commissioner instead. From the police control room, they see Sharma arriving from a flight, and him taking a girl named Tina (Kareena Kapoor) on a Rajasthan tour. Arjun catches Sharma and interrogates him. Sharma says that Rajjo is still alive and knows where his sister is, and Tina is his daughter. Arjun drops Sharma to his death. Back at the police control room, the Commissioner shows camera footage proving Rajjo is alive. Arjun travels to South Africa and meets Sardar Vichitra Singh (Gulshan Grover), and tells him that he has come to find Rajjo. Arjun reveals to Tina about her father's identity. Tina confronts Rajjo, and he realizes his mistakes. Before he can reveal where Chhote has kept Pooja he gets shot and dies in Tina's arms. Tina tells Arjun to follow Rocky. Chhote makes an appearance, and Arjun kills him and Rocky. Arjun comes back to India with Pooja and reunites with Tina and his family.

Pinky alias Pooja Malhotra (Kareena Kapoor) and Karan (Tusshar Kapoor) are childhood sweethearts. During this time they exchange vows that they will live for each other only. They separate shortly after but they do not forget their vows. Pooja frantically searches for her sweetheart, but to no avail. Raj gets a job at the polo club, where Priya's dad (Dalip Tahil) is the chairman. They marry and reside in Switzerland, where they meet another Indian couple: Vikram (Akshay Kumar) and Sonia (Bipasha Basu). The couples quickly become friends and decide to go on a Christmas vacation together to Mauritius. Raj was against going to Mauritius as he is not as wealthy as Vikram. But Vikram fakes an accident and gets a payout of $50K on his accident insurance policy and offers that money to Raj to convince him to come. Priya insists that Raj should go, Raj agrees to wants to pay for his own and Priya's expenses. During their vacation, Raj sees Vikram with another woman, kissing and looking intimate. At the same time, Sonia begins to try to seduce Raj, who rejects her. Vikram notices Raj looking at Sonia and casually talks to him about wife swapping and Vicky casually suggests Raj to enjoy with Sonia and asks whether he (Vicky )could enjoy with Priya overnight , this upsets Raj and an argument breaks out between the two men. Raj takes Priya away from Mauritius. However, a couple of days later Vikram and Sonia also return, Raj & Vikram they resolve their issues and become friends again (Raj saves Vikram's life when a car falls on him when he was working under it for repairs). On Vikram's birthday, the two men celebrate by getting drunk together, sharing bottles of alcohol. Once again, Vikram asks whether he could become Raj for one night, which Raj rebuffs, but still, both men end up in opposite houses. The next day Raj wakes up to find a semi-naked woman in bed and realizes he is in Vicky's house. After talking to Priya about the events from last night, he imagines Vicky was able to seduce and convince Priya to go ahead with his wife swapping and making passionate love throughout the night (Although Priya never said anything to that effect, but her half sentences gave that impression). After some time, Sonia is found dead, and Raj is accused of her murder by Vikram saying that Raj spent the whole night with Sonia and additionally his fingerprints are found on the murder weapon - an alcohol bottle. Priya is shocked as she never did anything with Vikram. In jail, Vikram visits Raj and offers him 14 Lakh dollars if he admits to killing Sonia and takes the punishment of life imprisonment (14 yrs). In court Vikram says that Raj took him to the airport bar after leaving the wives at home. But neither had money, so Raj went back to bring his wallet, but instead went into Vikram's house to sexually assault Sonia. Sonia resisted and Raj killed her. However, one of Raj's neighbors is also in court and he remembers seeing that 2 men entered Vikram's house and not one. Raj alleges in court that he went into Vikram's house to warn Sonia about his errant behavior, but then passed out. Determined to prove his innocence, Raj manages to escape from the court and is chased by the Swiss police. He meets Priya, who eventually believes his innocence and aids him in finding out what really happened. Raj tells Priya that he never went to the airport bar with Vikram and wants to prove this. They meet their neighbor who tells Raj that Vikram left alone that night. But later that night 2 men returned to Vikram's house (when Raj was already inside). He decides to search Vikram's house, only to be interrupted by Vikram, who calls the police and then reveals that everything was planned in advance. Raj escapes in Vikram's car with Priya. Raj finds a boarding pass that belongs to Sonia Bajaj from her book in Vikram's car, which states that Sonia arrived in Zurich on 29 December - however, Sonia was supposedly murdered on that night. Raj suspects her to be the woman he saw with Vikram, traveling to Geneva together. In Geneva, Priya finds the address of the woman who bought the ticket to Zurich for the 29th Dec. At her house, Raj finds an insurance officer who is trying to find evidence that Vikram was involved in the death of his wife, in order to receive her life insurance payment of $100 million. Working with the insurance agent, Raj traces Vikram to a cruise ship. There, he sees Vikram dancing with a woman who is revealed to be 'Sonia', alive and well. Raj confronts Vikram, who finally explains the whole devious plan - the woman whom he kissed in Mauritius was his actual wife Sonia Bajaj (Mink Brar), while the woman with him that Priya and Raj were introduced to in Switzerland is his girlfriend Neeta. Vikram, a struggling musician, married the wealthy and glamorous Sonia and convinced her to take out an insurance plan of $100 million on herself. That night, Vikram went to the airport to pick up the real Sonia. He went to the bar to get a witness that he was there, and slipped out to take Sonia home. The neighbor saw Vikram and Soni entering Vikram's house. Vikram used Raj's champagne bottle to kill Sonia and disfigure her face. Then he put Neeta on the flight to Geneva and went back to the airport bar to stay there till the morning. Vikram boasts about having pinned the murder on Raj. However, Raj takes Vikram to a computer and shows him his empty bank account. Raj says that he had guessed the password, "Everything is planned", something that Vikram used to say a lot, and used it to transfer the money back to the insurance company. Raj also reveals that everything Vikram said had been recorded. A fight erupts between the two and Neeta dies in the conflict. Angered at losing Neeta, Vikram gets aggressive, killing the insurance officer and seemingly kills Raj. He chases Priya to kill her too, but Raj is able to save her. Vikram dies when he is impaled by an anchor from the cruise ship. Raj and Priya return to India in the end.

Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai focuses on Karan (Tusshar Kapoor), who is a teenager, though fails in studies, performs excellent music with his friends. His father, Krishna (Dalip Tahil) believes he should give up music and focus on his studies. Sushma (Himani Shivpuri) is Karan's mother. Balram Singh (Amrish Puri) is Krishna's elder brother, and they live in a joint family. Karan's college friends are Chinku (Vrajesh Hirjee), Dabbu (Hemant Pandey) and Hrithik (Gopal Datt). Priya (Rinke Khanna) is Karan's sister, and is studying to become a doctor. Karan's elder brother Pankaj is a computer engineer Chiku tries to commit suicide when the girl he loves is being forcefully married to someone else by her father. Karan gets Pinky to run away from her house and brings her to the temple to marry Chiku. Pinky's father arrives at the temple and brings Chiku with him. He had beaten Chiku so much, that he refuses to marry Pinky. Karan fights off Pinky's father and all of his goons. The father is a MLA and calls the police. Karan is arrested and faces wrath from Krishna. That night, Karan is depressed. Wandering on the streets, he notices young Pooja (Kareena Kapoor) playing with little children. Before he can approach her, she leaves. After that, he starts to see her everywhere (on the streets, at the temple and so on) (but every-time Pooja leaves before Karan can approach her or talk to her), and completely falls in love with her. He looks day and night, but there is no sign of Pooja. Pooja is a philanthropist and the niece of Rana Virendra Pratap Singh (Alok Nath). Priya derides Karan and says that this is merely attraction and not love. One day Pooja notices Karan save a dosing girl from falling off her father's scooter.. Pooja likes all people who do good and wants to take his autograph. But before she can reach out to Karan, he has already left. Priya is being harassed by some goons led by gang leader (Yashpal Sharma). Karan finds out and picks up a huge fight with them. The gang-leader is beaten up and retreats as Karan's friends arrive with reinforcements. To get Karan to focus on his studies, he is sent to Shimla to stay his uncle, where their car breaks down. He hitches a ride from a stranger, and is shocked to find out that the driver is his dream girl, Pooja (she was also sent to Shimla by her father). During the drive, a truck hits the car which falls into a valley. Karan and Pooja hang by the edge of the cliff but Karan saves Pooja before his hands slip and he falls down. After gaining consciousness, Pooja realizes it was her fault that Karan died and searches for his body. Meanwhile, Karan is found by a lumberjack in the forest and is taken to a hospital. He is reunited with his family, and starts his rehabilitation at home. Pooja finds Karan first (by working with her uncle Rana Virendra Pratap) and they start a friendship. Pooja is relieved that Karan has lived. Balram advises Karan to go fast and announce his love to Pooja. But Priya advises that Pooja is a mature woman and says that Karan should get to know her first.. Karan starts spending more time with Pooja. Pooja comes over to Karan's house for Teej.. Pooja and Priya become close friends. Balram treats her like family. Karan's friends also meet Pooja and sing his praises in front of her. Karan finds that Krishna has fixed Priya marriage with an avg looking doctor who studies with her. He knows Priya's ambitions of marrying a good looking, handsome man. He objects to his family. But Balram tells Karan that Priya has selected the guy. Priya confirms the news and says that she realized that Rajesh really loves her and is devoted to her. His love is pure and he will keep her happy, so she is OK to sacrifice for looks and other things. When it feels like their friendship is evolving into something more, he finds out that Rana Sahab has planned an engagement to a US friend of Pooja. But later Pooja tells Karan that her friend is engaged to some other girl and not Pooja. Karan is very relieved. He spends even more time with Pooja as she participates in the family festivities around Priya's wedding. For Pooja's birthday, Karan writes her a letter with his blood, but she finds it disgusting. At the same time she gives him a trumpet as a gift.. Karan's friends advise him that the time has come to express his love to Pooja. The gangster returns just as Karan was heading to Pooja and destroys the trumpet. Karan is enraged and beats up the gangster badly and forces him to retreat. Karan reaches Pooja and finds that Pooja is also bound for America for further studies (her application to Harvard was accepted). Devastated, he finally confesses that he loves her (after being yelled at by Priya (just before her departure from the wedding ceremony) to tell the truth to Pooja, as Karan didn't want Pooja to stay back because of him). Actually Karan never said a word and warned his entire family from saying anything to Pooja. But Pooja figures out that Karan loves her just before she is about to leave for her flight at the airport. Pooja cannot deny her feelings, also confesses her love and they both promise to marry each other when she gets back.

Raj is against love marriages and when his daughter Isha falls in love with Ronit Malhotra, he opposes their relationship. Will Ronit and Isha sacrifice their love for the sake of their parents or will they manage to convince them? Raj Singh Puri is best friends with L.K. Malhotra who is in turn younger brother to J.K. Bihar-based Muslim Manzur Ahmed (Kulbhushan Kharbanda) and his family was migrated to East Pakistan after the partitioning of India in 1947. However, after the formation of the state of Bangladesh in 1971, he and several other people were forced to re-locate to the western part of Pakistan. To do this by land, they will have to cross India. The route from Dhaka leads to Guwahati in India then to Delhi then to Ajmer then to Bhuj, and then on to Haji Peer in Pakistan. They get as far as Bhuj, but afterward they are assisted by an agent known only as "Refugee" (Abhishek Bachchan), who helps them trek their way across the Great Rann of Kutch to Pakistan. Makkad (Ashish Vidyarthi) is Refugee's handler and brings clients for him, in exchange for a commission. Refugee considers his clients as mere items of luggage and refuses to be emotionally involved with them and their stories. Then he meets Nazneen Ahmed (Kareena Kapoor), the young daughter of Manzur Ahmed, and he forgets this rule and falls in love with her. Police on both sides of the border are aware of the illegal refugee traffic and the Indian BSF led by Raghuvir Singh regularly questions Refugee and his old father Jaan Muhammad (Anupam Kher) on border crossings. Jaan is married to Amina (Reena Roy). Manzur and his family stay at Jaan's brother Atta Mohammad's (Avtar Gill) place on the other side of the border. Pakistani rangers led by Ashraf search Atta's house, who tells Ashraf that Manzur and his family have come from another village for Naaz's marriage. Tausif (Mukesh Tiwari) is Ashraf's lieutenant. Manzur's mother dies due to the strain of the crossing. Tausif has his eye on Naaz's younger sister Salma, but Ashraf stops him and asks him to leave the family alone. Refugee crosses the border regularly to see Naaz. The journey to Pakistan changes the course of Refugee's life -- he falls in love with the pretty Naaz. The girl too reciprocates his feelings. Naaz wants to create a home with Refugee in Pakistan. But the lovers face an uphill task, for: (i) Naaz is now settled in Pakistan, while he stays in India. (ii) The head of the security keeping a strict vigil on the border of Pakistan. Ashraf (Sunil Shetty), a Pakistani, falls for the innocent charms of Naaz and wants to marry her. Naaz's family agrees to this match, not realizing that their daughter's heart yearns for Refugee. (iii) The Border Security Force in India has learned of the illegal activities of Refugee and wants to take him to task. Shadab is the one who is passing information to the BSF rangers, in exchange for money. On one crossing, Raghuvir manages to spot Refugee crossing the border and shoots him in the leg, but Refugee escapes by hiding in a hole in the ground, covered by foliage. On the Indian side, Refugee is cared for by Sikh priest (Puneet Issar), who hides him in a cave. Refugee crosses the border once again to visit Nazneen Ahmed. Due to a miscommunication, Naaz believes that her parents have agreed to her marriage to Refugee, while they had suggested her wedding with Ashraf. One day, Refugee assists four men (led by Gul Hamid (Sudesh Berry)) to enter the Indian side of the border. These men then enlist the help of Mr. Muhammad's other son Shadab (Shadaab Khan) to get to Delhi. Shadab is addicted to gambling and liquor and does all illegal things to fund his expensive tastes. Shortly thereafter, explosions take place in trains, buses, and buildings in the Indian capital. Shadab returns home with Rs 1 Lakh in cash, which he was given to place a bomb in train. Jaan throws Shadab out of the house for betraying the nation. After the blasts, villages on both sides are rounded up. Tausif wants to arrest Munzir for being an illegal immigrant, but Ashraf stops him. Tausif informs Ashraf that he is willing to break the law for Naaz, who has already slept with someone else. Naaz also affirms that she has only ever loved Refugee. Refugee crosses the border again and meets Naaz. Naaz requests Refugee to take her with him since her father wants to marry her to Ashraf. Munzir informs Ashraf that Naaz is crossing the border with Refugee. While crossing the border through Rann they are captured by Pakistanis rangers. Refugee is beaten up and sent to India on a camel. Ashraf leaves to return Naaz home, while Tausif beats up Refugee mercilessly before sending him back on a camel. Tausif tells Naaz that Ashraf was the one who broke Refugee before returning him to India. Naaz confronts Ashraf for torturing Refugee before sending him back to India. In retaliation, Ashraf confronts Tausif, and kills him after a brutal battle. The Indian BSF led by Raghuvir Singh (Jackie Shroff) captures him and treats him in hospital. The Indians informs him that he unknowingly helped terrorists cross into India and caused several deaths. Refugee confronts his father Jaan, who confirms Refugee's involvement in helping terrorists to cross the border. Refugee joins the BSF and fights the terrorists who laid siege to his village. The terrorists led by Gul Hamid plan to capture the village and assimilate in Pakistan. Jaan resists the terrorists and his own brother Atta who was supporting the terrorists. Atta shoots Jaan and he dies, but due to Jaan's death, the villagers refuse to support the terrorists. Shadab escapes the village to inform the BSF but is shot dead as well. Refugee leads the attack on the village and kills both Atta and Gul Hamid. Naaz tries to cross the border several times but is captured by the Pakistani Rangers. Ashraf agrees to take Naaz to the Haji Peer Mela, which is an event celebrated jointly by Muslim families on both sides of the border. The event is attended by both BSF and the Pakistani Rangers. Naaz runs into Refugee at the event, and Ashraf brings a priest to get them married. Raghuvir allows Refugee to bring Naaz to India, but she is heavily pregnant and goes into labor at the border crossing. The film ends with Nazneen Ahmed giving birth to Refugee's child at the border between the two nations. Indian and Pakistani BSF officers discuss the child's nationality in a lighter vein.
