An earnest man , Joshua, has been working in Dubai since the age of fifteen. However, he gets a call to return home in Nilgiri hills, where he rediscovers the simple joys of life.

The movie is based on the issue of black money. The lead character played by Mammootty is based in Kasargod and the film portrays his struggle to tackle black money.

`Leela` is a comedy entertainer which narrates the hilarious journey of Kuttiyappan ( Biju Menon ) with his trusted friend ( Vijayaraghavan ). Through the journey, they come across many interesting characters which take the movie into a new, emotional, ethereal level, and finally lands up in an unexpected climax.

Jayanthi lands in Kerala, and plans to execute a particular mission involving the ongoing controversy of gold smuggling in Kerala, as she boards a taxi driven by Raju, who also happens to play a pivotal role in this operation!

The film`s story revolves around an NRI character who shifted base to Germany after he got married to a nurse.But he is sent back to Kottayam by the German Malayalees for a task that he must accomplish.

Mammootty is David John Kottarathil, a rich unrestrained planter, known popularly by the fancy name D K. He always enjoys life and roams around, getting drunk with his friends. He is the caretaker and secretary of the Cosmo Club. His father, John, accidentally kills Eappachayan,the father of Sara Eapen who D K is supposed to marry. The story takes a turn when Annie (Mukta) a medical student and Sara`s half sister who is taken cared of by David, is accused by the police for committing the murder of Benny, an upcoming politician and the son of political king and former Revenue Minister M C Paul (Vijayraghavan). Now David must save her and also reveal the political family leadership pattern prevalent in the state.
