A group of friends (Jason (Justin Chatwin), Neal (Danny Masterson) (& his assistant Theresa (Ashley Greene)), Vick (Chris Geere), Joey (Alexis Knapp), Denise (Bar Paly), Danny (Nick Thune)) enters Man's nightclub, Volcano (On Eastman Island. The friends have gathered on the island for a reunion), where one of them, Jason (Justin Chatwin), is approached by one of the entertainers called the "Red Bastard". Xiomara (Kea Ho) is a dancer at the club. Jason follows the Red Bastard with the intention to buy party drugs from him or his employer. Jason is led to a back room of the club where the Man (Pierce Brosnan) is entertaining some guests. Upon Jason's arrival, the Man cryptically announces that they have been expecting Jason, only to burst out into laughter immediately afterward. After the others have left, the Man introduces Jason to his drug, a new creation called Urge. The Man explains that Urge is something different from normal party drugs - claiming that it is like a key to unlock what is hidden, it basically tones down a person's sense of morality and strips them of their inhibitions. As the Man continues to speak, Jason cuts him short, explaining his distaste for people who are talking too much. The Man then reveals that he knows private information of Jason's life. The Man then takes his leave, telling Jason that the Red Bastard will lead him out and will be the one to sell him the Urge. The Red Bastard provides Jason with the drug and also warns him that every person may only take the drug once in their lifetime. Jason seems unaffected by Urge, much to the surprise of the Red Bastard. Jason provides Urge to his friends who, after taking it, enjoy a wild evening of partying at the nightclub. The next day, Jason and his friends meet up to discuss their plans for the day. Jason's wealthy friend, Neal (Danny Masterson), tells them that he has planned an elaborate day of activities for the day. But the friends, having developed a liking for Urge, respond that they'd rather just go back to the nightclub and do Urge again. Neal relents and throws an Urge-fueled party at his home, also inviting people from the nightclub to join. But this time, inhibitions are not only numbed but completely deactivated. This leads to the night taking a dark turn (Neil dumps Theresa after having sex with her. Fights break out and people are having sex right out in the open) (Joey eats an entire cake. Denise forces Vick to have repeated sex with her, and then forces him to choke her and she dies. Theresa seduces Neil with lingerie and then binds him and proceeds to torture him), leading to various severe injuries and even multiple deaths. Furthermore, it is revealed that not only are Jason and his friends taking Urge, but the Man has provided the entire island with the drug. Jason later heads to a diner as he cannot be affected by Urge. While he sits down in a booth, the Man joins him. Jason claims that the Man is responsible for the chaos on the island caused by Urge, but the Man replies that he cannot be held accountable for other people taking drugs. He also reminds Jason that he tells every person who takes the drug that they are only allowed to use the drug once in their life. At that moment, Jason is distracted by a girl at the counter and when he looks back into his booth, the Man has vanished without a trace. Upon leaving the diner, Jason witnesses a man deliberately jumping in front of a truck in an apparent suicide attempt. Jason rushes him to a hospital where he realizes the true extent of the drug, dozens of people are brought in because of wounds caused under Urge influence. One man shoots a police officer at the hospital for no apparent reason in front of Jason, who flees the hospital. Urge eventually results in the entire island running amok while each person fulfills their deepest desires. Vick dies lifting heavy weights. Joey witnesses a parlor woman stabbing a customer with Botox needles. Niel kills himself when Jason comes home and unties him. Jason & Joey try to escape on a ferry but find Therese on the way. Danny stops all of them from leaving as he like it on the island, and not being treated badly by his friends. Danny stones Theresa to death after she insults him. Eventually, Jason and his last living friend, Joey (Alexis Knapp), escape the island via boat. Exhausted, both fall asleep immediately after boarding the ship. When Jason wakes up again, he finds the ship taken over by the Man and his cronies, including the Red Bastard. Jason disarms one of the men and heads upstairs where he confronts the Man at gunpoint. Jason demands to know why the Man plans to kill every person on the island, only for the Man to reply that he did not even lift a finger. Outraged, Jason demands to know whether the Man intends to play God and to smite the weak, only for the man to reveal that he is God, and that Jason will be the one to do the smiting. He claims that Jason will bring Urge to the mainland to eradicate humanity, a flawed creation, for good but Jason refuses. Furious, the Man shows Jason an apocalyptic vision of the future. Once Jason snaps out of the vision, the Man has once again disappeared without a trace. Jason returns downstairs and sits next to Joey, with the Man's cronies having vanished. The film ends with the boat headed towards the mainland. The back of the boat can be seen with two covered shipping containers that are pulsating and glowing with the same purple color as vials of the Urge drug, suggesting that significant quantities of the drug are being transported to the mainland. Although it is not shown what happens to Jason after the Man's disappearance, a post-credits scene shows an unidentified woman and her young son shopping in a seemingly abandoned supermarket. The son wanders away from his mother to uncover a darkened aisle of the supermarket filled with people mindlessly slaughtering and hurting each other, implying that the Man's plan was successful and that Urge has made its way beyond the island.

Julian Noble (Pierce Brosnan) wakes up in bed next to a hooker. He looks in her bag and discovers some purple nail varnish; he paints his toe nails and then burns some documents. Julian walks to a park and sits on a bench in Denver, pretending to read a paper. He keeps staring at a Porsche across the road. A young boy asks him if the Porsche is his car. He says his mom thinks Julian is cute. Julian rudely replies "I don't know anything about that car and I'm only interested in your mother if she lost 20 pounds and 30 years!" The boy goes away and Julian sees a man getting into the Porsche; he quickly gets up and walks away quickly. When the car explodes, Julian doesn't even bother to look. Elsewhere in Denver, Danny Wright (Gregg Kinnear) wakes up at 5:45AM with lightening and thunder breaking continually overhead during a terrible storm. He gets up quietly without waking his wife. He goes downstairs and eats breakfast when his wife, Bean (Hope Davis), comes down, wakened by the storm. They talk about how they will miss each other and Danny replies he will be back in just two days. They embrace and then start to undress for a quickie before he leaves for the airport. Suddenly a tree falls through their roof and they leap to the side before the tree crashes through their kitchen. Danny runs into the Denver airport out of the pouring rain. He meets his business partner. They talk about their upcoming trip and how important it is to their business. They can't afford to miss the plane to Mexico. Coincidentally, Julian is on the same flight. The ticket agent asks him how he is and, after looking at her cleavage for a lingering moment and at her name tag, he replies "Couldn't be better. But more importantly how are you Genevive?" After they arrive in Mexico City, a man walks into a hotel carrying a large metallic briefcase. Julian gets out a taxi and walks into the hotel and after checking in, goes into the hotel bar. The man joins him and orders a beer. They talk casually for a minute. Julian asks the bartender whether there are any good and bloody bullfights on on Sunday. The bartender replies there is a good one with a matador from Madrid. The bartender then asks Julian whether he is in town for business or pleasure. Julian replies "My business is my pleasure". before the man walks away, leaving the briefcase behind, next to Julian. Julian takes the suitcase up to his room and opens it. It contains a sniper rifle and pictures of his target. Danny and his partner are leaving the same hotel on the way to their meeting with a prospective client. They are both worried about their presentation. Julian leaves the hotel after them and goes into the city. He goes to a flea market stand where he target shoots in a booth. Three cute teen age school girls watch him. He smiles at them and scores on the first shot. When he misses the second shot. He smiles at the girls and then laughs. The girls giggle at him. Julian's boss, Mr. Randy (Phillip Baker Hall), meets him and describes the job. He remarks that the girls might be too pubescent even for him! His boss says the schedule has been moved up, and the job has to be completed today. Julian is unhappy. As his boss walks off he shouts back to Julian, "Happy birthday". Julian appears to ahve forgotten it is his birthday. Julian follows his target in the gun's scope from a high vantage point. He shoots the woman and kills her. Elsewhere, Danny and his partner walk joyfully into a bar, exclaiming about how brilliant their first pitch to the client went. Julian returns to his hotel room and watches TV, bored and lonely. He puts on a large Mexican sombrero and then takes it off, annoyed. He calls a number of people and they all hang up on him. He gets really annoyed and decides to head for the brothel. When he returns to the hotel he goes straight to the bar where Danny is also drinking. He orders a margarita and Danny says he looks like he needs one. Julian says how they always taste better in Mexico "margaritas and cock". They begin talking and Julian commends Danny for getting back on his feet with his new business deal after being fired from his job suddenly and left struggling. Julian says something rude and Danny is offended. Julian apologizes and they continue to talk. Danny tentatively reveals that he lost his son in an accident, and Julian responds with a crude joke about a "fifteen-inch schlong," changing the subject. Danny is deeply offended and begins to leave before Julian apologizes. Danny relents and allows Julian to buy him a drink. The next morning Julian walks through the hotel lobby in his tight swim trunks and boots, drinking a can of beer, drawing stares. He kicks off his boots and jumps in the swimming pool. Underwater, he imagines sharks are in the water. At the entrance to the hotel Danny and his partner are upset. The clients now want to hear pitches from other companies. They agree that Danny will remain behind and attempt to secure the contract. Julian sees Danny and apologizes for his rudeness the night before. He tells Danny that he lost his wife while driving drunk. Gaining Danny's sympathy, he invites Danny to a bullfight. Danny is initially reluctant but agrees to join him. At the bullfight they both smoke cigars. Danny is amazed by the experience. Julian tells Danny that he doesn't have a proper address, that he lives wherever he works. Danny is really suprised and asks what Julian does. Julian says he'd rather not say. Julian then explains to Danny the honour of a bull dying in a bull fight and that the crowd respects the bull. Danny finally persuades Julian to say what he does. Julian asks him to not "loose his shit" when he tells him what job he does. Julian says "sometimes people need to be eliminated. Danny does not believe it and jokes about Julian being a hitman. Julian says "my handler calls me a facilitator, a facilitator of fatalities." Danny finds this hilarious and does not believe him. Danny humours Julian and says he wants a man in the crowd killed. Julian agrees and they leave the bull ring. They go outside the toilets and Julian explains the "got-to-pee" theory. He tells Danny about what to and what not to worry about. He shows Danny the escape routes and picked a lock of a door. Danny is amazed. Julian then empties lighter fluid into a bin full of paper. The man Danny joked about killing got up and went into the toilets. Julian threw a cigarette into the bin and it exploded. The guards immediately ran to put it out. Julian dragged Danny away, pulled out a knife and dragged him into the toilets. He goes to the cubicle the man is in. Danny is now scared and begs Julian not to kill him. Julian kicks open the door his knife ready with Danny whimpering. He apologizes to the man and pulls Danny out of the toilets laughing. The two walk down the street together to a little bar. Julian asks Danny a favour. He wants Danny's help with a job and offers to pay $50 000. Danny is revolted by the idea and says no. He changes the subject but Julian changes it back. Danny still says no so Julian walks off in a mood, Danny calls him back and Julian just says "consider me the best cocktail party story you ever met". That evening Danny heard news that the business deal is now going against him. He sits drinking. Julian comes knocking on the door drunk trying to apologize. The screen goes black and you hear a bottle smash. The screen changes to six months later. There are short clips of Julian having sex, drinking and killing people in Vienna, Moscow, Las Vegas, and Sydney. The screen slows down in Budapest where he is meeting Mr Randy. Julian wants to have a break as he feels "burnt out" but Mr Randy said he can't otherwise the agency will find a new young assassin. Julian says he is tired and doesn't want to do that job. Mr Randy remarks about a failure in Manila but pleads with him to do that job. Julian reluctantly agrees and goes off to do it. He is on a roof above a crowded square and has his sights set on his target. He is about the pull the trigger when he sees himself cowering. he tries again but collapses. The screen changes to Mr Randy. He is speaking to the messenger of his boss Mr Stick. The messenger says Mr Stick wants Julian dead. Mr Randy is surprised and sad. He says he's only made two mistakes. The messenger walks off. The screen changes again but this time to Denver where Danny and Bean are having sex. All looks well. That evening they are in bed talking about how they love each other and support each other. Tomorrow is the fourth anniversary of their son's death. In the middle of their conversation the doorbell rings. It is late at night so they both run downstairs. Danny look out the door and sees Julian standing there. He lets Julian in and hugs him. He greets Bean and says she's fantastic. Danny asks Julian what he is doing there. Julian replies he doesn't know but Danny and Bean offer him some whisky. They sit down and talk. Julian notices the bull fight ticket framed and on the wall. Julian is touched by this. Bean asks to see Julian's gun. He shows it to her and comments "My god you are a magnificent woman!". Julian comments on how good Danny looks and understands that Danny got the job he went to Mexico for. Julian proposes a toast to Bean, Danny and himself ("a toast to a dead man"). The three move in to the kitchen and Julian explains how he messed up in Manila and how he was burnt out. He said he drank and had sex but nothing worked. He still felt terrible. He said he had to kill a Copper Wire Executive in a market. His plan was to bump into him and stab him. But as Julian got near to his target. The target turned into a child. He collapsed and woke up in a pile of donkey excrement. Julian then explained how his jobs from then were hot and cold. He explained his mistake in Budapest and said how his bosses now wanted to kill him. Danny is really amazed and asks can't he just apologize. Julian said it is impossible as he only just got out of Budapest alive because Mr Randy let him off. Bean then asked him how he got here. Julian tells her how their home is the only home he knows. That Danny is his only friend. Bean invites Julian to stay the night. Julian asks Danny whether he can dance with Bean. Danny obliges and Julian and Bean dance beautifully together. Bean then makes a comment about having a horrible hangover. Julian tells her a recipe to prevent this from "the only woman he'd ever loved" his mother. Danny then knows how Julian lied about his wife. There is a moment of tenseness between them. Julian asks whether they want him to leave but they say "No", so he stays. Julian wakes Danny up after they went to bed. He takes him into his rental car. Julian again says he needs Danny's help. He said he had been offered a reprieve from death but needed Danny's help to do it. He couldn't do the job on his own as he was burnt out. He needed Danny to help kill the target. At first Danny says no but after Julian says Danny owes him, he obliges. They flew to Arizona together to the race courses to kill the target. Julian gets Danny to open a door to set off the alarm so he could turn off the alarm in the future. He then asks Danny to bump into the target so Julian could have a clear shot. Julian is on the stairwell with a sniper rifle. Danny does his part but Julian is unable to take the shot he breaks down. Danny goes to find him and together they agree that Danny will talk Julian through firing. They are successful in killing the man. The screen then changes to the plane on the way home. Julian says thank you and Danny says it's ok. They talk about what happened the night where Julian was knocking on Danny's hotel room. There is a flashback and we discover what really happened. Danny let Julian in and they began talking. Danny asked Julian to kill his business opponents. Julian says no as he doesn't think Danny is that type of person and knows Danny will regret it. The flashback ends and they are back on the plane. Danny says " You became my friend that night Julian. You surprised me!" Julian replied "I surprised myself." Julian tells Danny that really he didn't do any assignment and that the person he killed was Mr Stick. Julian killed the guy that was trying to kill him. Bean and Danny, when he got back, went to the cemetery together and Julian after watching them for a while left leaving only a little piece of information showing that he was going to Greece!

New York City, Career orientated divorce attorney Audrey Woods (Julianne Moore) and her glamorous mother Sara Miller (Frances Fisher) pose as perspective buyers of a Manhattan townhouse belonging to the emperor of infomercials, Mr. Gary Harrison. Audrey is representing Harrison's wife, Mary (Brette Taylor), in the couples upcoming divorce, and has used this as an opportunity to take an inventory of the artworks that reside in the building. Over lunch with Sara, Audrey comes to the conclusion that Harrison is attempting to scam his wife out of her entitled settlement, as some of the assets accumulated during the marriage have not been accounted for. Audrey is subsequently blind-sided by the news that Harrison has hired a new attorney, Daniel Rafferty (Pierce Brosnan). Audrey expresses her concern over Daniel's lackadaisical approach (He was sleeping in court) and offers a settlement prior to the case being taken before the judge, Daniel declines and Audrey is perturbed. As the court is brought into session, Audrey is confident that female Judge Abramovitz (Nora Dunn), will look favorably upon their case as she is a fellow divorcee. However, some banter between Daniel and Abramovitz indicates that they are friends. Daniel reveals that the artwork, claimed unaccounted by Audrey, was actually donated by Mr. Harrison, with the consent of Mrs. Harrison to a prominent museum. The Judge awards him a week in continuance, as he needs time to investigate Mary Harrison's dealings, specifically those regarding her six-month retreat to a specialist clinic dealing in sexual addiction. Audery is dumb stuck. Later Audrey is invited to a Law Society event & Daniel reveals she is there only because he endorsed her invitation. He is attracted to her, but Audrey is repulsed by him. They both give speeches with Audrey taking a cold & calculating approach to divorce law but Daniel giving a heartfelt speech of the ethics of their profession. Audrey attempts to make Daniel lower his guard by apologizing to him, & Daniel takes him to dinner. Later that night, they have sex. The next day in court Audrey argues that the prenup agreement is not valid as Mary deserves more than that. Daniel reminds of her speech the previous night "Intimacy changes nothing, business is business". Judge Abramovitz intervenes, states how neither counsel has proved to provide any evidence that the prenuptial was flawed in any way, to which she decrees a dismissal of the case, Daniel wins. Audrey is angry at Daniel for using her panties (which he had in possession from the previous night) to unsettle her in court. This failure sparks Audrey's victory over Daniel in their second meeting concerning the failed marriage of a basketball star. We then speed through a successive number of court appearances in which our protagonists meet head on as opposing counsel, and again and again we witness how each gives as good as each other gets in a successive number of cases. With each judge who presides over their arguments becoming even more infuriated by the animosity between the pair. Serena is a hip designer married to rock star husband Therone Jamison. in a chance meeting Audrey realizes Serena is having marriage troubles & gives her her own business card. As Audrey celebrates with her partners, she finds Serena lunching with Daniel. Serena informs Audrey that she decided against hiring her, and she believes Daniel to be the more vicious of the two. Audrey confronts Daniel & accuses him of stealing Serena, but he refuses any such notion. Audrey takes Therone as her client. Both Thorne and Serena are ready to go to war over ownership of an Irish Castle that translated from its Gaelic name means 'Castle of Rock'. It is the only thing that either one of them wants out of the divorce, as both claims that it was their own decision to buy it. Daniel & Audrey are forced to go to Ireland for the depositions. They share a car & spend a night together when Daniel manages to wreck it. The next morning, the rivalry is back but none of the castle employees is of any use as they just agree with whatever Audrey or Daniel say. That night Audrey & Daniel get drunk & attend a local wedding & wake up married themselves. Frantic, Audrey wants the marriage annulled, she wants to tell the Priest that they didn't mean it. Daniel infers that he did. On their way back Audrey tells Daniel that she will file for divorce. He is not able to change her mind. The next day New York times carries a feature article on Daniel & Audrey wedding. They decide to act upon the appearance of their 'faux' marriage to save face. To create this effect, Daniel moves into Audrey's apartment. And as he settles in for a life of domestic bliss, he finds his bride attaching a lock to her bedroom door. Daniel & Audrey resume the Serena Therone case with judge Abramovitz presiding. While at home Daniel sees Audrey's notes & finds a receipt for $ 4 MM for a condo in Aspen Colorado. Back in court, Audrey questions Serena's alleged fidelity, but Daniel reveals that Thorne spent $4million dollars on a home for his Mistress in Aspen. Audrey is devastated, Daniel is ashamed that he stooped so low, Thorne is furious, and Serena is livid. Audrey demands a divorce. Daniel re-iterates that he loves Audrey. Sitting together, Sara comforts an emotional Audrey and reveals that it was in fact her that leaked the story to the press. In Judge Abramovitz's office, Audrey is informed that Thorne has absconded to Castle Rock. This is in breach of the court order concerning the property, and she gives her 48hours to bring him back. On arrival at the Castle, Audrey hears the screaming voices of Thorne and Serena, expecting the worst she bursts in on the pair, however she has interrupted them in the throes of passion. Now that all have been reunited Thorne calls out for his butler, Michael (David Kelly). Daniel and Audrey recognize Michael as the Priest from the anniversary festival, and it transpires that they were never really married. Daniel makes his excuses and swiftly leaves; Audrey starts to cry. Inspired by this new-found confidence in her love, Audrey, Serena, and Thorne jump into his Hummer 4x4 and chase after Daniel to catch him before he makes his return flight to NYC, unfortunately Audrey misses him, and books herself on the next flight back. Shopping in the Chinese store underneath his office a lonely Daniel makes his way through the aisle, he hears a forlorn Audrey making a plea to his heart, to fight to save their 'marriage'. As Daniel looks towards Audrey, we cut to Judge Abramovitz's office. Having reprimanded the pair for all the hassle they have caused her, she asks Daniel whether he takes Audrey to be his wife, she accepts, and he accepts her, they kiss. The happily married couple makes their way to a waiting limo, and once inside they consummate the union. The driver warns them that they better put up their windows, as there is a 79% chance of rain in the next half-hour; a piece of advice he freely gives, as like Audrey, he is also an avid viewer of the weather channel. Taking this as a good sign Audrey and Daniel start to laugh, as together, they could weather any storm.

MI6 agent James Bond (Pierce Brosnan) infiltrates a North Korean military base where Colonel Tan-Sun Moon (Will Yun Lee) is trading weapons for African conflict diamonds. The UN has banned trade in these diamonds as they are being used to fund wars. Bond hijacks a helicopter that was supposed to be delivering diamonds to the base in exchange for weaponry. Bond puts C4 explosives inside the diamond case before the helicopter landed. After Moon's right-hand man Zao (Rick Yune) receives notification of Bond's real identity, Moon attempts to kill Bond. Before practically destroying the military base, a hovercraft chase ensues, ending with Moon's craft tumbling over a waterfall. Bond is captured by North Korean soldiers and imprisoned by the Colonel's father, General Moon (Kenneth Tsang). After 14 months of captivity and torture at the hands of the Korean People's Army, Bond is traded for Zao in a prisoner exchange across the Bridge of No Return. He is sedated and taken to meet M (Dame Judi Dench), who informs him that his status as a 00 Agent has been suspended under suspicion of having leaked information under duress to the North Koreans. A top US agent in the North Korean high command had turned up dead during Bond's captivity and a prison communication named Bond as the source, leading MI6 to assume he had cracked. But Bond is convinced that he has been set up by a double agent in the British government. After escaping MI6 custody where he lowers his pulse and simulates a heart attack, he finds himself in Hong Kong, where he learns from Chang (Ho Yi), a Chinese agent and old colleague, that Zao is in Cuba. He asks Chang to get him to settle both their scores with Zao. In Havana, Bond meets with NSA agent Giacinta "Jinx" Johnson (Halle Berry) and follows her to a gene therapy clinic on a nearby island where patients can have their appearances altered through DNA restructuring. Jinx kills Dr. Alvarez (Simón Andreu), the leader of the therapy, while Bond locates Zao inside the clinic and fights him. Zao escapes in a helicopter, leaving behind a pendant which Bond discovers a cache of conflict diamonds bearing the laser signature of the company owned by British billionaire Gustav Graves (Toby Stephens). Bond learns that Graves only appeared a year prior, apparently discovering a vein of diamonds in Iceland leading to his current wealth and celebrity. At Blades Club in London, Bond meets Graves along with his assistant Miranda Frost (Rosamund Pike), who is also an undercover MI6 agent. After a fencing match that escalates into a claymore sword duel, Graves invites Bond to Iceland for a scientific demonstration. M restores Bond's Double-0 status, but warns him that the British Intelligence has other priorities and Q (John Cleese) issues him an Aston Martin V12 Vanquish with active camouflage. At his ice palace in Iceland, Graves unveils a new orbital mirror satellite Icarus, which is able to focus solar energy on a small area and provide year-round sunshine for agriculture. Frost seduces Bond in order to distract him during Jink's capture. Jinx infiltrates Graves's command center and is captured by Graves and Zao. As Zao is about to kill her with a laser weapon, Bond rescues her and discovers that Graves is Colonel Moon, who has used the gene therapy technology to change his appearance and amassed his fortune from conflict diamonds as a cover. Bond confronts Graves, but Frost arrives to reveal herself as the traitor who betrayed him in North Korea, forcing Bond to escape from Graves' facility. Though both Graves and Frost believe they killed Bond, he returns in his armed stealth Vanquish to rescue Jinx, who has been betrayed by Frost in the ice palace. As Graves uses Icarus to melt the ice palace, Zao pursues Bond into the palace using his Jaguar XKR with thermal imaging. Bond kills Zao by causing an ice chandelier to fall onto him and revives Jinx in Graves' hot springs after she has almost drowned. Bond and Jinx pursue Graves and Frost to the Korean peninsula and stow away on Graves' An-124 cargo plane. Graves reveals his identity to his father, and the true purpose of the Icarus satellite: to cut a path through the Korean Demilitarized Zone with concentrated sunlight, allowing North Korean troops to invade South Korea and unite the peninsula. Horrified that it would potentially trigger World War III with the United States, General Moon rejects the plan, but Graves murders him. Bond attempts to shoot Graves, but his aim is deflected by a soldier. His gunshot pierces the fuselage, causing the plane to decompress and descend rapidly. Bond and Graves engage in a fistfight, and Jinx attempts to regain control of the plane. Frost attacks Jinx, forcing her to defend herself in a sword fight. After the plane passes through the Icarus beam and is further damaged, Jinx kills Frost. Graves attempts to escape by parachute, but Bond opens the parachute, pulling Graves out of the plane and into one of its engines, disabling the Icarus beam. Bond and Jinx escape the disintegrating plane in a helicopter from the cargo hold with Graves's stash of diamonds, just achieving ignition before they reach the ground. At MI6 headquarters, Moneypenny (Samantha Bond) is using the agency's virtual reality glasses, while fantasying having a romantic moment with Bond but is interrupted by Q. Bond and Jinx have landed the helicopter near a secluded seaside Buddhist temple. Bond has covered her with handfuls of the confiscated diamonds as they enjoy a romantic evening together.

A tailor living in Panama reluctantly becomes a spy for a British Agent. John le Carré's spy thriller is brought to the big screen. A British spy is banished to Panama after having an affair with an ambassador's mistress. Once there he makes connection with a local tailor with a criminal past and connections to all of the top political and gangster figures in Panama. The tailor also has a wife, who works for the canal administrator, and a huge debt. The spy's mission is to learn what the President intends to do with the Panama Canal, but he's really in business for himself, blackmailing the tailor into spinning a fantastic tale about the canal being sold to China and former mercenaries ready to topple the current government. —John Sacksteder <jsackste@bellsouth.net>

Thieves infiltrate the Metropolitan Museum of Art inside an actual Trojan horse, preparing to steal an entire gallery of paintings, but are apprehended. In the confusion, billionaire Thomas Crown (Pierce Brosnan) - the crime's secret mastermind - steals Monet's painting of San Giorgio Maggiore at Dusk. NYPD Detective Michael McCann (Denis Leary) heads the investigation into the theft of the $100 million artwork, with the unwelcome assistance of insurance investigator Catherine Banning (Rene Russo). Banning says that according to McCann, the thieves shut off the AC to drive out the crowd from the museum (but they were themselves among the crowd). Plus, the theory of trying to steal 1000 pounds of artwork (plus 800 pounds of their own weight) doesn't seem plausible with a chopper that has a 600-pound effective load. There is also a mystery of a titanium briefcase that was used to keep open a specific gate of a section from where the Monet was stolen. Banning figures that the Monet section had thermal cameras. When the air was cut off, the temp rose so much that the entire camera feed was wiped off. But the rest of the sections were fine. She then figures that the desk in front of the Monet had 3 legs in the video and only 2 actually. (the 3rd leg was another briefcase placed by Thomas earlier in the day, in which he took the Monet home). Banning reckons that the bench briefcase also had a heater that increased the temp around the Monet more than the rest of the museum. Banning watches as Thomas comes in to identify the perpetrators. She interrogates one of them and figures that they were hired to conduct the robbery by a middleman. They were given schedules and timetables and everything. Banning thinks they were hired to create a diversion. Crown donates a Pissarro to fill the Monet's space in the museum and falls under Banning's suspicion. Banning meets Thomas and tells him that she suspects him of stealing the Monet. Thomas is intrigued and asks her out to dinner. She convinces McCann to begin surveillance of Crown, deducing that the wealthy playboy is motivated not by money but the sheer thrill of the crime. Banning accepts Crown's invitation to dinner. Before the date, Crown's therapist correctly guesses that he has found "a worthy adversary" in Banning. Before dinner Thomas takes Banning to the museum. Banning taunts Thomas by saying that personally she would have taken an irrelevant painting rather than the Monet (and points to the painting of a boat on a lake). At dinner, Banning has a copy of Crown's keys made; she and her team search his home and discover the Monet, which is revealed to be a taunting imitation, painted over a copy of Poker Sympathy from the Dogs Playing Poker series. Banning confronts Crown and the two give in to their mutual attraction, spending a passionate night together. Banning and Crown continue their cat-and-mouse game and their trysts, despite McCann's surveillance. Accompanying Crown on a trip to Martinique, Banning realizes he is preparing to run and rejects his offer to join him when the time comes. Banning is having full blown feelings towards Thomas but continues to look for clues for the missing Monet. After she returns, McCann presents Banning with photographs of Crown with another woman, Anna (Esther Cañadas), complicating her feelings toward the case and her prime suspect. when confronted Thomas maintained that he allowed himself to be photographed with Anna as he wanted to know Banning's true feelings towards him. Banning and McCann discover that the fake Monet is in fact an expert forgery that could only have been painted by someone with access to the original; they visit the likeliest forger in prison, to no avail, although his attitude suggests to them that he recognizes the work. Later, Banning finds Crown packing his belongings with Anna. He promises Banning his interest lies with her alone, stating that Anna works for him, but he would be compromising her to define the nature of their association, and offers to return the Monet, giving her a time and place to meet him when he's finished. Tearfully, Banning leaves and informs McCann. The following day, the police stake out the museum, waiting to arrest Crown. Banning learns that the fake Monet was painted by Anna; the imprisoned forger is her father, a partner of Crown, who became her guardian. Crown arrives but quickly blends into the crowd, aided by lookalikes in bowler hats a la Magritte's The Son of Man. Evading police, Crown sets off the museum's fire sprinklers. His donated Pissarro, hanging in the Monet's place, is washed clean by the sprinklers to reveal the real Monet. Crown's plan is made clear; upon stealing the Monet, Crown had Anna forge the Pissarro over it, and "returned" it to the museum. However, Crown has now vanished with another painting (the one that Banning had pointed to early on), but Banning's employer and McCann consider their case closed as this painting is not covered by Banning's employer. Banning races to meet Crown but finds only the missing painting. Devastated, she sends the painting to McCann, and boards a plane back to London. Taking her seat, she finds Crown sitting behind her and the two are passionately reunited.

In Bilbao, MI6 agent James Bond (Pierce Brosnan) meets a Swiss banker to retrieve money for Sir Robert King (David Calder), a British oil tycoon and friend of M (Dame Judi Dench). Bond interrogates the banker as to the identity of someone who killed an MI6 agent (from whom the money was stolen in the first place. The money was paid by King in exchange for a report that King thought identified terrorists trying to destroy his oil pipeline. But the report turns out to be from the Russian nuclear commission, but the banker is killed and Bond forced to escape. Some unknown assassin helps him escape with the money before he can learn. At the MI6 headquarters in London, the money is revealed to be laced with explosives that kills King (explosive is triggered by a lapel on King's coat). Bond chases the assassin by boat on the Thames to the Millennium Dome, where she attempts to escape via hot air balloon. Bond offers her protection in exchange for the name of the real person behind King's murder, but she refuses and blows up the balloon at the cost of her life. Basically Bond delivered the explosives right to King. Bond has a dislocated collar bone due to the incident, a secret which was known to select people in MI6. Bond traces the recovered money to Renard (Robert Carlyle), a former KGB agent turned high-tech terrorist. Years ago, Renard kidnapped Elektra King (Sophie Marceau) in exchange for a massive ransom demand. The ordeal resulted in a failed assassination attempt by MI6 after M advised King not to pay the ransom, and left Renard with a bullet lodged in his brain which renders him impervious to pain as well as slowly killing off his other senses. Before the events of the film, he was spotted operating in some very politically dangerous countries in the world including but most likely not limited to Afghanistan, Moscow, Russia, Bosnia, Iraq, Iran, Beirut, Cambodia and Pyongyang to start funding his anarchist terrorist operation. Renard now seeks revenge on both the King family and MI6 for his death sentence, as the bullet will kill him when it reaches the center of his brain, a KGB agent-turned-terrorist. The amount recovered by Bond was exactly the amount of the ransom demand by Renard for Elektra. M assigns Bond to protect King's daughter, Elektra King; Bond flies to Azerbaijan, where Elektra is overseeing the construction of an oil pipeline. During a tour of the pipeline's proposed route in the mountains, Bond and Elektra are attacked by a hit squad in armed, para-glider-equipped snowmobiles. Q (Desmond Llewelyn): MI6's "quartermaster" (Last appearance). R (John Cleese): Q's assistant and appointed successor. A humorous James Bond refers to him as "R": "If you're Q....does that make him R?" Bill Tanner (Michael Kitchen): M's Chief of Staff. Miss Moneypenny (Samantha Bond): M's secretary. Bond visits Valentin Zukovsky (Robbie Coltrane) at a casino (where Elektra loses $1MM to Zukovsky in a card game) to acquire information about Elektra's attackers from whom Bond had recovered a parachute branded with Russian Atomic Center, Anti-terrorism Unit. After losing, Elektra says "There is no point in living, if you can feel alive." After seducing Electra, Bond discovers that Elektra's head of security, Sasha Davidov (Ulrich Thomsen), is secretly in league with Renard. Bond kills Davidov and boards a plane bound for a Russian ICBM base in Kazakhstan. Posing as a Russian nuclear scientist, Bond meets American nuclear physicist Christmas Jones (Denise Richards). Jones is at the base removing weapons-grade plutonium from bombs and helps defusing them. Bond is taken underground to inspect the work done so far, to certify it. He finds Renard working in the underground chambers. When confronted Renard tells Bond that he spared Bond's life at the banker's office since Bond was delivering the money on Renard's behalf. Renard distracts Bond with the threat of killing Elektra, and utters the same words that Elektra said to Bond at the Casino. Renard escapes when Jones identifies Bond as a fraud and is attacked by the Russian forces protecting the base. Renard also knew exactly where Bond's shoulder was unhealed. Renard removes the GPS locator card and weapons-grade plutonium from a nuclear bomb. Renard steals the bomb and flees, leaving everyone to die. Bond and Jones escape the exploding silo with the locator card. Back in Azerbaijan, Elektra has called M to take charge when Renard strikes her pipeline. Bond discloses to M that Elektra may not be as innocent as she seems. He suggests that Elektra was the insider who switched the pins on her own father, and hands her the locator card as proof of the theft: an alarm sounds, revealing that the stolen bomb from Kazakhstan is attached to an inspection rig heading towards the oil terminal. The inference being Renard is detonating the nuke in Elektra's pipeline at the behest of the Russians, who have three competing pipelines and would be happy to see her's go away. Bond and Jones enter the pipeline to deactivate the bomb, and Jones discovers that half of the plutonium is missing. They both jump clear of the rig and a large section of the pipe is destroyed. Bond and Jones are presumed killed. Back at the command center, Elektra reveals that she killed her father as revenge for using her as bait for Renard. She abducts M, whom she resents for advising her father not to pay the ransom money. Bond accosts Zukovsky at his caviar factory in the Caspian Sea as he wants to know what did Elektra pay him for at the casino, and they are attacked by Elektra's helicopters. Zukovsky's henchman Bull was secretly working for Elektra and alerts her. Zukovsky reveals his arrangement with Elektra was in exchange for the use of a submarine captained by Zukovsky's nephew, Nikolai. The group goes to Istanbul, where Jones realizes that if Renard were to insert the stolen plutonium into the submarine's nuclear reactor, the resulting nuclear meltdown would destroy Istanbul, sabotaging the Russians' oil pipeline in the Bosphorus. Elektra's pipeline is planned to go around Istanbul, dramatically increasing the value of her own oil. Bond gets a signal from the locator card (which he had given to M) from the Maiden's Tower - just before Zukovsky's henchman Bull (Goldie) blows up the command center. Zukovsky is knocked unconscious, and Bond and Jones are captured by Elektra's henchmen. Jones is taken aboard the submarine, which was seized by Renard's men. Bond is taken to the tower, where Elektra tortures him with a garrote device. Elektra reveals that when her father refused to pay ransom, she seduced Renard and turned him to work for her. Zukovsky and his men seize the tower, but Zukovsky is shot by Elektra. The dying Zukovsky uses his cane gun to free Bond. Bond frees M and kills Elektra. Bond dives after the submarine, boards it and frees Jones. He wants to surface the submarine, but Renard attacks and destroys the controls and the submarine sinks instead. The submarine's hull ruptures as it bottoms in the Bosphorus. Bond fights Renard and kills him. Bond and Jones escape from the submarine, leaving the flooded reactor to detonate underwater. Later, Bond and Jones share a romantic evening in Istanbul and end up in bed together which is being monitored by MI6 satellites.

Sir Lionel (Gabriel Byrne) is a knight of the Round Table who is killed foiling an assassination attempt on King Arthur (Pierce Brosnan) by the evil lord Ruber (Gary Oldman). Ruber wanted new lands for himself and Arthur refuses to grant his demands. Ruber challenges Arthur at the round-table and says that he has supported Arthur for many years and his needs are greater than everyone else's. Arthur replies that as Knights they need to serve the people and not themselves. Ruber says that it is time for a new King and attacks Arthur. Lionel tries to stop Ruber but is injured in the attack and later dies from his wounds. Ruber is then driven off by Excalibur, Arthur's sword. At Lionel's funeral, Arthur tells Lionel's daughter Kayley (Jessalyn Gilsig) and his wife Juliana (Jane Seymour) that they will always be welcome at Camelot. Kayley dreams of becoming a Knight, like her father, and trains herself while working on their farm. Kayley was inspired with Lionel's tales of the Excalibur and how it united the lands and its peoples. Lionel told her that before the Excalibur, the people were divided, and Excalibur was the only hope. Only a true king could pull this magical sword from its stone. Many tried and failed. Kayley was born on the same day as Arthur pulled the sword out of stone. England prospered as a nation under Arthur and Excalibur, and they built the greatest Kingdom on Earth. The 3 rings of Camelot represent the Unity of the Kingdom. Lionel had promised that one day when she was old enough, he would take her to Camelot. A decade later, Ruber's Griffin (Bronson Pinchot) attacks Camelot, where he steals Excalibur and injures King Arthur. Arthur orders his guards to alert Merlin. Merlin's (Sir John Gielgud) pet falcon, Ayden (On Merlin's orders), attacks the Griffin, causing it to drop the sword into the Forbidden Forest. The Griffin is driven away by the forest's sentient trees who try to attack the Griffin as it comes closer to the canopy of the forest. The guards of Camelot send out an audio signal indicating that the Excalibur has been stolen. When Kayley hears news of this, she plans to search for Excalibur herself, which displeases her mother. Kayley is not satisfied with her domestic life, and she yearns for a life of a Knight. Ruber turns his henchmen into steel men and a henpecked rooster into Bladebeak (Jaleel White) using a witch's potion to aid him. As a result, the men are fused with the weapons that they were holding in their hands and their bodies converted to steel. He attacks the farm and captures Kayley, planning to use her to gain entry to Camelot. Ruber knows that Arthur will open the gates for Kayley & Juliana (while his men hide inside the wagons) and that's when Ruber and his men will come out of hiding and enter Camelot. After hearing Ruber's plans & learning from the Griffin that the Excalibur was dropped in the Forbidden Forest, Kayley escapes and heads to the forest, pursued by the Griffin, steel men and Bladebeak. Garrett (Cary Elwes), a blind hermit, and Ayden (Frank Welker) (Merlin's pet falcon), save her. They decide to search for Excalibur, and Kayley persuades him to let her join the quest after she sees that the forest obeys Garrett and that he is one with the natural forces. They meet a wisecracking two-headed dragon named Devon (Eric Idle) and Cornwall (Don Rickles), whose two heads can't stand each other and dream of being separated and can neither fly nor breathe fire. They fight off another attack from Ruber and his henchmen, and Devon and Cornwell join their quest. Garrett reveals he was once King Arthur's stable boy, who wanted to be a Knight. He was kicked in the head while saving the King's horses from a fire, causing his blindness. Following the accident, Sir Lionel still believed in Garrett and trained him personally. Garrett teaches Kayley more about the forest, including the existence of magical healing plants. The next day, they find the belt and scabbard of Excalibur in a giant footprint. Kayley's insistent talking distracts Garrett causes him to miss Ayden's signal, and he is injured by one of Ruber's men. Kayley uses the sentient trees to trap Ruber and his men, and escorts Garrett into a remote cave where the magic of the forest heals Garrett's wounds. While in the cave, Kayley and Garrett profess their love for each other. The next day, the group goes into a giant cave where a rock-like Ogre holds Excalibur, using it as a toothpick. They snatch Excalibur and flee from Ruber in the process. They reach the edge of the forest where Garrett says he belongs here, not in Camelot, and gives Kayley the Excalibur. Ruber captures Kayley, takes Excalibur and fuses it with his right arm. He imprisons Kayley in the wagon with her mother Juliana. Devon and Cornwall, who witness this, rush to Garrett and convince him to save Kayley. By working together for the first time, Devon and Cornwall are able to fly and breathe fire, and they fly Garrett to Camelot. Bladebeak reconciles with his constantly henpecking hen and frees Kayley from her ropes, and she warns the guards of Ruber's trap, exposing him and his steel men. Garrett, Devon and Cornwall arrive shortly after and come to her aid. Garrett enters the castle while Devon and Cornwall rescue Ayden from the Griffin by breathing fire at the creature, roasting it to death. Inside, Kayley and Garrett find Ruber attempting to kill Arthur with Excalibur, gloating about how all-powerful he has become now. They intervene and trick Ruber into returning Excalibur to its stone, causing its magic to disintegrate Ruber, revert the steel men, including Bladebeak, back to normal and temporarily separate Devon and Cornwall, but they decide to end up back together again. Later, with Camelot restored to its former glory, Kayley and Garrett marry and both become Knights of the Round Table. The newlyweds ride off into the distance together on their horse.

Initially, Crusoe is thrilled to finally have a friend, but he has to defend himself against the tribe who uses the island to sacrifice tribesmen to their gods. MI6 sends James Bond (Pierce Brosnan), agent 007, into the field to reconnoiter a terrorist arms bazaar on the Russian border. Despite M's insistence on letting 007 finish his reconnaissance, Royal Navy Admiral Roebuck (Geoffrey Palmer) orders the frigate HMS Chester to fire a Harpoon missile at the bazaar. Bond then discovers two nuclear torpedoes mounted on an L-39 Albatros, and is forced to pilot the L-39 away seconds before the bazaar is destroyed by the missile because the missile is out of range to be aborted. Media baron Elliot Carver (Jonathan Pryce) starts his plans to use an encoder obtained at the bazaar by his henchman, Cyber-terrorist Henry Gupta (Ricky Jay), to provoke war between China and the UK. Meaconing the GPS signal using the encoder, Gupta sends the frigate HMS Devonshire off-course into Chinese-occupied waters in the South China Sea, where Carver's stealth ship, commanded by Mr. Stamper (Götz Otto), ambushes it - sinking it in the process - and steals one of its missiles, while shooting down a Chinese J-11 fighter jet investigating the scene and killing off the Devonshire's survivors with weaponry loaded with Chinese ammunition. The British Minister of Defence (Julian Fellowes) orders Roebuck to deploy the fleet to investigate the sinking of the frigate, and demands retaliation, leaving M only 48 hours to investigate its sinking and avert a war. Q (Desmond Llewelyn), MI6's gadget-master. Miss Moneypenny (Samantha Bond), M's personal secretary. M (Judi Dench) sends Bond to investigate Carver because MI6 became suspicious of him after he releases news articles about the crisis hours before the Vietnamese government had learned of it. Also British station in Singapore picked a signal on the GPS frequencies coming from one of Carver's satellites. Bond travels to Hamburg to seduce Carver's wife, Paris (Teri Hatcher), who is also an ex-girlfriend of Bond's from many years before, to get information that would help him enter Carver's newspaper headquarters. He defeats three of Stamper's men (After Carver orders his men to take Bond away and make him "uncomfortable") and cuts Carver off the air during the inaugural broadcast of his satellite network. Meanwhile, at Bond's hotel room, he and Paris reconcile (Carver had Paris followed. Later Henry tells Carver that Bond is a Gov't agent). The next day, she provides him with the information he needs to infiltrate Carver's newspaper factory to recover the GPS encoder. Carver then discovers the truth about Paris and Bond (Henry shows him a clip of both talking about old times at Carver's party) and orders both of them killed. Bond goes to the newspaper factory and steals the encoder. While he is gone, Carver's assassin Dr. Kaufman (Vincent Schiavelli) kills Paris. After Bond returns to find Paris' body, Kaufman attempts to shoot him. Bond is able to kill Kaufman and escape (in his remote-controlled BMW), protecting the encoder. At a U.S. Air Force base in Okinawa (where he meets Jack Wade (Joe Don Baker), CIA liaison), Bond learns that the encoder had been tampered with (which sent the Devonshire off course into Chinese waters, without knowing it), and goes to the South China Sea to investigate the wreck (which was actually in Vietnamese waters). He and Wai Lin (Michelle Yeoh), a Chinese Ministry of State Security agent on the same case, explore the sunken ship and discover one of its cruise missiles missing, but after reaching the surface they are captured by Stamper and taken to the CMGN tower in Saigon. They soon escape (They were handcuffed together. They slide down a Carver poster that ran across the height of the building and then steal a motorcycle and ride it in tandem to get away from Carver's goons) and decide to collaborate on the investigation. The two contact the Royal Navy and the People's Liberation Army Air Force to explain Carver's scheme; Carver plans to destroy the Chinese government with the stolen missile, allowing a Chinese general (on Carver's payroll) to step in and stop the war between Britain and China, both of which have waged a naval war. Once the conflict is over, Carver will be given exclusive broadcasting rights in China for the next century. Finding Carver's stealth ship (They figure the stealth ship was built by the Chinese general, working for Carver and so must be hidden in a port controlled by him), they board it to prevent him from firing the missile at Beijing (as it sails to position itself between the navies of China and Britain). During the attempt, Wai Lin is captured (while planting bombs on Carver's ship), forcing Bond to devise a second plan. Bond captures Gupta to use as his own hostage, but Carver kills Gupta claiming he has "outlived his contract." Bond detonates an explosive that damages the ship, rendering it visible to the Chinese and British navies' radars, and vulnerable to a subsequent Royal Navy attack. While Wai Lin disables the engines, she is recaptured by Stamper. Bond kills Carver with his own sea drill and attempts to destroy the warhead with detonators, but Stamper attacks him, and sends a chained Wai Lin into the water. Bond traps Stamper in the missile firing mechanism and saves Wai Lin as the missile explodes, destroying the ship and killing Stamper. Bond and Wai Lin share a romantic moment in the middle of the wreckage as HMS Bedford searches for them.

May 10th, 1996. Earth is visited by a massive fleet of thousands of flying saucers from Mars. President of the United States James Dale (Jack Nicholson) addresses the people of the United States. General Decker wants to go to war, but General Casey argues that there is no conclusive evidence of the aliens visiting with hostile intentions. Donald Kessler the scientific advisor also argues that an advanced civilization, by definition, is not barbaric. Jerry Ross (Martin Short) is Dale's Press Secretary, who is shown to hire prostitutes to satisfy his sexual desires. Talk show host Nathalie Lake (Sarah Jessica Parker) and her boyfriend, news reporter Jason Stone (Michael J. Fox), attempt to capitalize on the developing story with an interview with Dale's scientific advisor Professor Donald Kessler (Pierce Brosnan) on May 11th, which is unexpectedly interrupted by a broadcast from the Martian leader. Kessler admits to Nathalie that he has feelings for her. As the Martians prepare to land outside Pahrump, Nevada, on May 13th numerous people around the country react, including donuts shop employee Richie Norris (Lukas Haas) and his older brother Billy-Glenn (Jack Black), flamboyant casino operator Art Land (Jack Nicholson) (owner of the Galaxy casino) and his hippie wife Barbara (Annette Bening), divorced ex-boxer Byron Williams (Jim Brown) and his former wife Louise (Pam Grier), and Byron and Louise's children Cedric (Ray J) and Neville (Brandon Hammond). Billy volunteers for the army. Richie is asked by his parents to drop his grandmother to her retirement home. Byron works as a prop in a casino in Vegas and Louise is a public bus driver in Washington DC. Byron is looking to take leave to go back to his family in Washington. Barbara is a climate activist and believes that the Martians have come to save the planet. Against the advice of the hawkish General Decker (Rod Steiger), Dale chooses to greet the Martians as foreign dignitaries, ordering military officer General Casey (Paul Winfield) to welcome them to Earth. General Casey never really voices any opinion, and just stands there waiting for things to happen to him, which has been the secret to his success. Billy-Glenn, a private in the US Army, is among the soldiers who volunteers to accompany Casey as he greets the Martians in Nevada. The Government had developed a translator to help in communicating with the Martians. Despite the translated message from the Martian ambassador stating that the Martians "come in peace", the ambassador sees a hippie release a dove into the air and kills it with his ray gun. The Martians then turn on the assembled crowd and attack them with their ray guns, killing Casey, Jason, and Billy-Glenn, and abducting Nathalie and her pet chihuahua Poppy. Kessler convinces Dale that the Martians' attack in Nevada may have been the result of a cultural misunderstanding, and Dale agrees to let the Martian ambassador address Congress after the Martians issue a formal apology for their actions. Meanwhile, the Martians are shown to be laughing maniacally on their flying saucers, while conducting experiments on the captured humans and other life forms. Once again, the Martians turn on the assembled humans, massacring most of Congress and abducting Kessler. While Nathalie and Kessler are held captive in the Martian mothership, the Martians switch Nathalie and Poppy's heads and reduce Kessler to a disembodied head. Dale still refuses to launch nuclear weapons at the Martians, even though General Decker insists that they are already at war. Dale narrowly survives an assassination attempt by a Martian disguised as an attractive blonde woman (Lisa Marie), who infiltrates the White House by seducing and killing his press secretary, after he mistakes the Martian for a prostitute and gives her entry into the White House. Following the assassination attempt, the Martians commence a full-scale invasion of Earth, attacking major cities throughout the world. When Martian soldiers overrun the White House, First Lady Marsha (Glenn Close) Dale is killed by a falling chandelier as President Dale escapes to the PEOC. Cedric and Neville were at the White House as part of a public tour, and they pick up the alien guns and start shooting back to allow the President to escape. Art is killed when the Martians destroy his casino in Las Vegas. In Las Vegas, Barbara prepares to flee to Tahoe in Art's private plane and offers to let Byron accompany her. They are joined by Byron's co-worker Cindy (Janice Rivera) and guest singer Tom Jones, who offers to pilot the plane. Meanwhile, Richie abandons his parents Glenn (Joe Don Baker) & Sue-Ann (O-Lan Jones) in their mobile home and goes to his grandmother Florence's (Sylvia Sidney) retirement home to escort her to safety, leaving his parents to be killed by a Martian piloting a giant robot. At the retirement home, the Martians' brains explode when they hear Florence's record of Slim Whitman's yodeling on "Indian Love Call", revealing one of their only weaknesses. Eventually, Martian soldiers breach Dale's secure bunker, crushing Decker after reducing him to minuscule size with a shrink ray, then leveling their weapons on everyone else in the bunker, causing many to be killed while others flee the bunker, leaving Dale the last alive in the room. He makes an eloquent, impassioned speech exhorting the Martians to make peace with humanity, but the now teary-eyed Martian leader kills him with a fake-hand-prank device after offering a handshake. Barbara, Byron, Cindy, and Jones reach Art's plane, but find the runway overrun by a group of Martians led by the Martian ambassador. To buy time for his companions to escape, Byron steps forward to challenge the ambassador to a boxing match and beats him to death before being seemingly overrun by Martians as the plane takes off. Around the world, the Martians are defeated as humans play "Indian Love Call" to destroy them, resulting in Kessler, Nathalie and Poppy's death as the ship they are on crashes. In the aftermath of the war with the Martians, the Dales' teenage daughter Taffy (Natalie Portman) awards the Medal of Honor to Richie and Florence. In Washington, D.C., Byron-who survived his encounter with the Martians-walks up to Louise's home to greet his family. In Tahoe, Barbara, Cindy, and Jones emerge unharmed from a cavern.

In 1986, James Bond (Pierce Brosnan) and Alec Trevelyan (Sean Bean), MI6 agents 007 and 006, infiltrate a Soviet chemical weapons facility in Arkhangelsk, with Bond performing a bungee jump to gain access to the facility and meet Trevelyan there. Before their infiltration, Trevelyan asks, "For England?" and Bond answers, "For England." Later, Bond witnesses Trevelyan being caught by the facility's commanding officer, Colonel Arkady Grigorovich Ourumov (Gottfried John). Ourumov then orders Bond to surrender. Bond remains behind a trolley of chemicals as he moves. When he emerges again, a soldier who nervously fires at him is shot by Ourumov. Bond walks out to surrender just as Ourumov appears to execute Trevelyan, then Bond releases several cylinders of chemicals. In the middle of the resulting confusion, Bond resets the charge timers from six minutes (as discussed with Alec earlier) to three, leaves the facility and attempts to escape in a plane. The plane is attacked by soldiers, but Bond is able to escape by grabbing one of the soldiers' Cagiva motorbikes, dropping off a cliff in it and re-entering the falling plane. As Bond steers the plane away from the cliffs, the bombs go off and destroy the site. Nine years later, following the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Bond is undergoing an assessment by Caroline (Serena Gordon), an MI6 psychological and psychiatric evaluation doctor, while driving an Aston Martin DB5 in the hills above Monte Carlo when he is pursued by a woman driving a Ferrari F355. After the chase ends, Bond seduces Caroline. That evening, Bond sees the Ferrari outside the casino in Monte Carlo. Bond enters the casino and ends up playing baccarat against the Ferrari's driver. She wins the first hand against Bond, but after he raises the stakes, the luck turns Bond's way. Bond watches from a distance as the women returns to a boat and takes some pictures of her that he sends back to London. He receives a print-out and a message from M's secretary, Miss Moneypenny (Samantha Bond) after they identify the woman as Xenia Onatopp (Famke Janssen), a Georgian fighter pilot, a member of the Janus crime syndicate and a sadistic lust murderer. Bond is assigned to observe Onatopp and investigate her involvement in a demonstration of the Eurocopter Tiger, a French hi-tech attack helicopter which is invulnerable to an electromagnetic pulse (EMP). Later that night, Onatopp has a sexual relationship with a Canadian Air Force captain who is piloting the Tiger at the demo. She kills him by crushing his chest between her thighs, and his ID card is taken by Ourumov, who has now risen to the rank of General. On the day of the military demonstration, General Ourumov and Onatopp use the stolen ID card to gain access to the ship where the demo is taking place. They kill another of the Tiger's pilots and take his place. Bond discovers the body of the Canadian Air Force pilot while investigating the boat on which he had seen Onatopp. Realizing their plan, Bond takes a boat to the demonstration but is too late to prevent the Tiger's theft. Returning to London, Bond oversees MI6 staff including Bill Tanner (Michael Kitchen), M's chief of staff, as they monitor a Space Weapons Control facility in Severnaya, Siberia, after the stolen helicopter turns up there. Ourumov and Onatopp attack the facility, where Ourumov aims a weapon in space at the control facility to erase all evidence of his theft of the satellite access controls for a second similar weapon. An EMP blast suddenly hits the site as the first weapon is deployed, destroying the facility and three Russian fighter jets sent to investigate a distress call emanating from the facility, and knocking out all satellite systems in orbit above it. Ourumov and Onatopp use the Tiger, which is unaffected by the EMP blast, to escape. A systems programmer named Boris Grishenko (Alan Cumming) conspires with Ourumov and Onatopp, and he also escapes the facility. In the London MI6 office, the newly appointed female M (Judi Dench's first appearance) assigns Bond to investigate after MI6 determine the blast came from a Soviet-era satellite armed with a nuclear EMP space-based weapon, code-named "GoldenEye." Although Janus is suspected of initiating the attack, Bond thinks that Ourumov has some involvement due to the weapon system requiring high-level military access. After the monitoring signal in London is restored, it picks up one sign of life of which General Ourumov is unaware. Meanwhile, Russian Minister of Defence Dimitri Mishkin (Tchéky Karyo) hauls in Ourumov for questioning over the Severnaya incident. For Bond's investigation, Q (Desmond Llewelyn) provides him with a new BMW Z3 roadster and a pen that when clicked three times will arm a grenade inside it, which can be disarmed if it is clicked three more times. Traveling to Saint Petersburg, Bond is advised by his CIA contact Jack Wade (Joe Don Baker) to meet former KGB agent-turned-gangster Valentin Zukovsky (Robbie Coltrane) and have him arrange a meeting with Janus. Escorted to the meeting by Onatopp, Bond discovers that Janus is led by Trevelyan, who faked his execution at Arkhangelsk and now carries a scar as a result of the attack there, and learns that Trevelyan is seeking revenge for the deaths of his parents, who were Lienz Cossacks, who collaborated with the Axis powers against communists in the Second World War, then surrendered to the British at the end of the war with a promise of citizenship, but were repatriated to the Soviet Union and were tortured and killed for their betrayal of communists. Trevelyan's parents survived the Soviet purge but killed themselves out of shame. Trevelyan has Bond sedated and bound to a chair in the stolen Tiger. When he comes to, he finds that there is a woman with him, Natalya Simonova (Izabella Scorupco). She is the other survivor of the Severnaya attack picked up by the monitors in London, having worked at the facility as a programmer. After escaping from Severnaya, Natalia was able to contact Boris from a computer shop and make plans to meet him, but the place where they agree to meet was where she was similarly sedated before being put in the Tiger by Ourumov, who wants to cover his tracks against Mishkin. Bond activates the Tiger's eject mechanism before the helicopter is destroyed by its own missiles, then he and Natalya are captured by Russian troops and taken before Dimitri Mishkin (Tchéky Karyo) for interrogation. In the heated argument between Bond and Mishkin, Natalya affirms that Ourumov was involved in the use of GoldenEye on Severnaya and Boris also survived the attack and is now working for Janus in operating a second GoldenEye satellite. Before Mishkin can act on the information, Ourumov arrives, kills him and captures Natalya. Bond escapes, commandeers a T-55 tank and uses it to pursue Ourumov and Natalya across St Petersburg. The chase leads to a missile train used by Janus, which Bond is able to derail by firing the tank's gun at the tracks. Bond boards the train and finds Trevelyan, Natalya and General Ourumov. Bond aims his gun at Ourumov, but Trevelyan holds a weapon to Natalya's back and gives Bond the choice between killing Ourumov or saving the girl. Bond tells Ourumov that Trevelyan is a Lienz Cossack, turning Ourumov against Trevelyan. Bond uses the distraction to shoot Ourumov before Trevelyan traps Bond and Natalya inside the train and gives him six minutes to leave it, "the same six minutes you gave me," which Bond understands as code that he actually has only three minutes, referring to what he did at Arkhangelsk. Natalya finds an internet connection on the train and uses a "spike" to track Boris to the jungles of Cuba before the program is terminated. She and Bond then escape from the train using his gadget watch before the bomb destroys it. Bond and Natalya travel to Cuba. In a small plane borrowed from the DEA, while flying over a lake in the area, the pair are shot down. After they crash land, Onatopp rappels down from a chopper and attacks Bond, trying to crush his chest underneath her thighs, but Bond shoots at the chopper, damaging it enough to make it lose control while Onatopp is still attached to the cable she used to rappel down. Her body gets caught between two trees, snapping her spinal column. Bond and Natalya then make their way back towards the lake they flew over earlier, and soon uncover a hidden base beneath it, concealing a satellite dish, and proceed to infiltrate it. Bond is captured while trying to rig explosives to destroy the base, and learns from Trevelyan that he intends to use the second GoldenEye to devastate London to conceal the theft of financial records from the Bank of England, meaning that, as he puts it, "the United Kingdom will re-enter the Stone Age" and "learn the price of betrayal - inflation adjusted for 1945." Natalya uses her credentials to access the satellite's guidance systems and reprogram it to fire its retro rockets, causing the satellite to re-enter the atmosphere, before she is also captured. As Boris attempts to undo Natalya's reprogramming, he nervously clicks many times on a pen that he had confiscated from Bond, which happened to be the one supplied to him by Q. Bond mentally keeps track of all of Boris's clicks in order to work out when the pen's hidden grenade is armed and when it is disarmed. When Boris pauses his clicks at a moment when the grenade is armed, Bond seizes the opportunity to knock the pen out of Boris's hands and into a puddle of chemicals spilled from an earlier fire-fight. When the grenade goes off, it causes a chemical explosion that allows Bond and Natalya to escape. To prevent Boris from regaining control of the satellite, Bond proceeds to sabotage the dish's antennae by jamming its gears with a metal pole. Trevelyan tries to intercept him, and the ensuing fight between the two culminates in Bond dangling Trevelyan below the antennae. Trevelyan asks Bond, "For England?" repeating a line he had used when he was agent 006, but this time, Bond answers, "No, for me" before letting go and watching Trevelyan plummet to the bottom of the dish. By this time, the GoldenEye satellite comes far enough down into the atmosphere for its heat to destroy it. Natalya soon rescues Bond in a commandeered helicopter, moments before the antennae malfunctions and explodes, destroying the base. The debris falls onto Trevelyan and crushes him to death. Boris finally undoes Natalya's reprogramming, albeit too late to save the satellite, but moments after declaring himself invincible, some liquid nitrogen canisters rupture, freezing Boris to death. After landing in what appears to be a safe meadow, the pair prepare to enjoy some solitude together but are interrupted by the arrival of CIA agent Wade and a team of U.S. Marines with helicopters who had been hiding all around the meadow, who escort them to the Guantanamo Bay Naval base.
