Rajendranath Malhotra

Kishen Malhotra (Rishi Kapoor) is an industrialist who heads the Malhotra empire. His relatives are his mother Sumitra (Sushma Seth), his uncle Shanti (Alok Nath) and his cousin Bhanu (Mohnish Behl). Kishen is lazy and doesn't start work before noon. The business is mainly run by Shanti and his son Bhanu. Sumitra forces Kishen to start attending office and to take an interest in his own business affairs. Kishen hits on his secretaries at work. He has a loyal dog named Sheru. One day Bhanu asks Kishen to sign some checks for him. The next day Sumitra calls Kishen to the board meeting and asks about the Rs 5 Lakhs he withdrew from the bank the day before. Kishen is astounded but Bhanu claims that he gave the money to Kishen. Due to Kishen's flamboyant lifestyle everybody believes Bhanu, till Sheru gets the money bag from Bhanu's home. The bag also has Bhanu's markings. Shanti banishes Bhanu from the house. Kishen realizes that he needs to take more responsibility for the business. To expand his business, Kishen decides to investigate business prospects in a village. Kishen's father had promised a tea factory to the village while he was alive, but after his death the project went on a back-burner. Sheru stays back with Sumitra. Here, he meets a village belle named Radha (Juhi Chawla). Kishen bumps his car into Radha leading to a fight between the 2. Village Sarpanch (Tiku Talsania) is also Radha's father. Radha complains to her father and the entire village beats up Kishen when he arrives in the village. Kishen stays at a guest house managed by Jugnu (Kader Khan), who cannot see at night. Jugnu realizes that Kishen was beaten up by the villagers and tells the Panchayat who Kishen is, the next morning. Radha is asked to apologize to Kishen as all villagers want the factory to be started. Radha also offers to help Kishen heal from his injuries. Besides his work, Kishen also starts teaching English to Radha and some other people of the village. Jugnu gets married to his crush Bijlee (Neelam Mehra). Unknown to Kishen, somebody is stalking him and reading his mail. The factory is inaugurated. The villagers are indebted to Kishen and want to give a gift. Kishen asks for Radha, but Radha says that she does not love Kishen. She says that she only befriended Kishen for the villagers. Kishen wants to know why Radha rejected him. She reveals that she has a friend Banno who went mad after her suitor from the city abandoned her after a romance and a promise to come back. Radha rejects Kishen and he drives away but ends up crashing his car. Radha is distraught and prays for Kishen's recovery. Kishen survives. Kishen and Radha slowly fall in love with each other, and Radha agrees to marry Kishen. Kishen leaves the village (and Radha) and promises her that he will come back. On reaching home, Kishen is surprised to see a mourning at his home. He is even more confused to see people looking astonishingly at him. But he gets a shock of his life when he sees the portrait of his mother, signifying that his mother is dead. The real sucker punch comes when he sees his duplicate mourning next to his mother's portrait. When he says that he is Kishen, his duplicate claims the same. When he prods the duplicate to tell something about real Kishen, the duplicate astonishes him by telling him about his life (Jugnu, Sarpanch and others) as well as about Radha. The duplicate also has the letter that Sumitra had sent to Kishen in the village. Kishen is unable to think as to how the duplicate could know about Radha, but he knows that his pet dog will identify the real master. When the dog, too, goes to the duplicate, Kishen is thrown out of his own home. Meanwhile, Kishen learns about the sudden death of one of his old servants, and he smells foul play. He somehow succeeds to infiltrate into his own office, which is now run by his duplicate, but he gets arrested. Another servant named Daddu tells Kishen about his mother's accident, which probably killed her as her body was not recovered. Kishen also notices that Bhanu is back at home. Daddu is killed when he sees "Kishen" taking to Bhanu and Inspector Dholak and revealing that his real name is Tony. Bhanu and Dholak kill Daddu by drowning him. When Kishen infiltrates his office, the duplicate has him arrested. Kishen learns that the duplicate even terminated the village factory and is preparing to sell of company assets. Meanwhile, Radha comes to meet Kishen in the city after the village factory is closed. But, when she sees "Kishen" partying with some girls, she thinks that Kishen has forgotten her. She turns to go back, but the real Kishen has escaped police custody. He stops her and explains the whole story. He, Radha and Goonga (Shakti Kapoor), a dumb convict who has escaped with Kishen, plan to set things straight. The trio hide themselves in a boat which takes them to Goa. Here, Kishen meets a girl who calls him Tony. Slowly, he comes to realize that his duplicate's name is Tony Braganza. Tony works as a saxophonist in a Goan club called Three Aces and has a girlfriend there. Kishen starts gathering every information about Tony. The trio returns to Mumbai. Radha pretends to be a girl named Rita and gains access to Kishen's home. Kishen has identified the key players by now: Bhanu, Tony and Inspector T.T. Dholak (Kiran Kumar). He creates a rift between the trio. An enraged Tony threatens to expose his partners by what he calls his trump card. The angered partners take him to the real head behind the game, who is revealed to be Kishen's uncle Shanti. Now, Tony shows his trump card - he tells them that Kishen's mother is still alive and his men have kept her in captivity. She knows nothing about Tony or the events happening. Meanwhile, Kishen discovers the depth of the trio's planning. He finds that his dog could not identify him as it was not his dog. Like Kishen, his dog, too, had been replaced. Now, Kishen comes back, impersonating Tony and makes Tony's partners throw Tony out the same way Kishen was thrown. Tony comes to the place where he has hidden Kishen's mother and convinces her that he is Kishen. Kishen arrives there, too. Kishen's mother tricks the duo and finds out who is her son. Just then, all the villains show up at Tony's den. Kishen's uncle goes on to explain that he never liked the way his dead brother left the entire estate to Kishen's mother. He explains that Bhanu was not the only one looting the money. When Bhanu was thrown out, he went to Goa to find him, where he met Tony. As the whole plot is explained, Kishen surprises everyone by saying that he had anticipated this. The money he used to lure out the villains was fake. In another twist, Dholak comes out holding a gun on Radha's head. Even Kishen is surprised when Goonga re-introduces himself as Inspector Bhinde. He explains that he was sent undercover by the commissioner (Jagdish Raj) as even he smelled a rat. In the melee that ensues, the villains are overpowered and arrested. Tony surprises everyone by acknowledging his true identity and saying that there can be only one Kishen. Kishen and Radha are united.

Two con-men become the unlikely saviours of an entire village when they set out to end the despotic rule of a crime-lord, with whom they have a score to settle.

Hari (Ravi Baswani) and Giri (Satish Shah) are 2 detectives who suspect Brigadier (Amjad Khan) of leaking defense secrets to outsiders (Boss # 2 (Sudhir)). Constable (Viju Khote) is after Hari and Giri as both have escaped from a mental asylum. Navratan (Rajesh Puri) Is brigadier's house servant. Roma (Roma Manik) is his daughter. Brigadier meets Boss # 2 secretly and passes him maps in exchange for money. Giri and Hari have been tracking him for 3 months but have no evidence against him yet. So, the duo decides to start tracking Roma instead. Kandhanath (Rajendranath Malhotra) runs a shop for supplies for last rites. His son is Vijay (Farooq Shaikh). Vijay doesn't want to join his dad's business. Vijay and Roma are dating each other secretly. Brigadier has a personal bodyguard by the name of Chus Lee. Brigadier knows that Roma is in love and asks her to invite Vijay for dinner. His plan is to have Vijay fight Chus Lee, in which Vijay is sure to be beaten up badly. Roma convinces Vijay to fight Chus Lee as she plans to drug him with Navratan's help. The plan works, as after a little while (during which Vijay takes a beating), the drugs take effect and Vijay is able to beat Chus Lee easily. Now Brigadier wants to meet Vijay's father to fix the wedding, but Vijay is embarrassed with his dad and wants to avoid bringing them together. So, together Vijay and Roma decide to dress up Vijay as his own dad. Vijay is very nervous to meet Brigadier and tries to run away. But Roma stops Vijay and Navratan offers him a drink, after which Vijay gets overconfident and goes back in the house to meet Brigadier. Brigadier wants Vijay to stay in his house as a house husband. when Kandhanath reaches the Brigadier's house, Hari and Giri had stolen his clothes and Brigadier doesn't believe him and thinks Kandhanath is an escaped mental patient. When Vijay comes out, Hari and Giri take his photo while he is removing his makeup, as proof that Vijay told lies to Brigadier. Hari and Giri want Vijay to spy on Brigadier on their behalf, by being his house husband. As Vijay gets married to Roma, Kandhanath has no clue. When he finds out via neighbors, he tries to go to the hotel to disrupt the weeding. But he is deterred by Hari and Giri. Finally, Kandhanath reaches the Mandap, but Vijay had anticipated this, and Hari had replaced him in the Mandap. His face was covered with flowers and hence nobody noticed, while Vijay appeared in front of Brigadier as his own dad. Kandhanath looks at Hari and realizes that's not Vijay. After Kandhanath leaves, Vijay switches place with Hari (after exchanging clothes in the bathroom) VIjay and Roma are about to on their honeymoon. Navratan loses the suitcase which gets mixed up with the same style suitcase that Brigadier was taking to meet Boss # 2. Roma and Vijay get Brigadier's suitcase, which is full of toffees. They eat some and end up stoned. Meanwhile Boss # 2 is angry with Brigadier for not bringing the drugged toffees. He escalates the matter to Boss # 1 (Anupam Kher), who wants to meet Brigadier. A few days later, at a hotel, Vijay finds Brigadier delivery a package to Boss # 2. He follows Brigadier, who notices Vijay following him and hides inside a hotel room. The hotel room belongs to Film actress Kalpana who was hiding there from her producer, who wants to shoot her scenes in skimpy clothes, which she is resisting. Brigadier was hiding in a closet, while Kalpana was in the bathroom. Vijay comes in and finds Kalpana in the room. Vijay also hides in the closet and finds Brigadier there. Eventually Vijay is caught there and has to admit the truth to Roma, that Hari and Giri have forced him to spy on brigadier. Roma advises Vijay to plant a bomb under Hari and Giri to incapacitate them and get them off their backs. The plan works as they both land in the hospital. They try to tell Vijay that Brigadier is a traitor. Vijay overhears Brigadier fixing a meeting with Boss # 1 on the phone and decides to follow him. Hari and Giri also escape from the hospital and capture Roma. Brigadier has promised secret military installation plans in exchange for large amounts of cash. As Brigadier decides to hand over the plans, Vijay intervenes and takes the plans and tries to escape but is captured. Brigadier refuses to identify Vijay, even though he insists that Brigadier is his father-in-law. Boss # 1 calls Brigadier's home and finds Roma (under custody of Hari and Giri) and asks her to come to his lair. Brigadier refuses to identify Roma as well. Kandhanath arrives at Roma's house and finds the lair address written in lipstick on a mirror and decides to go there. As Boss # 1 prepares to kill everyone, Kandhanath arrives and frees Vijay, and the usual melee ensues. At the end, the police arrive and reveals that Brigadier is on an undercover mission to expose Boss number 1 (Anupam Kher) who is a terrorist.

Ratan Kumar lives a middle-class existence with his wife, Pushpa and son, Sunder. When he is asked to commit a crime for Balram Singh, he does so, but decides to keep a suitcase full of diamonds for himself. An enraged Balram sets fire to his house. Believing his wife to be dead, Ratan flees, is rescued by Dr. Saigal, taken to the palace of a distraught Maharani Maanwati, who has just lost her son and husband, but is placated after being told that Sunder is her son. For years, Ratan, who now calls himself Ramesh, works for the Maharani, and when Sunder grows up, the Maharani comes to know of Ramesh's existence, finds that he closely resembles her husband, and marries him. Shortly thereafter, Pushpa re-surfaces, an enraged Maharani attempts to kill Ramesh, but ends up killing herself, before dying she asks Sunder to avenge her death. Fleeing from Sunder and the Police's wrath, Ramesh is apprehended by the Police, tried in Court, and sentenced to several years in jail. When he returns, he becomes an underworld don, with a sole motive of bringing an end to Balram, little knowing that Sunder, who now calls himself Shyam, is also on the lookout for him, and has befriended Ravi, Ramesh's second son, who was born during his tenure in prison. Situations take a turn for the worse one day when the Maharani kills herself, blaming Kumar for her death in the process and telling Sundar to avenge this killing. Kumar is then apprehend by the police, charged and sentence to a long jail term. Post delivery, Julie`s son is put in an orphanage by Julie`s mother and she asks Julie to forget all about the baby. By now, Julie`s father is dead, and she has become the bread earner of the family, Soon, Vikram comes back and hears all about Julie`s condition from her. He asks her to marry him, but the mothers disagree. His father then explains to the mothers how frivolous the prejudices they hold are, and the movie ends on a joyful note.

Lala Balwant Rai, affectionately known as Lalaji, is a big business magnate of Calcutta having business establishments at various places, including the picturesque hill station of Darjeeling and its adjoining areas. His grand daughter Aarti, who is an apple of his eye, studies at Darjeeling. Aarti meets a young villager, Somu, in a train while coming home during vacation, when the latter accidentally enters into the compartment occupied by her and her friends. Finding the boy to be a simpleton, Aarti and her friends make fun of him to their hearts content. . Aarti arrives at home accompanied by her friend Sushma and escorted by her relative Pran who had designs to marry her but whom she actually detests. Lalaji proposes two boys of his choice to Aarti for marriage but she declines to arrive at any decision unless she had met and studied them for herself. Lalaji permits her to do so and Aarti meets the two boys with the help of her cousin Murli, in disguise, and comes to the conclusion that both of them were absolutely unsuitable for her . When Aarti arrives back home after testing there boys she is informed that Lalaji had left for Darjeeling and soon after she receives a news that he has had an heart attack. Aarti rushes to Darjeeling accompanied by Pran, Sushma and the family doctor. And on her arrival over there Lalaji informs her that the cause of his ailment was the shock that he had received form his relatives Gyan, Jeevan, Paro and Lajwanti all of whom were mercilessly trying to swindle him. Lalaji tells her that if she wanted to see him cured she should get married without any further delay and suggests that Pran would not be a bad choice for her. Aarti shivers with the thought of Pran, therefore, speaks hurriedly that she had already selected a boy for herself. Lalaji gets relieved to hear is and asks her to bring the boy to him without a moments delay. Aarti and Susma set out in search of the 'boy. As luck would have it, they meet the same boy, Somu, in a street whom they had met in the train. They beg of him to help them by acting as Aarti's lover, and the latter agrees to do so after finding form his mother that there was nothing wrong in speaking a lie if it was for a good cause. . Aarti presents the boy to Lalaji as a modern young man belonging to a very rich family and Lalaji gets fully convinced about him. But Pran with his wicked intelligence finds out the truth about Somu and gets him exposed on the day of the engagement ceremony and gets his mother so much humiliated that she finally dies of the shock. Aarti now becomes sympathetic towards Somu and declares openly that she could not live without him. Lalaji gets infuriated to hear that but gradually realizes that Somu, though poor, was not a bad boy for her. And to remove the gulf of status between Somu and them, he declares that he would give all his wealth and property to some charitable institutions. The declaration causes a stir in the family and they decide to declare Lalaji as a mentally deranged person and consequently hatch a plot for the same.Pran goes to Lalaji with a loaded revolver. Humiliated and falsely imprisoned, Reeta Mehra (Sadhana) swears to take revenge against Sohanlal (Rehman). Upon her release she finds out that her ailing mother (Leela Chitnis) has passed away, and this adds fuel to her vengeance. She then meets with Heeralal (Ashok Kumar), who was a former business partner of Heeralal, who went to jail to save him, and as a result had to serve a lengthy jail sentence. Upon his release, he finds out that Heeralal had not kept his promise to look after his wife and child. Sanjeev agrees to this marriage, gets married, and thereafter leaves as he finds out that Gauri is blind. Maniram gets Sunil to convince Sanjeev to return to his wife, so Sunil and Sanjeev go on a hunting trip, where Sanjeev is attacked by an enraged elephant, thrown off a cliff, and believed to be dead. But he survives, and several months later, returns to Maniram's house, where, to his horror, he finds that Sunil has taken over his identity and is now living with Gauri. After the passing of their parents, Devraj lives with his much younger brother, Ramu, in a small town in India. He gets married to Bindya, who moves in along with her mom, and brother, Raju.
