A talented musician, Sundaram, in need of money makes a deal with his lookalike Ranjith Kumar, a wealthy diamond businessman, who offers him money on the condition of swapping their identities.

When Ratnapuri's king passes away without naming a successor, the imperial council of the kingdom unanimously vote for Marthandan to be their next ruler. At last, Sivaji loses his vision after he is struck by a lightning and begs for forgiveness from M.G.R's wife. M.G.R is released from jail and unites with his family.
