Sam (John Travolta) and Cam Munroe (Toby Sebastian) are a father and son duo competing at the Talladega dirt car race pits. Sam is a local racing legend who now supports his son's racing career in between dating divorcee Becca (Shania Twain). Despite being a talented racer, Cam's car doesn't race well due to poor funding, even though he is considered to be the best dirt track racer seen in a while. Even in the last race of the season, the engine smokes out while Cam was in the lead. Cam was unable to finish the race, and this has been happening all season. Cam is consistently beaten on the tracks by Bob Linsky. Sam has a tow truck business. He lost his wife in a car accident a while ago. With Becca, Sam is trying to move on with his life. Jen, his wife, was the first girl that Sam kissed, and they ended up being married. Her death was a huge blow to Sam and his own racing career. He stopped racing after Jen's death. Racing is a family tradition as Sam's father taught him and he taught Cam. His uncle raced and his cousins still race. Frustrated for losing the race due to engine issues, Sam's long-time rival, Linsky (Michael Madsen), offers Cam a chance to join his team with a new car. Cindy (Rosabell Laurenti Sellers), Cam's wife strongly advises him against taking up Linsky's offer, but Cam had decided that he didn't want to be a loser all his life. Cam says that he wants to be a Champion and knows that he never be that so long as he is racing with Sam. Linsky also promised him a job at his car service center, if Cam drives for him. Cindy is adamant that Linsky is not trustworthy, but by this point Cam's mind is already made. Cindy is a waitress at a local diner. Cam decides to leave his father to join Linksy as a chance to prove his worth and win races. When Cam tells his father about his choice to join Linsky, Sam is enraged and warns that Linsky is a snake before firing his own son from the garage. With this decision, Cam manages to antagonize both Sam and Cindy. Feeling down from Cam's defection, Sam spends the night drinking his woes away with his friend Stumpy (Kevin Dunn). By the following day, Sam decides to bring himself out of retirement and restore his status as a champion racer. While everyone thinks Sam is crazy to race so late in life, he quickly proves his experience and driving skills are still top notch and wins several races. Stumpy tells Sam that he needs a new engine, but Sam knows that he does not have that kind of money lying around. Sam decides to race with what he has. Soon, it's the opening race of the season. Cam, Linsky and Sam both qualify for the final race. The races themselves are 12 laps around a dirt track. Even though Linsky has by far the more powerful car, Sam outmaneuvers him and wins the race. This was Sam's first race in 6 years. Soon, Sam is third in points, with 5 races to go. Sam heads into the Ford 50 race, with the Championship within reach. With Sam reclaiming his title as champion racer, Linsky feels threatened by Sam and wants Cam to crash into Sam's car at the Ford 50. Unable to crash into his father, Cam back off in the race and expects to be fired by Linsky. Linsky apologizes to Cam for asking him to hurt his own father and doesn't fire him. Linsky is even more worried as Sam has a sizable lead on him in the points race. But secretly, Linsky has another racer stage a crash at the next race. Sam tries to connect with Cam, but he pushes him back. Cam says that Sam never talked to him about anything important as Sam was only interested in racing. Cam asks Sam to stay out of his life and let him live his life his own way. Dunn (Chris Mullinax) causes Cam to spin out and Sam crashes into Cam's car onto the side. Cam's car catches fire and Sam has to pull him out of the wreck, as Cam was knocked unconscious. Although Cam survives his crash, he suffers multiple fractures on his leg, and he is out of race for several months. The doctor says that with time Cam will make a full recovery and regain the use of his legs. In between these six months of recovery, Sam and Cam make peace with each other and Sam learns about Linsky wanting Cam to crash into him. With both cars severely damaged, they need a new car to get back into racing. Throughout this time, Sam has kept the 1970 Mustang that killed his wife. Because of sentimental value, he could never sell it. However, in order to buy a new dirt Late Model for Cam to drive, which costs about $80,000, Sam decides to sell his car to Linsky. Now devoting all his energy into building the new car, the Munroe family pools their efforts into getting the car ready and supports Cam's return to the circuit. Linsky wants to beat Sam to finally prove who's the better racer; he has to settle with racing Cam instead. During the race, Linsky spins out Cam in the final two laps of the race. Cam manages to restart his car and rallies from the rear of the field over the final two laps (which is quite unlikely) and wins the race. Linsky is denied his victory as Munroe won the race. When commenting about the race with the press, Cam gives credit to Sam and his loving wife for their support. In the aftermath, the Munroe's celebrate Cam's daughter's first birthday. Cam has gotten a new apartment to settle the family in and Sam solidifies his relationship with Becca, having finally found happiness and peace with his life.

Bill and Jeanie were together 33 years. It was only 60 days from her diagnosis until her death. One night, Bill walks into the bedroom of his teenage son Wes and says he can't do this any more. With little warning, the Blue '71 Mustang is towing a U-Haul trailer along the Pacific Coast headed toward Los Angeles. Paul, headmaster of St. Martin's, a private boys' school, dated Jeanie before Bill but eventually got over it. Bill has been offered a job teaching math. Bill and Wes move into a house and soon visit the school. Wes has to wear a uniform, and there is one in the lost and found. Paul tells Wes the boys all have to choose a sport, so Wes, who wasn't interested in sports, chooses cross country. Wes is the new kid but he soon makes friends. Girls from Cavalcade Academy come to St. Martin's for some classes. One of the girls is the very pretty Lacy, who is not very social. Wes is in French class with her. Ms. Roussel, the teacher, observes that Wes is one of her best students. This is because his mother was fluent. Lacy is failing so Ms. Roussel asks Wes to tutor her. After one of his classes, Bill is asked by Paul to get therapy since the school will cover it. He thinks Bill has been grieving too long and could use help. At home, Wes watches videos of his mother on his phone. One shows Bill and Jeanie having a picnic, and Jeanie has long red hair. The other shows Jeanie with no hair and her head covered, appearing to say goodbye to Wes and saying how much she loves him. Meanwhile, Bill is in the garage looking at a gigantic painting Jeanie did which is very colorful but does not obviously represent anything. Bill gives Wes the Mustang and starts riding a bike left behind at their house. Wes visits Lacy at home. Lacy is not very nice but she is expected to do this, so she lets Wes help her. Bill works on a garden, intending to grow vegetables to be eaten, and he comments on how much Jeanie liked tomatoes. After therapy, Dr. Rollens prescribed Lexapro but Bill doesn't like the way it makes him feel. On a later visit to Lacy, Wes sees blood on Lacy's arm. Lacy makes him leave and Lacy's younger sister Annabelle introduces herself. She is adorable and sarcastic. Coach Keyes is a jerk but he asks Ms. Roussel to go on a date. She pretends she needs to talk to Bill about a student and asks Bill to play along. Raffi and Gober are Wes' closest friends as they run cross country together. However, Wes is very slow and holds them back. He lets them go on ahead. As they return from a run Ms. Roussel asks Wes how Lacy is doing and Wes tries not to give too much information. After class, Ms. Roussel asks Lacy how she is doing and is very persistent, which causes Lacy to start crying, but it is not clear what is wrong. In several later scenes, Wes sees blood again and figures out Lacy is cutting herself. While Wes is at lunch with Raffi and Gober, Mason, who is a jerk, makes disparaging remarks about Lacy that Wes can't ignore. They fight and Paul gives them detention, and they have to spend time on the weekends picking up litter. Ms. Roussel meets Bill at the pharmacy after Dr. Rollens changes him to Cymbalta. They eventually go on several dates. One date is at a restaurant where the waiter speaks French very well and Bill has no idea what the two are saying. During one of his tutoring sessions with Lacy, Wes is invited to eat with the family. Lacy's mother Barbara is proper but critical. Lacy's father Davis is pleasant but thinks he should be treated better because he pays for everything. Wes learns they are separated but still live in the same house. In a later scene Lacy is comforting Annabelle as their parents fight. Paul and his wife Nancy invite Wes and Bill to a birthday party for Bill, and Wes and Bill both bring dates. Wes and Lacy go parking but Lacy doesn't even want to kiss. On a later visit by Wes, Lacy gives him a front passenger seat for the Mustang, since it didn't have one. Wes can't put it in properly because apparently it was a driver's seat, so anyone who sits there faces backwards. Wes, Lacy and Annabelle have a fun time riding before Wes has to join his friends for litter patrol. Annabelle helps make that fun. Mason comes to Lacy's house at night and calls to her. She is depressed enough that she goes out with Mason and his friends, who play loud music and drink in a van. While they are having fun around a fire, Lacy goes off by herself and calls Ms. Roussel to come get her. Mason brags at school about what he and Lacy supposedly did. Wes comes to Lacy's house and says he will no longer tutor her. After Bill and Ms. Roussel end up in bed, Bill feels guilty and breaks up with her. Dr. Rollens recommends a grief support group. After some time has passed, Bill is teaching his class and can't seem to remember anything. Then he passes out. He ends up in the hospital and Dr. Rollens thinks it is time for desperate measures, including electroshock therapy. After treatment, Bill seems to have given up on life. As he and Wes eat a meal, Wes angrily demands he do something. If he's going to just give up and die, do it now. He went through something like this with his mom, so Wes is ready for all of this to be over. Bill seems to be getting better. The movie alternates between Wes participating in a race and Bill going through some possessions in the garage, with flashbacks to when Jeanie was alive. Bill calls Michael and says the museum would be a great place for all of Jeanie's art. Wes is shown passing other runners. He is in first place at the end and Bill is there to congratulate him. Bill returns to teaching and he is willing to date Ms. Roussel again. Lacy passes French without any further help from Wes, who is interested in spending time with her also. Both couples go for ice cream in the Mustang, with the passenger seat still backwards.

Lions for Lambs is a story woven around an idealistic professor and two students at a West Coast university, Arian (Derek Luke) and Ernest (Michael Pea). Professor Dr. Malley (Robert Redford) tries to motivate them to do something significant with their lives. Meanwhile, the charismatic congressman Jasper Irving (Tom Cruise) gets in touch with inquiring veteran T.V. journalist (Meryl Streep). Will she reveal anything about congressman and his new military plan for Afghanistan? Where would their professor`s motivation lead Arian and Ernest?

Tom Witzky (Kevin Bacon) is a phone lineman living in a working-class neighborhood in Chicago with his pregnant wife Maggie (Kathryn Erbe) and his son Jake (Zachary David Cope), who possesses the ability to commune with the dead. At a party one evening, Tom challenges Maggie's sister Lisa (Illeana Douglas), a believer in paranormal activity and psychic telepathy, to hypnotize him. After putting him under, Lisa plants a post-hypnotic suggestion in Tom urging him to "be more open-minded." Tom then begins experiencing visions of a violent scuffle involving a girl who he later learns is Samantha Kozac (Jennifer Morrison), a 17 year-old that disappeared from the neighborhood six months prior. While Tom and Maggie attend a high school football game, Jake is overheard by his babysitter, Debbie Kozac (Liza Weil), as he speaks with Samantha. Debbie gets upset and snatches Jake, running off with him in the night. Meanwhile, Tom senses Jake is in danger and rushes home but finds him gone. Tom then sees strange flashes of red light that eventually leads him to the 'L' station where Debbie is speaking with her mother about Jake. When Tom and Maggie confront her, Debbie angrily questions them about her sister Samantha, explaining that she had an intellectual disability: having the mental capacity of an 8 year-old and thus, a child's tendency to trust strangers. Tom denies knowing her to Debbie, but admits to Maggie that she's the girl in his visions. Tom becomes obsessed with Samantha and begins probing members of the community about her disappearance. This attracts the attention of his landlord Harry Damon (Conor O'Farrell), Tom's friend, Frank McCarthy (Kevin Dunn) and their respective sons Kurt Damon (Steve Rifkin) and Adam McCarthy (Chalon Williams), who all dismiss Samantha as a runaway teen. During an afternoon walk, Jake and Maggie encounter a funeral where Chicago policemen are saluting in a ceremony; here a policeman named Neil (Eddie Bo Smith Jr.) immediately recognizes Jake's unique talent and invites Tom to a private gathering of like-minded people to learn more about what is happening to his son. Maggie withholds her conversation with Neil from Tom and goes to the meeting herself where Neil tells her the spirit that contacted Tom has asked for something and will continue to get upset if it doesn't get done. As predicted, Samantha begins plaguing Tom, eventually leading to his insomnia. He goes back to Lisa demanding she undo what she did, but when she hypnotizes him he's told by the spirit to dig. Tom complies and begins digging holes in the backyard and eventually tears up the house in a desperate attempt to appease Samantha. While Maggie and Jake attend her grandmother's wake at a relative's house, Tom inadvertently knocks down a shoddy brick wall in the basement and discovers Samantha's decomposed remains wrapped in a plastic sheet. He receives a vision showing him that before his family moved in, Adam and Kurt lured Samantha into the house to rape her. When she resisted, they unintentionally suffocated her and hid her body. Tom brings Frank back to the basement to disclose to him the crime and Frank breaks down and admits that Adam and Kurt had already confided their secret to him and Harry. Frank pulls out a gun and demands to be alone. As Tom leaves the basement, he hears a single shot and assumes that Frank committed suicide. Harry and Kurt suddenly show up and Harry, in his capacity as landlord, voices displeasure with the torn up house. They corner Tom with the intention of killing him to silence him, but Maggie arrives back home and Harry takes her hostage. Frank suddenly emerges from the basement and fatally shoots both Kurt and Harry in order to save Tom and Maggie. Tom then notices Samantha's spirit putting on her glasses and coat, smiling as she walks down the road and disappears. Afterwards, the family packs up a U-Haul and moves out of the house. Meanwhile, Samantha's mother and sister are finally able to give her a proper funeral and burial. Tom and Maggie smile happily as they drive away but Jake, however, tries to cover his ears to drown out the sound of the overlapping voices in his head.

The film begins with GloboTech Industries acquiring the Heartland toy company, CEO Gil Mars tells remaining toy designers Larry Benson and Irwin Wayfair to develop actual live-action toys capable of "playing back". Mars selects the action figures the Commando Elite for the project and educational toys the Gorgonites for their enemies. After Mars forgoes any safety testing and sets a short production time, Benson uses Irwin's password and chooses GloboTech's overly powerful, X1000 intelligent AI munitions microprocessor integrated circuit to control the toys. Teenager Alan Abernathy signs off for a shipment of the toys at his family's toy store without his father's consent. He and a delivery truck driver named Joe investigate the toys introducing the Gorgonites' leader Archer and the Commando Elite's leader Chip Hazard. The daughter of Alan's next-door neighbor and love interest, Christy Fimple, buys Chip as a birthday present for her brother Timmy. After Archer sneaks to Alan's home in Alan's backpack, Alan realizes that he is a sentient being, but in the meantime, the Commando Elite awaken and apparently destroy the Gorgonites in the toy store. Alan calls the company and fills in a complaint. Later when Larry and Irwin listen to Alan's voice mail, they wonder how Alan got the toys since they were only supposed to be released at a later date, causing Larry to conclude that they are dealing with industrial espionage. Larry tries to ignore the problem until he admits he ordered the AI chips, and he used Irwin's password to get the AI chips. Irwin is terrified to discover that the X1000 were originally designed for military purposes. Larry and Irwin head to the facility that made the munitions chips and learn that the X1000 chips can learn and grow based on their programming and they can also overcome their programming. However, they cannot stand an EMP since the shielding required to protect the chips was not cost effective, which caused the government to shut down the project. Meanwhile, Chip and his squad pursue Alan to his home and attempt to kill him and Archer. Alan is attacked by Nick Nitro, whom he mortally wounds. The next day, Alan and Archer find the rest of the Gorgonites in a dumpster. At home, Alan learns that the primary goal of the Gorgonites is to seek their homeland Gorgon which they mistakenly believe to be Yosemite National Park. The Commando Elite aware of Alan's interest in Christy upon intercepting a phone call occurring between them, invade the Fimples' house, drug Christy's parents with sleeping pills, tie up and gag Timmy and place him in a closet, turn Christy's collection of Gwendy dolls into auxiliaries and wait for Christy. She comes back from a date and is finally captured herself with the dolls, who declare that "it's their turn to play with her." After hearing her scream, her boyfriend runs up to see her being held down by the dolls, tied with ropes, and gagged. Before he can do anything, the Commandos attack him, causing him to run out of the room. Chip asks Christy if she is scared; he states "you'd have to be crazy not to be scared" causing her to look up in dread. They send a video message to Alan, telling him to surrender the Gorgonites or Christy will die. Alan and Archer distract the Commandos and sneak into the Fimple house to save Christy, who warms to Alan for his courage. She is tied to a chair and gagged with duct tape, but Archer frees her. They are then pursued down the street by the Commando Elite in heavily armed kit-bash vehicles, but they are all destroyed during the chase - except Chip who locates Joe's truck full of recalled Commandos. At Alan's house, Irwin and Larry seek out Alan after monitoring his phone call about the dangerous nature of the toys. Stuart punches Larry for the Commando Elite almost killing Alan. Chip attacks the house with more Commandos equipped with large numbers of improvised vehicles and weapons, and a battle breaks out between the Commando Elite and the humans inside. During the battle, the humans learn they can fry the toys' chips with an EMP blast. Alan heads out to destroy a nearby power-line to overload it and create such a pulse; Christy, Irwin and Larry head to the Fimples' house to turn on all of the electronic items inside and wedge the power transformers open to reinforce the pulse. The normally peaceful Gorgonites exit the house and fight back against the Commando Elite. Chip flies to the top of the power-line pole to stop Alan, where he briefly battles and defeats Archer. But just as Chip claims victory, Alan seizes Chip and jams him into the power-line, triggering an EMP blast which kills Chip along with all of the remaining Commando Elite. The next day, while the police and firefighters are cleaning up, Gil arrives in his helicopter. He bribes Joe, the Fimples, and the Abernathys into silence and orders Larry and Irwin to prepare the Commando Elite for military missions in South America. Gil is disappointed that the toys will never be a big hit in the toy stores. Amongst the craziness of the aftermath, Alan and Christy part on highly amicable terms, and Alan later discovers that the Gorgonites have screened themselves from the EMP blast by hiding underneath the Fimples' large satellite dish. The Gorgonites are surprised that they finally won the war against the Commando Elite. The film ends with him accompanying them into Yosemite National Park where he sends them out in a large toy boat from his father's store to find their island home of Gorgon.

Nuclear testing in French Polynesia converts an ordinary lizard into a giant mutant, Godzilla. The creature heads towards NYC destroying ships & drowning fishing fleets along the way. The French secret service interviews the lone surviving fisherman who mumbles the word "Godzilla". Scientist Niko "Nick" Tatopoulous (Matthew Broderick) studies effect of radioactivity in mutations In Chernobyl. Nick studies had shown how the Chernobyl accident changed the DNA of the earthworms in the area and made them 17% larger than they were before. Nick & is asked to help the team in charge of handling the Godzilla phenomenon. Nick then arrives in Panama where Col Hicks (Kevin Dunn) & Elsie (Vicki Lewis), are part of the team. Elsie is from the National Institute of Paleontology. Elsie is Nick's boss for the duration of the assignment. Audrey (Maria Pitillo) is an assistant newscaster in NYC & Nick's old squeeze. She wants a promotion but is not getting one as her boss Charles Caiman (Harry Shearer) keeps stealing all of her good stories and only gives her meaningless research assignments. Nick & team fly to Jamaica & take flesh samples of Godzilla from a boat destroyed by it, which washed up there. Phillipe Roache is French and is in Jamaica and says that he is from the Insurance company. He notices Nick carefully taking samples from the site. Plotting the course of the reptile, Hicks determines that it is headed for the Eastern Seaboard of the USA. Nick theorizes that Godzilla is a hybrid mutated aberration, a fallout from the nuclear tests conducted in French Polynesia. Godzilla arrives in NYC and causes mayhem, but then suddenly disappears somewhere underneath the huge city. Audrey sees Nick arriving in NYC on TV. Lucy (Arabella Field) is Audrey's best friend and Victor (Hank Azaria) is Lucy's husband and also Audrey's cameraman. Victor risks his life and gets Godzilla on film and becomes famous. Hicks arrives at the city and sets up a mobile command center in New Jersey. He asks for a status report, Sgt. O'Neal (Doug Savant) reports that Godzilla has disappeared. A French scientist (posing as an insurance agent) Phillipe Roache (Jean Reno) follows the mayor Ebert (Michael Lerner) & places a microphone on the back of his jacket collar. The mayor then goes to a meeting with Hicks and the crew with Roache and his team listening in. O'Neal and his team figure out that Godzilla is hiding in the tunnels underneath the city. Nick suggests baiting Godzilla out with fish, as that's what is common in every incident with the creature. Godzilla arrives & destroys everything when attacked. The missiles are not able to lock on to Godzilla as it is a cold-blooded creature. Nick takes a blood sample from Godzilla & finds that it is pregnant. Audrey meets Nick when he goes to pick some pregnancy tests & steals secret files & tapes from him. Nick theorizes that Godzilla is in NYC for nesting. Godzilla reproduces asexually. She makes a news report and submits it to her station. But to her horror, Charles steals her report and presents it as her own. Nick realizes that Audrey stole the tapes from him. Nick wants Hicks to help find the nest, but after the airing of Audrey's report, Nick loses all credibility. Nick is fired & Roache picks him up. Victor follows Nick into the French Secret Service mobile HQ. Victor connects with Audrey and informs her about Nick working with the French. Victor convinces Audrey that she should be the one resurrecting Nick's reputation in the world by proving he was right. Roache is part of the French Secret Service, Godzilla was made in the French Polynesia during the nuclear testing. Nick agrees to help Roache find the nest because Hicks doesn't want to find it. Nick helps Roache find Godzilla's nest. Audrey & his cameraman follow Nick into the NYC subway secretly. In NY, Army sets another trap & lures Godzilla & fires. Godzilla dives into the sea where subs attack him & take him down. Nick discovers Godzilla's nest in Madison Square Garden with 200 eggs. The eggs hatch & look for fish to eat & attack the humans. Audrey & cameraman manage to send a TV feed live from the media center of the Madison Square Garden asking the military to attack & destroy the building before the hatch-lings escape. Nick says that each of the hatch-lings is born pregnant and the 200 hatch-lings will convert to 40,000 Godzilla in less than a year. Airforce attacks & destroys the building just after Nick & all move out. Just then Godzilla arrives & is angry. Nick & the survivors get into a cab & run. They lure Godzilla to the Brooklyn bridge & send a message to Air Force to be available to kill Godzilla when it gets tangled in the wires. The plan works and Godzilla is killed. Roache takes all the tapes Audrey made & disappears. One egg survives.

An office manager who looks like the U.S. President is hired to impersonate him. But when the one-night job doesn`t end, he must face the complications of fooling a whole country.

A rookie in the police force must engage in a cat-and-mouse game with a pistol-wielding psychopath who becomes obsessed with her. On her first day on the job, NYPD officer Megan Turner, the lone officer on the scene, shoots and kills the perpetrator of a supermarket hold-up. Since no gun was found on the perpetrator's person or at the scene and none of the witnesses could corroborate Megan's story definitively that the perpetrator was indeed wielding a gun, she is suspended from active duty. She is quickly albeit temporarily reinstated to the position of homicide detective because the spent shell casing from the bullet used in a subsequent murder had her name carved on it. This murder ends up being only the first in a series. Working on the case with fellow homicide detective Nick Mann, Megan initially has no idea who in her life could be the murderer. In short order, the murderer does show himself to her. He is commodities trader Eugene Hunt who she met immediately following her suspension and who she has since dated. He also implies to her that he was in the supermarket at the time of the hold-up and that he fled the scene with the perpetrator's gun. The supermarket shooting caused a psychotic break in him which resulted in among other things his obsession with her. However, beyond his implications only to her of being the murderer, Megan has no hard evidence that would stand up in a court of law that Eugene is indeed the murderer.
