This is the story of a love triangle where Shankar (Manoj Kumar) and Shobhana (Mala Sinha) are in love whereas Rita (Shashikala) is his sworn bride since childhood. Shankar marries Rita as per family wishes but their ill fitted marriage does not provide either of them any solace. The situation worsens when Shobhana enters their lives again.
