Jeet then rename himself Raja only to meet and fall in love with Manpreet Kaur alias Mini. Bablu is shocked and in disbelief, and baffled because the police keep on refering to him as "Manu". At the intervention of his mom, along with identification papers and photographs, Bablu is released and provided with an identity card so that the police know he is not Manu. Manu, who is the exact look-alike of Bablu, comes to know of this, and takes away Bablu's id. card, and takes on the identity of Bablu, leaving the hapless Bablu to be arrested again by the police. Sweety (Mayuri Kango) lives with her mother Vinita (Navni Parihar), maternal grandmother Shobhna (Suhas Joshi) and Grandfather Taraknath Gandhi (Tiku Talsania). She is very rebellious, emotional and high-strung, and does not get along well with her classmates in school (She picks fights when her classmates call her an illegal child). All she knows is that she is not permitted to talk about her dad at home (Taraknath says her dad eloped with her mom, and never even came to her birth). Taraknath does not like Vinita, as she always confronts him saying that Taraknath never informed Sweety's dad that Vinita was pregnant. Taraknath consults an astrologer Rustom (Dinesh Hingoo), who says all issues will get sorted if he brings Sweety's dad back. Tarak is angry and arranges a match for Sweety. Vinita breaks ranks and tells Sweety that she met her father in the Seychelles. She got married, but she was a minor and Taraknath threatened to inform the police. Tarak got her a divorce and got Vinita back. Sweety's dad never knew her address and hence never came looking. Sweety runs away to Seychelles on the day of the engagement. When she gets to the Seychelles, she can't find her dad, whom she has been so anxious to meet. At the airport Rohit Dixit (Jugal Hansraj) has come to receive Swati Anand on behalf of a hotel guest Mr Kishan. When Sweety is questioned by customs about her purpose in Seychelles, and she isn't able to explain anything, she points to Rohit and says she knows him. She tells Rohit that she is Swati (nickname Sweety) and goes with him to the hotel. She convinces Rohit that she is Kishan's daughter and Rohit gives her the keys to Kishan's room. Sweety is lucky as Kishan is out of Seychelles himself with Swati (a woman he is dating) and they both plan to return together in a few days. One link (given by Vinita) is the death of marine archaeologist, Mr. Kantibhai, who only knows where her dad is. Sweety fakes loving Rohit, so he can take her around Seychelles and then she can meet Kantibhai. Coincidentally, her dad Kishan Khanna/Anand (Anupam Kher) is in the same hotel which she is in. He is living with another woman, Swati Sinha/Anand (Soni Razdan), who had divorced another male. Kishan is not at all thrilled to have a teenage daughter (To avoid being kicked out Sweety says publicly that she is Kishan's daughter, and he is refusing to acknowledge her due to the divorce with her mother) come and interrupt his life and affairs. Swati leaves Kishan when she finds that he has a teenage daughter. Kishan can't get rid of her as Sweety is crying bloody murder. But when the police come, Kishan has a change of heart and allows Sweety to stay. Mr. Anand and Sweety have developed a father-daughter relationship, unaware to the fact that they are related. Kishan still misses Vinita and carries her photo in his wallet. Swati is staying in the same hotel, but a different room. Rohit doesn't have enough money to take Sweety around, as moving islands in Seychelles needs a helicopter. So, he gambles in the casino and wins big. They reach Kantibhai's house and find it empty. Seems Kantibhai has died. Sweety is distraught. When she returns, Kishan is upset with her for leaving without telling him. He wants Sweety to leave and she gives him a lecture how he is a coward and will die alone and he keeps pushing people away. The next morning, they reconcile, and Kishan promises to help her find her real father. Rohit is upset that Sweety lied to him, and that Kishan is not her real father as she claimed. She again makes a story and says Kishan is her stepdad and she is here to get his signatures on divorce papers for her mom. When Rohit confronts Kishan, Sweety and upset and tells Rohit that she only used him and was never in love with him. Swati tells Sweety that she is making a mistake and gets her to apologize to Rohit. Sweety is now in love with Rohit. Krishna is convinced by Swati that Rohit is the right match for Sweety. Krishna helps Sweety and Rohit get back together. Meanwhile Tarak finds out that Sweety is in Seychelles. Swati meanwhile wants to go back to her ex-husband and Kishan agrees. Just as Rohit gets back with Sweety, Tarak arrives and takes Sweety away to Bombay. Kishan takes Rohit with him and follows Sweety to Bombay. Kishan meets Vinita and realizes that Sweety is his daughter. Tarak intervenes and gets Kishan arrested. Only when Sweety agrees to his every wish, does Tarak take back the police complaint and releases Kishan and Rohit. Tarak organizes Sweety's wedding. Kishan responds by getting Sweety drunk by inserting alcohol in her chocolates, which Rohit gifts to her. Sweety misbehaves at the wedding while being drunk and the wedding party leaves in disgust. Now Kishan intervenes and confronts Tarak. He makes Tarak understand that as a father he is allowed to fear, but that does not give him to right to make humans bend to his will. Tarak's entire family turns against him and supports Kishan. Tarak has to agree to allow Sweety to marry Rohit.

Roshni lives with Sharda and her mother (Kamini Kaushal). Roshni wants to know about her dad, but Sharda would always scold her when she asked about her father, and where he is, or what he looked like. Sharda refuses to answer any questions regarding Roshni's father. After Sharda learns she has cancer, she asks her family friend Ahuja (Anang Desai) to take Roshni to Mumbai, so that she learns to live without her and be independent. Roshni is introduced to Rahul Malhotra (Rahul Roy), and they share a mutual attraction. Rahul is a businessman and trades in export / import items. He frequently travels overseas as well. When Rahul learns that she is an aspiring singer, he assists in her career. Rahul gets her an audition with HMV, and as a result her first song is also recorded. Soon, Roshni becomes a major singing sensation. She has a devoted fan named Jagannath, alias Jaggu (Sanjay Dutt), who is a petty thief. Pakya (Laxmikant Berde) works with Jaggu. Jaggu has been following Roshni's career for 2 years now. Jaggu earns good money by selling Roshni's concert tickets in black and follows her all over the country. Sometimes, he even gets on stage to garland her with money. Jaggu is in love with Roshni, but she rejects him. Roshni tells Jaggu that she has a certain lifestyle, and he is only a petty thief. Jaggu promises to earn enough money to be able to afford all the luxuries that Roshni wants in life. Jaggu robs a bank and buys everything on the list (a mansion, an expensive car, lots of dresses and jewelry and so on). Jaggu is eventually arrested for his crimes by Inspector (Mushtaq Khan). But eventually, Jaggu escapes custody. Roshni's mother reveals on her deathbed that Roshni's father Prakash is alive. Prakash had come from Mauritius to do business in India. They met a club and soon got married. Prakash went to Delhi for some official work. He was forced to abandon his family over a government level criminal accusation. Prakash tried to contact Sharda but Roshni's grandmother's reluctance to allow him back home, thwarted all his attempts. She tells Roshni that that she is free to go find her father. Roshni decides to start in Mauritius. Since Rahul is also in Mauritius, Ahuja asks him to pick Roshni from the airport. Since things are too hot for Jaggu in Bombay, he travels to Hong Kong to tide some time. Jaggu is employed by Prakash, who now lives in Hong Kong. In Mauritius, Rahul and Roshni meet Prakash's brother (Mushtaq Khan), who hates Prakash. He says that Prakash's actions in India ruined the families reputation in Mauritus. When Roshni insists, he reveals that Prakash is in Hong Kong. Roshni calls the number in Hong Kong, but Prakash refuses to accept her as his daughter, even though he remembers Sharda. Roshni refuses to give up and decides to go to Hong Kong. Before the flight, Rahul hides 3 drug packets in Roshni's luggage, and his own ticket is booked in a different name. Rahul and Roshni go to Hong Kong to look for her father, Roshni is arrested for trafficking cocaine, and Rahul disappears. Inspector Phillip (Tom Alter) picks Roshni up from the baggage belt after her luggage is marked by sniffer dogs for drugs. Roshni is quickly found guilty and remanded to a prison where inmates are kept barefoot and in squalid conditions. The warden (Bob Christo) sexually abuses the female inmates assisted by female cop (Kunika). Roshni befriends fellow inmate Angela (Soni Razdan), who is on death row for drugs smuggling. Angela's brother Neel is in the male prison block. Angela bribes the guards to meet him from time to time. Jaggu sees Roshni's picture in the papers and Roshni asks for Jaggu's help in finding her father Prakash. Jaggu tells Prakash that her own daughter is in jail in Hong Kong. Prakash goes to visit Roshni in jail as her attorney. Prakash is really emotional, but doesn't divulge that he is her father. He tells Roshni to accept that she brought the drugs for personal use, and she would go to jail for a few years. As a smuggler, she will be put to death. Roshni refuses to accept a crime that she did not commit. Prakash gets Rahul's photo from a camera in Roshni's luggage. Inspector Phillip wants a bribe of $50,000 to arrest Rahul. Jaggu enters a street fight contest to earn the money to pay off Phillip. Phillip changes the drugs to talcum powder, and Prakash manages to get bail for Roshni at the next court hearing. Roshni starts loving Jaggu. However, a Hong Kong Officer Lee Ming suspects Phillip of foul play and starts investigating the case. Phillip is arrested for bribery and the court convicts Roshni of drug smuggling and sentences her to death. Back in prison, Angela is shot to death as per her sentence, along with her brother. The only way out now is for Roshni to escape prison. Prakash finds that 7 prisoners escaped in WW II from the prison where Roshni has been kept, by using a tunnel network underneath the jail. Jaggu gets arrested for vandalism and is sent to prison. He runs afoul of the jailer and the female cop, themselves lovers, who beat him in front of Roshni. Jaggu ends up in the medical ward. Prakash works to help them escape by arranging a fake passport for Roshni. Roshni bribes the female guard to let her visit Jaggu, but the guard takes the money and refuses to let Roshni go to Jaggu. A fight ensues between Roshni and the female guard, in which the latter is killed. The warden intervenes when Roshni reaches Jaggu and they try to escape the jail via the drain system under the prison. Jaggu attacks and kills the warden. They escape the jail and return to India with the help of tickets and passports arranged by Prakash. At the Hong Kong airport, Prakash is questioned by the police, and Roshni learns that he is her father, and that he had fled the country years earlier when he had been wrongfully accused of treason. Later at Rahul's house, Rahul admits that he had been dealing with drugs that resulted in Roshni's arrest. She slaps him for deceiving her and gets him arrested. With Prakash's blessings, Roshni and Jaggu get married.

Janki Kapoor (Nutan) and her two sons Ravi Kapoor (Kumar Gaurav) and Vicky Kapoor (Sanjay Dutt) come from a poor family, and have difficulties making ends meet. To add to this burden, the family has to content with the waywardness of Vicky Kapoor, who is always getting into trouble with the law. Ravi, on the other hand, is a hard-working, responsible son of Janki`s who earns for the family, but also makes sacrifices for Vicky. Vicky is determined to get a job in Dubai as he has heard of thousands of Indians making a successful living there. Ravi arranges for his visa and the money to go to Dubai. Once in Dubai, the Kapoors receive no word from him, and eventually give up on him. Vicky has encountered problems in Dubai, as he was cheated out of a job and his visa was obtained fraudulently. In order to remain in Dubai, he must work for ruthless international smuggler Rana (Paresh Rawal), and must earn his keep or be turned over to the authorities. This movie also tell the bond relation between Indian and Pakistani people.

After their only son dies, an old couple rent out a room to get a source of income. Sujata, a budding actress, moves in and they end up getting involved in each other`s lives.
