Note: this is a remake of the 2013 Spanish-language Chilean film of the same name. Gloria Bell (Julianne Moore) is a 50-something woman who has been divorced for nearly 10 years. She has two grown kids and works an office job at an insurance company. She spends her days working and checking in with her children. At night, she likes to go out dancing and meeting people at local nightclubs frequented by middle aged single people like herself. At home, a stray cat keeps sneaking its way into her apartment, and her upstairs neighbor is constantly screaming. One night while out dancing at a local singles retro disco club for middle aged people, she meets Arnold (John Turturro), who is only one year divorced. The two bond, dance, and sleep together. Gloria goes to a local salon to have her legs waxed and talks to her waxer, complaining about the cat, but the waxer tells her a mythic biblical tale about how the cats were created to take care of the mice overpopulation on Noah's arc. Arnold reaches out to Gloria to ask her on an official date. During the date, he takes a phone call. He admits to Gloria that while he's divorced, he still financially supports his ex-wife and his two adult daughters; the latter especially who don't even have jobs and depend on him for everything... they are always making demands of him. His phone is constantly ringing with his daughters calling. He also recently had gastric bypass and lost a significant amount of weight. He and Gloria continue to date, having fun at Arnold's paintball course that he runs. But when his daughters call, Arnold continually lies to them about where he is. This hurts Gloria's feelings, and she pushes him on it, but he says his daughters will be cruel and he wants to protect them from that. Gloria brings Arnold to her son Peter's (Michael Cera) birthday party. Peter has been having a hard time since he has a newborn baby and the baby's mother has just left him to go "find herself", and Gloria has been helping out with the baby. Gloria's daughter Anne (Caren Pistorius) and Anne's ex-husband Dustin (Brad Garrett), along with Dustin's new wife (Jeanne Tripplehorn) are all also in attendance. Gloria congratulates Anne on her pregnancy, which makes things awkward since Dustin didn't know. Anne tells them she will be moving to Sweden to be with the baby's father. Dustin's wife offers Gloria marijuana, but Gloria says she doesn't do that. The family goes down memory lane, looking at old photos, and Arnold becomes sullen and a little removed. He gets a phone call from his daughters, again, and leaves without a word. The family looks for Arnold, and Gloria calls him, but he doesn't answer his phone. Gloria is incredibly embarrassed. Arnold calls her repeatedly to apologize, but Gloria ignores his calls. He catches her in her parking garage at work, and is completely non-apologetic, asking how he could embarrass her by being cozy with her ex-husband and saying his daughters needed him. Gloria tells him to grow a pair and drives off. Arnold chases after her saying he loves her, but she drives away. After her crazy neighbor accidentally leaves his marijuana at her door, Gloria smokes it and resumes going out dancing. She brings Anne to the airport and sends her tearfully off to Sweden. But after her co-worker and friend loses her job, and she is told her eyesight is failing and needs prescription eye drops for the rest of her life, she finally answers Arnold's continued phone calls. Gloria and Arnold take a romantic trip to Las Vegas. Things are going well, but Arnold's daughters call again, saying their mother has injured herself walking through a glass door and that he needs to come home. Gloria, exhausted, says they should just cancel the trip, but Arnold says he's not going to. He and Gloria sleep together in the hotel room. Arnold continues to ignore his daughter's calls, and the two have a romantic dinner. His phone keeps ringing, and Gloria playfully puts his cellphone into his soup. She suggests they take a romantic, longer trip to Spain. Arnold agrees and excuses himself, presumably to use the restroom... but never returns. Gloria goes back to the room and finds Arnold's things are gone. She goes on an odyssey, drinking and going through the casinos, making friends, and ends up meeting a younger man (Sean Astin) and going on a full bender, waking up on a pool chair missing a shoe. She walks back to her hotel and calls her mother (Holland Taylor) who comes to get her and take her home. Upon returning, she finds the cat once again in her apartment, but this time, she lets it stay and begins feeding it. Arnold continues to call her repeatedly, and she unplugs her phone from the wall. On a day where she is set to attend her friend (Rita Wilson)'s daughter's wedding, she dresses up and on the way out, tosses Arnold's paintball gun into the trash. But after having a second thought, she retrieves it. She drives to Arnold's house and upon seeing him, fires paint balls into his home. When he protests, she blasts him several times in the chest and stomach. As he doubles over, his daughters run out, screaming at Gloria, but she gets into her car and drives off without a word. Once the shock wears off, she begins laughing hysterically. In the final scene, Gloria makes it to the wedding reception, apologizing for having missed the ceremony. She is asked by a random man to dance with him, but declines, a little dejected. But the song "Gloria" starts playing, and she gives in, getting onto the dance floor and dancing joyously, lost in the music.

A story of unrequited love set on a backdrop of temporal paradox. Dr. Alice Sharpe has a choice to make, stay with her true love and risk the collapse of the space time continuum, or take more drastic measures to ensure all of creation isn't erased. In the great city of Iolanthus in the year 2101 Dr Alice Sharpe is the first person to travel through time, but a mistake in the calculations leads to a paradox that could destroy time itself. Alice is thrown 100 years forward to nightmare future, the only clues to her predicament are a letter from herself she doesn't remember writing and another from her grandfather. Alice learns that with the help of Iolanthe the city's AI, she must travel back in time to change the course of the past. Alice arrives in the year 2050 in a remote secret base; the location of the first ever tests into casimir energy and wormholes and her true love Dr. Robert 'Bob' Cameron. Unfortunately for Alice they are not destined to meet until 2090, so she must lay low and buy her time until she can find a way to fix things. The only person she knows she can trust is her grandfather Alfred, who works on the base. Major David Jones who runs the base quickly captures her and coerces Alice for information. Cromwell Jackson, an entrepreneur and major business owner, gains knowledge of Alice's predicament from his future self and will do anything to get information on the future from her. Alice becomes Bob's assistant and they start to fall in love. Alice knows that any relationship between them could have unforeseen consequences and could endanger time itself. She tries her best to stick to Alfred's letter, however as their love blossoms Alice realizes this is the key. It's the love between them that pull Alice into the past so she could be with Bob again and give him the key to changing the passage of time. With the experiment near completion Bob's admits his feelings for Alice and wants her to stay with him in this time. With continued pressure from the Major and Cromwell Jackson, Alice has to make the ultimate sacrifice, and hope her time with Bob is enough to change fate.

Two High school guys are best friends Seth (Johan Hill) and Evan (Michael Cera) who are on the verge of finishing high school. As they both gain entries into different colleges, they go their separate ways. Seth is a big mouth fast talking kid while Evan on the other hand is very reserved who keep things to himself and doesn't talk much. Seth wants to gain experience in the sexual front before going to college as he is of the view that a college girl expect Guys to be expert at it. Michael on the other hand wants a girl for all noble reasons. Seth gets his chance of realizing his experience when he Jules (Emma Stone) invites him over for her party, after he agrees to bring booze along with him. Michael joins Seth when he comes to know about Becca (Martha Mac Isaac) , who he has liked ever since their childhood is also going tyo be present there. But they only have few hours to find booze but where are they going to find it? At this exact time enter Mclovin (Christopher Mintz Plasse) is nerdy guy with fake ID but dressed to kill. However two cops portrayed by Seth Rogen and Bill Hader, gets in his way. While Seth and Evan are left on their own to find alcohol.

The movie is created with excerpts from Chuck's private journals, public records and taped interviews. In 1940, Chuck Barris' (Sam Rockwell) sole purpose through his teenage years (Michael Cera) in Philadelphia concerns promiscuity, but he is unsuccessful despite numerous attempts with a wide variety of girls and women. Inspired by a television advertisement in 1955, he moves to Manhattan to become an NBC page. He dreams of becoming famous in television. Chuck had applied for the management trainee program at NBC, but he lies on his application form since 2000 people had applied for just 5 positions. He hooks up with a fellow Page Georgia (Jennifer Hall) and she gets pregnant. Thats when Chuck finds that he has been fired. Turns out Georgia was just late on her period. Chuck moves back to Philadelphia and becomes Dick Clark's personal assistant on American Bandstand in 1961. He hooks up with Debbie (Maggie Gyllenhaal), an ABC executive, as he still chases fame and fortune. There, he writes the successful "Palisades Park" song and falls in love with a woman named Penny Pacino (Drew Barrymore), who is Debbie's roommate. It was with Penny that Chuck gets an idea for a dating show. Chuck is given permission to pitch the concept for The Dating Game at the American Broadcasting Company (ABC); he receives $7,500 to create a television pilot for the studio. However, ABC abandons The Dating Game in favor of Hootenanny. One night after Barris is kicked out of a bar for fighting, he is approached by CIA agent Jim Byrd (George Clooney), who recruits him as an assassin. Jim convinces Chuck by saying that he can teach him how to win at bar fights and he would earn good money as well. Chuck is mainly interested as he has heard stories that spies get to have sex with Eastern European girls. Chuck is put through basic CIA training. Chuck scores very highly at sniper shooting. Returning from a mission in Mexico in 1964 where he kills his first target, Chuck finds that Penny has become a hippie. Meanwhile, ABC decides to green-light The Dating Game. Initially, the network executives are appalled by the lewd comments made by the participants on the show and Chuck argues that the spontaneity of the show is part of its charm. Chuck is forced to hire Peter Jenks to ensure that participants keep it strictly PG-13 on the show. By 1967 the TV show is a phenomenon. Chuck gets a prime-time slot for the show. Jim suggests that the prize money can be more lucrative, and the winners can go on a supervised trip to Europe or Southeast Asia. And this could be Chuck's cover to go on CIA missions around the world. Chuck takes another mission for the CIA in Helsinki, Finland, where he meets gorgeous operative Patricia Watson (Julia Roberts). Chuck finds more success back home when The Newlywed Game goes on air. He and Penny decide to move to Los Angeles into a house, but Chuck is cautious of marriage, much to Penny's dismay. The journey in Barris' life is tied into the story of Thomas Carlyle's main character in Sartor Resartus, Teufelsdrockh, and this parallel is referred to throughout the film. In 1970, Jim convinces Chuck to go on another mission in West Berlin to assassinate communist Hans Colbert. There, Chuck is introduced to German American agent Keeler (Rutger Hauer) and is held captive by the KGB for some weeks when he infiltrates into East Germany. He is eventually traded to the US in exchange for one of the Russian agents. In 1976 Los Angeles, Chuck creates The Gong Show and becomes even more famous as its host. He is also criticized for the decline of quality television. Meanwhile, in 1979 Keeler is murdered (although it is reported as a suicide), and Jim warns Chuck of a mole in the agency. Chuck's TV shows are canceled due to poor ratings and his relationship with Penny becomes complex. One night, Chuck finds Jim sitting atop the diving board of his backyard pool. Jim reveals to Chuck why he "fit the profile" for the CIA's recruitment policy of assassins. Jim cites details from Chuck's early childhood which seem to predestine him to become a killer. During the conversation Jim mysteriously dies, which leads to Chuck becoming traumatized with past reflections of his CIA and television career. After almost having a nervous breakdown on his own show, Chuck shuts himself away in a New York City hotel. Penny manages to find him there in 1981 but tries in vain to convince him to return to California to get married. Chuck still refuses. Chuck finally leaves his room and confronts Patricia in Boston. There, he finds that she is the mole Jim warned him about. Chuck kills Patricia and begins to write his autobiography, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. He finally decides to marry Penny. After the ceremony, he confesses to her his double life as a CIA agent and assassin, but she merely laughs, assuming he is making a joke, and he decides not to correct her. In 2002, he prepares for an interview for the film adaptation of his autobiography.
