When the sarpanch of Ambegaon village dies, his family unites for the next panchayat election. But as the story progresses every family member slowly starts to get struck by the importance of power. Halim, who is divorced by her husband is overjoyed, when he comes back seeking her in a remarriage. But in her religion Halim has to undergo something known as Halala, where she has to marry another guy, consummate their relationship, divorce him and get married to her first husband. A Maulana offers to do the needful, according to their customs. Things come to a heady mix when she's confused between staying and leaving the current marriage to the Maulana, who in a little while showered her with love and care.
