On October 31, 1989, Michael Myers and his niece Jamie Lloyd (Danielle Harris) have been abducted by a mysterious stranger in black at the Haddonfield Police Station. Six years later, teenage Jamie (J. C. Brandy) has been impregnated and her baby is born on Halloween Eve. The baby is taken away by the "Man in Black" who appears to be the leader of a Druid-like cult. Later, a midwife (Susan Swift) helps Jamie escape with her baby and is soon killed by Michael (George P. Wilbur). Jamie and her baby flee in a stolen pickup. Stopping briefly at a deserted bus station, Jamie makes a call to a Haddonfield radio station to warn them that Michael is about to return home, only to be ignored by the radio D.J. Barry Simms (Leo Geter) who is doing a broadcast on the Haddonfield murders. Meanwhile, a frail Dr. Loomis (Donald Pleasence), now retired and recovering from a stroke, is visited by his friend Dr. Terence Wynn (Mitch Ryan), the chief administrator of Smith's Grove Sanitarium where Michael had been incarcerated as a boy, who asks Loomis to return to Smith's Grove. During their conversation they overhear Jamie's plea for help on a local radio station. Later, Jamie drives back on the road followed by Michael, who causes her to crash into an old barn. Michael kills Jamie by impaling her on a corn thresher, but finds that Jamie's baby is not in the truck. Back in Haddonfield, Tommy Doyle (Paul Rudd), whom Laurie Strode babysat in the first film, now lives in a boarding house run by Mrs. Blankenship (Janice Knickrehm), a mysterious old woman. The family living in the Myers house across the street are relatives of the Strode family: Kara Strode (Marianne Hagan), her six-year-old son Danny (Devin Gardner), her teenage brother, Tim (Keith Bogart), caring mother Debra (Kim Darby) and abusive father John (Bradford English). Ever since seeing Michael Myers as a child, Tommy has been obsessed with finding the truth behind his motives. He finds Jamie's baby at the bus station, takes him into his care and names him Stephen. Tommy runs into Dr. Loomis and tells him that the Strode family living in the Myers house. The two believe Michael has returned to Haddonfield. After Dr. Loomis tells her that she is living in Michael's home, Debra calls John to tell him she wants to leave Haddonfield but is killed by Michael. Later, Kara returns home to find Danny in his room with Tommy, whom he had met while on his way home. The three go to the boarding house, where Tommy reveals that he believes Michael has been inflicted with the curse of Thorn by a Druid-inspired cult. Thorn is an ancient Druid symbol that represented a demon that spread sickness and caused destruction. To prevent this, one child from each tribe was chosen to bear the curse of Thorn to offer a blood sacrifice of its next of kin on the night of Samhain (Halloween). When the corresponding Thorn constellation appears, Michael appears. The curse explains why Michael is out to kill his family and also accounts for his superhuman abilities. Tommy believes that Steven will be Michael's final sacrifice. While Tommy goes out to look for Dr. Loomis at a party at the Haddonfield Junior College, Mrs. Blankenship reveals to Kara that she was babysitting Michael the night he killed his sister, and that Danny hears the "voice" (from the "Man in Black") telling him to kill just like Michael did, indicating that Danny also possesses the power of Thorn. Meanwhile, Michael kills John and Tim Strode, Tim's girlfriend Beth (Mariah O'Brien), and Barry Simms. After Tommy returns home with Dr. Loomis, the "Man in Black" finally reveals himself to be Dr. Wynn. The "Cult of Thorn" take Kara, Danny, Steven, and Michael to Smith's Grove. There, Loomis confronts Dr. Wynn who credits Loomis for first recognizing the evil power of Thorn inside Michael, which Wynn wants to control and study, and that Jamie's baby represents the dawn of a new age. Loomis is then knocked unconscious by a staff member. Tommy finds Kara locked in a room in the maximum security ward and frees her. In one of the main hallways, they see Wynn and a team of scientists walk into an operating room to perform an unknown procedure. Tommy and Kara sneak into the adjoining room where they find Danny and Steven. Michael, angry at being exploited by Wynn and his staff, walks into the operating room with a surgical machete and murders them all. Tommy, Kara, and the kids run with Michael in hot pursuit, and hide in a high-tech laboratory. Inside the lab, Kara notices tanks containing human fetuses with a chart of runes and scientific letter codes connected together by the Thorn symbol, suggesting that the cult of scientists have been exploiting the evil power of Thorn for the benefit of medical science. It is implied that they have been trying to clone pure evil using the desired genes that Michael possess by impregnating their female patients to replicate Thorn in its most powerful form. Steven is the result of this experiment tested on Jamie. Michael breaks into the room. Tommy injects him with a corrosive liquid and beats him into unconsciousness with a lead pipe. As Dr. Loomis, Tommy, Kara, Danny, and Steven are about to escape, Loomis tells them to go on without him because he has "a little business" to attend to. Back inside the building, Michael's mask is found lying on the floor of the lab room as the screams of Dr. Loomis can be heard in the background, leaving his fate ambiguous.

Todd Howard (Jason Bateman), the cousin of Scott Howard, has recently been accepted into Hamilton University on a full athletic scholarship on the recommendation of Coach Bobby Finstock (Paul Sand), who was Scott's basketball coach at Beacontown High. Finstock's hope is that Todd has the family genes to become a Werewolf and turn Finstock's new struggling boxing team into championship contenders. Dean Dunn (John Astin) has put Finstock under a lot of pressure to win the upcoming regional boxing championships. Dunn is not happy about Finstock bringing in Todd, as Todd has not achieved anything in the sports arena as of yet. Dean Dunn has promised the alumni that he will give them a winning boxing team and the closest Todd has ever been to sports is in a marching band, playing the clarinet. Uncle Harold Howard (James Hampton) drops Todd off the college and Todd hasn't had his first Wolf-Out yet. Todd is not looking forward to his Wolf-out and feels that the condition embarrasses him. Todd wants to fit in. Harold says sometimes it can skip a generation, so nothing to worry about. Rupert "Stiles" Stilinski (Stuart Fratkin) is Todd's roommate. Stiles was Scott's best friend in high school and knows all about the "family problem". Stiles changes all of Todd's classes and registers him for the classes that have majority of girls in them. Chubby is their dorm mate and the current college boxing champion. The admissions lady (Kathleen Freeman) is rude and doesn't allow changes to classes. But Todd starts to have a Wolf-out with glowing eyes and a deep, throaty voice, and she gets scared and agrees to everything that Todd says. Having never been very good at sports, and because he is more interested in being a veterinarian, Todd is certain that Finstock has the wrong guy. Professor Tanya Brooks (Kim Darby) is Todd's faculty advisor and knows about his situation. Todd has signed up for the science courses in college to achieve his dream. Finstock tells Todd that he is supposed to train for boxing. Todd finally understands that Finstock gave him a sports scholarship (due to his surname and the fact that he coached Scott at his previous high school) as he expects Todd to wolf-out and win the boxing championship for them. Todd is shockingly bad in the boxing ring. Finstock's job is the on the line and he has staked everything on Todd's Wolf-out. Todd meets Nicki (Estee Chandler) in class and befriends her. Todd even asks Nicki out on a date. During a meet and greet reception of school alumni, Todd has his first "Wolf-out" while dancing with a seductive hostess Lisa Goldfluss (Beth Ann Miller). Dean Dunn forced Lisa to dance with Todd, even though Todd was there with Nicki as his date. Todd was getting all Handsy and flirty with Lisa when the Wolf-out occurs. At first, Todd is horrified by his "family affliction", and fellow students begin to harass him (Putting ants under his seat in class, no dogs allowed signs all over the college). Stiles on the other hand wants Todd to take advantage of his tremendous gift. Dean Dunn threatens Todd with expulsion if he loses his first upcoming fight. Brooks and Nicki are very supportive during this phase. Nicki kisses Todd to improve his self-esteem as he believes that everybody thinks he is a dog. Then, during his first boxing match, after nearly getting knocked out, Todd has his second "Wolf-out" only this time he is able to display his supernatural agility and strength and has a dramatic come from behind victory, thus earning the admiration of the students as well as the strict Dean Dunn. With his newfound fame comes girls, top grades and even the dean's car but as the year goes on, Todd realizes that he is losing his friends and self-respect as he ignored his friends and supporters. Todd starts spending with the college heart throb Lisa and ignores Nicki. Chubby (Mark Holton) was the previous boxing favorite before Todd found his abilities and feel lefts out. Steve "Gus" Gustavson is Todd's greatest rival in the ring as the 2 are in different colleges and are heading towards a final's bout for the championship. Nicki tries to tell Todd that they all only love the Wolf, and not Todd. Even Prof Brooks tells Todd that having special powers, brings special responsibilities. Brooks tells Tood that he is failing her class. Todd quickly realizes that the fame goes away once the Wolf thing is too old. And all the friends that he ignored on the way up, now ignore him on the way down. Todd seeks out advice from his uncle, Scott's father, Harold Howard, who helps Todd comes to terms with his responsibilities and prepares him for the championship which he says Todd should out without wolfing out. Todd also reconnects with his girlfriend, Nicki, who helps him regain his focus of being humble. Todd decides to take the final test with Prof Brooks, by studying all night with Nicki. The test was on the same day as the championship match, and just 3 hours before. Todd prioritizes his studies over fame and adulation due to the wolf. Todd passes the test with Brooks and wins her respect. Todd then decides that he will fight his championship match against Steve "Gus" Gustavson (Robert Neary), who Todd had prior issues with, as himself rather than the wolf much to the dismay of all except his uncle, girlfriend and Professor Tanya Brooks. Dean meets Todd in the locker room before the fight and threatens him of revoking his scholarship, if Todd doesn't fight as a wolf. He promises to take care of grade, cars and women, if Todd complies. Brooks, who unbeknownst to Todd is also a werewolf, intimidates Dean Dunn with glowing red eyes, growling, and swaying her tail. After losing round after round, and nearly getting knocked out, Todd is tempted to become the wolf until he sees Nicki mouth the words "I love you" to him. This gives Todd the strength to overcome Gus and knocks him out to a roaring ovation.

High school student Lane Meyer (John Cusack) wakes up on a Saturday morning a few weeks before Christmas for his school's ski team tryouts. Lane is quite obsessed with his girlfriend, Beth (Amanda Wyss). Packing his skies into the family's jalopy station wagon, he picks up Beth and drives to the mountains where the tryouts are being held. Unknown to Lane, Beth is planning to break up with him and date Roy Stalin (Aaron Dozier), the school's best skier, captain of the team and the only person able to ski the resort's infamous K-12, a treacherous run that has injured many other hopefuls. Stalin will judge the trials himself and immediately takes an eye to Beth, allowing her to hold his clipboard. Lane makes his run and finishes within the qualifying time to make the team, however, Stalin doesn't record Lane's time until he's well past the finish line, disqualifying him. Lane his crestfallen but becomes even more so when, on the drive home, Beth drops the news that she's breaking up with him to date Roy. She tells Lane that she needs to date someone more popular. Heartbroken at the thought of their six-month relationship ending, Lane resolves to win Beth back. All of his attempts fail and Lane becomes even more depressed and considers several types of suicide, each one failing as well. Lane also fails to hold down a part-time job flipping hamburgers for one of his father's clients, the cantankerous Rocko (Chuck Mitchell) and is harassed by two Korean brothers, Yee Sook Ree (Yuji OkumotoYuji Okumoto) & Chen Ree (Brian Imada) who persistently challenge him to drag races -- one of them can only speak English like Howard Cosell giving a play-by-play commentary on the action. Lane never wins and often gets into accidents while trying to beat them. Lane is also pestered by his uncouth father (David Ogden Stiers) who wants him to start dating again and also work on a pet project: there is a hulk of a 1968 Camaro under a tarp on the front lawn. His father sets him up with the daughter of his coworker, the obnoxious Joanne Greenwald (Rima Lyn (as Rima Delane)), who makes it clear she doesn't want to date Lane, much less accompany him to a school dance that night. She accepts half of what she perceives the evening will cost them collectively and sends Lane away. At the dance, Lane is finally able to make a connection with Monique Junot (Diane Franklin), a seemingly meek French foreign exchange student staying with the Meyers' neighbors, Ricky Smith (Dan Schneider (as Daniel Schneider)) and his overbearing and obnoxious mother (Laura Waterbury). Ricky becomes jealous and his mother, who believes Monique will be a good match for her son, bundles Monique off in their car. Lane's friend, Charles De Mar (Curtis Armstrong), a drug-obsessed goof-off who has been at their school for seven years as a student, suggests that Lane try to ski the K-12 in order to win Beth back. Lane tries a few times but wipes out. Returning one night from the ski resort, he finds Monique standing in the street hurling oranges at a nearby road sign. She confesses that she's been able to speak English all along, a fact she'd kept hidden from Ricky and his mother so she wouldn't have to speak to him and more easily fend off his advances. However, she reveals she's become frustrated and angry that Ricky and his mother have been so persistent. Lane promises not to tell anyone about her secret and also corrects her pronunciation a few times. The next morning, Lane finds Monique working on his Camaro. Surprisingly she has resurrected the engine but there's still much work to be done. She gets Lane to join her over his objections. The finish the job, the car purrs and runs like a top, and they go out for a cruise. At a red light they find the two Korean guys out with their girlfriends. With much greater confidence, Lane defeats them soundly, the Korean duo unable to even get their car moving. Lane takes Monique out on a date to the burger restaurant he was fired from and treats her to dinner. He also woos her by playing the saxophone, an instrument he'd given up some time ago. Monique is impressed and they finally hit it off. In the school cafeteria the next day, Roy harasses Lane, even making nasty suggestions about Monique. Monique shakes a soda can and sprays Roy with it, prompting Roy to refer to her as a "frog." Lane stands up to Roy and challenges him and the two agree to meet at the K-12 that weekend for a showdown. Though Lane suggests they keep the contest between them, the whole school is informed a few moments later when it's announced over the PA system. At the mountain, Monique coaches Lane in skiing the slope. Lane crashes and tumbles but still remains confident because of Monique. They are met by Charles who reminds him that the whole town has turned out for the match. As Charles leaves, he breaks part of the boot harness on Lane's ski. As he's trying to fix it, Lane is met by a persistent paperboy (Demian SladeDemian Slade) who has been harassing Lane for the $2 his family owes for their subscription. The boy chases Lane on his snow-outfitted BMX bike to the top of the K-12 where Stalin is waiting. Out of pure terror, Lane begins his run down K-12, keeping his balance on one ski. Stalin starts his own run as well. As they both zip down the slope, Stalin eventually knocks the paperboy over a cliff, where he plummets and lands safely but dazed. Lane and Stalin continue their race to the finish line where Lane wins. The town crowds around him and Beth embraces him briefly before Lane sees Monique being dragged away by Ricky and his mother. When one of the Korean brothers asks him -- like Howard Cosell -- how he was able to pull off such a daring comeback. Lane says "Language lessons!" and runs after Monique. When Lane catches up to Monique, Ricky challenges him to a fencing match with ski poles. Lane defeats Ricky, throwing him onto his mother. He slings Monique over his shoulder and they run off. Ricky composes himself and is instantly smitten with a young, geeky girl who helps him to his feet. He walks off over the protests of his mother. The final scene of the movie shows Lane and Monique making out on his Camaro while it's parked on the pitcher's mound at Dodger Stadium. A single paperboy on a bike is seen riding toward them.

Henry Winkler portrays an outrageously self-confident but out-of-work actor, a young man who dreams of stardom and leaves college to pursue fame and fortune. In 1951, Andy Schmidt is in his last year of college. Taking life easy, always with a saucy joke on his lips, he manages to win fellow student Mary's heart, although she's already otherwise engaged. But getting a job after college turns out to be much harder than he expected. Most directors take offense at his free interpretation of his roles. Young tomboy Mattie Ross (Kim Darby) loves her father. But when this father gets killed by a tramp called Tom Chaney (Jeff Corey), she is determined to see him hang. She goes to Fort Smith and discovers that Tom Chaney has fled in the Indian territory, where only a marshall can get him. A marshall who has true grit, in order to vanquish not only Chaney, but also the group of outlaws he has connected with, led by the notorious bandit Ned Pepper (Robert Duvall) and including Moon (Dennis Hopper) and Quincy (Jeremy Slate). So Mattie finds the toughest marshall of the West : the one-eyed Reuben J. "Rooster" Cogburn (John Wayne), who's never known a dry day in his life, and hires him - with $100 - to go after Chaney and Pepper. Rooster soon pairs with young Texican La Boeuf (Glen Campbell) who also looks for Chaney as he had killed a Texas-senator before murdering Mattie's father. Mattie and La Boeuf are soon at odds, as the latest doesn't want her to join the chase, but Mattie hangs on and Rooster lets her come with them. Strong-headed Mattie, fast talking La Boeuf and sharp Rooster engage themselves in a battle of wits and, at the same time, on Chaney's tracks. After an ambush where Moon and Quincy are killed, Mattie gets face to face with Chaney and wounds him before being kidnapped by Ned Pepper. Ned forces Rooster and La Boeuf to withdraw and leaves Mattie with Chaney as a hostage. But La Boeuf comes back and captures Chaney. Mattie and La Boeuf witness the last fight between Ned Pepper and three of his men on one side, Rooster all alone on the other. They all charge on their horses and Rooster kills three men and injures Pepper before his horse (Bo) is killed under him. He desperately tries to get his gun as the dying Ned comes closer. At the very last moment, La Boeuf fires from the hill he stands on with Mattie and shoots Ned before Rooster gets killed. Chaney then escapes and hits La Boeuf on the head with a big stone, only to get shot again by Mattie. With the gunfire, she falls in a pit where a deadly snake threatens her. Rooster arrives at that moment, kills Chaney who was still trying to hurt Mattie and goes down the pit to save Mattie. The snake bites her and Rooster's unable to go up the pit with the unconscious Mattie. La Boeuf wakes up just a little while to pull them out with a horse and a rope, before falling dead. Rooster leaves him on the field and kills his horse under him to bring Mattie to a doctor. At the end of the movie, Mattie is back to her ranch where she heals slowly. Rooster comes and visits her. She shows him the cemetery where her father rests and she offers him, as he has no family, to rest beside her after his death. He takes on the offer with a joke and departs, jumping over a fence and yelling: "Come and see a fat old man sometime!"
