Sania Badnaam (Celina Jaitly) is Carlos's girlfriend and is smuggling the diamonds out of India for him. Carlos instructs Sania to transfer the diamonds to Mumbai by train. The call is intercepted by Namdev. 4 years ago, Namdev led a raid on suspected Brown sugar warehouse in Mumbai, but it turned out to be a consignment of bras. Namdev was demoted and his reputation was ruined. 6 Alvares House in Bandra, Mumbai, is the residence of myopic, widowed, devout Hindu, Satyabol Shastri (Anupam Kher), who lives there with his daughter, Shivani (Riya Sen) (who is a simple girl from a Brahmin family). Shivani is in love with her Christian neighbor, Arjun Fernandes (Shreyas Talpade), who is a mechanic and lives with his Wanna-be singer sister, Julie (Koena Mitra) (a bar dancer with quite a reputation, but behind her raunchy exterior is a compassionate, kind woman who goes out of her way to help the needy), and a younger ailing sister, Titli (who has a hole in her heart which can only be fixed by an expensive surgery). Satyabol disapproves of Arjun and wants his daughter to marry Sarju Maharaj Banaraswale's (Sanjay Mishra) son. Satyabol has not seen Sarju or his son, and this match has been arranged by the local priest, who is a friend of Satyabol. Other than Satyabol chasing Badshah, the pet dog of Arjun, and ending up in the women's bathroom, the area is fairly peaceful. Then Arjun and his friends try to think of a plan to stop Sarju from marrying his son to Shivani but can't. So, Arjun calls his best friend Kishan (Ritesh Deshmukh) to help them. Kishan is a conman in Goa who has duped many Gurkhas led by Rana Jang Bahadur (Chunky Pandey), by getting them to invest in his scam chit fund. Rana has vowed to pursue Kishan and get the money back to the poor Gurkhas. Kishan escapes by train and it is the same train in which Sania is bringing the diamonds to Mumbai. On the train Kishan by chance runs into Sarju Maharaj, whom he remembers as the guy who is coming to meet Satyabol daughter for a possible marriage with his son. Kishan convinces Sarju to get down from the train to get water. He also encourages Sarju to say that he is "Kishan's" uncle, as he had seen Rana on the platform. Sarju gets down and is apprehended by Rana, who wants his revenge against Kishan. Kishan comes disguised as Sarju Maharaj Banaraswale. On the train Sania sees Namdev pursuing her. She has the diamonds hidden in the sole of her sandals and puts the same in Kishan's bag. Namdev arrests Sania, even though he can't find the Diamonds in her luggage. Sania is released from custody, but Namdev abducts her illegally. Carlos gets info that Sania has been abducted and suspects Sania of double crossing her. Namdev wants Sania to help him get the diamonds and offers her a 50% cut as well. Sania takes the offer. Meanwhile, Kishan (as Sarju) gifts the sandals that he finds in Sarju's luggage to Shivani. Fake Sarju then convinces Satyabol that his (Sarju's) son is not good for his (Shashtri's) daughter by dancing in the bar and kissing Julie who was in the act. Then Shashtri informs the fake Sarju that he does not want to marry his daughter to Sarju's son and that he can go now. So having finished his mission, Kishan prepares to leave when Arjun tells him to stay back as he loves Julie, but Kishan refuses to say that he is not destined for Julie. Then after Arjun leaves and Rana turns up with the real Sarju at the railway station and identifies Kishan. Kishan says that all the cash is with Sarju they leave Kishan and run after Sarju while Kishan escapes. Kishan disguises himself as a woman named Sunaina and says 'she' is Arjun's auntie. Soon, Shastri falls in love with Sunaina, and calls her "Sania". Sunaina distracts Shastri and allows Shivani to meet Arjun in private. Meanwhile Kishan uses the opportunity to get close to Julie and makes her fall in love with him. Sunaina's sandal breaks and Shastri gifts her the sandals that Kishan (as Sarju) had gifted to Shivani. Then in the neighborhood also comes Matha Prasad (Rajpal Yadav) who runs a dairy farm and moonlights as the hit-man of Carlos. Matha hears Shastri refer to Sunaina as "Sania" and abducts her, as per instructions from Carlos. Then Rana arrives, followed by Namdev and Sania. Namdev arrests Rana and asks him to take them to Sarju (Since Sania said the bag is with Sarju). When they get there, Sania says that that's not the Sarju, who has the diamonds. Namdev and Sania figure out that Kishan is the fake Sarju and go after him. Rana figures out that Kishan has Rs 50 Crores worth of diamonds. He steals Sania's phone and calls Carlos directly. Rana says he has Sania in his custody. Matha and Rana both ask Carlos for Rs 50 Lakhs in exchange for returning Sania. Meanwhile Kishan escapes from Matha and reaches back where Arjun and Shastri have found the Sarju's bag. But Maane arrives with Sania and takes the bag at gunpoint. Kishan/Sunaina reveals that the bag had 50 Crores worth of diamonds. Now Sania and Namdev realize that the bag is empty, but Rana arrives and abducts Sania. Arjun tells Shivani that Sunaina is in fact Kishan. Meanwhile Shastri agrees to marry Shivani to Arjun if Sunaina agrees to marry him. Namdev tracks down Kishan and they all figure out that the diamonds are hidden in the sandals on Kishan's feet. Rana takes Sania to Carlos, who says that the diamonds are with Kishan. Carlos attacks the Bandra location with full force. Carlos forces Kishan to have over the sandal to him, but chaos ensues as Kishan throws the sandal as Carlos and everybody leaps at it. Carlos is eventually arrested by the police. Kishan reveals that he had stolen 1 diamond before handing over the sandal. The gang sells the diamond to pay for Titl's surgery.

Avi and Balraj engage in a friendly banter. Avi accuses Balraj of cheating at sports. Avi picks the ball and accidentally throws it in the wrong direction which ruins a painting. The young woman painting the picture, Malvika 'Millie' (Rani Mukherjee) gets furious with Balraj and leaves. Balraj admonishes Millie for trying to paint on a golf course. Balraj says that he had paid for a round of golf and that it is not a park where Millie can spread her equipment. Balraj insults Millie by saying that her painting was not very good in the first place. Millie is distraught as she had invested 3 days in the painting, and her father had taken special permission for her to paint on the golf course. Later on, Avi runs into Millie on the golf course, and they start to talk. Millie tells him that a stupid old man ruined her painting and points out that it was Balraj; but she doesn't know that the 'old man' is Avi's father, and he doesn't tell her. Avi says that Balraj is his boss, and he works for him for a pittance. They start to hang out together while slowly falling in love with each other. Avi tells Millie that he was fired from his job for speaking up his mind and standing up for the truth. Avi pursues Millie, but makes it sound like they are meeting by chance and that destiny is bringing them together. Later, Avi tells Millie that Balraj apologized for his actions and begged him to come back to work. Millie stays with her parents Jeet (Sharat Saxena) and Suman (Smita Jaykar). When Millie comes home, she is visited by her childhood friend Rajat (John Abraham). She tells him that she loves someone, which devastates him because he is also in love with her. One day, Millie goes to Avi's office to drop off a painting (Avi's interior designer had purchased 3 of Millie's paintings and she was delivering them) and finds out that Balraj is Avi's father. When Avi shows up, she leaves the office crying. He chases after her and says that the only reason he lied to her was because he loves her. She doesn't accept his apology right then, but when Balraj apologies to her for ruining her painting, she forgives them both. Avi asks Millie to get dressed up for a party at his house. When she arrives, there is no one except Avi. He proposes to her, and she accepts. The next day, Avi's whole family visits Millie's house to discuss marriage and everyone agrees, except Rajat. Rajat tells Avi that he'll let him marry her if only he promises to always keep her happy and never let her get sad. Balwant brings his entire family to the wedding, except Pushpa, whom he considers a bad omen and not fit for public functions. Balraj respects his wife's wishes and invites Pushpa for the Phere ceremony, overruling Balwant. Avi and Millie get married and soon they're expecting a child. Time goes on, Millie's water breaks while in yoga class and Avi and she flee to the hospital where they are blessed with a healthy baby boy. Their child Ansh grows up to be a sweet and intelligent boy. The family throws a birthday bash for Ansh and wait for Avi who is in a meeting. But Avi never arrives home. He is involved in an accident and dies. Millie is devastated. Balraj seeks to bring happiness back into Millie's life and gets into contact with Rajat. He learns that Rajat still loves Millie. Balraj asks Rajat to marry Millie. Rajat meets Ansh and bonds well with him. However, there is stiff opposition from Shobhna and Balraj's conservative older brother Balwant (Om Puri). Shobhna fears losing her grandson Ansh, while Balwant thinks a widow's remarriage is a sin. However, Balraj stands firm and convinces everyone. In the end, Rajat and Millie get married, and everything is well. Avinash comes in as a ghost and blesses his dad with happiness.

Jeetu (Shahid Kapoor) is a down-on-his-luck boy who loses money in whatever business he invests in. His debt keeps increasing. The biggest creditor to Jeetu is Sharmaji (Asrani). In total, Jeetu owes Rs 13 Lakhs 90 thousand to his creditors. He had borrowed money, to buy land and to plant mango saplings, but the land was acquired by the government to lay down a railway track. Due to his huge debts, his father Jai Dev (Anupam Kher), mother (Amita Nangia) and everyone else are worried about him. Jai Dev had already mortgaged his house to pay for Jeetu's failed business ventures. Frustrated, Jeetu breaks off his engagement to Pooja (Sushma Reddy). Pooja's father is Mohan Prakash (Manoj Joshi). Mohan hates Jeetu as he is good for nothing, but knows that Pooja is madly in love with Jeetu, and wont consider marrying anyone else till Jeetu is around. Jeetu decides to commit suicide so that his father can pay off all the debt with the insurance money after her death. Jeetu calls all the people from whom he has taken loan to the riverbank and after telling this, he jumps into the water. Even after people search extensively, his body is not found. Swimmers say that due to high water flow the body might have gone far away. Fishermen Gundiya (Paresh Rawal) and Bandya (Rajpal Yadav) find a man (who is actually Jeetu) in the net. They take him to the hospital and there they start thinking of Jeetu as dumb and deaf. Jeetu also starts doing similar drama. Jeetu had the list of creditors in his pocket, and the money he owed them, but Gundiya misunderstands that believes that Jeetu is a creditor and has to receive that amount of money from his debtors. Gundiya and Bandya hope to get Rs 5 Lakhs as reward for returning Jeetu to his family. Due to Jeetu's drama, Gundiya has no clue of his name or identity and hence cannot claim his reward. Meanwhile the police force Gundiya to take care of Jeetu till his identity is ascertained. Gundiya is worried about all the expenses he is incurring on Jeetu. Gundiya owes money to rich boat owner Prabhat. Prabhat Singh Chauhan (Om Puri) takes Gundiya's boat due to not getting his money. When Gundiya comes to him asking for the boat back, Prabhat Singh Chauhan asks him to give him something to keep as a guarantee. He gives Jeetu and Bandya as guarantee and goes away with the boat. Gundiya tells Prabhat that Jeetu is his nephew Kanhaiya. Natwar Jhunjhunwala (Shakti Kapoor) is Prabhat's manager. Both of them are made to work there as servants at Prabhat's house. Mangal (Suniel Shetty) is the head of the family, even though he is the son of Prabhat's elder brother. Shruti is Mangal's sister. Shruti is dumb and is hence sympathetic towards Jeetu. Meenakshi is Prabhat's daughter and they all live in the same house as a joint family. One day Meenakshi (Neha Dhupia) and Shruti (Kareena Kapoor) discover that Jeetu is not dumb and deaf. Instead of keeping his secret a secret, they want to do something else. Shruti's marriage is arranged in a house which is only greedy for money. The boy's family has for 2 companies and a lot of land as dowry in exchange for marriage with Shruti. To break this marriage, Meenakshi asks Jeetu to pretend to be Shruti's lover and call her fiance, due to which the wedding proposal breaks. Mangal suspects Jeetu of sabotaging the proposal and beats him senseless. But Prabhat intervenes and tells Mangal that even Jeetu is deaf and dumb and hence could not have called the boy's family. Mangal gives Jeetu a job for Rs 20,000 per month. Meenakshi wants Jeetu to leave the house, but Jeetu also refuses and says that he will reveal that Meenakshi was behind the plot to break Shruti's wedding. One day, Sharma comes to meet Prabhat and Meenakshi sees Jeetu hiding from him. Meenakshi learns that Jeetu has a lot of debt and can do anything for money. Meenakshi gets Jeetu's photo from Sharma and realizes that this is the same Kanhaiya who has been living in their house. Before Meenakshi can say anything to Prabhat, Jeetu and Prabhat go by car with a lot of money and meet with a road accident. Due to both of them not returning, they feel as if Jeetu has done something. On Meenakshi's request, the police catch Jeetu and beat him thoroughly. Prabhat returns home and tells that his car met with an accident, after which Jeetu took him to the hospital and after giving the money to the person to whom he was supposed to pay, he went to get the medicine, but did not return. Knowing this they all feel regretful. Meenakshi and Shruti know that Prabhat has been stealing money from Mangal to run his own businesses which are all making losses. In fact, the money that Sharma loaned Jeetu, belonged to Prabhat. They threaten to reveal the truth to Mangal and Prabhat is very afraid of Mangal. Meenakshi and Shruti force Prabhat to give them Rs 13.9 Lakhs and send the money to Jeetu's village through the hands of Bandya. When Bandya meets Mohan, he realizes that Kanhaiya is really Jeetu and is neither deaf nor dumb. Bandya comes and tells that Pooja has got married, hearing which Jeetu becomes happy. Jeetu still won't go back to the village as he knows that Pooja only married someone else believing the Jeetu is dead. Seeing him alive would make Pooja feel very guilty. But in reality, Pooja was living with Jai Dev as Jeetu's widow. Meanwhile, Shruti expresses her love to Jeetu. Mangal learns that Shruti is in love with Jeetu and decides to get them married. Jeetu, now free from debt and in love with Shruti, agrees to the marriage. Jeetu reveals to Mangal that he is not deaf or dumb and assures him that Shruti knew of his reality, and he never betrayed her trust. Meanwhile, Jeetu's family members come to know that Jeetu is alive, when Mangal sends them money via Bandya and Gundiya. Jai Dev goes to meet Jeetu on the day of the wedding, and Jeetu is shocked to learn that Pooja never married anyone else and is living as his widow. He cannot explain anything to Jai Dev as Prabhat pulls him inside the house. Later, Jeetu explains everything to Shruti and goes home to get Pooja's permission to marry Shruti. The family wants Jeetu to accept Pooja, but he is helpless. Jai Dev and Mohan come to the wedding ceremony, and everyone starts arguing. When Pooja learns that Shruti cannot speak, she changes her mind and asks Jeetu to marry Shruti. After this, Jeetu and Shruti get married, and they live happily ever after.

When Pooja gets pregnant, both Ishwar and Sumitra decide to make Aditya realize his responsibilities, as he will have to take care of his wife and child. They take drastic measures and throw Aditya out of the house along with Pooja. As a result, Aditya and Pooja live in a room at the back of the house in the garden. The force becomes so bad that Aditya begins to hate his father and they do not speak to each other for a long time. At the same time Aditya becomes aware of his role in life. However, Ishwar has done all this for a reason and is hiding something. Ishwar is trying to make sure that his son is secure but because he is suffering from lung cancer and he wants his son to be responsible. Aditya succeeds in becoming a responsible man and also finds out the truth about his father when his father comes for his performance on the stage. He steps on the stage but instead he asks the audience to pray to god to give a minute of their lives to keep his father alive until his son's birth. His father is alive until his son is born and he names the baby boy 'Ishwar' after himself and he dies. The movie reaches its climax with Aditya welcoming children at his father's toy factory and playing with an alone, disabled boy like Ishwar did at the start of the film with his family there including his toddler Ishwar. The spirit of Ishwar touches Sumitra's flowers in her hair and it reminds her of the old times.

Mujhse Shaadi Karogi is the story of Sameer (Salman Khan) and how misfortune pans into his life during the most crucial of moments and incidents. He falls in love with Rani (Priyanka Chopra) who lives in a villa opposite his flat, but here too, things are not pleasant as Rani`s father (Amrish Puri) has problems with him. Things worsen when Sunny (Akshay Kumar) moves into the same flat as Sameer`s for he too falls in love with Rani and decides to take her away from Sameer. It is upto Rani now to decide whether she loves Sameer, or Sunny.

Aan: Men at Work is a 2009 Bollywood action film about police officers` constant fight against crime. Crime is at its peak in Mumbai and the CBI is persistently working towards quelling the lawlessness. A team of police officers put their foot down and vow to bring down the criminals and mafias.

A man is trapped in a murder conspiracy and no one believes him and gets further blackmailed by the killer. Now he must race against time to find out who is the real killer and uncover his secret motive behind it. Abby and Maxi are in love and travel for a holiday to Pokhara, Nepal. Once there, Abby meets an attractive young woman named Tanya and both are attracted to each other. Tanya asks a drunken Abby to accompany her to her room, which he does. The next day Abby wakes up and finds Tanya's body, with her skull virtually crushed, next to him. He runs from the scene, quite certain that he will be blamed for killing her. He confides in Bunty, the local Guide, and Maxi, and both disbelieve him. It is now up to Abby to find out who really killed Tanya, what was the motive for her death, and who wanted him at the scene of the crime.

In 1992, Deven Chaudhary (Ajay Devgn) lives with his mother Suhasini (Farida Jalal) and 10 year-old only son Raj (Vatsal Sheth). Deven spends considerable time designing the perfect car, calling it DC - which is very futuristic and more advanced than any other car in the market - and registering its patent. The SUV car is said to have 400BHP and 500NM of torque, as well as making it from 0-60 in 5.2 seconds. He also looks after an older Morris Minor MM, handed over to him by his late father, and calls it "Taarzan", which is based on the car's mirror ornament of the Disney character Tarzan. He meets with Rakesh Kapoor (Pankaj Dheer) and his partners, who praise his design but decline dealing with him, as they do not want to give royalty as part of the deal. Later, Deven finds that Kapoor and his partners conned him and registered his design under their name. Deven reports this to a police officer, Inspector Sanjay Sharma (Deepak Shirke), but the latter turns out to be on Kapoor's payroll. Kapoor, along with his cronies and Sharma, attack, and lock Deven in his car. The car is then pushed into the river, causing a bound and gagged Deven to die. Unaware of the truth behind Deven's death, his mother decides to bring up her grandson alone. 12 years later, in 2004, Raj Chaudary (Vatsal Sheth) is now a 22-year-old boy, living with Suhasini, and studies at a college where he falls in love with a rich girl named Priya Rakesh Kapoor (Ayesha Takia). Priya had recently transferred to the college from London and is attracted towards Raj's simplicity and honesty. Rocky (Sikandar Kharbanda) is the college Romeo cum bully and harasses Priya. The young Raj now works in the garage of Kartar Singh (paji) (Amrish Puri) as a mechanic. One day, Raj discovers Taarzan and recognizes it immediately. He somehow pools money and buys it at a throwaway price, which was 5000 rupees. Raj wants to update the car that reminds him of his father Deven. Little does he know that with the car, he has also brought back his father, whose soul is trapped inside the car. Rocky spikes Priya's drink in a bid to rape her, but Raj accidentally drinks that and proposes his love to Priya, which she finds charming. Kartar is moved on learning this and aides Raj in repairing Taarzan. Taarzan is totally revamped into a car even more advanced than Deven's design and Raj decides to rename it DC (as Raj's father's name Deven Chaudhary), to honor Deven's memory. Rocky and his entourage attacks Raj when they see that Raj has a spanking new car and Priya with him. That night the car drives itself and attacks Rocky and his goons and injures them badly. Rocky gets really scared and thinks Raj was behind the attack. Here, Deven's spirit possesses Taarzan and starts killing all those who were responsible for the murder: He kills Kailash Chopra (Mukesh Tiwari) when the latter is on his way to Palghar (The car is badly damaged in this, but it completely self-repairs back to its pristine new condition), he then kills Mahesh Saxena (Shakti Kapoor) during New Year's Eve (by drowning him in the same lake where Deven was killed), he kills officer Sanjay Sharma, in the latter's police jeep by pushing it down a ravine & when Sanjay tries to hide in his garage, Deven spills motor oil all over it and sets fire to it which consumes Sanjay. and finally, he kills Anthony D' Costa (Sadashiv Amrapurkar) when D' Costa decides to stay away from the car, by going to Nagpur. Since the car now belongs to Raj, he becomes a suspect in eyes of Inspector Khurana (Gulshan Grover), the investigating officer. Khurana has traced the car tracks to the location of Kailash's death and its license plate was recorded by Mahesh's wife before Mahesh was killed. But Khurana is unable to pin Raj since he has a solid alibi for both instances. But at the time of D'Costa's death, Raj and Priya find his car missing and go to Khurana. Khurana receives a call from D'Costa, saying that the car is trying to kill him, while Raj and Priya are sitting in front of him. The mystery deepens. Here, Kapoor returns to India after learning that all his partners have died. Kapoor is revealed to be Priya's father. When the car returns to Raj's garage, he chains it to avoid any further murders. Khurana threatens to crush the car if it is connected to any further deaths. On Priya's insistence, Kapoor goes to meet Raj, but after learning that Raj is Deven's son, Kapoor assumes that Raj has somehow found the truth and is using Priya as a pawn. Kapoor decides to kill Raj and take Priya back with him to London. Priya and Raj are both clueless, but Raj is shocked when Kapoor tells him the truth. Here, Taarzan comes alive again and in front of disbelieving eyes of Kapoor and Raj, jumps in the ocean to save Raj. Deven's spirit now becomes visible to everybody. In front of Raj, Suhasini, Priya, and Inspector Khurana, a terrified Kapoor confesses the crime. Khurana arrests Kapoor, while Deven says his last goodbye to Suhasini and Raj. With Raj, Suhasini, and Priya united, Deven's spirit becomes free, and he ascends to heaven, with Raj and Priya living a happy life afterwards. Later Raj marries Priya.

After their car breaks down in the middle of the night, seven friends find shelter and tell one another stories to kill time till dawn. Seven friends are traveling through a forest when their car breaks down in the dark and they decide to tell horror stories to pass the time. But after each story one friend gets scared and goes back to the car. 1) Karan and Anjali get stuck in the forest when their car suddenly stops while Anjali sees Karan going into creep but next moment he is standing besides her claiming to be normal. 2) Anil Manchandani , a smoker, checks into a hotel whose owner is weird and hates smoking. 3) Pramila, a little girl who is not a good student, has several complaints from her teacher; suddenly the teacher gets scared of her when her behavior changes. 4) Homemaker Gayatri finds an apple-seller suspicious; the next morning she finds that things around her house have turned into apples--including her husband. 5) John is waiting outside a graveyard for a lift; when Amar lets him in his car, he reveals that he died few days back. 6) Purab, considered a loser by everyone, suddenly gets the power to STOP things around him. —alex.mjacko@gmail.com Six city students take refuge in deserted ruins when stranded on a highway and start telling one another scary stories to keep amused. Unlike the usual Indian horror film, this does not resort to sound effects and visuals for thrills. Each sketch has its moments, though a couple of them could have been brilliant with small script changes and a resistance to oversimplifying. Most of the actors do decent jobs, especially Raghubir Yadav as the freaked-out teacher. —Joyojeet Pal A group of friends are stranded in a remote rural area when their vehicle breaks down. After exploring their whereabouts they find an abandoned house and decide to spend the night there, sharing supernatural and horror stories. The friends disappear one by one, and nobody seems to know what happened to them. As the remaining friends share stories of the occult, they realize that some are missing and go look for them. They are about to get married when Veer gets visions which have never happened to him. One day as the CM was giving a speech, Veer spots a sniper aiming at him and runs to stop him. However, on reaching there he finds there is no sniper. Convinced that something has been hidden from him all along, Veer gets restless. Thakur tells him then that he is not their son, neither the real Veer. Veer (Arbaaz Khan) had died in serving in the line of duty as a soldier and then while immersing his ashes, they found a man who had no memories of his past. They brought him hoke as Veer. To find out his identity, Veer (Salman) goes to Mumbai. There he meets a teenager who calls him Ali bhaiya. The teenager dies protecting him from an assassin. Meanwhile, Veer meets Inder (Inder Kumar) and it is confirmed that his name is Ali. The teenager was his orphaned brother and Inder was his friend. The girl who he saw in his dreams, was Mehak (Sushmita Sen), his love. He learns that he was on a run from the police for shooting the CM, which was only a plan that he was supposed to enact but the CM was actually shot and killed instead. Now the rest is how Ali finds the real killer and frees himself from the malicious accusation of murdering the CM.

A thief pretends to be a cop in order to recover his diamond from a site that has been converted into the police headquarters. Although he becomes a favourite of the ACP, a colleague gets suspicious. Just before his arrest, Shyam manages to hide a diamond at a nearby construction site, intending to retrieve it as soon as he gets out of prison. When he's released two years later, he's horrified to discover that the building site is now police headquarters, with his stolen gem forming part of the foundation. Shyam decides to create and play the role of Inspector Ram and soon becomes the favourite of ACP Ranbir Singh (Paresh Rawal) at the police station. But life is not that easy for the impostor, who quickly comes to the attention of the ever-suspicious Inspector Pande (Om Puri). Amidst all this mayhem Ram actually finds time to romance Inspector Ranjita (Bipasha Basu). But he also plays the character of Shyam with Ranbir's daughter Komal (Shilpa Shetty). Soon they become lovers. After his release, he's horrified to see that the building now houses police headquarters. He decides to pose as Inspector Ram and get employed at police headquarters, with the motive of retrieving the diamond. Upon his discharge, he and his associates return to retrieve the diamond, and are horrified to find that the venue is now the new Police Headquarters. Shyam manages to change his name to Ram, gets hired as a Police Inspector, and locates the diamond. Mumtaz (Tabu) is a naive young rural woman whose family is killed in communal riots. After her village is burnt to the ground, she moves to Mumbai with her uncle, the only family member she has left. They are desperately poor and her uncle persuades her to become a bar girl (dancer) at Chandni Bar. He promises her that this is merely temporary, until he is able to get a job. Mumtaz is shy and loathes the work, but she forces herself to dance and flirt. However, her uncle doesn't keep his word; he lives on her earnings, drinking them away, and never gets a job. One night, after spending time drinking and watching the girls dance at the bar, Mumtaz's uncle rapes her. Mumtaz is distraught and emotionally confides in the other dancers. Even though they console her, Mumtaz is given a reality check when she realises that many other women at the bar have equally disturbing and painful stories. She manages to pull herself together and immerses herself in her work at the bar. Eventually, Mumtaz catches the eye of a gangster called Pottya Sawant (Atul Kulkarni). He attempts to seduce her and finally resorts to paying her for sex. Mumtaz, however, cannot go through with the deed and tells Pottya about her rape. Enraged, Pottya kills her uncle and marries Mumtaz. Mumtaz leaves the bar, and Pottya rises up the criminal ranks quickly, despite his volatile temper. The couple live a happy life with their son, Abhay, and daughter, Payal. Mumtaz wishes for Abhay and Payal to be educated, and stay far away from her world of dancing girls and Pottya's world of gangsters. Pottya's attitude and temper cause him to prematurely kill another gangster, which results in him losing friends and connections in the criminal world. He becomes a target for the police. He is captured and killed in an operation to 'eliminate' various Mumbai gangsters. A grieving Mumtaz slowly runs out of money and soon realises that Pottya has left behind a large amount of debt. With no source of income, she is forced to return to work at Chandni Bar. Years pass and Mumtaz still works at Chandni Bar: now as a waitress. She manages to provide a stable environment for Abhay and Payal, who are teenagers. Mumtaz encourages her children to do well in school, so that they can move away from their surroundings of crime and gangs. Abhay is very studious and performs well in classes, but soon befriends a group of troublemakers and delinquents. Despite being warned by Mumtaz, he continues to see his friends. One day, Abhay and his group are arrested by police for extortion and held in a juvenile prison. Even though he was not part of the crime, his reputation as Pottya's son causes the police to ignore his pleas of innocence. At the prison, Abhay is raped by a pair of older inmates. Mumtaz attempts to talk to the police, to no avail. She meets with some influential people, who have police connections and can get Abhay released. They agree to help her but demand a high price, which she must bring to them in less than two days. Mumtaz has no choice and sells her body to obtain the money. She is still short. Seeing her mother's plight, Payal takes up dancing at Chandni Bar and brings the money to her troubled mother. Having secured the money, Mumtaz is able to get Abhay released. However, she notices that he is not the same happy boy he was a few days earlier. Instead, he is cold, ruthless, and is looking for revenge. Abhay makes connections in the crime world and gets a gun, which he uses to kill the boys who raped him. Mumtaz arrives on the scene and is devastated to find that her son has become a killer.
