Penny Morris and Tommy Williams are both starstruck young teens but nobody seems to give them any chance to perform. Instead, they decide to put up their own show to collect money for a summer camp for the kids. Tommy Williams desperately wants to get to Broadway, but as he is only singing in a spaghetti house for tips he is a long way off. He meets Penny Morris, herself no mean singer, and through her gets the idea to promote a show to send orphaned children on a country holiday. But he is only using the kids to get on himself, which Penny soon realises. An American jazzman and his buddy woo a Russian princess and a fake countess in Paris. Football player John Kent tags along as Huck Haines and the Wabash Indianians travel to an engagement in Paris, only to lose it immediately. John and company visit his aunt, owner of a posh fashion house run by her assistant, Stephanie. There they meet the singer Scharwenka (alias Huck's old friend Lizzie), who gets the band a job. However, there is a misunderstanding and the owner Alexander Petrovitch Moskovich Voyda expects the arrival of an Indian band and he calls off their contract with Haines. Haines and the band head to Paris, and his friend John Kent decides to visit his Aunt Minnie, who owns the fashion house Roberta, to use her influence to find a work for the band. John meets the manager Stephanie and they immediately feel attracted to each other. Huck Haines meets in the Roberta's salon his old friend Liz with the artistic identity of Comtesse Scharwenka and she helps him to get a job with Voyda. When Aunt Minnie passes away, John Kent is the heir of her fortune and also Roberta. However he decides to give the fashion house for Stephanie, but she proposes a partnership between them two. But when John's old passion, the gold digger Sophie Teale seeks out John, the infatuated Stephanie decides to leave the business and travel abroad with the Russian Prince Ladislaw. —Claudio Carvalho, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil John Kent, visiting Paris with his bandleader friend, Huck Haines, suddenly inherits his aunt's fashionable dress shop in the city. But, jealousy and misunderstandings prevent Mary and Guilio from acknowledging their true feelings. —Kelly Despite losing a radio opera singing competition - the winner to train under renowned Milan-based vocal coach Guilio Monteverdi - Mary Barrett decides to move to Milan anyway to pursue her dream of an operatic career. By happenstance, Monteverdi hears Mary sing and does take her under his tutelage. He insists that she live with him solely as his singing protégé. He states that there is no romantic innuendo intended in his offer. Theirs is a rocky relationship. He is a stern teacher and disciplinarian, but under his methods, she does become a great operatic singer, however one that still does require his support and guidance. Despite their initial proclamations to the contrary and Mary's relationship with Bill Houston, Mary and Monteverdi do fall in love. However, Monteverdi's disgruntled ex-student and ex-lover, Lally, will do whatever she needs to break them up, both professionally and personally. —Huggo

A man known to be a mute is suspected of committing a murder, as he was noticed at the scene. However, witnesses saw and heard him talking as he was leaving the scene of the crime. The police must determine if he is the actual killer or if he is being framed.
