A depressed dentist in mid life crisis tries to learn why one of his happiest patients suddenly commits suicide, and a dark comedic adventure ensues. Phil (Greg Kinnear) is a middle-aged, divorced dentist who's mildly depressed. One day Michael Fisk (Bradley Whitford), a published author, comes in to get some last minute dental work on referral from another dentist. Lonely, and drawn to Michael for his proactive view of life, as he's enthused about the success his book is having, his college-aged daughter Molly (Megan Charpentier) is coming home soon. Phil coincides with him and his family in a local restaurant. Afterwards he follows them home. One day, after Michael warmly kisses his wife, Phil follows him in his car. After he parks along a quiet country road, he walks into the woods. Phil follows, but to his shock he finds Michael hanging by his neck. Shaken up, he takes the shoes Michael had weirdly taken off beforehand. After the funeral, Phil goes to the grave distraught, drunk, and falls asleep on the mound amidst a heavy rainstorm. The next morning, Michael's wife Alicia (Emily Mortimer) finds him there, soaked to the skin. As she calls 911, he tells her his name is 'Spyros,' which causes her to believe he's his old friend from Greece. Alicia takes 'Spyros' home to get warmed up. She tells him about a bathroom project Michael had left unfinished, and without thinking, he volunteers to help. Meanwhile, his dentist receptionist leaves him a string of frantic messages, which are left unanswered. Michael's father-in-law (Robert Forster) comes by and doesn't realize Phil's not the real Spyros. In town, Phil runs into his brother Malcolm (Jay Duplass), and explains he will later explain what's going on. After many, many attempts, he figures out his computer password. Seeing pictures of Michael with Samantha (Taylor Schilling) on the computer, when Alicia is called in to clear out her husband's university office, Phil offers to tag along. Sam is rather odd with Alicia, explaining she hadn't gone to the funeral because of a work commitment. Alicia later tells him that she'd gotten a position over him because he'd turned it down. Police Detective Welling (Luke Wilson) stops by to tell Alicia that they are investigating Michael's suicide, noticing only two anomalies, his missing shoes and a possible stalker, both of which are Phil. That night, she calls 'Spyros' to meet, and talks him into trying to dance with a group of Greeks. Malcolm is there when Phil gets home, and he tries to get him to realize that what Alicia needs is closure. Shortly thereafter 'Styros' presents her with her finished bathroom. Phil is able to apologize to his daughter Mand finally offer her genuine support. Alicia asks 'Styros' to accompany her and her daughter at a university event, and a higher up, who doesn't trust him, tries to out him. Phil skillfully tells the truth about meeting at the dentist's and spying on him without saying it was his own practice in town. Then Samantha shows up, pregnant and wearing half of a set of pendants like Michael had bought. The tiles start falling off as Alicia takes her first shower, and the water pressure goes wacky. Just as 'Spyros' is arriving to help, Detective Welling has arrived to tell her they discovered who had been the 'peeping Tom.' When questioned by the officer, he explained he needed to know why someone who seemed to have a perfect life could end it. Alicia has placed a restraining order on him, he returns to his abandoned office and finds his loyal receptionist quit on him. Alicia confronts him to show him the theory of Michael's affair was wrong as Samantha is a lesbian. Phil again goes to the bridge's edge, accidentally falls in and fights against dying. Malcolm visits him in the hospital and he tells he's no longer depressed. Waking suddenly one night, Phil remembers Michael's shoes. He delivers the note inside to Alicia. We only see the words "sorry" and "my love." We never discover what was on it, but she starts playing the cello again and stops wearing her wedding ring. Phil eventually revamps his dental practice, and improves his relationship with Molly. Alicia shows she's made peace by returning a cap she'd given 'Styros.'

Cassie and Sean, as well as ex-boyfriend Matt and good friend Annabel, go to a nightclub situated in an old church with religious beliefs for Cassie. There, Cassie sees Deathmask , a man wearing a clear, plastic mask; and Hideous Dancer , an imposing man with a scarred face. Deathmask tries to grab her on the dance floor, but she pushes him away and steps outside the club with Sean. In the parking lot, Matt eavesdrops on their conversation. Sean confesses his love for Cassie, who claims she feels the same way. When Sean returns to the club, Matt convinces Cassie to give him a last 'goodbye' kiss. Sean sees this, and reacts badly to it, giving Cassie the silent treatment as they drive off. Cassie, who is behind the wheel, continually looks away from the road until the car crashes. Cassie's next memory is of being rushed to the hospital; Matt and Annabel are unharmed, but Sean has been killed on impact. During the school term that follows, Cassie has several visions (in bed) of Sean. She also has visions of Deathmask and Hideous Dancer in the company of Matt and Annabel. On several occasions, she believes she is being chased by the two men, although Annabel and Matt assure her that the incidents are all in her mind. After one chase, Cassie faints and is rescued by Father Jude, a young priest who is sympathetic to her fears and offers to listen if she ever needs someone to talk to. A few nights later, after being chased again, Cassie knocks at the church door, and Father Jude gives her sanctuary. He gives her an amulet depicting St Jude and allows her to sleep in his small room in the church. Upon awakening that morning, Cassie sees that the calendar in the room reads 1981. She enters the office of the attending priest and asks to speak to Father Jude but is told that Father Jude died in 1981. After being made to participate in a swim competition, Cassie is chased by Deathmask. Defending herself with the tube of a fluorescent lamp, she ends up stabbing him in the stomach, but when Cassie returns with Matt, they find there is no body in the pool. Even though she believes that Matt and Annabel are conspiring against her with Deathmask and Hideous Dancer, Cassie requests that Matt take her home to her mother. Instead, he drives Cassie to the club, saying that he wishes to pick up Annabel. Cassie follows him but gets lost, eventually finding Annabel with a new lover, Raven . When Raven tells Cassie to "leave or die", Cassie exits the club and makes her way back to the parking lot. There, Matt drunkenly insists on another "goodbye forever" kiss, but Cassie smashes a bottle on his head, knocking him unconscious, before pushing him from the car and driving away. She then arrives at the site of the accident, witnessing Annabel dying from it. After then being run over by a car, Father Jude approaches her, offering assistance; after taking it, she comes to in the hospital. On a gurney next to her is Raven, who speaks a few words of comfort before dying. Father Jude arrives and explains everything she has experienced has been a sort of coma dream - in the original accident, Cassie and Sean had survived, while Matt and Annabel were killed. The occupants of the other car - Raven, Deathmask, and Hideous Dancer - were also fatally injured. Cassie has spent the course of the film in an astral state, wherein those who were killed in the accident attempt to keep her with them. Father Jude - who is an angel from heaven - and her visions of Sean were what kept Cassie alive. He then asks if she would be willing to die in order to save Sean's life. She agrees, and he then asks her if she would be willing to live for him. Cassie says that she doesn't want to die. She then awakes in a hospital room with her parents and Sean by her side; they embrace. She then marries the good guy in a future wedding. There is an alternate ending where Cassie wakes in bed with Sean beside her. She gasps and grabs her neck and chest. Sean says "That dream again?" and she nods.

The plot of "Committed" is centered around the story of an intense young woman, played by Graham, whose husband leaves her in order to find himself. Jewel thief Miles Logan (Martin Lawrence) participates in a $17 million diamond heist in Los Angeles. He does this along with his crew of accomplices: his right hand and best friend Eddie (John Hawkes), his getaway driver Tulley (Dave Chappelle), and Deacon (Peter Greene), who is the newly acquired member of the group. Miles successfully steals the diamond, but Deacon turns on them, killing Eddie by shooting him off of a tall building and causing him to fall onto a police car, before attempting to take the stone from Miles. As the police arrive, Miles hides the diamond in the ducts of a building under construction (he was in the under construction building as part of their escape plan, which had a rope connected from the top of their target building to the roof of the under construction one); as Deacon flees, Miles is arrested. Upon his release from prison two years later, Miles attempts to reunite with his girlfriend Janiece (Tamala Jones). She breaks it off for Miles lying about being a criminal, which prompts him to retrieve the diamond. Finding the building where he hid the diamond is now an LAPD police station, he goes inside, discovering the diamond is hidden in the ducts of what is now the Robbery/Homicide detective bureau, which requires a key card to access. Miles returns disguised as a pizza deliveryman, steals an access card and visits his forger Uncle Lou (Richard C. Sarafian). The fake badge and transfer papers allow Miles to enter the station, posing as newly transferred police detective Malone. While trying to access the ducts, he inadvertently foils a prisoner escape (Miles was trying to get into the AC duct via the women's bathroom and the prisoner had come in to hide there) and is teamed up with newly appointed Detective Carlson (Luke Wilson). What is supposed to be a quick in and out mission to retrieve the diamond ends up turning into a prolonged endeavor as Miles gets sent out on calls. His knowledge on criminal activity and ability to foil crimes makes him quite popular among his "peers," even getting promoted to detective in charge of the Robbery/Homicide division. He and Carlson are first sent on a burglary call, where Miles quickly solves it as fraud perpetrated by the owner. The owner is a car dealer who claims that $5000 worth of rims have been stolen, but Miles correctly figures that the owner had stolen the rims for insurance claims as their value had dropped on the streets. On the ride back, they stumble upon an armed robbery being committed by Tulley at a grocery store. Miles intervenes, arresting him before he's shot, but Tulley demands $50,000 to keep quiet about who Miles really is (Miles counters with $20,000 and a single night in jail, which Tulley accepts). Miles makes another attempt to locate the diamond (he gets into the vent but finds that the diamond is not at the place where he attached it to the vent wall with a duct tape. He finds that the whole vent was flushed due to a leaking issue and Miles has to search the entire floor to finally locate the diamond inside the vent), but is interrupted by Carlson, who has discovered Miles is not who he claims to be. Convincing Carlson that he is from Internal Affairs, Miles tries to get back to searching for the diamond, but they are sent out on another call. The airport reports a theft of museum artifacts, but Malone knows correctly that this was a drug heist, and the big boys got the drugs out before it hit customs. He knows that the drugs would be in a bonded truck (with a letter B printed on it), as bonded trucks can get into bonded warehouses. Carlson calls in air support to locate the truck, and They capture a truckload of heroin. Afterwards, Miles retrieves the diamond from the AC vent in the evidence locker and finally has it, but accidentally drops it into the load of heroin they seized. The FBI demands the heroin for testing. Meanwhile Deacon tracks Miles down through Lou. A panicked Miles suggests the FBI and his cop's unit use the heroin as bait in a sting. The plan is to deliver the drugs at the destination and wait for the owner of the drugs to appear, so he can be arrested. Malone arranges to be with the heroin in the delivery truck but is soon joined by Tulley (whom he had set free from holding and he got inside the drug delivery truck without being noticed) and Deacon (who had been tracking Miles outside the station); during the drug deal, Deacon exposes Miles as a cop to the drug runners. Deacon had already taken possession of the diamond inside the truck, when Miles had gone in to retrieve the diamond from the drugs pallet. While Miles and Tulley attempt to distract them, the police and FBI raid the deal. Miles saves Carlson from being shot down. Deacon escapes with the diamond in an armored truck and the police and FBI follow as he approaches the border to Mexico. The police and FBI are forced to halt their pursuit at the border, but Miles steals a patrol car and chases Deacon. Miles forces him to wreck the truck and offers him a deal: Deacon gives Miles the diamond and allows him to arrest him in exchange for Miles taking him back to the US and cutting him back in on the diamond. He agrees, and Miles immediately double-crosses him by handcuffing him to the wrecked truck for the Federales and begins to walk back to the border. Deacon draws a gun to shoot him but Miles turns and shoots him dead, avenging the death of Eddie. Miles walks back to the border where both the FBI and police demand explanations; he tells them he is an undercover Mexican officer and has to report back to his fellow Federales. A few inches over the border, Carlson and Hardcastle (William Forsythe) stop him, revealing they know who he really is, but do not arrest him as they are grateful for all of his help and see him as a friend. They also say the FBI can't reach him over international borders, as he is a few inches over the border. After they share a bittersweet goodbye, Miles heads off to Mexico with the diamond.

Pregnant Sally unknowingly falls for the stepson of the deceased father of her baby and has to deal with his homicidal family. Hamburger joint waitress Sally Jackson is pregnant. When Beatrice, the wife of the father, finds out about his infidelity, she sends her sons from a previous marriage, military pilots Angus and Dorian Montier, to scare the living daylights out of him. Their gunship does such a good job, without hitting him, that he dies from a heart attack. Worrying about radio interference that night, they investigate who might have heard too much within the fairly empty reception perimeter, and soon discover only Sally could, still ignorant about her affair with his step-dad Henry. Dorian takes a job there to be sure, but soon falls for her himself, while mother-obsessed moron Angus would do anything to anyone for her honor... —KGF Vissers

Three friends plan to pull off a simple robbery and go on the run. Upon his release from a mental hospital following a nervous breakdown, the directionless Anthony joins his friend Dignan, who seems far less sane than the former. Dignan has hatched a hare-brained scheme for an as-yet-unspecified crime spree that somehow involves his former boss, the (supposedly) legendary Mr. Henry. With the help of their pathetic neighbor and pal Bob, Anthony and Dignan pull a job and hit the road, where Anthony finds love with motel maid Inez.
