Natwarlal convinces them that they must kidnap a wealthy person and demand a big ransom and take the money to appease Radha's dad. Devkishan banishes son Bhawani after learning of his criminal activities. Shiva moves to Bombay, finds Bhawani's a wanted smuggler, gets embroiled, leading to conflict between brothers manipulated by gangster Jagtap against each other. Devkishan Sharma is a school-teacher in a small town in India, where he lives with his wife, and two sons, Bhawaniprasad and Shivprasad. When he finds out that Bhawani has fallen into bad company and has taken to crime to make a livelihood, he asks him to leave the house, which he does. Then Shivprasad alias Shiva attempts, in vain, to find a job, and finally decides to re-locate to Bombay. Upon arrival he meets with an old friend, Madanlal, who subsequently tells him that Bhawani is a big businessman. Shiva goes to Bhawani, who now lives in a palatial house, and who welcomes Shiva with open arms. Then one day Shiva finds out that Bhawani is a smuggler who is wanted by the police. Before he could confront his brother, Bhawani is shot and wounded by another gangster, Jagtap, and is hospitalized in serious condition. Shiva decides to take over from Bhawani, but when Bhawani recovers, he is upset and asks Shiva to go home to mom and dad. A humiliated and enraged Shiva refuses to go home and instead joins forces with Jagtap in order to teach Bhawani a lesson. After the wedding; nothing is the same for the family anymore as Brahmdutt's fear started to come through when Indrajeet first created a rift between him and his business partners, Premchand and Mushtaque Ali. Braham Dutt agrees to meet this young man, but not does not approve of his ideas and is very suspicious of his character. This opposition to her love prompts Sonu to take an overdoes of sleeping pills, and as a result forcing her parents to accept Inderjit as their son-in-law. The marriage takes place, and evetually Inderjit starts showing his true colours. First he creates a rift between Brahm Dutt and his business partners (Anupam Kher and Shafi Inamdar), and then sets about systematically destroying the Dutt family and his wife. Bhavani is a journalist who tries to fight for the prostitutes, including Janki and her daughter, Gopi. But she is met with resentment of the local don, Phatte Dada. She gets help from a politician, Purshottam who allows her to run a newspaper publication and calls for criminal proceedings against Phatte. But her trust is soon shattered when she is implicated for defaming Purshottam`s name and operating a brothel and her mother, who identifies Purshottam as her husband`s killer, is accused of killing her father and is subsequently confined to a mental institute. Whether other characters in the story meet the same fate owing to the influence of the corrupted politicians and officials, forms the rest of the story.

Laxmi devi, a strict disciplinarian and stern mother, rules over her palatial house with an iron hand. She has two daughters of marriageable age, Leena, and Isha. She wants to get them married to two brothers from a decent and well-off family, so that both sisters can be together for life. But fate decides otherwise, for her daughters are not all that interested in her choice of their grooms, but prefer two down-and-out thieves named Omi and Vikram Doshi, who are orphaned at a very young age, and come from poor families. Now Laxmi devi must decide about the fate of her two daughters and her prospective son-in-laws.

A woman raised by her uncle and aunt finds out that she was adopted because her real father has become an alcoholic and her real mother has been institutionalised due to a tragedy before she was born.

The story begins with a happy lower-middle-class family - Arun Verma (Anil Kapoor) an 8-year-old boy, his sister Komal Verma (Khushboo) a 5-year-old girl, his mother (Nutan) and his father Deepak (Girish Karnad) - living a peaceful life. Arun's parents teach their children through the famous title song "Zindagi Har Kadam Ek Nayi Jung Hai, Jeet Jayenge Hum, Jeet Jayenge Hum Tu Agar Sang Hai" which means that life is full of challenges at every step and still we will overcome all these if we are together. Arun's father is trapped in a murder case, for murdering a rich philanthropist Mr Oberoi, who refused to support his plan to start a music academy. A famous criminal lawyer G. D. Thakral (Amrish Puri) proves him guilty (with a false testimony of Oberoi's neighbor who gives a narration of happened on the night of the murder), and he is sentenced to be hanged by the court. Pleas by Arun's mother fail to convince Thakral to be truthful and spare her husband. Thakral asks her to give evidence for his innocence, to which she sadly quotes, "Jiske Paas Koi Sabut, Koi Gavah Nahi Hote Kya We Begunah Nahin Hote" ("one who does not have any proof or witness of innocence, are they not innocent?"). Thakral was determined to let her husband hang as this would get him lots of publicity (plus he was paid Rs 5 Lakhs by Oberoi's younger brother, who wanted control over his wealth). That night Oberoi's brother tries to kills the witness, lest he changes his testimony. The injured witness reaches the temple where Deepak's wife was sitting, desolate, and tells her that Deepak is innocent. But he dies there and then. She is not able to reach the jail on time. Deepak is hanged as per the court's decision. Arun's mother becomes mentally unstable from shock and is sent to a mental institution. Later Advocate Gupta (A. K. Hangal), the lawyer who defended Arun's father, finds out that Thakral had known all along that he was innocent, but only wanted him to be hanged. Arun finds out that Thakral abused the law. Arun's house and all his property are auctioned off by the court. Arun and his sister are not offered help. He grows up with the seeds of revenge in his heart. He becomes a successful defense lawyer and keenly follows every case of Thakral so that some day he can stand up in court against the unbeaten Thakral and beat him. One day Geeta Srivatsav (Meenakshi Seshadri) comes to him and asks him to fight the case of her sister, Dr. Asha Mathur (Bina), who is accused of killing a patient on duty with her medicine, which she gave from her purse. Arun refuses saying that if she can produce even a piece of evidence of her sister being innocent he will fight for her. Geeta replies coincidentally the same sentence "Jiske Paas Koi Sabut, Koi Gavah Nahi Hote Kya We Begunah Nahin Hote." Arun is instantly reminded of his mother's pleadings before Thakral. Geeta storms out of his office, but Arun is convinced to take the case. He meets Asha Mathur in police custody. He learns from her that on that fateful night she got a call from her ward assistant that her patient (who is a police witness) is in the ICU and needs her. She stops on the way (due to a traffic jam), and she impatiently moves out of her car to ask the reason. Meanwhile, somebody replaces the medicine bottle with the look-alike bottle of poison from her purse. On arrival in the hospital, she gives the liquid from that bottle to stabilize the patient. This resulted in the patient's death. It is shown that Asha Mathur's husband, Dr. Dinesh Mathur (Parikshit Sahni), had gone to meet Thakral and had asked him to fight his wife's case. Thakral says no, claiming he is very busy at the moment, but later tells his assistant that there is no way that this case could be won. Arun meets Dinesh Mathur and informs him that he will fight the case. He asked him about the nature of poison and for how long a person can sustain the poison; he learns that poison might result in death within 2 to 15 minutes depending on the body's resistance. The case begins with the prosecution lawyer recounting the events of that fateful day and telling that the medicine given to the patient was actually poison. Arun defends the case says that the patient did not die of this medicine. To prove himself right he drinks the medicine in court and refutes the claim. The court declares Geeta's sister not guilty. Just after the judgment, Dr. Mathur rushes Arun to hospital. It is revealed that the medicine contained poison, and Arun is saved in the nick of time. Geeta calls him on a beach to appreciate his efforts and kindness at the canteen. They fall in love. Thakral's son Vikram Thakral (Javed Jaffrey), a spoiled brat, not knowing anything about Arun, teases Geeta, which irritates the couple. Soon things take an ugly turn and Arun beats up Vikram. Dr. Mathur wants to appreciate and compensate Arun for the risky effort he took to save his wife. He calls him for a get-together in his mansion. Dr. Mathur gives Arun a blank check. Arun rejects the offers politely and says he did for his self-satisfaction. He then finds the same piano with the sticker of Bhagwat Geeta of Krishna which his father used to play and was auctioned. His memories are refreshed again and with the emotional request he tells Dr. Mathur that this piano is very significant to him and asks for it. Dr. Mathur very happily gives him the piano. One day at Arun's home, Mr. Mathur sees a photo of the former's mother hanging on the wall. He immediately recognizes the face with the patient he was handling for mental disorders. Arun and his sister request them to take them to her. In the mental hospital they see their mother. Her memories had stopped on the day of the incident; she feels that their children are eight and five, staying with father. Arun brings her mother to his house and tries to make her come back to normal; she regains her memory on hearing the song "Zingadi Har Kadam..." Meanwhile, Vikram wants to exact revenge on Arun and devises a plan to trap Komal who studies in the same college. He tries to impress her by his charms, dancing skills, and ways of flattering people. The plan works. Komal falls for him and he convinces her to run away with him (so that he can publicly defame Arun by leaving his sister). At the planned moment, when one of Vikram's ex-girlfriends Indu (Rabia Amin) shows up and tells Komal of Vikram's evil intentions. In the ensuing argument, Vikram murders his girlfriend which is witnessed by Dr. Mathur's family (as Arun had kept Komal with Geeta to keep her away from Vicky). Arun had been waiting for this moment to take revenge on Thakral. He steps in as the prosecutor against Thakral who is defending his son. The case moves to and fro (Thakral contends that Komal wanted to frame Vicky to extract revenge on his dad for hanging her father. Asha Mathur had weak eyesight and hence could not be relied upon to identify Vicky from a distance. Dr Mathur was also wearing a coat and trouser that night (as was Vicky), and Thakral alleges that Dr Mathur was having an affair with Indu and killed her when he saw Indu in his house and was afraid that Indu would reveal the truth to Asha) and, in the end, Arun has the upper hand (He produces a fake coat and knife and gets Thakral to admit that that night Vicky was wearing a white coat). That night Vicky bribes the police station inspector to release him for an hour so he can destroy the coat and knife. But this was a trap and Arun was waiting for Vicky. After a fight, Vicky manages to destroy the evidence, but letters from Indu fall into Arun's hands. Thakral kidnaps Arun's mother and attempts to blackmail him. Arun goes to save his mother and is beaten up by Thakral's goons. Even though injured, Arun fights back. In an attempt to shoot Arun, Thakral shoots his friend's son and is jailed. He is unsuccessful in saving his son, who is given the death penalty. Thakral becomes a mentally unstable person. Arun and his family are reunited.

Ajay is a wealthy man. His well wishers conspire against him and introduce him to his long lost mother, Shankuntala and brother Vijay. Unaware of their true intentions, overjoyed Ajay does not see his death coming. After death, Ajay`s spirit looks for his real brother and appeals revenge. Vijay agrees to follow Ajay`s spirit but he does not know where he is going might cost him his life.

Rajput began in 1975 as a dream project with all the makings of a blockbuster hit. It had Goldie as the director,LP as music directors; and Dharmendra, Hema Malini, Rajesh Khanna, Vinod Khanna as the lead actors. Following her phenomenal success in Laila Majnu,the gorgeous Ranjeeta was also roped in. As if that was not enough, they also signed Tina Munim some time in the middle of the project. Unfortunately, the movie took seven years to see the light of the day, and it turned out to be only an average box office earner. There is no satisfactory explanation available as to why it took so long. Maybe there were problems with the dates of the overworked stars. To a viewer, the main problem appears to be the the weak story-line which ,it seems, was revised again and again, and it became weaker with each revision. The characters played by Dharmendra and Hema Malini are deeply in love, and they get physically intimate, but their parents-Om Shivpuri and Rehman- are sworn enemies. The result is that Hema gets married to the character played by Rajesh Khanna, and Dharmendra goes to jail as he kills the dacoit who attacks Hema Malini's Doli. Hema gives birth to Dharmendra's son who is raised by Rajesh Khanna as his own son, even though he knows the truth. Bhanu (Vinod Khanna) is in love with Kamali( Ranjeeta) who gets raped by Ranjeet who plays a tyrant ex ruler. Ranjeet is a widower who has a daughter from his first marriage-played by Tina Munim. Vinod Khanna forces Ranjeet to marry Ranjeeta, and kidnaps the daughter (Tina Munim) to settle the scores. Predictably, the kidnapped daughter falls in love with the kidnapper. In spite of the multi star billing, the bizarre twists to the story lead to the evident asymmetry in the relationships as Hema is the heroine for both Dharmendra and Rajesh Khanna; and Vinod Khanna is the hero for both Ranjeeta and Tina Munim. I give full marks to Goldie as he managed to make a watchable movie even though the project dragged for seven years for whatever reasons. Among the actors, Rajesh Khanna has performed the best. Physically, he looks less of a Rajput if you compare him with Dharmendra,Vinod Khanna, and Ranjeet. But his role was meatier, and he did full justice to it as the devoted lover, committed husband, caring and loving foster father, and a brave and intelligent Police Officer. Dharmendra didn't have much scope in the story. Vinod Khanna didn't have too much scope either, but he was the director's darling. Goldie sure gave special importance to his Guru Bhai ( Ref Acharya Rajneesh) ,Vinod Khanna, who gets significant footage particularly during the climax. It should be mentioned that while Goldie and Mahesh Bhatt had deserted Rajneesh, Vinod Khanna was still with the Godman and even went with him to America.He could shoot for the film only when he visited India. The girls were totally ignored except for some scintillating scenes of Hema Malini. Ranjeet was too young to play Tina's father and certainly inadequate to be the main villain. I recall when I first saw this movie, my fellow viewers wondered why Prem Nath was not there in the movie. Certainly a watchable film. The names of the actors should be taken to mean the characters played by them in the film.

A young beautiful-looking woman sells liquor while her boyfriend is stuck in prison. Its a fun masala romp with generous helpings of the recommended masala allowance. There is feisty Hirni (Zarina Wahab) who wears backless cholis and sells liquor while her smoking hot boy-friend Jaamlia (Vinod Khanna) languishes in prison. Then there is the college-going Rekha (a very subdued Neetu Singh) whose attachment to Hamlet is exemplary -- she goes to bed with it. Her hair goes from shoulder length to waist length in the space of a few moments. Perhaps that is why a visiting drunkard -- Anand (Shashi Kapoor) -- falls for her and stalks her in a bordering-on-harassment song sequence. Mahendranath (Bharat Bhushan) is a rich and lonely old man with a smarmy new manager Dilip Singh (Prem Chopra). Mahendranath had a much younger brother Rajen (the annoying kid from Fakira) - a willful brat who left home one day, never to be heard of again. Instead of heaving a sigh of "good riddance", Mahendranath keeps hoping Rajen will return. Taking advantage of the old man's hopes, Dilip hires an unemployed youth (Raza Murad), to impersonate the lost-and-now-grown-up Rajen. Mahendranath happily hands over all his property to "Rajen" and is promptly murdered by Prem. "Rajen" himself is bumped off later.Things get more complicated with new twists and thrills at every turn. Someone is sending Dilip threatening letters about Mahendranath's murder. Jaamlia is fighting off goons who land like flies in Shaitan Chowki to evict the residents. Anand makes a pact with Dilip to get Shaitan Chowki vacated. But is he tricking the residents or Dilip? While all this is happening, Rekha is mysteriously absent from the scene. After years of absence, wealthy Mahendra Nath still believes that his rebellious younger brother Rajen will return home one day. Chandru lives in a palatial house with his dad, Ram Kumar; mom Sita; elder brother Shyam and his wife. Chandru is in love with Geeta Sinha, the only daughter of wealthy Dr. Sinha, and would like to marry her. Geeta, too is in love with Chandru and introduces him to her dad. Dr. Sinha has no objections, the young couple are then formally engaged and a wedding date is set. The wedding preparations take place in both the households, and soon the big day arrives. Before the marriage could be formalized, Dr. Sinha asks Ram that he has heard that Chandru is not the son of Sita but of a prostitute named Radha. This shocks everyone present, and it looks like Ram has a lot of explaining to do in order to get his son married or else live with this stigma for the rest of his life.

Truth, beauty and Godliness are subjective and humans have not been able to find an objective definition for either through centuries of search. It is a human's love, faith and devotion that gives any meaning to any of the 3. The story is set in a village where Roopa (Zeenat Aman) lives with her father, the village priest Pandit Shyam Sunder (Kanhaiyalal). Roopa is unconsidered a jinx as her mother died while giving birth to her. Bansi (A. K. Hangal) is Roopa's uncle and protects her from Pandit's wrath. Pandit wanted a boy and hence hated Roopa as a burden on himself. From the very early age, Roopa had a fabulous voice and she supported her father, the temple priest, in conducting religious ceremonies for patrons, which requires singing devotional songs. Still, the priest does not value Roopa and does not even celebrate her birthday as he says that he lost his wife the same day and does not know how to celebrate that day. As a young child (Padmini Kolhapure), the right side of Roopa's face and neck were burned by a pot of boiling oil which she spilled on herself while cooking a meal for her father. She was cooking the meal on occasion of her birthday, which Bansi insisted should be celebrated, leaving part of her face disfigured. Due to this dis-figuration, she is unmarried and everyone in the village pities her. Henceforth, Roopa keeps her right cheek hidden under the veil of her sari. Despite the terrible accident, Roopa remains religious and goes to the village temple daily, singing hymns and devotional songs. Pandit is eager to get Roopa married as she is old enough, but Shastri (Subroto Mahapatra), Roopa's prospective father-in-law & Shastri's son (Javed Khan) demand a hefty dowry to take her on. Despite the cruelty of her own father, Roopa understands her fate and says that she is resigned to stay at home and does not want Shyam to exert himself in his old age to gather money for her dowry. Rajeev (Shashi Kapoor) is a dashing engineer who arrives in the village to oversee the operation of a major dam. He lives in a guest house managed by dam supervisor Bade Babu (David Abraham Cheulkar) and Bade Babu's wife (Leela Chitnis). Jai Singh (Vishwa Mehra) is the supervisor. Rajeev's mom and dad have already passed away. Rajeev abhors anything ugly and he even gets scared when he sees his optically disfigured face in mirrors at the village fair. He hears Roopa's lovely singing at the temple and then later at the inauguration function of the new dam and meets her when she arrives at the temple again early morning. Rajeev does not see her disfigured side, and falls in love with her. Village belle Champa (Sheetal) is also in love with Rajeev. Rajeev mistakes Champa for Pooja and expresses his love for her. When he realizes she is not Pooja, he runs away, angering Champa. Rajeev continues to pursue Roopa during her morning singing sessions at the temple. He follows her to a waterfall where he watches her bathe and return to the temple. Rajeev introduces himself to Roopa and it is clear that he is attracted to her. Roopa hides her hideous side from Rajeev. One day Roopa and Rajeev both share a sensuous moment under the waterfall, where Pooja also finds herself attracted to Rajeev. Rajeev kisses her that day. He wants to sleep with her, but Roopa says she will have sex only after marriage. Rajeev then asks her father's permission to marry her. Roopa does not want to cheat Rajeev because she loves him deeply and first request his father to reject the marriage proposal. But everyone from the village (including the Panchayat) request her to change her mind. They even donate funds for her wedding festivities and thereby she agreed to get married to Rajeev thinking he may accept her with her condition as he claimed to love her truly. After the wedding, Rajeev discovers the truth and thinks that he was cheated and forced to marry someone else, at which point he disowns Roopa and drives her out of the house. Rajeev roams around the village at the wedding night in search of another Roopa, as he think there is another girl with the same name, waiting for him. On the other side, after being rejected by Rajeev at their wedding night, Roopa decides to commit suicide but rescued by Rajeev, when he thought he found the girl he fall in love with, not his wife. After being rescued, Roopa decides to meet him at night, using a veil to hide the scarred side of her face. Rajeev spends his days ignoring his wife, and his nights loving his mistress including having sex with her in the darkness of night, not knowing they are both the same woman. Rajeev's servant Jaisingh notices that Roopa is meeting Rajeev as his mistress at night. During one of their nights together, they make love and Roopa gets pregnant. When Rajeev finds out that his wife is pregnant, he accuses her of infidelity and refuses to believe that his "mistress" and wife are the same. He publicly shames her and wont relent even when Jaisingh also confirms that Rajeev's wife is Roopa and there is no other girl, and sends her back to her home. Seeing it, Roopa's father dies out of agony. Roopa vows that she will never ever return to Rajeev as his mistress. A terrible storm ravages the village, breaking open the dam which Rajeev had come to repair. The village is being evacuated as the dam's shutters are opening. In the swirling waters of the flood, Rajeev sees how shallow he has been. He finds his wife singing a lovely song in her sweet voice and comes to the realization that Roopa and his wife are the same woman, and saves Roopa from drowning. The dam waters flood the village and break the bridge that the villagers were using to cross over to the other side and safety. Once safe in the vicinity of the temple, Rajeev ask for Roopa's forgiveness and accepts Roopa as his wife.

Raj and Poonam, poor lovers, face struggles. Raj takes job in affluent sphere, causing moral conflicts. They navigate circumstances, family duties, testing relationship and principles amid wealth-poverty divide. Raj(Shashi Kapoor) and Poonam (Sharmila Tagore) are sweethearts cursed with extreme poverty. Raj must provide for his family, and arrange for his sister's marriage. Poonam fights for pennies to nurse her ailing mother, while her father drinks away his earnings. Bharat faces challenges in leading his family after taking the responsibilities following his father's death. After the retirement of his dad, the onus is on Bharat to look after the Delhi-based family. He has two younger college-going brothers, Deepak and Vijay, and a sister of marriage age, Radha. Bharat is a graduate, but is unable to secure any employment, much to the frustration of his girlfriend, Sheetal. Vijay takes step to secure his own future, by turning to crime, which is strongly opposed by Bharat, and as a result Vijay leaves the house. Mohan is Sheetal's boss, and finds her very attractive. When he proposes marriage, she accepts, and soon both are engaged. Afraid to show her face to Kailash, who still insists on marrying her, she uses her crutches to escape from the hospital, ends up with a gang of bandits, is rescued by Kailash and brought home - where circumstances will again put her on the stage to perform a dance. After his father is killed by a bandit by the name of Bharat of Chandravan, Naagsen is crowned King, and he rules his kingdom along with his wife, Rani Kundala, and sister, Rajkumari Chanda. Naagsen is not satiated with Kundala, and has an affair with Dancer, Kala, who he houses in a palace of her own. When the King of Kamroo, who is also a magician, abducts Chanda, she is rescued by a brave warrior, Deepu, who asks Naagsen for her hand in marriage. Naagsen is displeased and asks for the bloodline of Deepu, and when he finds out that Deepu is the son of Bharat, he has him arrested and placed in the dungeon. But Chanda helps him escape as both have fallen in love with each other. Naagsen hatches a scheme with Kala, and as a result, Deepu is lured back into the palace, arrested, and jailed. Deepu's friend, Mallu, a snake charmer, manages to free Deepu, only to have him re-captured, jailed, blinded, and he, along with Chanda, banished from the kingdom.
