Frustrated with the advices of life, boredom brings the two together and then begins the journey of the two.

`Chashme Baddoor` is a remake of the 1981 comedy starring Farooq Sheikh and Deepti Naval. Sid (Ali Zafar), Jai (Siddharth) and Omi (Divyendu Sharma) live together in a small house in Goa. Large on life, wants and everything else, the only thing that seems to keep Omi and Jai going are the women in Goa. Sid, on the other hand, lives a straight and normal life. The two womanizing slackers now attempt to woo the new girl Neha (Taapsee Pannu).

Years later both daughters have grown up and are of marriageable age. Anu has fallen in love Danny Grover, and both are expected to marry soon. However, quite unexpectedly Danny dumps Anu for another girl, leaving her devastated and heart-broken. She travels to Bombay, India, meets a young man, Aman Mehra, from Lokhandwala Complex, Andheri West, and when she hears that Shirani is getting married to a Guju, Kunal Shah, returns home along with Aman. Arjun couldn't be happier as he is now able to see both his daughters along with their respective beaus. Indraneel assists her, takes her home, finds out that she is pregnant, helps her give birth, agrees to take care of the child, Gungun, and thereafter Maya leaves, never to return. Years later, Gungun has grown up, attends school, and believes that Indraneel is her dad. Then their world is changed upside down when Maya's dad, Dayanath Trivedi, arrives from London, Britain, to take custody of his grandchild, if necessary through the courts. Indraneel refuses to part with Gungun, and as a result a case is filed in Court. The Judge initially hears this case, finds Indraneel incompetent to be a responsible father and tentatively puts Gungun in the Court's custody. The movie Vanity Fair (2004) is based on one of the most beloved of all 19th century novels, by the same name, written by William Makepiece Thackeray, a contemporary and friend of Charles Dickens. The movie opens by introducing our two heroines, Rebecca Sharp and Amelia Sedley, who are the best of friends. The girls are about to graduate from an Academy for Young Ladies. Amelia, who comes from a rich family, is a kind and innocent person loved by her classmates and "sucked up to" by her teachers. (I think I just sensed Thackeray rolling over in his grave by my use of slang!) Backy is a poor orphan, who has only been allowed to stay at the school as an unpaid teacher of the French language. She is not called "Sharp" by accident. She has no friends except Amelia, and couldn't care less. Before Becky starts to look for work as a governess, she has been invited to stay for a while at the Sedley home. Here she meets 2 young men; one, Amelia's brother, Josiah is a figure of fun---he is home on a visit from India where he works as an administrator; the other, George is Amelia's fiancee. George has many faults; he is a dreadful snob, he is bored by Amelia and fails to appreciate her love (the two have been engaged since childhood.); he gambles recklessly with his father's money and in fact has been encouraged by dear old Dad to do anything that will raise him above his shameful background in "trade. "The 4 young people make up a party to go to a sort of pleasure garden. Becky sets her cap for Jos, and probably could have snatched him up, but George sneers to Jos that it would be dreadful for him(George) to have to tolerate having a lowly governess for a sister-in-law. Both men are very conscious of the opinion of the chaps at the club. So Becky's first try at entering society fails. George's father has bought him a commission in a military regiment. Pinjar tells the story of Puro, a young woman of Hindu background, living a lovely life circling the time of the partition of 1947 with her family. Puro is betrothed to a wealthy, sweet young man, Ramchand, from a promising family. Puro's bliss is shattered one day as a leisurely trip with Rajjo, her younger sister, turns traumatic as she is kidnapped by a mysterious Muslim man, Rashid. Rashid's family has an ancestral dispute with Puro's family. Puro's family had made Rashid's homeless by taking over their property. Puro's grand-uncle had even kidnapped Rashid's grand-aunt and then released her after defiling her. Rashid's family made him swear that he would kidnap Puro to settle the score. It is clear that Rashid is drawn to Puro and would do anything for her. One night, Puro manages to escape back to her parents. Her parents woefully turn away their daughter, explaining that if Puro were to stay, Rashid's extended Muslim clan would arrive and slaughter everyone. Left with no support, Puro returns to Rashid who is well-aware of Puro's escape; he knew she wouldn't be let in by her parents and had been waiting for her nearby. After a few months, Puro's family marries their son Trilok to Ramchand's younger sister, Lajjo. Rajjo is married off to Ramchand's cousin. Parallel to the celebrations of the new marriage is a celebration of Rashid: Puro is pregnant. Puro is greatly depressed as she has conceived from rape. She miscarries but learns somewhat of Rashid's love for her and his repentance for his evil deed. The British colonialists leave India and the subcontinent reels under the effects of partition. Ramchand's uncle, cousin and Rajjo leave for India and are safe. Ramchand, his parents and Lajjo are caught in the riots. Ramchand hurriedly leaves to India with his younger sister and mother; his father is already missing. Shortly after, Lajjo is kidnapped by thugs. Puro meets Ramchand, who woefully tells her of Lajjo's situation. Puro finds Lajjo and helps her escape with Rashid's assistance. They conduct Lajjo to Lahore where Trilok and Ramchand come to receive her. Trilok has a tearful reunion with Puro and explains to her that she can start life anew as Ramchand is ready to accept her even now. Puro surprises Trilok by refusing and saying she is where she belongs. Ramchand responds with tremendous empathy to Puro, as he sees that she has accepted Rashid. Rashid slowly tries to fade, making it easy for Puro to leave with her folk, but is heartbroken, as he is deeply in love with her. However, Puro seeks Rashid out and the two tearfully bid Ramchand, Trilok, and Lajjo farewell forever.

Amongst the communal riots that erupt in the city, Tara shelters a wayward Sakina from a crazed mob. The two eventually get married and have a son. However, things change when Sakina`s father forces her to stay in Pakistan, forget about her family and start a new life. Tara crosses the border into Pakistan to find Sakina.

A 2001 film, directed by Shyam Benegal, is a story written about the ill fate of the actress Zubeida Begum by her own son Khalid Mohammed. This is a story of a son`s attempt to understand his mother, Zubeidaa. It basically portrays the life of Zubeiga begum and the choices she made.
