Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay`s famous tale of 3 generations of women and their changing position in society, seen in relation to a box of jewels, handed down from one generation to the next. Moushumi Chatterjee, Konkona Sen Sharma, Srabanti Biswas, Saswata Chatterjee star in this Bengali drama, directed by Aparna Sen and produced under the Shree Venkatesh Films banner.

Maanav is a struggling filmmaker who does not want to compromise on his script. His girlfriend Ruchi is a successful film editor who arranges for him to meet Nitin, a producer. Nitin likes the script but is not very sure of its box office potential. Maanav then suggests a story from the Panchtantra: A woman is caught red-handed with her lover by her husband and yet, she manages to wriggle out of it scot-free! Nitin loves the story but finds it too short for a feature film. Maanav then creates three more stories based on the same premise: in a way, the Panchantra story travels in different versions to the modern times through the film. The four stories are woven together by a common story. Mirch itself echoes this structure, with four stories mingling with the main narrative.

Thomas tries to solve the mystery of the Little Green Engine at the Blue Mountain Quary. When the Fat Controller sends Thomas to work at the Blue Mountain Quarry, Thomas spots an engine he has never seen before trying to hide. Determined to get to the bottom of the mystery, Thomas tracks down and befriends Luke, who tells Thomas he is hiding because he did something so bad, he could be sent away from the Island of Sodor forever. Thomas does not believe this and sets off on a journey to discover the truth behind the story of the poor runaway engine. On the way, he learns of engines brought to Sodor from faraway lands and of an accident at Brendam Docks where an engine fell into the sea. But only when he has learned every piece of the story, can Thomas convince his new friend that there is no reason to hide. When trouble strikes at the Blue Mountain Quarry, Thomas is sent to help his Narrow Gauge engine friends. While shunting and hauling, he catches a glimpse of a small engine trying to hide, yet no one will provide any clues to the engine's identity. Thomas is determined to get to the bottom of the mystery but discovering the truth is harder than he imagined!

But Titli`s mother herself is still mesmerized by Rohit and is heart broken when she reads the news about Rohit`s marriage. However,tables have turned,Titli has overcome her crushes and is now the one who consoles her mother.
