Balraj Kapoor (Amitabh Bachchan) is a rich businessman, happy and content with his world. He and his wife Shobhna (Hema Malini) live happily together, and they wait for their only son Avinash 'Avi' (Salman Khan) to return from his studies abroad. After an absence of 7 years, Avinash comes back to India. He reunites with his parents at the airport and races home. Back home, Avi joins his father's business. Balraj is very competitive and even engages Avi is a car race from time to time. Balwant is Balraj's elder brother. Pushpa Kapoor (Sarika) is Balraj and Balwant's widowed younger sister-in-law who has always been looked down upon by Balwant for being a widow. Panchi (Rajpal Yadav) is the household servant and chauffeur. Balwant has a son Khushi (Parmeet Sethi). Balwant insists that Indian traditions are followed in the house with full respect to the culture and religious practices. One day they decide to go golfing. Avi and Balraj engage in a friendly banter. Avi accuses Balraj of cheating at sports. Avi picks the ball and accidentally throws it in the wrong direction which ruins a painting. The young woman painting the picture, Malvika 'Millie' (Rani Mukherjee) gets furious with Balraj and leaves. Balraj admonishes Millie for trying to paint on a golf course. Balraj says that he had paid for a round of golf and that it is not a park where Millie can spread her equipment. Balraj insults Millie by saying that her painting was not very good in the first place. Millie is distraught as she had invested 3 days in the painting, and her father had taken special permission for her to paint on the golf course. Later on, Avi runs into Millie on the golf course, and they start to talk. Millie tells him that a stupid old man ruined her painting and points out that it was Balraj; but she doesn't know that the 'old man' is Avi's father, and he doesn't tell her. Avi says that Balraj is his boss, and he works for him for a pittance. They start to hang out together while slowly falling in love with each other. Avi tells Millie that he was fired from his job for speaking up his mind and standing up for the truth. Avi pursues Millie, but makes it sound like they are meeting by chance and that destiny is bringing them together. Later, Avi tells Millie that Balraj apologized for his actions and begged him to come back to work. Millie stays with her parents Jeet (Sharat Saxena) and Suman (Smita Jaykar). When Millie comes home, she is visited by her childhood friend Rajat (John Abraham). She tells him that she loves someone, which devastates him because he is also in love with her. One day, Millie goes to Avi's office to drop off a painting (Avi's interior designer had purchased 3 of Millie's paintings and she was delivering them) and finds out that Balraj is Avi's father. When Avi shows up, she leaves the office crying. He chases after her and says that the only reason he lied to her was because he loves her. She doesn't accept his apology right then, but when Balraj apologies to her for ruining her painting, she forgives them both. Avi asks Millie to get dressed up for a party at his house. When she arrives, there is no one except Avi. He proposes to her, and she accepts. The next day, Avi's whole family visits Millie's house to discuss marriage and everyone agrees, except Rajat. Rajat tells Avi that he'll let him marry her if only he promises to always keep her happy and never let her get sad. Balwant brings his entire family to the wedding, except Pushpa, whom he considers a bad omen and not fit for public functions. Balraj respects his wife's wishes and invites Pushpa for the Phere ceremony, overruling Balwant. Avi and Millie get married and soon they're expecting a child. Time goes on, Millie's water breaks while in yoga class and Avi and she flee to the hospital where they are blessed with a healthy baby boy. Their child Ansh grows up to be a sweet and intelligent boy. The family throws a birthday bash for Ansh and wait for Avi who is in a meeting. But Avi never arrives home. He is involved in an accident and dies. Millie is devastated. Balraj seeks to bring happiness back into Millie's life and gets into contact with Rajat. He learns that Rajat still loves Millie. Balraj asks Rajat to marry Millie. Rajat meets Ansh and bonds well with him. However, there is stiff opposition from Shobhna and Balraj's conservative older brother Balwant (Om Puri). Shobhna fears losing her grandson Ansh, while Balwant thinks a widow's remarriage is a sin. However, Balraj stands firm and convinces everyone. In the end, Rajat and Millie get married, and everything is well. Avinash comes in as a ghost and blesses his dad with happiness.

Mangal Pandey: The Rising is a biographical drama based on the life of Mangal Pandey, an Indian sepoy in the British Army of the East India Company who sparked India's first war of Independence in 1857.

It is the year 1857, a large part of the Indian subcontinent is under the control of the British East India Company. The private company has its own administration, laws and its own army, which controls the fate of 20% of world's humanity. On 7 April, in Barrackpore in West Bengal, Mangal Pandey (Aamir Khan), a Sepoy (soldier of Indian origin) in the 34th Bengal Native Infantry of the company's army, is being led to his execution by hanging for fomenting mutiny against company rule. Witnessing the execution is Pandey's friend, Captain William Gordon (Toby Stephens), who is relieved when the execution is delayed due to the hangman's refusal to hang Pandey. Gordon knows that he is responsible for the upcoming wars between India and the British Empire. The film then flashes back to four years earlier. While fighting in Afghanistan, Pandey saves Gordon's life by dragging him to safety when the two were targeted by Afghan snipers. Afterwards, Gordon seeks out Pandey at a camp and offers him his pistol as a token of gratitude. 4 years later (31 December 1856), during the New Year Eve's ball at the Governor General's palace in Calcutta, Pandey angers Captain Hewson (Ben Nealon) when he attempts to stop him from severely beating an Indian servant for inadvertently touching Emily Kent (Coral Beed), the daughter of Mr. Graham Kent (Kenneth Cranham), an influential British businessman. Gordon witnesses the assault but does not stop it leading to tension with Pandey. However, he apologizes to Pandey during a wrestling match and a friendship is formed between them transcending rank, color and race. Gordon even participates with Pandey to sabotage Hewson's horse-riding gear, which leads to Hewson falling on his back in a comic fashion. Officer Lockwood (Simon Chandler) is the company auditor who has been sent from England specifically to look into the company's affairs in India, and investigate the charges of corruption and wrong doing. Company's biggest business in India is opium. Company forces Indian farmers to grow Opium and pay them a pittance for it. They would sell this Opium in China at inflated prices and buy spices and silks from them. When the Emperor of China resisted, the company attacked China and wrested Hing Kong from them, using Indian soldiers for the battle. Lockwood raids the warehouse of a Parsi trader Sohrabjee (Sohrab Ardeshir) and finds stacks of privately purchased Opium ready to be shipped to China. Sohrabjee tries to Lockwood out with a bribe of 3000 pounds. But Lockwood burns the entire stock of Opium since the Company has a monopoly on the opium trade in India. The farmers who sold the Opium to Sohrabjee (under orders from Company officers), their lands are confiscated, and when they protest, the army fires on them and sets their village on fire. Meanwhile, the installation of communication wires all over the country have enabled telegraph services, which allows the East India Company to move troops to the troubled regions quickly, and before the situation gets out of hand. The company then introduces a new weapon in January 1857 for its troops: the Enfield rifled musket. Rumors spread among the Sepoy that the paper cartridges holding the powder and ball for the rifle are greased with either pig fat or beef tallow; the process of loading the rifle requires the soldier to bite down on the cartridge, and the soldiers believe that this would cause them to consume pork or beef - acts abhorrent to Muslim and Hindu soldiers, respectively, for religious reasons. A low-caste laborer named Nainsukh (Atul Kumar) teases Pandey, a Brahmin, that he has lost his caste by using such a gun, but Pandey dismisses Nainsukh's taunts. The Sepoy, led by Pandey, express their concerns to General Hearsey (Jeremy Clyde), but he reassures them that no such cartridge exists. The Sepoy remain concerned when they are asked to test-fire the new rifle at musketry drill, but Gordon, after talking to Hearsey, reiterates that no such cartridge exists and asks a Sepoy to test-fire the rifle. Pandey volunteers, and his fellow Sepoy chastise him afterward. However, demonstrating his trust in Gordon, he states his belief that the rumors are untrue. Meanwhile, Gordon stops a Sati ceremony from occurring and rescues a widow, Jwala (Ameesha Patel). Jwala says that she was forcefully married to a 60-year-old man, who had grown children. The Sarpanch demands that Gordon return Jwala, but he refuses. Gordon arranges for her to be treated, and the two gradually become closer, eventually having an affair. Pandey sides with Gordon on the matter, earning the ire of his community. Pandey further earns Captain Hewson's ire by stopping him from trying to sexually assault a prostitute named Heera (Rani Mukerji), who was sold to a brothel run by Lol Bibi (Kirron Kher) exclusively for British soldiers. While slavery was banned in Britain, the company allowed it in India, as it was a means of entertainment for the white soldiers and this way the army remained free of any serious diseases. Pandey suffers a serious beating from Hewson and three other officers the next day, but Gordon intervenes and saves Pandey. Pandey meets Heera at the brothel afterwards, and they begin to fall in love with each other. Sometime later, Nainsukh takes Pandey and some other Sepoy to see the factory, owned by Mr. Kent, where the cartridge grease is made; indeed, the grease turns out to be pig fat and beef tallow. Pandey, believing Gordon lied to him, returns Gordon's pistol, and ends their friendship. Hearing of the 34th Regiment's refusal to use the rifles, the 19th Regiment at Berhampore also refuses to use them in a parade at the ground on 12 February 1857, and mutiny brews among the Sepoy. Gordon unsuccessfully attempts to dissuade Pandey and the mutineers from rebelling and is likewise unsuccessful at convincing Major General George Anson (Christopher Adamson), the Commander-in-Chief, India, to abandon using the cartridges. The mutineers, meanwhile, meet with Tatya Tope (Deepraj Rana) and his messenger Azimullah (Shahbaz Khan) and they all agree to unite under the leadership of the elderly Mughal emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar (Habib Tanvir) and rise in rebellion. Anson decides to send the Queen's Regiment from Rangoon to intercept and subdue the rebels; it is scheduled to arrive in Berhampore on 1 April. Heera informs Pandey of this plan, having spent the previous night with Hewson. The rebels revise their timetable to march on 30 March, but the wife of one of the rebels, angry at her husband after an argument in which he tells her of the impending revolt, informs her British employer woman of the plans. As the employer woman is having an affair with Hewson at the time, he overhears the conversation and later tortures the rebel into revealing the date of the march. On 29 March, the mutineers are informed of the Rangoon Regiment's arrival. Pandey attempts to rally them into fending off the attack, and when the officers, including Gordon, inquire as to what they are doing, the rebels turn on them. With the regiment's arrival, the mutineers want to throw down their weapons; Pandey, however, fires at the opposing forces, killing two and injuring four. Later on, he was court-martialed, and Gordon testified on his behalf, passionately defending his actions and warning of bloody rebellion if he is hanged. Despite Gordon's warning, the court-martial imposes a death sentence on Pandey. The night before Pandey's execution, Heera visits him in his jail cell and has him place Sindoor on her forehead, marking their marriage. The next day (on 8 April), in front of Gordon, the British officers, his fellow Sepoy, and the townspeople, Pandey is hanged. Inspired by his execution, the spectators break out in revolt. The film ends with drawings of the Indian Rebellion of 1857, and footage of the later Indian independence movement.

His attempts to woo girls are mocked, and he is ignored and made fun of by his room-mates. One day he befriends an NRI, Payal Khurana, who thinks he is disabled and dumb. She feels sorry for him and decides to assist him get his voice back - albeit in vain. Sunder is thrilled at the attention he is getting, and decides to continue to pull wool over her eyes to be near her. Raj Malhotra (Salman Khan) and Priya (Rani Mukerji) are members of high society. Raj is grandson of wealthy industrialist Kailashnath Malhotra. Raj's parents are Ranjit Kumar Malhotra (Dalip Tahil) and Asha (Farida Jalal). Pappu Bhai (Johnny Lever) is the manager of Kailashnath's estate. Pappu has the habit of blinking involuntarily. Dr Balraj Chopra (Prem Chopra) is the family physician. Raj and Priya meet at a wedding, where Raj gets the impression that Priya has a child. In reality the child belonged to Priya's sister-in-law (Sheela Sharma). Kailashnath dearly wants Raj to get married. Priya's sister-in-law reaches out to Kailashnath for a meeting between the families. After a misunderstanding, where Raj understands Priya's sister-in-law to be his prospective bride, all doubts are cleared and the marriage is set. They get married and soon Priya gets pregnant. Soon after, Priya trips, miscarries, and becomes permanently infertile. On the doctor's advice, the couple conceal this fact from their family. Kailash has had 2 heart attacks already and he would not be able to take the strain of another attack. Priya knows how much a child means to the family. Raj says that they will adopt a child while they are abroad, but Priya says that an adopted kid will never look anything like Raj. Priya wants Raj to marry again, but he refuses. Priya convinces Raj to have a child with another woman. They decide to secretly look for a surrogate mother to bear Raj's child. No normal girl would agree to Raj's inquires on the matter. Raj forms a business partnership with Ajay Sharma (Adi Irani), who will market all of Raj's products in Europe. Raj meets Madhubala aka Madhu (Preity Zinta), a prostitute whom he brings to a hotel room. He discusses his situation with Madhu, who agrees to have Raj's baby, for the Rs 10 Lakh compensation offered by Raj. Raj lodges Madhu in a 5-star hotel. But Madhu is very raw and loud. She is rejected by the entire elite ecosystem. Ajay sees Raj with Priya and understands that he has hired a prostitute. After some much-needed grooming (He makes Madhu give up smoking and changes her entire wardrobe. He teaches her how to use cutlery, and gives her a makeover), Madhu meets Priya--who will be left unaware that Madhu was a prostitute--and the three depart for Switzerland together to carry out their plan. Priya stays in the guest room and asks Raj to sleep with Madhu. But Raj sleeps on the couch. One night, in a heavy snowstorm, Priya makes sure that she gets in a church, giving the entire night to Raj and Madhu alone in the house. Raj finally has sex with Madhu. Soon Madhu is pregnant with Raj's child, and he happily tells his family that Priya is expecting. Ajay is in Switzerland as part of the business deal with Raj. Ajay starts sexually harassing Madhu until she's ready to leave, upset at the thought that Raj told his friend that she is a prostitute (he didn't). Although Priya finds out about Madhu's past, she still believes that Madhu should carry their child, and she begs her to stay. Finally, the partner assaults Madhu while (he thinks) she's home alone, but Raj returns in time to save her. Overwhelmed by Raj's kindness, Madhu falls in love with him. Raj's family suddenly arrives in Switzerland. While Priya reaches for pregnancy-simulating pillows, the family meet the heavily pregnant Madhu and Raj tells them that she's a friend who's staying with him and Priya while her husband is business-traveling. The whole family takes the same care of Madhu, as they do for Priya. Madhu is emotional at being treated as a part of such a loving and caring family. Raj's grandfather Kailashnath Malhotra (Amrish Puri) arranges a religious ceremony and tells Raj and Priya that they are going back to India; this also includes Madhu. The ceremony is very important, so Priya sends Madhu dressed as herself and her face fully covered. The emotion at the ceremony is too much for Madhu and she becomes conflicted about giving up her child. Priya finds Madhu's room empty and the money dumped on the bed, and pursues her to the train station, only to slap Madhu when she confesses that she loves Raj. By the time Raj gets there, Madhu has gone into premature labor. The doctor announces that only one--Madhu or her child--can be saved, and Priya asks him to save Madhu. However, both mother and baby survive and seem likely to thrive. Madhu gives the baby to Priya, who quickly settles into a hospital bed with "her" baby. The doctor tells the family that Madhu's child was stillborn. When Madhu is ready to leave, she promises Raj that she won't go back to prostitution. When he takes her to the airport, he realizes that she loved him and kisses her forehead. Madhu leaves happily, ready, and able to start fresh, as Raj and Priya start their own new lives as thankful and proud parents.

Hey Ram is a crime drama film directed by Kamal Haasan. The story follows the semi-fictional era of India`s Partition. The story showcases an extremist who shares a similar ideology as Nathuram Godse, the guy who killed Mahatama Ghandhi. The movie features Kamal Haasan, Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukerji in lead roles.

Jeeva (Bobby Deol) is from a struggling family. He falls in love with Kiran (Malaika Arora Khan). Due to their differences in social class, Kiran's father does not approve of their relationship. To punish Jeeva, Kiran's father frames his mother Neha (Farida Jalal) and two sisters for prostitution and bribes the police into arresting them, which leads to the three of them committing suicide (by setting themselves up on fire) due to pressure from the society. Kiran also kills herself, ashamed of what her father has done. Jeeva seeks revenge by killing Kiran's father (Mohan Joshi). Jeeva later becomes one of India's most dangerous assassins in Bombay with Madan Bhai as his handler, and the only person who knows his identity. Jeeva is a conscientious killer when he takes the contract to eliminate Pankaj Kharbanda (Pramod Moutho), who wanted to grab the slum land by displacing poor people. The slum dwellers gathers Rs 5 Lakhs for Jeeva's fees, but he charges them only Rs 1 per bullet. Jeeva then craftily lures Pankaj out of his secure office by mounting an attack and then eliminates him with ease. Jeeva stays in a society and is known to the neighbors as a doctor. Jeeva lives with Scorpions in his apartment. Jeeva lives next to the Bali family. The father Vikas Bali (Ishrat Ali) works for a corrupt police officer named Devraj Khatri (Ashish Vidyarthi) who works in the drug trade. Devraj confronts Vikas for adulterating drugs by 50% and supplying that to Devraj's customers. Devraj finds this out when one of his regular customer complains about the quality of the drugs supplied. Devraj wants Vikas to admit how much money he made, but Vikas maintains that he did nothing of the sort. But secretly Vikas admits to his wife that he mixed the drugs to earn some extra money to fulfill her desires for material possessions and to separate her and Kiran (by getting Kiran a different apartment as he cannot stand the daily bickering between Kiran and her stepmother. Kiran Bali (Rani Mukherji) is the youngest daughter of the family and strongly dislikes them. She has a stepmother (Dolly Bindra), who mistreats Kiran and has a bias in favor of her own daughter Nikki. Kiran's brother Vijay (Sachin Khedekar) is coming to town to meet her. Kiran tries to befriend Jeeva many times, but he is too engrossed in his killing to have any time for her. S.K. Puri (Police Commissioner) (Avtar Gill) wants to arrest this unknown assassin who is causing deep embarrassment to the police department as he is able to take-out high-profile targets with ease, without being seen, and without leaving any evidence for the police to lead to him. One day, Kiran is in Jeeva's apartment delivering milk to him. While she is there Devraj Khatri comes to Bali's apartment and brutally kills them all (including her brother Vijay) - Kiran is the only one to survive as she was in Jeeva's apartment. Kiran saw Devraj shoot her brother and father from Jeeva's keyhole in the front door. She faints while witnessing the shooting, but later regains her consciousness, after the police has done their job and carried the dead bodies away. Kiran calls Puri and says she can identify the shooters. A mole inspector Khan (Mahavir Shah) informs Devraj, who figures out that Kiran was hiding in a neighbor's apartment. When Kiran reaches home, she tells Jeeva that she called the police. Jeeva immediately sets fire to the apartment and escapes with Kiran. Kiran figures out that Jeeva is an assassin, and she begs Jeeva to train her. Jeeva soon finds himself taking Kiran under his wing and so, he trains her in handling weapons to get revenge against the men who had brutally murdered her family. It's not easy as Kiran insists that she will stay with Jeeva. Jeeva is unable to carry out his missions as Kiran keeps delaying him. One day she takes him shopping, one day she washes all his guns and so on. But he likes Kiran and cares for her. Madan Bhai (Veerendra Saxena) is Jeeva's friend and his handler. He figures out that Jeeva is now in love and hence not as efficient as he used to be. Slowly both Jeeva and Kiran figure out that they both love each other. Devraj launches many attempts to kill Kiran, but Jeeva is able to save her every time with his alertness. Meanwhile Puri investigates and finds that Vikas Bali was twice arrested on drug possession charges but released on Devraj's testimony to the court. Puri summons Devraj and he is alerted to Puri's investigations. Jeeva starts training Kiran so she can defend herself. Meanwhile he investigates the death of Vikas Bali and finds out that Devraj is responsible. He organizes a counterattack on Devraj, and even hits his target, but unfortunately Devraj survives. Now Kiran goes after Devraj, but he is alert and captures her. Jeeva rescues Kiran, while Devraj is away. But Devraj tortures Madan Bhai and finds where Jeeva is hiding with Kiran. Devraj attacks Jeeva with full force. Jeeva is able to get Kiran to escape through the back pipes of the apartment and sacrifices himself to kill Devraj with a lethal grenade blast. Madan Bhai meets Kiran and hands her the entire wealth that Jeeva had accumulated over the years.

Raj/Raju (Salman Khan) is an orphan, brought up by Mrs Godhinho, who teaches Raj music in Goa. When Raj grows up, he comes to Mumbai as a professional singer trying to make his way in the big city. Raj believes that Mumbai is the city where he will meet the girl of his dreams and make good in his singing career. Raj stays with his friend Abdul (Neeraj Vora). Abdul says that Mumbai is a city of pretenses and asks Raj to get a bike. Raj buys a bike on EMI by giving postdated checks, even though he has no money in the bank. Abdul introduces Raj to a music producer Mishra (Asrani). Raj sings a song for Mishra, and he is super impressed. Mishra wants Raj to record his songs in a cassette, which will cost Rs 2 Lakhs. Abdul goes to his miser uncle (Shakti Kapoor), who runs a roadside cafe. The uncle runs a juice machine in his cafe and eats the remainder of the fruit after the juice is taken out, so that there is no wastage. Raj and Abdul sell a bus stop, by making it like a shop, to the uncle and defraud him of Rs 2 Lakhs, to fund Raj's cassette. Raj uses the money and records the cassette, but when they go back to the music company, they find that Mishra had died. Raj and Abdul meet Mishra's boss and the owner of the gramophone company Mahesh Hirwani (Satish Shah) at Mishra's funeral. But Mahesh throws them out. Soon, Abdul's uncle figures out that he has been defrauded (when the municipality arrives with a bulldozer and removes the bus station where uncle had set up a juice shop) and goes mad. Raj is distraught that his dream is now in tatters. Raj rescues a young woman whose car has an accident and has fallen on the train tracks. Raj risks his own life to pull the woman out of the car, before an oncoming train crushes it. The woman was in wedding attire of a bride. He rushes to the hospital & stays with her. It is assumed by the hospital staff that Raj is the woman's husband. The attending doctor recognizes the woman as Pooja, the daughter of his friend. Pooja Oberoi (Rani Mukerji), the daughter of a wealthy family, survives but falls into a coma. She can listen and understand everything, but she can't speak or move. Her family Bharat Oberoi (Rajeev Verma) Pooja's father, Biji (Kamini Kaushal) and Bharat's trusted employee Govardhan (Paresh Rawal), and son of Pooja's Bua Monty (Vinay Pathak) rushes to the hospital. Finding Raj there, assumes that he is Pooja's husband Romi, with whom she had eloped with to marry and whom they had never met. The family was against Pooja marrying Romi and this was the reason that Pooja was driving away in stress (to run away with Romi) and met with an accident. The family is told that pretend Romi risked his life on the train tracks to save Pooja, and they indebted to him. When Raj is alone with Pooja, he tells her that he is leaving as he is not Romi. Govardhan hears this and now knows the truth about Raju not being Romi but begs Raju to stay for the sake of the family. Since Pooja's father has a higher chance of a heart attack, Raj agrees to lie and says he is Romi. Mahesh also finds that Romi (Real Raju) is the son-in-law of Oberoi and his whole attitude changes towards the pretend Romi. From the beginning pretend Romi talks to Pooja and tells her the truth. He returns her jewels that he found in her bag in the car. Pretend Romi confides in Govardhan that he will reveal the truth once his cassette is recorded by Mahesh. Govardhan agrees as he knows that Raju/pretend Romi is a good man by heart. As the family gets to know the pretend Romi, Pooja's best friend & Govardhan's daughter, Jahnvi (Preity Zinta) starts spending a lot of time with him. Raju rejects all material comforts offered by the family and wants to be his own man. Jahnvi is impressed with pretend Romi with each passing day. They pray at a temple together for Pooja's speedy recovery. Jahnvi finds pretend Romi talking to Pooja and figures out the truth. Her respect for Raj grows as she realizes that Raj is only helping Pooja out of the goodness of his heart. Raj and Jahnvi both fall in love with each other, who is regarded as a second daughter by Pooja's family. Pooja's Dance master (Razak Khan) had seen Raju at Mishra's recording studio and finds him at the Oberoi house, as Romi. But he has short term memory loss and doesn't remember Raju. Raj records his album with Mahesh. Then Pooja revives from her coma and complicates matters by falling for Raj. Raj and Jahnvi continue their affair, while hiding it from the family. Pooja has also identified Raj as Romi, to keep up the charade and keep the family feelings intact. Govardhan knows about Raj and Jahnvi and agrees to keep it a secret. When all is going well, Abdul's uncle arrives and accuses Raju of cheating the entire family. But Pooja stands up for Raju and says that as Romi, he could have done incalculable damage to her and the family but did nothing of the sort. He is a good guy. The family accepts Raju. In a conversation, Pooja and Jahnvi both reveal that they both love Raj using signs (Hand up) but Jahnvi realizes that Pooja loves Raj resulting in her putting her hand down. Raj and Jahnvi put their relationship to an end. On the day of their engagement, Jahnvi unknowingly takes Pooja's cell phone (Her and Pooja's cellphone look the same). Knowing that Raj will never marry Pooja if she's there, she decides to leave. When Jahnvi cell's phone rings, Pooja picks it up and it ends up being Abdul who pleads Jahnvi to break this wedding and come back to Raj. Pooja then reveals to everyone about Raj and Jahnvi and Raj and Jahnvi are once reunited. Pooja chooses Rahul (Shah Rukh Khan). Rahul comes to marry Pooja.

Raj, a detective, goes on a Europe trip for his friend's case. During the trip, he falls in love with Anjali, who is impersonating her best friend. Their journey together ensues romance and comic confusion. Anjali Khanna had always suspected her husband, Sanjay, of cheating on her, and flirting with other women. In order to keep an eye on him and his activities, she asks her friend, who is also named Anjali Khanna (Rani Mukherji) to go abroad under her name, which she does so. Devastated Prem decides to take to alcohol; eventually time passes and Prem starts to fall in love with an acquaintance, Priya Sharma. In this manner Prem gets ditched for a second time and blames himself for not being rich enough, and takes to alcohol. For the sake of their love, they decide to not give up on one-another and meet 6 months later, on Valentine`s Day, after sorting everything out with their fiances. While Dev breaks up with his fiance, Anita, and also becomes successful and rich; Priya realizes that it would only be wrong to break Raj, her fiance`s heart for he had helped her in her days of need. She writes a letter to Dev expressing her inability to come, but fortunately for her, Raj reads it instead. He persuades her to go to Dev. She leaves to go, but never reaches to meet Dev. Dev thinks she has rejected him, and goes back.. What is the reason really? Dev only finds out years later, when he goes to meet her to give her an anklet his, now late, grandmother, who adored her dearly, wanted her to have.

Hero (Salman Khan) works for a courier company owned by Khanna (Shakti Kapoor). He is spirited and humorous and is in love with Rani (Rani Mukerji), but she simply thinks of Hero as a good friend. Rani lives with her mother (Sulabha Arya). Hero specializes in giving Purple Nurples, while Rani is looking for a guy who is a Prince, tall, with a wide chest, and with a grand car. Hero has none of those things and drives a moped. Rani gets a job as a teacher in a school. Enter Inspector Vishal (Arbaaz Khan), who works in the narcotics department and has the reputation of being unrelenting towards drug smugglers and peddlers. Since Vishal has eradicated the drug business in Goa, he is transferred to Mumbai. His new commanding officer is Senior Inspector AK Khan (Neeraj Vora). Vishal is given Constable Hatella (Johny Lever) to support him. Khan assigns a case to Vishal where a man was caught supplying drugs under the guise of being a courier person. Vishal suspects Khanna to be involved in a drug ring and confronts him at a golf course. Khanna denies all knowledge of the case and says that his courier person was using Khanna's company to run a side business in drugs. Hero stands up to Vishal and defends his boss. Hero is a fun-loving person and teases Vishal with his antics and gags. Hero knows that Vishal is following him and keeping an eye to see if Hero is also into supplying drugs on behalf of Khanna. Hero knows Vishal is looking for evidence against Khanna and is convinced that there is no evidence to be found. Hero tells Vishal that he will never do a task which gets him to lose his self-respect in his own eyes or in the eyes of his Chawl where he lives. But soon Hero learns the truth behind Khanna. Khanna assigns extra deliveries to Hero to help him achieve his dream of impressing Rani. Khanna had asked Hero to deliver a parcel, which gets damaged during an accident on the road. Hero finds that the parcel contained drugs. Hero still believes that someone else is using Khanna and goes to his warehouse to warn him. Meanwhile, Vishal was following Hero and also enters the warehouse. Khanna realizes that Hero had found out everything about his drugs business and believes that Hero can go to the police. In a confrontation at the city docks, Khanna kills Hero (Hero had come to warn Khanna, but when Khanna heard the police sirens, he suspected that Hero had told the police everything) and shoots Vishal in the heart. The police department decides to transplant Hero's heart into Vishal's body. Hero now appears as a ghost and can only be seen by Vishal, since his heart is in Vishal's body. Vishal realizes that Hero is telling the truth, when he is shown Hero's dead body by Hatella and Khan. Hero says that he will only rest in peace after Khanna is killed, thus avenging him. Rani was out of town for a few days. When she returns, her mother informs her of Hero's death and the fact that he was involved in drugs trafficking. Rani refuses to believe that Hero was involved in any illegal activities. Rani realizes that Hero's body is still lying unclaimed in the morgue. Rani goes to the morgue to claim Hero's body and to perform his last rites. Vishal sees Rani for the first time at Hero's cremation. Vishal has a tickling sensation in his heart when he sees Rani, presumably because it is Hero's heart, who used to love Rani. Vishal takes control of a hostage situation at the school where Rani is a teacher. Vishal successfully enters the school, kills the terrorists and rescues all the kids as well as Rani. Rani starts to see Vishal in a positive light. They begin to date. Vishal and Rani begin to fall in love with each other. Hero dislikes this and tries to foil Vishal's plans of getting close to Rani. Hero gets Vishal to dress funny and to perform silly antics which make Rani question whether Vishal is mature enough to be her partner. Rani is livid with Vishal and Vishal tries to explain that someone else has made his life hell but is not able to. But Hero and Vishal start getting closer and work together, becoming good friends after Vishal confronts Khanna's drug company. Hero tells Vishal that Khanna is trying to liquidate his drugs stock and exit the country in haste. Vishal raids Khanna's warehouse and captures a shipment of drugs. Khanna arranges to leave the country, but kidnaps Rani. Vishal and Hero go to save Rani and fight off Khanna's henchmen, but Vishal gets injured. Hero then enters Vishal's body and controls his fighting moves, helping him to beat the thugs. Rani witnesses this and realizes that only Hero would do those kinds of moves. She calls out Hero's name, though Vishal does not know that Hero is inside him. Rani then calls out to warn Vishal that a plane is moving towards him. Vishal and Hero stop the plane, which Khanna is in, and then confront him. As they are talking, Vishal becomes distracted, speaking to Hero, and Khanna takes the opportunity to shoot Vishal. Hero takes Vishal's hand and shoots Khanna with the gun. Khanna finally dies, and as Rani is comforting Vishal, he tells her that Hero is with them, and he loves Rani. Rani then tells Vishal to tell Hero that she loves Vishal. Khanna's ghost rises from his dead body and Hero hits him. Khanna is taken to Hell and Hero is taken to Heaven. Afterwards, Rani and Vishal have gotten married and are spending their wedding night and honeymoon in a house on the water. It is shown that Hero, now an angel, is happily watching over them from Heaven.

Dev Karan Singh (Aamir Khan), a Casanova and ambitious painter deep in debt, agrees to marry Anita (Deepti Bhatnagar), the daughter of Pratap Rai Singhania (Dalip Tahil), a rich tycoon. Dev is deep is debt and is bankrupt. For Dev the marriage to Anita is a business deal. Priya (Manisha Koirala), a music teacher for children, is engaged to Raj (Anil Kapoor), whom she has agreed to marry because he had helped her when she was in need. Priya was 2 years old when her parents died in a car crash. Priya learned dance at her orphanage. Raj was a chief guest at her first function and offered to open up a dance academy where Priya could teach children. Later he asked for marriage. Priya and Dev meet on a cruise (Priya has won a contest and Dev is going to meet his grandma Suhana Devi (Sharmila Tagore), who lives on an island where only the cruise ship goes) (Priya undresses in Dev's cabin, thinking it is her cabin and Dev thinks Priya is a prostitute). Dev becomes fond of Priya. Dev is a fun-loving, flamboyant Casanova. He tries to get close to Priya. Initially, she doesn't get impressed by Dev (she even slaps him after he tries to get his hands on her during a serenade song. Dev offers to be friends with Priya after she tells him that she is engaged. But then Dev wants Priya to help with his other "conquests" on the ship, which she finds disgusting, but goes along as otherwise he won't leave her alone), but later falls in love with him (she gets jealous as Dev serenades other women on the ship and realizes that she is in love. Dev also stops the paparazzi who try to harass Priya by threatening to ruin her reputation by printing their pics being together). Dev takes Priya to meet his grandma. Priya and Suhana get along very well with each other. Suhana asks Priya to follow her heart. she is in tears when she leaves the island. Next day Bombay will come and the 2 will be separated. Dev admits his feelings for Priya. He begs for 6 months to work hard and prove his love for her. However, due to them already being engaged to other people, they agree to work everything out and meet in 6 months on Valentine's Day to get married. During the 6 months, Dev breaks off his engagement with Anita (Raj was there when Dev publicly broke off his engagement with Anita and applauds his commitment towards his love) and starts working hard (he even takes up menial jobs such as painting zebra crossings and ad posters on billboards). Driven by his love, he creates and auctions beautiful paintings, and becomes very successful along with the support of his friend Nattu (Neeraj Vora). On the other hand, Priya realizes that leaving Raj will be wrong (the headmistress of her orphanage tells Priya that if she leaves Raj, then going forward no decent man will ever marry a girl from the orphanage) and sadly writes a letter to Dev, explaining everything. When Raj gets the letter instead, he supports Priya and convinces her to go to Dev. Things take a bad turn when, on her way to meet him, Priya gets hit by a car and gets her legs amputated. Dev, who waited all night for Priya, believes she has rejected him, as he does not know of her accident. Priya forbids Raj from telling Dev the truth, not wanting to become a burden on him. Now, Priya spends her time running a musical academy for small kids. Though heartbroken, Dev continues his career and goes on to become a famous painter. One day, Priya attends his art exhibition and wishes to buy a painting of his, a sentimental picture of her speaking to his beloved grandmother, whom Dev had introduced to her during the cruise. Dev had said that he would not sell the painting as it was only for Priya, but upon hearing that the girl who wanted it understands the emotion behind the picture and is disabled, he tells the host of the exhibition to give the painting to her for free. One day, he meets Priya again with Raj at a theatre gathering but again Priya forbids Raj of telling the truth. He visits Priya to give her an anklet that his grandmother, who recently died, had wished for Priya to have when she became Dev's bride. Initially unaware of Priya's condition, Dev realizes the truth when he remembers giving the painting to a handicapped girl and finds the same painting in another room. The two embrace tearfully and he assures Priya that he will love her no matter what. Dev and Priya then married by Raj, where Dev carries Priya for the wedding rounds in the presence of Nattu and the children of the Musical academy.

This is the story of Rahul (Shah Rukh Khan) and Anjali (Kajol) who are best friends in college. Being so close to each other, Rahul and Anjali would probably fallen in love, however the reason why this did not happen was because they were having a very good time being best buddies and then Tina (Rani Mukherji) the Principal`s daughter came into their lives. For Anjali, Tina was a third member of their gang, however, for Rahul - his life was never the same - he fell in love with her.

Newly-wed Pooja is ill-treated by her in-laws and her husband for dowry. Unable to live with their demands and mistreatment, she decides to stand up for herself and teach them a lesson. Gone are the days (and the movies) when the Indian daughter-in-law stood by silently and got abused and slapped around by her mother-in-law, sisters-in-law, et al. Here, the daughter-in-law has not only her cruel and intimidating mom-in-law, but also her equally cruel, sister-in-law by the hair, and some may say, well under her thumb. Mala is raped by Raja. She takes him to court, but the judge orders her to marry her rapist as punishment. Despite Raja and his family's cruelty, Mala perseveres with kindness, eventually winning them over through her goodness. A pretty schoolteacher named Mala (Rani Mukherjee) becomes the victim of the unwanted advances of an evil man named Raja (Shadab Khan). When she rejects him, he rapes her. The teacher then takes him to court but to her horror the judge compels her to marry the rapist as part of the punishment.
