Amarnath is a 1978 Indian Kannada film, directed by K. Mani Murugan and produced by N. K. Narayan, V. K. Ramesh and P. B. Walke. The film stars Ambarish, Sundar Krishna Urs, Dheerendra Gopal and K. S. Ashwath in lead roles. Music of the film was composed by Vijaya Bhaskar.

Dr.Ramesh is on the run from police having fled from the scene of murder shown red handed killing his sister's ( Jayalakshmi, as Rekha) rapist played by Ambarish. He meets up with Sandhya ( Arathi) also a runaway bride from her home in a lonely Railway station on a rainy night. But Ramesh is on the run chased by police having left his sister suffering from amnesia being treated by his friend Dr Anand( Anant Nag).Heteels the story of how he,a do-gooder Doctor had to resort to murder in a fit of anger and revenge. But as the case in court proceeds with Ramesh's arrest, the sister is being cured and she remembers everything that Ramesh wants her to forget. The chain of events culminates in suspenseful ending in a courtroom drama where the truth is revealed.
