Mathayus is an incredible warrior but is also an agile street fighter who is able to get out of deadly situations by using his presence of mind and finding an escape path. This was the time before the age of the Pyramids in Egypt and a powerful warlord by the name of Memnon had swept across the ancient world. He was the greatest swordsman the world had ever seen and could deflect arrows coming straight at him, with his swords. It was believed that Memnon had access to a sorcerer who could tell him the outcome of every battle, thus enabling him to defeat all his enemies. Mathayus and his associates are hired by King Pheron (Roger Rees) to kill a sorcerer Cassandra (Kelly Hu), whose prophetic powers allow the vicious Egyptian Emperor Memnon (Steven Brand) to rule his empire with an iron fist. Pheron represents the last group of free tribes left in Egypt. Balthazar is a tribe leader who refuses to commit his troops against Memnon even if he is assured that the Sorcerer will be killed. Pheron pays Mathayus with 20 blood rubies. Mathayus sneaks into Memnon's camp and finds his way to the sorcerer's tent, where he discovers that Memnon's sorcerer is actually a beautiful woman. Unfortunately, Mathayus is discovered and caught by the guards, thanks to a tip-off by Pheron's treacherous son, Takmet (Peter Facinelli), leading to Jesup and Rama being killed. Takmet had killed Pheron and broken up the tribal alliance to remove all resistance to Memnon and now Memnon was free to hunt the tribes one by one. Before Memnon can kill Mathayus, Cassandra protests, claiming that the Gods favor Mathayus and killing him (with Memon's hands or any other hand that he commands) may incur their wrath. Unable to kill Mathayus himself, Memnon has him buried to his neck in sand for fire ants to eat his head. With the help of the horse thief Arpid (Grant Heslov), whom Mathayus had encountered earlier in Memnon's camp where he was being roasted alive, he manages to escape. In exchange for Arpid's help, Mathayus had agreed not to kill him and to share the spoils of his adventures with Arpid. At Memnon's palace, Cassandra tells Memnon that his armies will conquer the west and that Queen Isis (Sherri Howard) and her soldiers will scatter to the four winds. Memnon then gives orders to his men to have his soldiers prepare for the final campaign. Cassandra warns Memnon that his methods will never bring about peace, but Memnon refuses to listen, and states his intention to make Cassandra his queen once he has completed his conquest. Cassandra says that she will lose her powers to see the future, if she has sex. Mathayus gets into city of Gomorrah with the help of Arpid and an urchin boy, Tutu, who helps him sneak inside Memnon's palace in exchange for a blood ruby. They briefly stumble into the laboratory of Memnon's sympathetic court magician (more of a scientist, but his science experiments look like magic to the ignorant), Philos (Bernard Hill), who directs Mathayus to the courtyard where Memnon is training. Philos is working on perfecting a Chinese formula for explosive gunpowder. Mathayus attempts to shoot Memnon from above, but Tutu is caught and charged with stealing. Memnon finds the blood ruby in Tutu's possession and assumed that it was stolen. Reluctantly, Mathayus saves Tutu from having his hand chopped off by shooting the ax out of Takmet's hand, alerting the guards. Mathayus flees back to Philos, who accidentally catapults him across the building into Memnon's harem, where the women disarm him and call the guards. Next, Mathayus falls into Cassandra's private quarters. After a long chase, Mathayus kidnaps Cassandra (he says that though he was hired to kill her, but he finds himself in a position that she is more useful to him alive than dead), reunites with Arpid outside the city walls and they escape, heading for the Valley of the Dead (Mathayus' natural home), where Mathayus believes, Memnon will try to retrieve Cassandra. Cassandra attempts to flee from Mathayus, but he persuades her otherwise, on the basis that she is safe with him. Cassandra says that she will never go back to Memnon as he has kept her prisoner since she was a child. However, Memnon sends his right-hand man, Thorak (Ralf Moeller), to kill Mathayus along with a group of soldiers. With the help of a sandstorm, Mathayus is able to kill the soldiers one by one, including Thorak, but Thorak manages to stab Mathayus in the leg with an arrow drenched in scorpion venom. At the risk of her own life, Cassandra uses her powers to heal Mathayus, and they continue their journey. Memnon, meanwhile, learns of Thorak's demise and prepares to destroy his enemies the next day. Deeper in the desert, the trio catch up with Philos, who managed to escape from the city. He has been working in the desert, where he has perfected his explosive powder by the use of Saltpeter the desert has. Overjoyed to see Cassandra safe, Philos joins forces with Mathayus. The group finds an oasis, where they are ambushed and kidnapped by a group of men working for Balthazar (Michael Clarke Duncan), the Nubian King and the leader of Memnon's enemies, who distrusts Mathayus and intends to kill him, the other two men and Cassandra. A brutal fight ensues between Mathayus and Balthazar. Mathayus, albeit barely, wins the fight and persuades Balthazar that they are fighting on the same side. Begrudgingly, Balthazar allows them one night's sanctuary. However, Cassandra has a vision of Memnon and his army slaughtering the entire rebel tribe and informs Mathayus, also foreseeing that he will die if he faces Memnon. Mathayus assures Cassandra that he will make his own destiny, and they share a night of intimacy. The next morning, Cassandra returns to Memnon in the hopes of stopping him by herself. Mathayus and Balthazar decide to team up to rescue Cassandra and bring Memnon's empire down once and for all. As Memnon meets Cassandra, he wants her to prove her loyalty by picking out the empty vase out of many which contain deadly cobras. Cassandra fails in the task and is attacked by Memnon. Mathayus intervenes and takes on the warlord himself. The rebels, led by Balthazar, battle Memnon's forces as Arpid and Philos plant bags of the explosive powder under the palace's foundation stone. Balthazar makes his way into Memnon's quarters and briefly helps Mathayus battle Memnon and his men, but a fire starts, and they end up separated. Balthazar encounters and kills Takmet, avenging Pheron, while Mathayus takes his fight with Memnon to the edge of the palace roof. As seen in Cassandra's vision, Mathayus is shot in the back by a soldier, but not fatally. Cassandra kills the soldier as Mathayus uses his bow which Takmet left on a nearby table and the same arrow to shoot the exhausted Memnon. The force sends Memnon falling to his death as the bags explode, killing the bulk of Memnon's forces. With their warlord defeated, the remaining soldiers bow to Mathayus and declare him the Scorpion King. In the aftermath, Mathayus and Cassandra, now King and Queen of Egypt, bid their farewells to Balthazar, who wishes them well. Cassandra then reveals to Mathayus that her night with him did not strip her of her powers. It was a white lie to stop Memnon from taking advantage of her. She subtly warns Mathayus of a vision she has had of his horrific destiny, but Mathayus decides that they will make their own destiny.

Born in 1950, Beverly grew up bright and ambitious in a working-class neighborhood in Connecticut; her father was a tough but good-hearted cop who listened to his daughter's problems, and her mother was a nervous woman eager to imagine the worst. From an early age, Beverly displays a keen intelligence and an interest in literature, and dreams of going to college in New York and becoming a writer. However, she also develops an early interest in boys, and at 15 finds herself madly in love with a boy from her high school. However, an attempt to get his attention leads to an embarassing incident at a party, and Ray, a sweet but thick-headed 18-year-old, steps forward to defend her. Beverly and Ray end up making out, and after one thing leads to another, Beverly discovers she's pregnant. Telling Ray is only marginally less difficult than informing her parents, and at 16, Beverly is a wife and mother. Against the odds, Beverly is determined to still finish high school and go on to college, but that goal becomes more difficult with time, especially after Beverly's marriage begins to fall apart. Ray tries to do the right thing but has trouble holding a job, and becomes addicted to heroin.

Supernova chronicles the search-and-rescue patrol of the medical ship Nightingale 229 in deep space in the early 22nd century and its six-member crew, which includes captain and pilot A.J. Marley (Robert Forster), co-pilot Nick Vanzant (James Spader), medical officer Kaela Evers (Angela Bassett), medical technician Yerzy Penalosa (Lou Diamond Phillips), search and rescue paramedic Danika Lund (Robin Tunney) and computer technician Benjamin Sotomejor (Wilson Cruz). Sweetie (Vanessa Marshall) is the ship's on-board computer. Aboard their vessel, they receive an emergency distress signal directly coming from an ice mining operation on the moon Titan 37, more than 3,000 light-years away. The ship usually receives signals from dispatch, so getting a direct signal is unusual. Titan 37 is a rogue moon as it was expelled from its parent body and is now wandering in deep space. The moon was abandoned 5 years ago, and all mining operations stopped. The call is from Karl Larson, who is Kaela's old former lover. Nick has joined the crew just 12 days before and is ex-military. He was discharged for drug use and he opted to spend his volunteer service (as part of the rehabilitation) on the Nightingale. Kaela doesn't trust Nick. Danika is having a sexual relationship with Yerzy. The crew answers the call and dimension-jumps-during which Captain Marley suffers fatal injuries due to a malfunction of the ship's equipment (the dimensional pods will allow humans to survive during the jump malfunctioned)-arriving in the path of Titan 37's debris cloud, some of which damages the ship and causes the loss of 82 percent of its maneuvering fuel. Worse still, Titan 37 orbits a blue giant, and its high gravity field will pull the ship to the point where it will be incinerated in 17 hours, 12 minutes-which happens to be almost the same amount of time that the Nightingale 229 will need to recharge its jump drive, their only possible hope for escape. Benajmin figures out that the dimension pod was showing signs of malfunction prior to the jump, which he thinks that Marley must have seen. He is puzzled as to why Marley chose to jump in this case. With only an 11-minute window for escape, the surviving crew soon find themselves in danger from the disturbing young man in his 20's (Peter Facinelli) they rescue (Karl launched a ship from the Titan's surface while the Nightingale was in orbit around the moon), and the mysterious alien artifact he has smuggled aboard. Kaela says the young man they rescued is not Karl. The man claims to be Troy, Karl's son, who he says died 3 years ago. Troy claims that he was scavenging the moon after the Govt left and was left stranded by his friends when they found nothing of value on the moon. But he reports that the moon has plenty of fuel for the Nightingale. He found the alien artifact when he was on the moon all alone. He plans to sell it to the Govt for a hefty profit and offers 5% each to the crew. But Nick says this can dangerous and plans to abandon the artifact in deep space, when they get out of their current situation with the blue star. Nick leaves on a shuttle to get fuel for the ship. Yerzy is fascinated with the artifact, while Troy seduces and has sex with Danika. The artifact is analyzed by the ship's computer and is said to contain nine-dimensional matter (The shell casing enclosing the matter is supposed to disperse it in all directions, resulting in the creation of new 3-dimensional matter. Kaela concludes its a bomb, but Sweetie says that it will replenish essential minerals in the 3 dimensional universe).. Kaela believes that an alien civilization has planted this device, so that an advanced civilization discovers it, takes it home, where it explodes and eliminates their competition. Troy cuts off Sweetie's communication with Nick, while Nick discovers many dead bodies inside the mining station. It is ultimately discovered (Sweetie matches with known the DNA records, when she can't ascertain Troy's identity as stated) that the young man who called for rescue is actually Karl Larson, an old former lover of Kaela (it is implied that he was abusive). Karl came into contact with the nine-dimensional matter after recovering the artifact. It somehow enabled him to acquire super-strength (his bones have strengthened themselves) and supernatural healing abilities, ability to read people's minds and made him younger (such that Kaela did not recognize him as Karl). Karl murders most of the crew (Danika is killed first when she finds Troy sabotaging Nick's shuttle. He kills Yerzy as he was getting stronger due to the closeness to the artifact. Benjamin discovers that Yerzy and Danika are missing and attacks Troy, who kills him) except Kaela and strands Nick on the mining platform (By flying the shuttle back to the Nightingale, remotely). Karl unsuccessfully attempts to romantically reconcile with Kaela. Nick finds his way back to the medical ship through a rescue pod left on the mining platform, and a battle ensues between Nick and Karl. Karl is ultimately killed by Kaela using explosives placed near the alien artifact which Karl was obsessed with retrieving. The explosion ejects the artifact into space, hurtling it towards the blue giant. With moments left before the dimension jump activates, Kaela and Nick place themselves into the only remaining dimensional stabilization chamber (Karl had destroyed all but one), which is the only thing that enables human beings to survive the ship's dimensional jump drive. The pods are meant to hold only one person; however, two subjects might be genetically mixed during the dimensional jump. Before Nick and Kaela enter the only remaining pod, the computer warns them that the nine-dimensional matter is reacting with the gravity of the blue giant sun and will cause a nine-dimensional reaction that will spread in all directions, such that the reaction's resulting supernova will reach Earth within 51 years. The computer hypothesizes that the reaction will either destroy life on Earth or "enable humankind to achieve a new level of existence". Just before the blue giant supernovas, the ship engages in a dimensional jump which brings Nick and Kaela back to Earth. As a result of their being in the same pod, the two of them each have one eye of the other person's original eye color. The ship's computer also reveals that Kaela is pregnant, which may be the result of them being in the pod together during the jump, or the result of their copulation hours earlier.

Of course, Molly's parents are not home, so the party is a free-for-all. Also at the party is Kenny Fisher, a.k.a. "Special K." Kenny is a short, white kid who acts like a black kid. He speaks the lingo and wears all the hip, urban clothes. Kenny used to be Denise's best friend in grade school, but he moved on when they got into middle school. He wanted to be a cool kid, so he left her behind and even harassed her in high school. Amanda's ex-boyfriend, Mike Dexter, is at the party as well. He decided to break up with Amanda because he'd soon be going off to college and having sex with all kinds of other girls. He tries to get his three best friends, all jock-types, to break up with their girlfriends, too. Another guy at the party is the school geek and misfit William Lichter. Poor William has been tortured and bullied for years by Mike. He's out for revenge as he and his nerdy friends plan to get Mike drunk and take naked pictures of him and his friends in a gay embrace. At the house party, Preston tries to get up the nerve to talk to Amanda, he leaves Denise on her own. We find that she hasn't really got any friends and no one at the party knows her. After realizing she doesn't belong, she decides to leave. But a brownie smacks her in the side of the head, so she has to seek a bathroom to clean up. Meanwhile, Kenny is determined to lose his virginity at the party and he's narrowed it down to 10 "lucky" finalists. Once he realizes that none of them want to get with him, he decides that anyone will do. He hears a girl say that she wanted to get back at her cheating boyfriend and she was going to sleep with the next guy who talked to her. 'Special K' takes advantage of overhearing the conversation and goes to freshen up in the bathroom. Unfortunately, there is a huge line, so he gets Molly to let him upstairs (where NO ONE is supposed to go) to use that bathroom. The doorknob is broken, so he shouldn't shut the door all the way. Kenny and Denise end up locked in the bathroom and we learn all about their past and get to see them reconcile. They eventually have sex and then get in an argument about it. Meanwhile, Preston is having a hard time talking to Amanda, who is being consoled by her airhead friends and hit on by every guy in the place. At one point, a friend embarrasses Preston in front of Amanda by talking about how he'd puked in his backpack years before. Mike meets up with a guy named Trip McNeely, who was a "sexual icon" in his high school years. Trip tells Mike that the biggest mistake he made was breaking up with his long-term girlfriend when he went to college because he thought he'd be getting with all kinds of girls there. Mike realizes he made a mistake with Amanda and tries to get back with her. She refuses him and in his humiliation he starts drinking heavily. William sees his opportunity, but is getting drunk himself. They spend time talking about things and Mike apologizes to William about being a jerk to him all these years. Amanda is talking to her cousin Ron about Mike, and Ron grabs her and kiss her. Preston goes inside with the letter just in time to see this scene. Heartbroken, he leaves. Amanda pushes Ron away, disgusted. Outside, a shattered Preston tosses the letter in the trash and heads home. Amanda sits down inside the house, wondering what is next. Preston's letter is knocked out of the trash and gets stuck to a girl's shoe. After being brought into the house, it ends up in front of Amanda. She reads it and melts. But she has no idea who Preston is. She goes home and begins tearing down the memories she had with Mike. Preston's letter helped her realize she was special and that she was worth much more than just being Mike's girlfriend. Also part of the story is the band scheduled to play during the party. They are excited that perhaps an acquaintance of a famous rocker may be there. As they begin to play, they have a fight about what some of the band members are wearing. Eventually, they decide to get back together, only as soon as they begin to finally play, the police show up to bust the party. When the cops show up at the party, it is way out of control. William tells Mike they have to get out of there and they run outside. Unfortunately, Mike runs to the pool house which is where William's nerdy friends are waiting to chloroform Mike and his buddies for the picture-taking. They ambush Mike and William and take gay pictures of them before they realize what they've done. Mike and William end up in jail. Denise is out walking home as Kenny drives up beside her. He says he's sorry for the fight they had and they make up and head to a diner for breakfast. Outside the diner, Denise goes to talk to Preston about what happened and he tells her Amanda didn't feel the same way. William wakes up in jail and learns from an officer that Mike has taken all the heat, saying he beat William up and took the naked pictures of him. The next morning, William heads to the diner to thank Mike, but Mike is acting like his old self again, telling William to get lost. Stung by Mike's betrayal, William walks out of the diner, vowing never to see or talk to Mike again. Preston goes home and the next day he heads to the train station to go off to school. Amanda finds him there and thanks him for the letter. They decide that since he's leaving, they can't be together. She says she should probably be alone for a while anyway. As she walks away, they both turn and run to each other. They decide to try to make it work long-distance. They write to each other every day and have never been happier. THE END.
