Sher Singh lives with his mother and handicapped sister in Punjab but moves to Mumbai, changes his name to Shekhar, meets Nisha and falls in love. When his mother asks him to return, he explains to Nisha that if he takes her before they are married the people would make an issue of it and promises to return in 4 days. On his return, Shekhar is surprised to find out that the Zamindar's son is ready to marry his sister. His mother tells him that the Zamindar's daughter Sweety loves him from their childhood days. The Zamindar had approached his mother to fix the marriage but she told him that she cannot fix her son's wedding until her daughter is married. Sweety's brother agreed to the marriage for as his mother says, brothers are those who sacrifice everything for their sister's happiness. He has no alternative and marries Sweety. So, during the day Sher Singh stays with Sweety and at night Shekhar stays with Nisha. One day both of them meet Sher Singh and tell him that he cannot go till Shekhar arrives! Sher Singh scoffs at this, and only wants to get married to Bombay-based Marathi-speaking beauty, Nisha. Sher gallantly steps in and marries Nisha. Sweety and his mom re-locate to Bombay and Sher leads a double life with his wives. Nisha and Sweety both get pregnant and give birth to two look-alike sons, Tuktuk, and Tony. When the children grow up, they find out that their dad is deceiving them, and matters come to a head where Sher actually admits that he did commit bigamy - only to be confronted with a real look-alike of his - who claims to be Nisha's husband. Shruti [child artiste Hansika Motwani] is the 10-year-old daughter of Shrikant [Sanjay Kapoor] and Shraddha [Raveena Tandon]. She travels to her school by the local train every morning. One day, she accidentally gets locked up in her school and by the time she catches a train to go home, it is already midnight. Three young drug addicts also board the train and seeing her alone, they rape her in front of three passengers who seem afraid and helpless to come to her aid. Shruti is brought in an unconscious state to the hospital by the police. She breathes her last in front of her aggrieved parents. The city is shocked by this untoward incident. The case is handed over to Kripa Shankar Thakur [Manoj Bajpai], an upright and honest cop from the Crime Branch. While rehearsing for a dance play; Shruti accidentally gets locked in the school and a while later is rescued by the school's watchman who then drop her off at the Bandra rail-way station where she attempt to telephone her mother but gets busy tone. She then boards a Borivali bound local train in the ladies compartment but because of the late hour the train is almost deserted with only an elderly male, a woman and a young girl. Three young drug addicts then enter by locking the windows and door, they gang rape her. The three witnesses are unable to do anything due to the fear of losing their lives. After completing the heinous act; the assailants leave the train at Malad Railway station. When the train reaches Borivali; the male in the compartment makes an anonymous call to the police who arrive on the scene as well as arrange for the girl to be taken to the nearest hospital where she breath her last. This news then send shock waves in the city of Mumbai so much that the police commissioner decides to take the case from the rail-way police and hand it to the criminal investigating department where inspector Krupa Shankar Thakur makes an appearance and promises to work with the girl's parents in prosecuting the assailants. —gavin (racktoo@hotmail.com) Nine year old Shruti is the only child of Mumbai-based Shrikant and Shweta, and is enrolled in a school in Bandra (West). One day, while rehearsing for a play, she is stranded in the rehearsal room. When the watchman returns, he lets her out, and drops her off at Bandra Railway Station. She attempts to telephone her mom, but gets the line busy, so she boards a Borivali bound local train in the ladies compartment. Because of the late hour, the compartment is nearly deserted, save for an elderly male, a woman, and a young girl. Three youth enter this compartment, lock the doors and windows, and gang-rape her. The other people are too terrified to do anything. The three youth, their task completed, leave the train at Malad Railway Station. When the train reaches Borivali, the male in the compartment makes an anonymous call to the police, who then arrive on the scene. When the news is revealed in the media, there is an uproar in Mumbai and the suburbs. Normally such matters are handled by the Railway Police, but taking account the publicity generated by this crime, the Mumbai Crime Branch and Inspector Krupa Shankar Thakur decide to get involved. Raja Saheb lives a wealthy life-style together with his wife, Madhu, and her brother, Veeru. Both Madhu and Raja have been heart-broken several times when they have had miscarriages. A shadow is cast on the family when Arjun is accused of having illicit relationships with a school-teacher. This teacher eventually commits suicide and blames Arjun in her suicide note. After kidnapping him, Raja does take his place with Rahul's family, his stepmom, Sharda, dad Dhanraj, uncle, aunt, and sweetheart Sona. Sona happens to be the daughter of Raja's mentor K.K., and this arouses anger with K.K. when he finds out that Raja has chosen Sona to seduce. Laadla (The Beloved Son) is the story of Raju (Anil Kapoor) who lives with his disabled mother Gayatri (Farida Jalal). Raju is a dock worker who always looks out for the welfare and interests of his colleagues and saves them from frauds who are after their hard-earned money. Sheetal is the daughter of businessman Laxminarayan. She runs the company and the factory with an iron hand. Kaajal is her assistant. Sheetal admonishes her staff for being 5 minutes late to their job. Tilak Bhandari (Shakti Kapoor) is the production manager whom she often slaps and insults for trivial issues like production dropping from 50 tons to 49 tons for one day due to 5 workers being on holiday. Sheetal has studied in London and is responsible for turning around a financially sick enterprise into a profit-making machine. It is now the best factory in the entire country. Laxminarayan wants to get Sheetal married but she has already rejected every match that came her way. Laxminarayan is worried that there is no man who can reign in Sheetal. Banobi (Aruna Irani) is the house maid at Laxminarayan's house and has seen Sheetal grow up over the years. Sheetal's competitive attitude and open insults result in her making several enemies in her industry. This includes her immediate rival Suryadev, and his brother Hiravat Bajaj (Paresh Rawal), Suryadev's son Vikram "Vicky" Bajaj (Mohnish Behl) among others. Suryadev was sick of losing contracts to Sheetal, so Hiravat suggests to get Sheetal married to Vikram and this way they would get control over Sheetal's factory. When they bring the marriage proposal home, Sheetal insults Suryadev and Vikram for even thinking about this match. Raju decides to give up his docks job and shift to Bombay to take care of his mother. He needs to find a new job to support his mother. One day Raju on his way to a job interview saves the life of a rich textile mill owner Laxminarayan Jetley (Anupam Kher). The goons were sent by Hiravat to extract their revenge on Sheetal, but Raju intervenes and saves Laxminarayan by taking him to the hospital. Turns out Raju's interview was at Sheetal Industries. Laxminarayan tells Raju to visit the company which is run by his ambitious daughter Sheetal (Sridevi) and says that he will get a job. Previously, Raju ran into Sheetal at the airport and Sheetal believes that he bumped into her on purpose. Sheetal and Raju exchanged insults, and Sheetal already makes her mind about Raju. When Raju arrives at Sheetal's office for his interview, they both recognize each other from the airport. Sheetal throws Raju out of her office. Raju goes back to Laxminarayan who reveals that he is Sheetal's father and the owner of the company. Laxminarayan asks Raju to return to the office and promises that this time he will get a job. Meanwhile Tilak Bhandari joins hands with Suryadev and Hiravat and plots Sheetal's downfall. Suryadev bribes Bhandari to cause accidents inside Sheetal's factory to malign its reputation. Raju gets a job as a mechanic in the mill at a salary of Rs 3200 per month. Raju confronts Sheetal several times to get the workers proper treatment. One time Raju uses Sheetal's car to transport an injured worker to the hospital. Due to Raju's timely action, the worker's arm is saved from being amputated. Sheetal fires Raju but all the mill workers threaten a strike as they believe what Raju did is fair. Sheetal is livid and sets fire to her car as it was covered in blood. Raju's fairness for workers results in him being elected as the union leader. Raju meets Kaajal (Raveena Tandon), who also works in the company, and they fall in love. One day, Raju saves Sheetal's life during an attempt by a competing textile mill owner Suryadev (Prem Chopra) to eliminate her. Raju saves her by pushing her out of the way of an oncoming crane. Though he saves her, Sheetal enrages as Raju touches her and slaps him in front of all workers. Later Raju goes to Sheetal's cabin and slaps her for five times with a cause for each time. Sheetal cannot fire Raju as then she has to tell all of her workmen she was slapped by Raju. For taking revenge, Sheetal wants to win over Raju and makes an offer to marry him. When Raju turns her down, she forces his mom to agree to the marriage. Raju accepts his mom's wishes and decides to sacrifice his love for Kaajal. Sheetal expects Raju to move in with her after their marriage and live in luxury, but Raju refuses and continues to work in the mill. Raju starts to live in Sheetal's house upon her mother's order though he continues his job as a mechanic in mill which is now his own. Raju starts to recognize Sheetal as his wife and starts loving her. Raju also saves Sheetal again when some henchmen of Suryadev try to kill her. When Sheetal thanks Raju for saving her, Raju tells her that he also saves her maid servant also if she is fallen in this kind of situation. Tension arises between Raju and Sheetal, when she fires Kajaal out of jealousy as Sheetal sees Kajaal to visit Raju's house frequently, though Kajaal goes there to take care of Raju's lonely mother only. When labor issues cause the workers to go on strike. The competing mill owner plans to take advantage of the situation and hires goons to set the mill on fire. Raju in his attempt to stop the fire is mistakenly arrested. Raju's mom goes to Sheetal's house to clear matters but is insulted and taunted by Sheetal, and collapses, until Raju arrives to save his mother and slaps Sheetal for taking it out on his mother and breaks his ties with her. A guilty Sheetal who truly is in love with Raju decides to kill herself until the rival mill owners kidnap and decide to kill her themselves, until Raju arrives to save her life. Also, she becomes a good wife to Raju and both of them lives happily ever after with each other love in Raju's house. Sheetal improves herself. Kajal turns managing director of her company, as Sheetal quits her job.

Prashant Verma is employ as a reporter with 'Navkranti' a media-house that publishes daily newspaper. The unlawful activities and injustice taking place in his surrounding frustrates him to the extent of single-handily revolting. The gang affected by Prashant's behavior is headed by the notorious Tavu who in retaliation abducts and sexually molest Prashant's sister Shalini which made her commits suicide. And now a shattered and devastated Prashant must decide to avenge this or re-locate to another city and try to put his life together again.
