After the deaths of his wife Sheila and child Raja, Sagar takes to drinking as well as singing and dancing at weddings and special occasions. Intoxicated heavily after one such event, he comes across a young male child lying in a garbage can and takes him home. He finds out that the child has been deaf-mute since birth, and he decides to adopt him and name him Raja. Sagar's life is turned upside-down when wealthy businessman Kailash Nath files a police complaint alleging that Raja is his grandson, and Sagar might have abducted and killed Raja's mom. To prove his innocence the boy takes them to his house where there was a happy family. They take a sniffer dog to find out clues. Wealthy Srivastav's son Shyam loves Renu, but his parents want him to marry rich Menaka Rai to save their business. Disowned, he leaves with Renu. After being wrongly jailed for Meera's murder and freed, he finds Renu married to another. Wealthy businessman, Srivastav, lives in a palatial house with his wife, Yashoda, and an only child, a son named Shyam, who likes to paint. Shyam is expected to marry Renu, the daughter of a business-friend, Kailashnath. Unknown to both the families, Shyam and Renu have already met, and fallen in love. When things start going wrong with the Srivastav's business dealings, they stand to lose everything, until and unless Shyam marries the only daughter, Menaka Rai, of the most wealthiest man in Bombay. Yashoda and her husband readily agree to this marriage, but Shyam refuses, as a result is asked to leave the house, and his parents will have nothing to do with him. Shyam and Renu begin their life together, but the unexpected happens, and a woman who is in love with Shyam, Meera, is killed and the police arrest Shyam for her death. He is produced in Court and is sentenced to die. But then the unexpected happens again, as Meera is still alive, and as a result Shyam is freed from prison. He goes to meet Renu and renew their love and get married, only to find out that Renu has got married to a Dr. Prakash, and will have nothing to do with him. A devastated Shyam must now decide to carry on with life and marry Meera, or go on a path of self-destruction.

The story of Paro and Madho, who lived in pre-independence India comes to affect the present. Events of thirty years ago in the lives of Paro, Madho,Janak, Saraswathi, the gardener and the disgraced policeman come back to create soulful links between past and present. Themes from the life of Zamindars, British Colonial rulers, parapsychology and law are skilfully twisted, so that most turns in the tale are unexpected. Attention to detail is excellent.

Varsha loves Vijay, a furniture store owner bogged down by debt, but her uncle insists that she marry his affluent friend, Vikram instead.

Chandru lives in a palatial house with his dad, Ram Kumar; mom Sita; elder brother Shyam and his wife. Chandru is in love with Geeta Sinha, the only daughter of wealthy Dr. Sinha, and would like to marry her. Geeta, too is in love with Chandru and introduces him to her dad. Dr. Sinha has no objections, the young couple are then formally engaged and a wedding date is set. The wedding preparations take place in both the households, and soon the big day arrives. This shocks everyone present, and it looks like Ram has a lot of explaining to do in order to get his son married or else live with this stigma for the rest of his life.

Vijay, a simpleton and the lookalike of the notorious international criminal Don is hired by D'Silva, to be the mole in Don's gang and report the details of his illegal activities. However, things take a turn for the worse when D'Silva is killed.

They career is spent as false witnesses near the Bombay courts, where they get paid a set sum of rupees for false depositions. This changes when they meet and are influenced by Kabir Das, and decide to go straight. They find that it's virtually impossible to earn a living as honest citizens. Then Kabir Das is arrested and imprisoned by a murder he claims he did not commit, and the duo promise to help him, and find out who the real killer is, but they themselves end up getting in trouble.
