This animated film starts with Barbara Gordon/Batgirl (voice of Tara Strong) observing Bruce Wayne/Batman (voice of Kevin Conroy) meeting with Commissioner Jim Gordon (voice of Ray Wise). Gordon shone the bat-signal to call Batman due to a robbery in progress. Batman heads off to take care of it while Batgirl pursues the robbers herself. The getaway van is driven by two punks, one among them being Paris Franz (voice of Maury Sterling), nephew of Gotham City's biggest crime lord Carlos Francesco (voice of John DiMaggio). Batman chases the crooks in the Batmobile while Batgirl leaps onto the van. She blows the backdoor open, letting some other criminals shoots at Batman. Paris shoots at Batgirl, causing her to fall off the van. She and Batman end up catching one criminal, but Batman is upset with Batgirl for getting in the way and almost harming herself. Paris and his buddy meet with Francesco. He is pissed at his nephew for Batgirl's intervention, where four of Francesco's men were caught, as well as $100,000. Francesco orders Paris to get the money back, or he'll have him killed. Paris and his goons go to rob a warehouse. Batgirl finds them, which Paris was counting on since he's developed an infatuation with her. He sprays her with knockout gas, but she has enough time to knee him in the groin before hiding out in the vault. Paris and the others get away. After she comes to and the police arrive, Batman meets Batgirl on a rooftop. He expresses his concern for her work on the case and orders her to stay off it. This angers Barbara, making her feel like Batman won't trust her. The criminals are on their boat after a night with some prostitutes. Paris gets a call from Francesco, and when his buddy picks up the phone, he gets shot in the head. Outside the boat are four shooters on a motorboat. Paris and his other cohort make their getaway by rigging the boat to explode as the hitmen board it, killing them all. Paris sends a video message to Batgirl so she can go looking for him. Batman is with her while she watches it. He knows it's a trap, so he tells her to stay off the case. She doesn't listen and follows the clues, leading her to find another phone with a message from Paris. She is led to an apartment where she discovers Francesco's dead body. Two of Francesco's men show up, forcing Batgirl to flee. Batman arrives and starts kicking ass. Batman and Batgirl stand on a rooftop arguing. She is finally pushed over the edge and she begins to attack Batman. He defends himself but is quickly subdued. In the heat of the moment, Batgirl kisses him. She then takes off her cowl and suit, revealing her breasts and they proceed to have passionate sex. This later fills Barbara with regret. The next night, Batgirl calls Batman as he is driving to find Paris. The Batmobile gets hit with an RPG by the docks. Batman ejects himself to safety and is faced by a bunch of crooks. Batgirl shows up on her motorcycle. She finds Paris and beats his face to a bloody pulp, but stops before she kills him. Paris is arrested, but Batgirl realizes what Batman was saying in regards to his concern for her. She meets him as Barbara and tells her she is giving up being Batgirl. A while later, Batman meets with Detective Harvey Bullock (voice of Robin Atkin Downes) at a crime scene where four men have been found dead, all of them with big smiles on their faces. Batman knows this is the work of The Joker (voice of Mark Hamill). He and Bullock go to Arkham Asylum to meet with him in his cell. The Joker appears to be obscured in darkness. Batman tells him that this will end with one of them killing the other. The man doesn't respond and continues stacking playing cards. Batman grabs his hand and sees the man has white powder on his hand. He pulls the man into the light and sees he is not Joker, but a decoy. The real Joker is meeting with another man to buy out an abandoned amusement park for a sinister purpose. We see a flashback of Joker before he became what he is now. He was a struggling comedian tending to his pregnant wife Jeannie (voice of Anna Vocino). The two had been in financial troubles for a while, and he was trying to find a way to support his growing family. Bruce is in the batcave trying to figure out what Joker's motives are. Alfred (Brian George) tells him he can't save everyone. Barbara is with her father in his apartment. She hears a knock at the door, thinking it's a friend of hers. It's The Joker, holding a gun. He shoots Barbara in her abdomen and sends her crashing onto a coffee table in front of Gordon. Two of Joker's men come in and beat Gordon before taking him away. Another flashback shows Pre-Joker meeting with two gangsters at a bar as he tries to come up with some money. The gangsters want him to help them break into the chemical plant where he once worked so that they can pull off a heist at the card company next to it. They show Pre-Joker the mask they want him to wear, which is that of The Red Hood. Two officers find Pre-Joker at the bar and inform him that Jeannie has died in an accident. The man expresses grief and says he has no more reason to go through with the crime. The gangsters give him their condolences but insist that it's too late for him to back out now. Batman finds Barbara at the hospital. The doctor tells him that she will never be able to walk again due to the through-and-through bullet injury to her spine. Bullock also implies to Batman that Joker may have raped her. Barbara wakes up and tells Batman that Joker is trying to prove a point, and that Gordon is "top of the bill". Gordon is taken to Joker's amusement park where he is tortured by some of Joker's freak show henchmen. The freaks take Gordon onto a ride through a house of horrors as Joker puts on a performance with the other freaks. Gordon is forced to see pictures of Barbara nude and bloodied, with Joker's intention being to drive Gordon insane. The last flashback shows Pre-Joker and the gangsters getting ready to pull off the heist as Pre-Joker wears Red Hood's mask and cape. They engage in a shootout with security as Batman arrives on the scene. The gangsters die while Pre-Joker is startled by Batman. He trips over his cape and falls into a vat of chemicals. He is swept out through a pipe into the river. Once he gets out, he sees his reflection in a puddle. His skin is bleached white, his lips are red, and his hair is green. His mind then warps into insanity, and he is now The Joker. Batman finds a clue that leads him to the amusement park. He finds Gordon, who remains sane. As Batman heads to pursue Joker, Gordon tells him to capture him "by the books" to show that their way works. Batman follows Joker into the funhouse as he fends off the freaks who try to kill Batman. Joker taunts Batman by saying the world isn't worth fighting for and how one bad day can turn anyone insane, as it was one bad day that led Batman into becoming what he is now. The two of them fight until Batman throws himself and Joker out the window. Joker tries to shoot him, but the gun only pops out a "click bang bang" sign. Batman tells Joker that he doesn't want either of them to kill each other, and he offers to help him. Joker seems surprised at first but declines, saying it's too late for him. He then starts to tell a joke about two men escaping from a loony bin. After the punchline, both Batman and Joker start laughing together until eventually only Batman's laughter is heard. During the end credits, Barbara is seen in a wheelchair. She goes into her room and onto the computer, where we see the Oracle logo, indicating that she has new work to begin.

In a building site in London's East End, two construction workers discover a 17th Century graveyard condemned by Charles II. After some debate, they decide to open the sealed door in search for gold or other treasure, and discover a mass grave. Shortly afterward, they are attacked and bitten by zombies, setting off a zombie outbreak in the area. Terry (Rasmus Hardiker) and his younger brother Andy (Harry Treadaway) are planning a bank robbery so they can save their grandfather Ray (Alan Ford)'s retirement home from being demolished by property developers, forcing him to move from his beloved East End to a new facility outside of London. They go to visit him, bringing along "meals on wheels" for the residents. An inspector is there, taking notes about the building. Ray tells him to leave, because he's upsetting everyone who's eating dinner by reminding them that they will be forced to leave. Along with the assistance of their cousin Katy (Michelle Ryan), hopelessly inept criminal Davey "Tuppence" (Jack Doolan) and "Mental" Mickey (Ashley Bashy Thomas) (a psychotic ex-soldier turned gun runner), the two boys head to the bank, counting on a system re-boot of the banks security cameras to cover their actions. During the robbery, the bank manager presses an emergency button and the police are alerted. Mickey forces the gang to take Emma (Georgia King) and Clive (Tony Gardner) hostage in order to escape. Upon leaving the bank, however, they find that the police have been killed by a growing horde of zombies. They quickly escape to their van, bringing a survivor with them, who quickly turns into a zombie and is thrown from the vehicle. The gang decide to go somehwere and hole up, and try to find out what's going on. Meanwhile, at the retirement home, the zombies attack the facility, killing the groundskeepers. Ray and residents Peggy (Honor Blackman), Daryl (Tony Selby), Doreen (Georgina Hale) and Eric (Dudley Sutton) take refuge in the kitchen, and begin looking for a way to either escape or hold the zombies off, believing that no one will come to rescue a bunch of old pensioners in a soon to be forclosed retirement home. He and Peggy exchange promises to kill one another if they are bitten, as neither want to be zombies. Terry's group arrive at an abandoned warehouse, where they are approached by a slow moving zombie. Mickey shoots at it while it advances on him, to no effect. Katy tells Mickey to shoot it in the head just as he is bitten by the zombie. Katie shoots it, and Mickey is left with the zombie's mouth clamped tightly to his arm. Later on, Katy tells Terry that sooner or later Mickey will turn and they will have to kill him. Meanwhile, at the retirement home, resident Hamish (Richard Briers) naps in the garden, unaware of the events that have happened. Ray yells to him to wake up, and Hamish gets to his feet and slowly heads to the door, walking with his walker...and still outpacing the pursuing zombies. Ray heads outside, kills a few zombies, and gets Hamish into the building. At their hideout, Emma pleads with Mickey and Davey to let her and Clive go, saying she does not care about their 'selfish' plans, in which Katy tells her that they are not robbing the bank for themselves, but to save the retirement home. Clive, however, continues to say he will identify them all to the police, angering Mickey. In response to Katy's revelation about their plans for the money, Mickey decides to leave the group, and takes Emma and Clive with him and ties them up. Mickey passes out and turns, after which he is promptly blown up with a hand grenade by Terry, who rescues Emma and Clive. Whilst arguing, Clive picks up Mickey's gun and threatens the group. Andy tells Clive there are zombies approaching him from behind, which he does not believe, and is promptly eaten, shooting Davey dead in the process. The rest of the group escape with plans to go to the retirement home to rescue Ray, getting away on a double-decker bus hotwired by Katy. Terry gives a gun to Emma, telling her they're all on one team now and she'll need it. She agrees, and asks if they can stop on the way they stop to look for her younger sister. Terry and Emma go to the house, but find her sister is now a zombie. Emma decides not to kill her in case a cure is found. The group decide they need more guns, so they go to Mickey's storage container and load up on assault rifles, pistols, shotguns, grenades, and ammunition. Meanwhile, at the retirement home, the zombies are close to breaking into the kitchen. Ray is angry with himself for letting he and his freinds be trapped, but they ensure him that they will all go out fighting. Terry and Andy's group arrive at the retirement home in the double decker bus. Whilst Emma distracts the zombies surrounding the building, Terry, Andy and Katy sneak up to the roof, and break in through a skylight...where they are almost stabbed by Ray, who heard the noice and thought they were zombies. Ray asks them how they will escape, the show him the huge bag of guns they brought from Mickey's store-house. He is elated, and everyone takes their weapon of choice, fighting their way free of the building to the bus, now returned to the site with Emma at the wheel. They drive off in the bus, considering where to go to get out of the zombie-held territory. On the way however, the bus breaks down and the group are forced to abandon it. They find a tour boat on the Thames which Peggy can drive. However it is still chained up. Ray decides to sacrifice himself to save the others, leaving the boat to unmoor it while telling his grandsons to get a job and make something of themselves. He unchains the boat, but is overcome by zombies. His grandchildren rush the zombies, killing them in droves, and Ray miraculously appears; he's not been bitten, and he begins killing zombies with his assault rifle. They clear the area, including killing the now zombified builiding inspector from earlier. Ray gets onto the boat with the others and escapes. On the boat, the group wonder what will happen next, and Ray tells them that they can take East London back for themselves as he shoots at zombies on the banks of the river. In this movie appears Wolf Kahler who played Ludendorff, chemist and close friend of Fritz Shimon Haber's in Haber (2008).

The quiet coastal town of Midwich, California is invaded by an unseen force which leaves ten women mysteriously pregnant. Nine months later, the babies are born simultaneously on one night, except for one which is stillborn. At first, they all appear to be normal, but it does not take the parents long to realize that their children are anything but normal. As they grow older, the children are shown to have pale skin, platinum-white hair, fierce intellect and steely, cobalt eyes. The emotionless children display eerie psychic abilities and remarkable powers, which they use with deadly consequences, unleashing a reign of terror. When they actively use their mind-controlled powers, their irises or their entire eyes glow in different colours, mostly reddish-orange, but also green, yellow, violet, blue or pure white. There are some story differences from the earlier adaptation. In this version, the children "paired off", but one of the children, David (Thomas Dekker), loses his partner after she dies at birth. As a result, he shows human compassion while still resembling the other children and retaining some degree of psychic powers. This leads to him not fitting in well with the children. Their ruthless leader, Mara (Lindsey Haun) ("daughter" of a local doctor, Dr. Alan Chaffee (Christopher Reeve); her mother, Barbara (Karen Kahn), commits suicide by walking off an ocean cliff), considers him less important due to his expression of emotions. Because of his childhood loss, he understands what the other children do not: pain. He and his mother (Linda Kozlowski) (the local school principal) share a brief conversation about the meaning of the word "empathy", with David beginning to understand that if he feels pain, he can understand others' pain as well. When the other children experience pain, they simply use their powers to inflict the same pain on the adult responsible for the pain, for example forcing one of the mothers to put one of her arms in a pot full of boiling water, or forcing the local optometrist making herself blind with a painful liquid. Soon, the other colonies of psychic children in foreign countries are eliminated because of their danger. The scientific team at Midwich quickly flees the town to escape the chaos. However, the lead government scientist, Dr. Susan Verner (Kirstie Alley), is killed by the children after being forced to show them David's partner, the baby that was stillborn. Susan has secretly kept it so that she could perform an autopsy on it and study it. A mob of angry townspeople attempt to stop the children, but the latter use their powers to kill the leader of the mob causing the other townspeople to flee quickly. The State Police and the National Guards are then sent out to kill the children, who instead hypnotize them into shooting each other in a chaotic gun battle. In order to rid the town of the children, Alan devises a plan; to detonate a briefcase of explosives inside the children's classroom. By thinking of a brick wall, he is able to create a mental barrier and keep the presence of the bomb a secret from the children. Jill begs him to save David (because he is not like the others), and Alan agrees. He attempts to do this by asking David to leave the classroom to get his books from his car. Finally, Jill shows up, but the children stop her. David, angered by this, rushes to her defense and knocks Mara over. The children turn on David, but Jill rushes him from the building. At last, the children break through Alan's defenses, but the explosives detonate, destroying the barn and killing everyone, including Alan. Jill and David survive the massacre; she says that they would both move to a place where nobody knows them. The last scene is of David, riding in his mother's car, looking off into the distance.
