Ram Teri Ganga Maili (1985), directed by Raj Kapoor, is a bold film that explores themes of purity, love, and social morality against the backdrop of rural India. Bobby (1973), directed by Raj Kapoor, is a landmark film in Indian cinema that revolutionized the portrayal of youthful romance on screen. The film tells the story of Raj Nath (Rishi Kapoor) and Bobby Braganza (Dimple Kapadia), two teenagers from different social and economic backgrounds who fall in love. Raj is the son of a rich Hindu businessman while Bobby is the daughter of a Goan Christian fisherman. Bobby`s parents have no objections to the relationship, but Raj`s father is dead set against the idea of his son being with the daughter of a poor fisherman. Matters turn sour when Raj`s father insults Bobby`s father. After several dramatic twists and turns which includes an attempted suicide bid by the young lovers, all`s well that ends well as both families reconcile and give their blessings to the young couple.

In Jis Desh Mein Ganga Behti Hai (1960), Raj Kapoor plays Raju, an innocent and kind-hearted wanderer who unwittingly becomes part of a gang of dacoits. Raju falls in love with Kammo (Padmini), the daughter of the leader of the gang. Raju is persuaded by Kammo and her father that the gang looks out for the interests of the poor. But Raju witnesses a murder on one of the looting sprees and he leaves the gang. Conflict arises when a gang member Raka (Pran) kills the leader and attempts to forcibly marry Kammo. Raju approaches the police for help and finally convinces the gang of dacoits to surrender to the police so that they can reform themselves as respectable members of society.

`Shree 420` follows naive, hardworking, honest, Raj (Raj Kapoor), who comes to Bombay from Allahabad in search of employment. He soon discovers that his university diploma and a gold medal have little worth in this exploitative city. He later encounters Vidya (Nargis), a poor school teacher and the two fall in love. Finally, Raj lands a job in a laundry. One day, a rich client Maya (Nadira), discovers his proficiency with cards and takes him to a posh club where he wins her a big sum of money. Later, Raj gets involved in underhand dealings with an unscrupulous businessman, Seth Sonachand Dharmanand (Nemo). Gradually, Raj becomes completely corrupted and is alienated from the people he loves like Vidya. Raj`s conscience is awakened when he discovers Sonachand`s scheme to exploit poor people and he decides to right the wrong.

"Awara", a film that introduced Raj Kapoor`s tramp character inspired by Charlie Chaplin, is regarded among the greatest films of all time. The film tells the story of Raj (Raj Kapoor) the estranged son of a wealthy judge Raghunath (Prithviraj Kapoor) who throws his wife out on the streets suspecting her of adultery as a result of which Raj and his mother live in poverty. Raj meets Rita (Nargis) in school and she leaves an impression on him, but they drift apart when Raj is expelled from school. Raj is convinced by Jagga (K.N. Singh), a crime boss, to take up a life of crime to escape his life of poverty. He encounters Rita again who is now a lawyer and a ward of Raghunath. Through dramatic twists and turns, Raghunath discovers that Raj is his son and a contrite Raj goes to jail with Rita promising to wait for him.

The story of Barsaat revolved around two contrasting love storiesone rooted in innocence and the other in heartbreak. Two friends, Pran (Raj Kapoor) and the womanizing Gopal (Prem Nath) romance two local girls Reshma (Nargis) and Neela (Nimmi) while holidaying in the valley of Kashmir. While Pran and Reshma's love is true, Gopal is a womanizer, who disregards the faithful Neela and condemns her to wait faithfully for his return. The music of the film marked the debut of the legendary duo Shankar-Jaikishan and has songs that are hummed even today. The poster of the film that depicted the romantic pose of the heroine gazing up at the hero as she bends backwards on his arm inspired the famous insignia of R.K. Films.
