Inspector Pratap Tungare is in charge of the investigation and CID Inspector Mahesh Chaudhari is specially assigned to assist him. Tungare has a long-standing feud with prominent criminal lawyer Advocate Potbhare who has successfully defended several accused murderers who had been arrested by Tungare. Potbhare's daughter is in love with a local man Laxmikanth Lokhande (Lakshya) who runs a detective agency with his assistant Ranga and frequently lands in trouble with Tungare. After Raosaheb Nimbalkar - the third victim - is found dead, his brother Bapusaheb announces a reward of Rs. 2 Lakhs for anyone providing information about the killer.
