With the help of a talking freeway billboard, a wacky weatherman tries to win the heart of an English newspaper reporter, who is struggling to make sense of the strange world of early 1990s Los Angeles. Harris K. Telemacher is a "wacky weekend weatherman" for a local Los Angeles television station, who is searching for meaning in his otherwise cliché ridden Los Angeles life. With the help of an insightful and talkative Freeway sign, Harris embarks on a journey through Los Angeles in pursuit of Sarah, an English reporter who has been sent to the City of Angels to research an article for the London Times. —TheMovieHippo In Los Angeles, the meteorologist Harris K. Telemacher is the wacky weatherman of television news. He has a wasted relationship with his obnoxious girlfriend Trudi, and he feel that he lives a boring life. When Harris meets English journalist Sara McDowell, who has come to Los Angeles to write en article for the London Times, in a brunch party with her ex-husband Roland Mackey and other friends, he believes that she is the woman of his life. Harris does not know how to seduce her, and he discovers that Trudi has been cheating on him with his agent for three years. Then Harry dates the younger aspirant spokesmodel SanDeE* because he believes that Sara is interested in her ex-husband. Telemacher has only come to the realization that he hates his life. He is in a long term relationship with Trudi, a personal shopper and image consultant who is a self-absorbed, high maintenance woman and whose primary goal in life is to climb the social ladder. And as the wacky weatherman for KYOY Channel-14 Television News despite his Ph.D. in Arts and Humanities, he has the most boring job in the city in the weather never changing, it always 72°F and sunny, the reason he has to be wacky in order to make it more interesting. His life changes when he begins to have conversations with an electronic highway signpost, which seems to want to help him find the meaning of his life. He thinks that what the signpost is trying to help him with is finding happiness in large part with his love life. He believes it has something to do with two free-spirited women he has only recently met. The first is Sara McDowell, a London based journalist he meets at a social function, she in town temporarily to write a story for the London Times on Los Angeles. As Sara to him seems unattainable despite his overall attraction to her, the second is not Sandy, Sandi, or even Sandee, but rather SanDeE*, a clothing store clerk and aspiring spokesmodel who is not shy about wanting to have a casual sexual relationship with him despite she already being in another one. —Huggo Harris K. The Wild West goes wacko when the Greatest Fast-Drawin', Fancy-Dressin', Silver-Spurred, Geetar Playin', Singing Cowboy movie matinee idol Rex O'Herlihan hits the saddle in this cockeyed, affectionate send-up of the '40s B-movie Western. While the audience watches a black and white horse opera, a narrator's voice wonders what such a movie would be like today. Classic Western stereotypes and clichés get turned on their ear when our fearless hero, fully dressed in white and atop his dancing horse Wildflower, rides into the tackiest town west of the Pecos to do good deeds and defy desperados. Written and directed by Hugh Wilson, who was responsible for the hilarious Police Academy (1984), Rustlers' Rhapsody stars Andy Griffith and Marilu Henner. —Anonymous An amusing spoof of the good 'ole westerns back in the halcyon days when all the cliches were held up as icons, this parody by Hugh Wilson works best for savvy audiences. Rex O'Herlihan (Tom Berenger) is a singing cowboy with a wardrobe straight out of the Hollywood westerns of the '40s - he worships his horse, and has a trusty sidekick too. Every town he wanders into has a sheriff on the dole, a shady cattle rancher, a prostitute with a heart of gold, an innocent young damsel, a town drunk, and the standard bad guys in black hats and long coats (Spaghetti-western style) who brutalize the poor sheep ranchers. After setting things straight in each identical town as he goes, Rex is beginning to feel like a re-run junky when he saunters into a town that is slightly different - and the parodies continue. —Anonymous

A womanizing sculptor named David goes to seek help from a psychiatrist, Marianna, to cure him of his obsession with women. Marianna (Dame Julie Andrews), a Los Angeles based therapist, tells the story of one of her patients, middle-aged David Fowler (Burt Reynolds), a successful sculptor. He originally came to see her due to his sudden impotence in all aspects of his life, including in his art and in his sex life, the latter especially worrisome as he has always adored women in the holistic sense, they in general who adore him right back. David's sessions with Marianna have most often been comprised of him talking about the women in his life, past and present, those in his early life, who included his single mother, who had her fair share of suitors and lovers, and a plethora of prostitutes, one to whom he lost his virginity, and the profession which he has always treated with respect beyond the issues of many women resorting to the business as a last resort to survive. He has moved from one girlfriend or lover to another in his fear that he would miss something special in the women he has not yet met. Those women include, but are not limited to: Courtney Wade (Cynthia Sikes), local on-air television personality who pampers him with her cooking; Agnes Chapman (Marilu Henner), who may have the best looking legs in the world according to David, but who tells David in return that the legs he saw to which he was initially attracted were not hers; Louise Carr (Kim Basinger), the wife of a Houston-based client, wealthy Roy Carr (Barry Corbin), David's sexual encounters with Louise, which are characterized by their riskiness and her canny ability to calculate the time required; and David's assistant Nancy (Jennifer Edwards), the one woman to whom he was attracted, but with whom he had never slept, due to the vulnerable state she was in when they met. Beyond trying to figure out what has caused David's current issue, Marianna has to admit to herself that she too is not immune to his charms. All of these women realize that they are most-likely temporary fixtures in his life, but love him nonetheless.
